Congrats Halx =) Finally getting the big guys down is such a thrill. We're working on Ragnaros now, ugh. Anyone on Llane want to send me some Greater Fire Protection Pots? =P

Quick question... I'm going to be closing my account in the next couple weeks here in preparation for moving to Germany at the end of the month, where I likely won't have internet access nor the time to play. How do you go about doing this? I've heard some of yall talk about reactivating your accounts and playing your old characters; does this mean that if I cancel and then decide to come back later, my characters will still be there?

Yep, they keep your characters on record, you can reactivate your account any time and get them back. To cancel your account just to go worldofwarcraft.com and go to "my account" in the upper right-hand corner.

To the guy asking about BWL, if you haven't farmed MC to death yet I recommend just sticking with that. BWL encounters are so buggy and random at this point that it is not really worth the time investment for the average guild. We have engaged the second boss (Valesestreareaasas or something like that ;)) and twenty seconds into the fight had a Priest grab agro from our MTs and he had never casted anything. That sort of randomness doesn't add difficulty to the encounter, it makes it idiotic. The old Ragnaros (2.0) was like that, with the unresistible elemental damage that may or may not go off 15 times and wipe your raid. Having to repeat encounters in an attempt to get a good roll of the dice is moronic -- especially on an encounter like the second, where you are limited to 1 hour of attempts every six days (or 1 hour every day I think it is, now.)

So, honestly, if you are not farming Ragnaros I suggest working on him and waiting for Blizzard to properly fix the BWL encounters before frustrating yourself with them.

Thanks a lot for the info Seretogis, I'll mention your advice on our forum!

I won the game two nights ago! Well not really of course, but in my mind, Onyxia was the original gangster of bosses since she was the only one around when I created my character. I hit 60 about a week ago and rushed through the Ony key quests so I could hop in our weekly raid on Monday nights. We wiped the first three times at about 30% then managed to devour her on our fourth. Someone started a chain-ressurection at about 25% and we wound up having virtually every healer (shaman, druid, priest) alive and strong when we killed her. Aside from the regular Ony loot, she dropped two cloth pieces, cornerstone offhand, and deathbringer which I won the roll on but handed down to a warrior I like. What a fun and exciting fight! I can't wait to farm this chic.

Just wanted to respark this thread, it's been almost 20 days since a post!

Jadedfox 08-22-2005 01:29 PM

Yeah, been busy in BWL. Currently stuck on boss #6, "Chromaggus". And no offense Seretogis but if the fights seem too random maybe you're doing something wrong?

Sorry, but any guild that is at Chromaggus pre-Vael-fix is either an Alliance guild (gg Blessing of Salvation) or exploiting past Vael. The first two fights have been admitted by Blizzard to have been "too random" and have been adjusted twice so far to account for the faction-differences when it comes to ease of manipulating agro.

-Ever- 08-23-2005 07:11 PM

We gave up on BWL to focus on Onyxia and MC. We've got ony on 30min farm status (I've lost twice on 10storms now) and mc sub-bosses run strong every weekend.

Our guild is fun and the people are cool, devoted, and strong, however I'm envious of guilds that are way ahead of the game and well into BWL finding the newest of loot. I play mmo's for the role of it, and when it comes to loot, I hate being the guy who has the same item as 80% of the other people on the server. Hope you guys are getting hot drops there!

Zeraph 08-24-2005 10:20 PM

Finally got Cland to 60 a few days ago. Except he's a rogue so the game sort of ends there...only half kidding.

I've been thinking about a mage, it's wierd though, any characters I play I usually decide first what is simply cool to me, then go on gameplay. With a mage I seem to like the gameplay when I'm playing. But when I'm not, I've got no cool factor for it to make me want to go back and continue. The other thing being, in my eyes, gnomes make the best mages (for alliance), but Im not sure I can stand playing a gnome for my main. Theyre just too goofy and gear doesnt show up well on them. Since I've played 1-60 this would be more of an end game character, but if the cool loot doesnt even show up like it should, well why bother? Anyways the solution would be just play a human, but #1 I think they look a bit goofy too, #2 boring, and #3 they arnt the "best" race (in my mind) so it bothers me a bit. An undead might work, except I want to play with my alliance guild. Plus theres all that money my main has that would be wasted if I went to another server (on pvp so I cant make horde on the same server). Then theres the annoyance of having to level again on a pvp server, and I think I'd just be better off without it..but again i'd be leaving my guilld, a decent guild I finally found after all this time. Well I'm surprised if anyone is still reading this...just rambling really.

