Yeah, Plur. That's it. I'll be sure to look out for any of you Heroes of the Universe. There won't be any honor involved when I find you on the battlefield. ;)

Bauer_Power 01-07-2005 03:19 AM

All I have to say is that Shamans are the best class in the game. Anyone on Illidan PvP server, look up Moojuice the taurne shaman and we will go stomp some alliance. Gnome hatred was started by my friends and I in the old school EQ days. The gnomes must die.

Gabbyness 01-07-2005 05:20 AM

Myself and a bunch of buddies just rolled Horde on Darkspear. Look up Lloyd or Jobber if you want to spank some lame elves.

asshopo 01-07-2005 06:43 AM

Heh, I cant find a copy in Detroit anywhere. I seriously called like 10 places within 10 miles of me and no place has a copy. :(

Stompy 01-07-2005 08:10 AM

Yeah, this game is hard as shit to find right now. I had to order it from amazon.

mwscircle 01-07-2005 07:21 PM

So what lvl are you guys and by any chance you guys are you playing on a server gorgonash or ticondrius? if you guys ever need help on those 2 server feel free to PM me

asshopo 01-10-2005 08:01 PM

Well, we found it! (Stompy and I). We had to drive about 30 miles out of our way to get it from a well known electronics/media store, but we went and got it. What was amusing is they had like 20 copies of it and no other location so of this store had *1* copy. It's as if the people in that area couldn't afford games or something . Anyhoo, WELL WORTH THE DRIVE!

This game is awesome so far. I have played Ultima Online (still do, actually) and FFXI (whcih I canceled), and WoW is by far the best game out right now.

I've had it since Friday night and I'm a lvl 11 Undead Mage on Zul'Jin. The quest system is so much better than anything else I have seen. I love the idea that you CAN party but you aren't required to. Makes playing by yourself alot easier than in FFXI or UO.

I will be playing this game alot, that is for sure!

twister002 01-10-2005 09:35 PM

wow, I've had the game for about a month now and I'm only a lvl 10 warrior. How do you folks level up so fast? Of course I only put in maybe an hour or so every other night. Been playing more lately. I still can't figure out how to use an axe. I bought the cheap-o, bottom level axe from a merchant but it says "I don't know how to use that.". IT'S AN AXE, SWING IT! What skill do I need and how do I get it? To improve my dagger and mace skill I just used a dagger and a club for a while.

seretogis 01-10-2005 10:06 PM

I have a 60 undead mage on Mannoroth, with the same name. Stop by and say hi ~

Attrah - 47 Human Paladin on Illidan.
Rerolled to play with friends on Horde.
Feelun - 45 Tauren Shaman on Illidan.

Advice to those who may be buying the game soon,if you can avoid it..DO NOT PLAY ON HIGH POPULATION SERVERS.

Save yourself some time and grief.Lag and high concentrations of asshats will drive you insane.Did I mention the queue?

Spent about 4 hours Friday night, about 8 hours Saturday and 8+ on Sunday. And these times were between taking care of the wife (who's sick) and the kids.

You need to find a weapons master in one of the bigger cities. They can train you on new weapons. However not all weapons masters can teach all weapons.

Hrm, I think asshopo played longer than I did. I only have a grand total of 8 hours in the game and I have both a lv 12 undead rogue AND a lv.. 8 (? I forget right now) dwarf hunter. Then again, I'm a melee char and can kill things farily quickly and in succession (especially with rogue, damn they are fast and powerful!). I'd imagine it's harder for a mage because you can't get hit directly and you need to take more time out to heal health/mana. My rogue's energy bar (and health, via the undead cannibalize ability) is always pretty much full.

Not sure if you're just fighting monsters or what, but if you do the quests you gain very quickly. Most of the quests are "find this and that" or "kill 10 [character]" or "take this to so-and-so"

And only certain weapons can be taught to each class. But as a warior you'll be fine, just ask a guard in a capital city for the weapons trainer.

I got to level 12 in four hours (one sitting). You just have to get every quest, then run straight to them and do them. I slowed down a lot recently because of trade skills and other issues.