Yes we're Alliance and we NEVER exploit in any way. So blame it on BoS if you like I can accept that. Neverthless, we did just fine pre-nerf on the first two bosses.

I found this thread long after I began playing WoW.

I'm a 49 human mage on the Archimonde server.

Anyone else play there?

I havent bought it yet, but i've got friends sending me screenshots, enticing me. I'm afraid. I get addicted to games. I'm just ordering a $3000 system with everything full out, so the game should run seamelessly (I plan to do a lot of video editing).... but man, i'm scared. It's as addictive as they say, isn't it?

It's actually not nearly as addicting as other MMORPGs, but it is way funner. The only reason the game isn't as addicting as other games is because it's way easier than other MMORPGs. A lower difficulty means you don't have to play as much to level up, hence the lowered addiction factor. :) I played WoW a lot, but only because there wasn't much else to do. I played EQ even if there was other stuff to do, nonstop, all the time. I woke up early in the morning to play EQ and stayed up late playing. That hasn't happened with WoW even though I have a 60 warrior and a 51 priest. I cancelled because the end-game is solely about extreme luck in instance running. I don't mind instances, but I hate when the item you want has a 1% chance of dropping, and even if it does, there are others that want it as well. There should be some type of system in the game that lets you put in time and gets you a promised reward instead of a reward based on pure luck.

I'd play for the PVP alone (I LOVE the combat system in WoW) but the PVP system is fucked up due to Battlegrounds right now. :( It's impossible to gain ranks on my server.

Are there mmorpg's that use a different system than this?

Also, can someone explain what a hero class is that I keep reading about on the forums?

lagoonguy 08-30-2005 11:38 PM

I played MUSH's before.... those that go for highest levels... I'd have to guess that there's more player-character interaction than just going for the highest level - else it wouldn't be a good 1000 player game, right? I dunno.

Xenomorph 08-31-2005 06:55 AM

Lasereth, were you involved with any guilds that used Dragon Kill Points (DKP) as the method of loot distribution? They're far from random.

Basically you earn points by showing up for raids on time and killing bosses. Once you've accumulated enough points, usually over the course of several raids, you can use them to 'buy' an uber-drop and get it without having to roll on it (unless more than one person has the DKP required to buy it, but even if you lose in such a situation then the winner will be weeks behind you if you were roughly equal going into it).

You need a consistent raiding group to pull it off but a DKP system is a good way to ensure that everyone at the same level of participation gets roughly the same rewards. I can't imagine random-rolling vs. the other 5-odd shamans that are regularly in my guild raid for my MC gear.

I was on the server of the guild that invented DKP. :) My guild does currently use it. I'm talking about instances before the 40-mans though...it's unreasonable to use DKP in UBRS, Scholo, LBRS, Strath, DM, etc. My brother did UBRS 38 times and never got the Magister's Robes. That's bullshit and there should be some way to prevent 200 hours of wasted gametime.

I know there are no other games that offer this, but it doesn't change my opinion that it is needed. DKP is a good system, but it benefits the freaks, not the average player. The average player will NEVER be able to get a drop in 40-man raids because the people who go everytime will have more DKP than them.

My response was towards the last post. I didn't mean to give the impression that my guild used DKP in the lower-end instances. :) They only use it in MC/BWL right now.

Ahh ok, sorry for the misunderstanding. I'd never heard of using DKP in pre-MC/BWL, so was curious. :P

Man, Lasereth be glad you guys quit. PR had a falling out and ALOT of people have left. It's almost not worth it to find another guild. Anyway, My rogue is about to hit 60 and so far PVP is so much more fun than it ever was with my pally or priest. I just hope the ranking system gets some much needed work.

Peace out,

Greetings All,
In short, how does an Alliance Raid beat the first room in BWL? I was invited as a fillin for new raiding guild (a merger). We tried three or four times went and repaired and tried it again. We divided into four groups (at the corners) and a warrior was trying to train the mob. Is there another way? I didnt really appreciate the 3g repair bill so if I do this again I would like to offer a different strategy. Thanks

-Ever- 09-08-2005 09:50 AM

I asked this same question a few pages back and got mixed results. I'm interested in hearing any current explanations (post patch, etc) as well.