Right now I have a 34 Night Elf Priest and a 33 Night Elf Warrior. I want a mage but don't feel like making a third character until I get both of my current characters above 40.

Well guys I finally signed up for WoW. The game came out nearing my college finals and I forced myself to not play until I got things done. I just got home from a long winter break and am up and running with WoW! However the Bloody Hollow server, which most of you are on, is pretty full so I'm playing in:

Mal'Ganis as a Tauren Shaman for now under the name Whorpe.

Hope all is well with your guys' wow.

What's your name and level? I've been looking to start another character, so maybe I should join up on Mal'ganis.

Hey guys, I've been grinding for mount money the last three days, it's gettin kinda old.

76.5 gold= 13.5 to go

twister002 01-12-2005 11:29 PM

hehehe, man I'm probably not questing fast enough. It takes me a while to even FIND the area the quest is in. I also die a lot on the quests. I'm trying to finish the "help the sleeping druids by gathering the relics" (damned if I know the name) quest now but everytime I go into the barrow den I get swarmed by 4 or 5 gnarlpine shamens and warriors. Plus I'm a warrior, does that affect how fast you level up? I started another character, an undead warlock and I think I got to level 3 or 4 after only an hour or so of playing.

It could also be that I just inherently suck at MMO's hehehe. I remember wandering around Ultima Online and never getting above lever 3 I think. I never made it out of the newbie area in Anarchy Online. At least this one is more fun than those two.

Stompy 01-13-2005 09:07 AM

I'll be starting on the Bleeding Hollow server soon.

Right now I'm on Zul'jin with a few friends and co-workers, but I've been wanting to change to a pvp server (or at least have a character on one).

You level up pretty quickly in this game so.. it's not as much of a pain "starting over" (although I will be a race/class I haven't been before, so it'll still be a new experience!)

portwineboy 01-13-2005 11:04 AM

Well, I can't find WoW anywhere NYC or online. I'm even tempted to hit eBay but it's going for at least $70. Hopefully be joining back up next week. I've missed it since the betas.

twister002 01-13-2005 02:07 PM

I had no problem buying it at the Fry's here in WA. That's weird that everyone is reporting all these shortages. Maybe I should go buy a bunch on spec? hehehe

kennusion 01-13-2005 05:27 PM

Bleh. I'd like to get it but I don't know.. MMORPGs are pretty evil.

You should, they are going for 70-80 on eBay.

twister002 01-14-2005 09:35 AM

hehehehe, cool.

I just created an undead warlock and I'm noticing a difference in how fast I level up with a warlock vs. with a warrior. i've put in about 2 hours into my warlock and I'm level 5. I've put in about 7 hours into my warrior and I'm level 11. Anyone else noticing that the warrior class is on the short bus?

Xenomorph 01-14-2005 09:51 AM

The warrior character in my group of friends is several levels above everyone else. He plays a bit more but the rest of us but he's disproportionately higher. I think it's because their "rage" system makes it easier for them to grind through 5-10 green mobs than it would be for characters limited by their ability points or mana.

The warrior class fucking sucks. There's no getting around it. They're the only class in WoW that needs a major renovation. The rage system is worthless and the miss rate is terrible. I've played my warrior to 34 only because I have hopes of them fixing warriors (and because they look really cool).

Your friend simply plays more or does quests faster. The Warrior class is the most weak class in the game all around. See my above post for more information. :)

I finally joined WoW since the open beta. I'm level 13 now and am really realizing how true your statement is. I'm experiencing such different parts of the game that I knew existed before but never experienced. I'm basically always overwhelmed knowing I'm missing out on other quests in the world every time I level but I guess having various characters would change this.