Chingal0 09-09-2005 12:31 AM

I agree 100% with laserath's above posts. I have a 60 mage and a 60 warrior, and my mage is in a MC guild, but they do DKP and I am too busy living life to devote 6+ hours to a MC run, 2 hours for Ony, and who knows how long in BWL. For that reason, I barely make raids, which isn't a big deal, but whats the point of raiding if not for loots? Also the pvp is really fun, but it is so hard to gain ranks because of the people getting 3, 4, 500k contribution points each week. It's rediculous.

Jinn 09-13-2005 06:57 AM

Not to entirely threadjack, as I don't play WOW..

But DKP was definitely not invited in WOW.

The earliest existance I know of was in EQ1..

So much going on in WoW recently. Many guilds finishing BWL, ZG comes out, links of new purples galore in guild chat.....

Our guild had two full groups run ZG for the first time non-test server tonight. G1 got through three bosses and G2 (mine) only through the Bat-Princess lady. It was a really good time all in all.

Time to farm Hakkar more than MC :hmm:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...p=1#post569585

Random fact: Elitist Jerks (EJ) is on my realm and was the first to down Hakkar on the test server. Wonder if they've killed him since the patch yet.

dabossy2k 09-14-2005 08:00 AM

Man I was suprised my server had few problems last night or at least didnt see any on the forums. All the changes and now seems like the waits for any of the BGs are less. So all in all I think blizzard is doing a better job. Still need to test out all my chars just to make sure. But gotta give it up to blizzard for this one.

Seer666 09-15-2005 05:53 AM

Hum, kind of surpised I didn't post here sooner. Got a 59(be 60 in a day or 2) rogue on Hyjal. (300 triabl leatherworking, btw, if you have a hoard druid and want cheep armor. :) ) Have yet to do any of the big end runs onthe game. Our guild is pretty small. However had a kick ass DM run the night before last. The purple book the warriors and Pallies need to do the quest for thir epic weapon dropped TWICE in one run. First one when to the warrior that was running with us, the second one I won the roll on. That sucker is gonna get me my epic mount. :) the amount I've seen thing got for in the AH is just insane.

ObieX 09-15-2005 06:29 AM

So what does everyone think of ZG? Took my first visit last night. We tried the first boss and had an excelent strategy, and would have beaten her if people didn't feel the need to leave after 2 deaths and/or join a 2+ hour instance when they only have 30 minutes to play............

Anyway from the first few feet of the thing i saw it was ok. Not quite sure how i feel about the exploding bats tho. I mean.. atleast make it interruptable with counterspell or something.

The new battleground is pretty nice, i still prever the AV battleground, but its ok. Now if only the horde would play it (they prefer to join WSG as guild groups and farm Honor.. so alliance players just dont play it anymore) So now on my server we have 3 battlegrounds that no one plays. Alliance doesnt want to play WSG, Horde don't want to play AB, and there's just not enough players on the horde side to get a good AV battleground going.. heh...

May get in on 1 or 2 battlegrounds a night if you dont mind an hour+ wait. Fun fun!

Scorps 09-15-2005 11:18 AM

The only porblem with the new patch is minor for my mage, when im out of range for my spells the hot key number most of the time is red but for the Arcane Missles it doesn't turn red anymore, but it still only works at 30yrd range! Besides that minor problem everything works awesome.

ObieX 09-15-2005 02:43 PM

Yea i noticed that too. Also strangely blink seems to have a slight problem too.. i cant put my finger on it exactly, but it isn't always refreshed when it's supposed to be.. and it's gotten me killed multiple times in pvp. This seems to happen in the new battleground.

Zeraph 09-16-2005 07:49 AM

AB is pretty fun, a much nicer scale for a rogue or any other non AOE class. Only thing is the rewards for rogues really really suck. I mean theres like 1 cloak or something and that's it. The rest is plate and a caster dagger. I really wish they were all just one faction, as it is now it takes forever and a day to get exalted anyways. Assuming you didn't exploit or ninja loot when the system first came out. To me, as a rogue, AV is the worst to play, but has by and far the best rewards.

seretogis 09-16-2005 10:32 AM

The 1.7 patch has brought a lot of issues out in the open -- most notably resists. My level 56 Frostbolt spell now behaves as if it was a level 56 casting it, not my 60 Mage. So, resists in PvP and PvE are noticeably higher for all casters who aren't using a level 60 spell for damage (Mages' happens to be Fireball, useless in most raiding content.)