My Hunter reached lvl 47 this morning.
My enchanting Business is really taking off. lvl 230 - I Ctrl-V my list of enchants:
"
enchants: +5 stamina to boots, +50 health to chest, +5 strength to gloves, +5 intellect to bracers, +50 armor to cloak, +3 all resists to cloak, +5 agility to gloves, +5 stamina to shield :: 2g each :: Minor Beastslaying to Weapon :: 1g :: - PST!
"
in the trade channel. I make about ten gold an hour.
My supplies are bound to run out soon though :(

People actually buy that at your prices on your server!? Damn! On our server, there's tons of high level enchanters and the market is basically flooded. My skill is 225, and I can't sell any of those you listed for more than 45s else I get outbid by another enchanter doing it lower. Minor beastslaying goes for like 30s on our server! Enchanting is a ripoff on the huge servers. I bet I've still not made back the money I dumped into the skill raises yet!

one of the many benefits to being on a low population server :)

Yeah I've never used the auction house until the past few days and I sold two bars of regular silver (2s to the NPC's) for 15s at the AH. I'm really enjoying the low-population server as well ;)

I've got 2 characters on Proudmoore, Nishan (level 27 shaman ) and Kagani (level 23 warrior) I didn't realize you guys had a group together. When my server is down again I might make a guy on your servers.

Frosstbyte 01-18-2005 02:48 PM

Kaesth (17 night elf hunter) on the Shattered Hand server. I'm tying up the remaining quest loose ends in Auberdine before I figure out some new place to hunt, though I still need to do all the Tower-related stuff and that requires level 30 or something. Whatever. It's so delightfully addicting. If only my computer didn't suck so much. I need more RAM.

I have a question about the "rest" state...

I'm on a normal server at the moment and have 2 chars. I'm at lv 19 with my main guy, but lv 8 (i think) w/ my other.

I haven't played my lv 8 guy in about... a week. If I log in with him, will my rest state be enormous for that character, or does it take into account that I've played my other character in the meantime and not give me as much time?

(I suppose I could just login, play, and find out, heh..)

Rest amounts are seperate for each character. If you leave your character in an Inn for a long time, you can gain up to 1.5 levels of rested experience. 1.5 levels is the cap -- after that leaving your character in an Inn does nothing.

Drider_it 01-18-2005 11:18 PM

k im a lvl 40 human mage now on lothar i have 226 tailor and 250 enchanting.. to the enchanters out there on alliance.. sorry for horde dont know yet.. no that high of lvl on warsong with my undead mage..

at +225 enchanting your capped.. until you get into the uldaman instance located at loch modan sound into the badlands hook a right upon entering the zone .. you have to kill a group of scorpions to get the master enchanter to spawn.. and its 5g but.. everytime you get enchanting up to train you gotta go back there .. thank god for my guild.

save save save and stay the hell outta the auction houses.. at lvl 30 when you get 10g mail it to your alternate character.. when you hit lvl 40 you will have your mount im lvl 40 and i have 5g to my name sigh. well 45g now.

kill humanoids they drop cloth, coins and best items list in the game.. non humanoids will drop vendor loots and items but still your best bet for that loot is humanoids. unless you have skinning.. my best advice.. start with skinning and mining put it all up on the AH or sell it.. quick cash that way. when you get to lvl 40 and got your mount pick up the profs you want and go farming .. note at higher lvls the toons in the game will ignore you completly depending on thier lvls.. at lvl 40 i have to stand on top of a lvl 13 spider to get it to attack

btw im at combustion in fire talent.. i pwned a lvl 60 orc warrior tonight at lvl 40 granted two lvl 55 pallys was on his arse.. i hit him with a 100% high lvl firebal.. with all my talents and the fireball rank i did 2.1k overall dmg to him with the added dps.

i have 1992 over 30 mana drink water now cuts downtime to nothing.

if your fire mage still buy the arcane and frost spells.. frost nova saves you mana shield pwns and blink is godly.

i perfer a 1h dagger or 1h sword with a orb or such in the off hand .. i got one now that gives +12 fire dmg to fire spells but its lvl 42 in the bank heh

get tailor if you are gonna go enchanting. make those items and disenchant them. plus you wear cloth.

get portals and teleport they are great.. just hearth where you are farming teleport to train hearth back.. repeat. quests are great but for a mage 99% of the material rewards are pointless ive disenchanted every reward ive gotten ... i grind mostly quest with friends.. and rest exp is your godsend. always log in an inn or in a city that has the "zzz" in your char portrate

helpful hints.. shift + right click on windows os is a quick way to auto loot you get everything and then you can move on or skin.