On the bright side, though, we got Thunderfury last night and to the best of my knowledge were the first Horde-PvP guild to do so.

http://www.twelveprophets.com/images...erfury-pvc.jpg

I dueled Gauge right after he got it (in 1h+shield mode) and was raped by the procs. :( I feel sorry for anyone who encounters him, the proc is insane. Pardon the QVC-image, I don't have a screenshot of just Gauge online atm so I yoinked it from our news.

noahfor 09-16-2005 11:30 PM

Actually Blizzard says just the opposite is true:

"Hopefully this will clear up any confusion that is currently widespread regarding spell resistances as well as reinforce the fact that since these reports back come in, QA really has tested spell resistances thoroughly and found that they are working in 1.7.0 exactly the same way that they were working in 1.6.1.

Firstly, as you all know, the following note is included in the patch 1.7.0 patch notes:

Debuffs and area effect spells now use their actual cast level rather than effective cast level for calculating periodic resistance.

In better terms, this means that Debuffs and area effect spells now use their adjusted cast level rather then the level the spell became available when calculating periodic resistance. For example, Blizzard rank 5 (a spell learned at level 52) cast by a level 60 mage should be considered cast by a level 60 caster not a level 52 caster."

I'm not saying what you are saying is untrue; I'm just saying that that's what they're saying.

Didn't they nerf the proc so that it no longer stacks? Big grats by the way, your guild has always been on top it's stuff.

New patch thoughts:

ZG is lots of fun. Requires smart, communicative groups and decent strategies. I've killed five of the 6 sub-bosses. If you're questioning ZG, check out the loot drops then get back to us ;)

Onyxia was stealth buffed. We usually down her with much ease but this time we couldn't do it in three tries. 1st got her to 5% with a full group left then suddenly we bombed..., 2nd was about 25% with a torn up group remaining, and 3rd to about 35%. The fight is a lot more random now and not as formulaic. I'm all for making things more challenging but man was it random.

Edit: We killed Onyxia today but man was it still a "stay-focused" fight.

seretogis 09-18-2005 12:06 AM

Heh, we dropped Chromaggus on our first day of attempts without using sands (or exploiting) so I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that those guilds who were saying he was impossible to kill without exploiting were likely exploiting their way up to him as well.

ElvenDestiny 09-19-2005 08:24 AM

This is kinda random and off running topic.. but whats the point of pvp if you can fight anyone you choose?.. I play on an RP server (cen circle) and I recently tried out The Emerald dream in hopes that I can run around at lvl 1 picking fights with anyone in site, and was very dissappointed when I couldnt and found out I could only fight horde.

xepherys 09-20-2005 12:12 PM

I can't believe I haven't posted here before. I've been playing since open beta, am entirely addicted to the game and wondering if any TFPers will be joining me at BlizzCon. MUR ftw!

MechCow 09-21-2005 05:09 AM

Anyone else play on Khadgar? I have 3 characters there

Greatbambino - Troll Mage - 41
Theonemoocha - Tauren Hunter - 19
Nomin - Gnome Warrior - 21

I love WoW, its a really awesome game. The most amazing thing is that all my friends play but we all play with different goals and different approaches. One of my friends plays purely to be altruistic and he loves helping people out. Myself I just love levelling and the challenge of it. I have never played a MMO before, but I got into this one very quickly. Some of the magic has been lost as I have explored the world, it was most fun when I was about level 18. Doing WC has been the highlight for me, I did it in an extremely balanced party of 5, healer, shaman, rogue, warrior and myself (mage) and it was just magic. Raining down the blizzards and doing the big damage and feeling like I played my part, that was gold. Very fun.

Must completely disagree with whoever it was who said they use the mouse. I would strongly advise you not to do that. I work in computers and fight against RSI every day, constantly clicking puts great strain on muscles in your hands. Apart from anything else once you get used to it and have everything hotkeyed up its not a problem.

My gnome warrior is my most fun character, but I mostly play my mage now cause I want to see the endgame (sometime this year). Gnome warrior is such a crazy contradiction and its a real challenge, but he is getting quite cool and has potential I think. High agility is pretty neat. My original idea was to make him a tank but that is proving not feasible, I'm going to go for more damage when I pick him up again.

My biggest gripe with WoW is just that it takes an unnecessary amount of time to do stuff, and it seems like it has been engineered to be a really slow game. That is cool cause now all my friends are playing, but it seems that it has been designed to keep people playing for as long as possible. Especially the honour system, new BG, new long raids etc., and soon the expansion pack, I think it alienates a lot of non-hardcore players this way. If I designed an MMO it would run on playstation and it wouldn't just be for nerds, it would be for everyone. I'm sick of being the nerd who plays that crazy game, and its becoming more widely accepted but I still think that the truely massive MMO is yet to come, the one that every young person plays.

Anyway if your on Khadgar give me a yell. We have our own Horde guild full of nice people as well.

-Ever- 09-21-2005 09:47 AM

You sound like you're really enjoying the game for what it is MechCow. Enjoy it while you can. The closer you get to 60 with the more grinding you have to do, the less I felt the magic that I think you mentioned you felt around level 18. I see that you have a few alts already which is a great idea for early on.

It's good to hear nice stories from people who aren't worried about the level 60 drama for a chance

I was getting really bored with WoW, and then ZG came out, and I'm having a blast again. They did a fine job with that instance and it's really rejuvenated my interest in playing.

So any NE's on Cen Circle looking for a guild? I run one thats kinda based off of the books its called, "Sacred Order of Nozdormu"

I debated about getting WoW until PC Gamer settled it for me. I got the 14 day trial disk in the mail and thought 'Hey, what the hell?'
Loved it started 6 different characters to see which felt best, and they I find out that, if I buy the actual game and join up I can transfer the trail game characters over! Score – no need to start from scratch. Going to concentrate on the Rouge 18, Warrior 18 and Warlock 15

Horde or Alliance? and what server are you on??

Halx 09-29-2005 05:26 PM

Last weekend, my "Raid Alliance" group killed Ragnaros. Funny thing was, it was a bugged encounter. The sons didn't spawn, so all we had to do was keep our tank and DPS alive, recouperate during the 90 second breaks, and we finally managed to kill him. It took 3 waves of non-existant Sons to kill him, so in actuality, we are a long ways from killing him.

The sons help you kill him?

No, that's why he said they're a long way from being able to win legit. It's MUCH harder (obviously) with the sons.

Wow, you rule. Nice job. I think those are my favorite mounts in the game. Too bad I'm lame alliance and can't get one. I'd pay HANDSOMELY for one. I also don't PvP much, but that's another question entirely.

Halx 10-04-2005 05:00 AM

So, my guild is getting pretty awesome. We're not super leet or anything... we have about 20 members right now, but over the last few days, we've been really having a fun time.

We zerged UBRS on Saturday in 70 minutes. We had a hunter pull the entire last room to us across the bridge. When I say entire.. I mean.. ENTIRE. She asked, "Do you want me to keep pulling? There's only 2 groups left." And we told her to keep going. So we handled the next group she pulled, and she went back for the last group. After a brief pause, I decided to look down the bridge to see what was coming... and there came Drakkisath with his two guards.

That had to be the funniest sight ever. The fact that we owned him and his guards after having them essentially "leeroyed" onto us by our puller made it even funnier. To think, it takes a pickup group like 5 minutes to go over the strategy before attempting him. Then they wipe.

On Sunday, we killed the first 4 bosses in ZG, which was just plain awesome and enjoyable. That new instance is where it's at. Such a welcome challenge. We capped the night by doing a COMPLETE stratholme run in 90 minutes.

On monday, we spent a good 4 hours wiping to the 5th boss in ZG (Thekal) before finally downing him on what we declared would be our last attempt. He dropped shitty loot, but we were all pleased.

Tonight we're going for the 6th boss, Arolkk. Hope she drops her staff.

It's not a pvp reward, it's a cross-faction mount from runecloth turnins! Tauren can finally buy mounts other than Kodos (well, only wolves now too), but it's not being implimented until 1.8. These pics are from the test server.