enchanting an item will replace another say reinforced armor kits and shield spikes for example make sure thats what you want

at low lvl prof in tailoring and enchanting just make stuff disenchant and collect the regents.. make a blacksmithing friend along the way.. why the rods you gotta have them to make the runed ones.

spiders drop the spider's silk youll need that for tailoring.. robe of power .. its bind on pickup i.e. once its created only the tailor can use it. good robe till you find better.

elite toons are tough.. you might tank a lvl 36 at lvl 36 but even at lvl 36 and elite lvl 28 can kill you if your not careful

and rememeber players dont have the resisits that toons have.. your fireball or such might get resisted constantly by a toon but on a player heh you will own them..

open with a long range nuke spell.. my fireball and pryoblast are 41 yrds range.. most horde forget this aspect trying to get in close on a raid just to have a 600-800 fireball land in thier lap if ignite procs they are in serious trouble.

soloing melee toons is the best casters will own you quick.. dampen magic is your friend.

cone of cold, blastwave, arcane explosion, and fireblast are nice ways to pull a mob before someone else can.. down side they get it first you lose the rights and have a grey'd out mob on your arse run lol.

put intelect buffs on everyone especially priests druids and pallys.. druids mark of the wild is pwnage for a mage and the stam buff from a priest dont hurt at all

when given a chance start a warlock .. void walker makes a good tank for you.. get herb and alchemy make those pots why.. alot of tailoring and enchanting requires items an alchemist makes plus the pots are nice for a mage..

remember def pots will stack with a pallys devotion aura hehe

for a hunter at certian lvls you need certian pets to learn abilities.. like bite claw and cower.. the night elf ghost paw will teach ya bite 3 and the bears claw .. pet trainers will teach growl sigh ..

at lvl 40 hunters get mail at lvl 20 dual wield.. so far ive used guns the most with my dwarven hunter miner/engineer

NOTE: scopes will work on a bow strange but true

buffing a pvp enabled toon or player will make you pvp heh same with snowballs gotta love that.

ctrl +s turns off the sound .. alt +z clears the huds and stuff so you got a good view for a screen shot.

if your mail is laggy trying to send stuff include 1copper or leave that area completely..

Ironforge is the ban.. from low end to top end systems .. its not your puter its their server ..

if you play a rogue ill disown you if you dont 1st try to pickpocket before tanking a toon that is pickpocket able.

agro range is a pain.. saw a lvl 14 dwarf step into the bad lands and try to reach us as we watched from a mile away a lvl 36 wolf flew passed us to eat him.

best places to grind exp.. stranglevale ventrue co and the sv tigeress they drop a good dagger those cats do..

also theramore along the coast.. the turtles.. the shell frag at a stack sells for a ton of silver. and they are non hostile but beware nuke one and if another is close they both come for you

im mage bias if you havent noticed. they are fun deal a ton of dmg but you generate a ton of agro.. let the party wear on a toon then nuke it. they nerfed the warriors taunt already so becareful.

on my enchants i have +5 to mining, fishing, herb, and skinning hehe +7 to a ton of stuff, +30 shields armor, +50 cloak armor . demon slaying 5.8g a pop on lothar good coins there. +3 resist all cloak +2 all stats.. i havent had the chance to get back to uldaman to get the rest due to saving for mount.

whats everyones factions at.. im almost through honored with hinterlands, booty bay, IF and SW

*end transmission*

Any new enchants after lvl 250 have to be learned through the AH or drops ... its a bummer.

bltzkriegmcanon 01-21-2005 06:29 PM

We're on Bleeding Hollow, dabossy2k. Just tell your friend to be prepared for some serious PvP action once he hits 20+.

Can anyone in the TFP Bleeding Hollow guild tell me the classes of characters in the group? I'm considering slowly building one to play with you guys and I might base my character choice on improving the guild to an extent (no priests though ;) )

bltzkriegmcanon 01-22-2005 08:42 PM

We've got it all, -Ever-. Priests, warriors, paladins, mages, druids, rogues, and warlocks. To be honest, we can always use more priests, warlocks, mages and rogues. In that order. Whether you like to be a priest or not, there's no denying their ultra-usefulness in grouping situations. Warlocks too. Especially the ones who have NO problem summoning someone. Jesus. There's always a "problem" with someone getting summoned. I just don't get it.

You didn't mention where Shamans stand! I'm a 20 Tauren Shaman on Mal'Ganis and loving it. I'd consider carrying it's build over to Bloody Hollow if desired.

The TFP guild on Bleeding Hollow is gay...er, alliance. I play an undead rogue on BH, but rarely see anyone from their guild. And if I do, one of us is usally dead before even a /wave can be had.

We're probably gonna transfer the entire guild to another server when they allow server changes. Bleeding Hollow is the most populated server in all of WoW. We didn't mean to choose the most populated server, but for some reason by chance it just happened. The lag is terrible at night due to overcrowding.

The Closed Beta server had 1,500 players on it. Our server now has nearly 30,000 players. That's an idea of how overcrowded it is.

When Blizzard posts server switch information we'll update!

-Lasereth

Zeraph 01-23-2005 05:16 PM

Yeah I was just about to come here to complain/and ask if anyone else was getting sick of the lag on BH. Ive started like 5 alts on other servers waiting for the server switch. What Im wondering though is if they will allow us to choose the server we go to?

Las, you meant to say server where you kept saying "guild"?

Zeraph 01-23-2005 05:18 PM

Ah i just thought of something, I hope the server option(s) arnt the ones that I already have horde chars on. Las you should poll your guild ahead of time to see if there are a significant number of people who have horde chars on other servers and wouldnt be willing to delete them if it came to that.

Lasereth 01-23-2005 05:52 PM

Yeah, I typo'ed a few times. Sorry for the confusion (I fixed it). We're definitely gonna choose a server that no one has any horde characters on. We know for sure it won't be Boulderfist.

Whoohoo...

I got my hands on WoW and started playing this last weekend...level 11 human warlock on Destromath...name's Laurelin...give a wave if you see me.

I know I'm not the only girl who plays WoW but sometimes it sure feels like it! :)

Yes, please do! I've already got a couple of my own girl friends playing on Destromath. So any other girlies would appreciated. I want to start an all-girl guild. :D

Jadedfox 01-25-2005 01:27 AM

If you are looking to switch to a low population PvP server, Dethecus is a great choice. It's an awesome PvP environment since everyone knows each other with organized raids from both horde and alliance.

Drider_it 01-26-2005 10:31 PM

in our guild Enigma collective on lothar its alliance and on horde (we just started this week) its Enigma Syndicate both on lothar.. for a pve there sure is a hella lot of pvp going on.. southshore (tarren mill) and cross roads in the barrens is alway a pvp fest

i recoment tarren mill.. you have an allance town with guards and a horde town with guards .. equal distance much fun.. although too much agro and you can drag the guards to the other town which turns nasty and a lag fest from hell.

SitizenVZ 01-27-2005 12:45 AM

I'm really getting sick of the queues on Kel'thuzad, but i'm reluctant to start all over again. I leveled 1 guy too 60 and 1 too 40 on there already.

-Ever- 01-28-2005 11:30 AM

Onyxia goes down!

The group responsible is on one of the very recently created Korean servers. The same group supposedly leveled a mage to 60 in three days :hmm:

Keep in mind that the Koreans were allowed to keep their old closed beta characters. They did NOT level from 1-60, gear up, and drop Onyxia in two months as those of us on US retail servers have been trying to do. They have a 10 month advantage on US players at the moment.

Onions 01-29-2005 01:47 PM

The time advantage is very minimal, their beta was only 1 month. Most high end guilds have been keyed and equipped for a while. However it seems as though the version beaten was only the CB version that doesn't spawn whelps. This would have been downed on every server two weeks ago if they didn't have that emergency patch to change her.

What exactly was changed?

Onions 01-30-2005 11:12 AM

When she goes into flight during stage 2, she is supposed to be spawning whelps the whole time. In that version, no whelps spawn and stage two is essentially a joke.

Frosstbyte 01-30-2005 01:18 PM

Apparently being level 25 doesn't give you access to all this crazy stuff, and I'm not really willing to paw through the forums trying to find the answer. Who the hell is Onyxia and why is it such a big deal to kill her?