I've always wanted a wolf and just about lost it when I read that tauren were going to be able to ride them soon. I sure did pay the price though. 800g for the mount and *well* over 1000g for all the runecloth. Worth every penny :p

Mr. Mojo 10-05-2005 02:34 PM

A few nights ago I went on my first raid in Ashenvale with my level 18 Rogue. Here's a tip for the newbies (yeah, that's right, I spelled it correctly – I'm old!) If you're below level 20, don't go on a raid unless you want to die a lot! One shot kills, one hit kills. I was dying faster than I do playing Quake III. I even tried to sit down in stealth and watch the battle unfold, nope, some hunters still saw me sitting on the tree stump minding my own business and blew me away...Ka-BLAM! So I watched in wisp form which was very educational. I had never seen the Area Effect powers before. Watching the ground under the Horde turn to snow (ice) was totally unexpected
Don’t get me wrong, it was fun, and it makes me want to get to a higher level so I can get cooler equipment and spells. Who knows, maybe someday I'll get a chance to 'gank' someone…as soon as I figure out what the hell that means. :)

Lasereth 10-05-2005 03:29 PM

Raiding was one of the more entertaining aspects of the game. My guild that I was in before I quit raided the Undercity once with 70 level 60s. That was amazing. We got the UC boss down to 14% without a plan. :) I wish Battlegrounds was that fun. I wish Battlegrounds didn't ruin the honor system as well. I'd still be playing if the honor system was playable without doing Alterac Valley 20 times a week to compete with the CP farmers.

I'm back into this game hardcore now... well kind of...

my characters:
Azgalor - Alliance

Kaeldar - 46 NE druid
Saara - 25 human rogue
Thrusha - 25 dwarf priest
Pickles - 23 gnome warrior
Sqwert - 20 gnome warlock

like someone said earlier... it's hard to play just one. I've also created hordes on lots of other servers, but I haven't absolutely decided which server is going to be my horde server, so they're all low level.

Hanabal 10-10-2005 11:05 PM

ive got a question, i know some friends that have the game from china, and im really wanting to get it to play with them, but I don't know if they will be on a different server.

I know about all the different realms and stuff but do people in china play on the same realms as people from elsewhere?

Frosstbyte 10-11-2005 01:24 AM

My guild finally took down Bloodlord Mandokir and High Priestess Mar'li tonight. We've been wiping on those two for a couple weeks, so it was nice to finally get them out of the way.

Too bad neither one of them dropped any decent loot. I was really hoping to pick up the epic bow. Ah well.

Halx 10-11-2005 01:37 AM

We've cleared most of ZG so far. Mar'li and Thekal were bastard fights. We're on Arlokk, but we've only had a couple attempts. We kicked ourselves in the head when we realized, after we had retired for the night, that we had been doing it the hard way. Why oh why did we not think of Blessing of Sanctuary?

Mr. Mojo 10-11-2005 08:53 AM

I was kinda bored with my Dwarf Paladin, Mfillmore, so i dropped blacksmithing and took up engineering. Wow, total change. Now I cant wait to build up my skills, i gone up 2 levels in no time. I'm just shy of skill 100 and getting Flying Tiger Goggles (link), Ez-Thro Dynamite (link) for my alts & Mechanical Squirrel (link) when I get the recipe. I have already created items for my alts and mailed them off, and have parts needed mailed back I created a guild of one!

I can tell once you get past 20 its going to be more difficult to solo. Any tips for some one starting out would be appreciated.
How do i sell soul bound items at the AH?

Grats on the Bloodlord, he can be pretty rough. Just wait till the tiger boss though, holy ish.

Frosstbyte 10-12-2005 03:22 PM

We came back the next time and cleared Jeklikk, Venoxis and Bloodlord in about three hours with only one wipe when someone wasn't paying attention and got thrown back into a group of blood drinkers.

All caster loot. Why? Oh why.

No, people in China play on their own servers "with localized content."

However, we all know that some Chinese people play on US Servers, maybe it depends on the retail box version purchased? I'm not sure.

Mr. Mojo you can't selll soulbound items in the AH. They are...bound to your soul! :)

You can solo up to 35-40 if you don't want to do instances and are will to pick up groups for a few of the tougher bosses. Advice? Just do the quests. If you get to a zone that seems to start out too high you may have missed one.

Frosstbyte 10-16-2005 02:36 AM

So it seems the 30 year olds in my guild have decided to take "The Higher Road" and act like the 15 year olds who are pissing them off (my guild's name is The Higher Road, which is why that is funny, I guess, kinda, not really). Looks like this thing is about to explode in my face, and I've no idea where I'm going to find another spot.

Fucking shit. How hard is it to work together to complete common objectives and treat each other civilly in the process?

Who knew that playing a video game would subject me to dealing with craploads of interpersonal drama?

LOL, if you were in EQ it would be 20x worse, training mobs on other guilds, competing for the same spawn all the time, racing etc..

Halx 10-17-2005 07:49 AM

Well my raid group finally beat Ragnaros this weekend.. on my birthday. This may not seem like a great deal to most, but for being a release server, my server is WAY far behind. We were the 4th Alliance and 5th overall group to kill him. We had to survive 2 waves of sons to do it! It was quite satisfying.

Nicely done! Did you pick up your legs?

as crazy as it sounds, for the purposes they are for, Stormrage Legguards are vastly inferior to Salamander Scale Pants and Cenarion Leggings. I will be passing when they do drop.

Yeah, just checked them all on thottbot. GG Blizzard itemization! The hunter tier 1 and 2 epic sets have some weird stuff going on, too. I'm not sure that the Dragonstalker chest and legs are really all that much meaningfully better than Giantstalker. Weird.

Do you mean 14/32/5? I was considering speccing that way but I'd lose too much in restoration so I ended up going 30/21. I still have to heal in BWL and MC and I hate having my rejuv's being overridden by others. Having 8k mana is nice though, I'm loving feral. I didn't have much feral gear though so I went to the AH and bought the warbear gear since it has decent stats but then I looked like this:

http://img436.imageshack.us/img436/7...bear6yl.th.jpg

Ah well, I'll just wear my guild tabard. To complete my gear, I just need a feral cloak, shoulders, weapon and rings. I can get the cloak and shoulders once I get exalted in AB but getting a good weapon will be harder since I vendored a really nice mace from a quest. Maybe I can get some guild AV's going and get exalted in AV. Getting that feral druid mace from the new dragons would be really nice though.

-Ever- 10-18-2005 08:51 PM

Grats Halx. We beat him for the first time this Saturday as well. Man I love seeing practice pay off.

The MC run was insane by the way. Three Earthfury pieces, Aurastone, Staff of Destruction, and Finkles!

Zeraph 10-18-2005 09:12 PM

I've been away from the game for awhile and I've been thinking of coming back and trying warlock (my original class, never got past 23 tho) on a Non-PvP server, horde side (since all my major ones have been on alliance.) Anyone playing on one (Non-PvP server, horde side)? I've forgotten who's where by now and I don't feel like looking through 28ish pages. IIRC though I think most of you play on pvp servers or alliance.

Lasereth 10-18-2005 09:43 PM

Man you guys on PvE servers are crazy. :) Why play WoW? To get better armor. Why get better armor? To look cooler so the enemy faction will be afraid. What does armor do? It makes you stronger...so you can kill the enemy faction easier. The entire game is based around PVP! What's the fun of killing stuff over and over again just to get better armor if you're not actually gonna be in real-environment combat? It's like spending huge amounts of money on a car but not racing it. Am I missing something!? I can't imagine WoW without PVP outside of BGs...that's the sole reason I played the game for so long. I loved PVP and I loved a good challenge. :)

-Lasereth

ObieX 10-18-2005 10:20 PM

You can flip on /pvp at any time if you want that pvp experience. Trust me there's plenty of people who will line up to try to kill you when they see that red name cross anywhere near them, even on a pve server. On my server there's usually a few different PVP things going on at any time if you want to do it while waiting between battlegrounds/raids etc. Southshore vs. Tarren Mill is always a popular one.

The main benefit of non-pvp servers is the huge reduction on grief. HUUUUUUGE reduction on grief. Can't possibly stress that enough. :p

..(huge)

I play plenty of FPS games, i don't want to play WoW like that 100% of the time. It's an RPG not a FPS *shrugs*.

Besides it's not true pvp unless you can kill everyone ;)

ObieX 10-18-2005 11:57 PM