Blaspheme 01-30-2005 02:51 PM

Onyxia is a Big Mean Dragon. She's the first of the raid encounters for strong guilds. They all want to kill her so they can get uber gear, which will let them kill the next raid boss, who will drop uber gear needed to kill the raid boss after that....ad infinitum. ;)

Mr.Deflok 01-31-2005 02:09 AM

Trouble is that everyone who takes her down needs to roll for the unique items!

I'm focusing on bringing my Troll Hunter up to 40+ at the mo, unfortunately Hunters are pretty much useless in Onyxia like cases. At some stage in the future I'll make a Warlock and bring him up with a party to bring that big bitch down.

Don't get too excited. I have a level 60 paladin and I must confess I'm pretty bored at the moment. The "end game" instances are insanely difficult and requires a nice balanced group which is hard to find on a low population server. Fortunately, the rest of my guild is catching up so we will be able to complete them all soon (not Onyxia or similar raid instances).

I rolled a mage and I'm currently leveling that toon. Mages are so fun! What a contrast to pallies dps wise.

Maybe some of you out there who have played more can give me a bit of direction on this, since this is something that's been bugging me since I started playing. What, exactly, are hunters supposed to be good at? This isn't some silly game balance "they're better than I am why don't I get 1337 sk1llz etc." I'm legitimately interested to know how people who have been playing hunters use them, especially in large-scale battles and groups, to the greatest effect. The hunter skill-set and style matches very well with what I want to do, but I feel like I'm dragging on groups because I don't know how to use those skills as well as I might. Any advice?

Oh, feel free to PM me instead of spamming this thread with responses.

Simply put, Hunters are a solo class. They're pretty much as good as, if not better than any other class at solo but in group situations they fall a bit flat as their attacks are based on range, and their attacks not too strong. Regardless the Hunter is damn fun to play as.

I also alway enjoy grouping with hunters because I'm a shaman and the more tanks (ie the hunter's pets), the better

00111000 01-31-2005 02:20 PM

I am currently a 44 Hunter on Destromath. Hunters do excel at the solo game and can aslo do quite well in instances and other groups. The problem is that there are so many Hunters out there that when people have a bad experience with one they tend to lump them all together.

I do fairly well in instances as long as I keep my aggro under control and lil'buddy on passive. In large scale battles you need to be Johnny on the spot. Make quick decisions, keep aggro off the healers with distracting shot, use the pet to tank adds and use the right stings for the situation. If you have volley you should use that once the mage(if there is one) starts his AoE. If you don't have a mage with you use your best judgement. Make sure you assist and do not wake mobs that have been sheeped or put to sleep. Use your traps to thier fullest extent and remember if you or your pet is not in combat you can still lay a trap down. Communication is key during instance runs. Every one in the party should know what the others are doing at all times. Get in a few good groups and you'll be wanted.

PvP is damn fun for a Hunter. I like to sneak around the sides of the battle and pick off healers and casters. Aimed shot does wonders here. You can time it so that if you hit the concussive shot about 1/2 second before the aimed shot fires you will get them both off right after each other, after that I nail them with a viper sting to drain mana. If you have engineering as a trade skill you can also use the bombs to some extent, they will not do a lot of damage but they will cause confusion at certain times. A nice goblin sapper charge can take out 5 or 6 people with low health all at once.

Lasereth 01-31-2005 08:15 PM

My priest and warrior are both less than 1/4 of a level to 40. I have enough gold for my mounts but my fuckin brother borrowed 120g from me the other day so I'm running a tad low. :(

I defend the Alliance! The only time I attack is when someone else (horde) are on top attacking and ganking people. So I go up there and own them. And I sometimes go up there to ponder the meaning of life and take screenshots

Here's a little something for the kids: this happened earlier with FIREBALL! Not even Pyroblast. Just regular Fireball.
<img src="http://www.appstate.edu/~jt52439/shot3.jpg">

And also this: This is definitely Pyroblast (big fireball spell, "ICBM" as some guildmates lovingly call it). I was astounded. I'm only level 51, not at the level cap of 60 yet at all:
