Mal'Ganis realm-

Have a small, personal guild on the server. We broke up to reform recently and just wanted to put out a quick advertisment for the guild. It's a very relaxed, interactive, fun group. If anything we're just friends as we talk a lot and share stories. We don't play together a ton yet as we're working on leveling in various parts of the world. The only thing we really focus on and require is respectfulness, progressings eachother's professions and sharing the output, and pro-guild mindset when it comes to helping eachother out.

Whisper waffle, whorpe (me), or bleeder if you want to talk about joining up.

Follow Mages (or have played a Mage),
I hit lvl 30 a few days ago (now I am 32) and it feels like I hit a brickwall. I have to recharge my mana after every single battle (against one foe and no I am not using those extraordinarily inefficient AoE spells. I only use Arcane Missles when I get a Clearcast). If I get an add my Agate coupled with Evoc. sometimes cannot save me. Are the lvls 30-40 simply some kind of hump that a mage simpy has to get through? Any thoughts, suggestions, help? Much appreciated. Thanks

Tho I don't have any suggestions, I can say the same for my rogue. I am in Desolace which is where I am supposed to be around level 32, but I find it extreemly hard to beat anything that is my level or higher. It also doesn't help when there are maybe 5-10 other people in the area at the same time and most of them are higher level :-/. I'm wondering if I need to head back to Hillsbrad or something.

-Ever- 03-06-2005 11:58 AM

I've heard that sometimes quickly killing mobs a few levels below your level is a good way to go about things. It wasn't until I recently got a awesome dagger/shield setup that I was comfortably solo'ing even levels because my dps was simply too low.

SitizenVZ 03-06-2005 05:35 PM

Almost any class should be able to solo a single non-elite mob at 1 or 2 levels above you. If you can't maybe it's time to take a trip to the AH and get some new gear, or rethink your talent spec. Remember, you don't need the hardcore grouping talents until you're 60 really, most of the grouping content pre-60 can be done easily with any build.

Where are you currently questing/Grinding? It sounds like you're either doing too difficult mobs (+2 your level) or have an inefficient talent build going. I didn't have many problems at 32. A good grinding spot at 32-33 are the naga's in desolace. You can find them on the island in the north western corner of the map. Or you could head down to PvP happy stranglethorn vale and do the abundance of quests there.

My usual spell combo at that level was fireball, fireball, arcane missiles x2, fireblast. Or fireball, fireball, frostnova, fireball, AM until dead. You shouldn't have too many problems doing that. Check out the official mage forum for a good solo build (31 arcane/20 fire).

That zone is a complete waste of time due to pvp. Like taking one step forward and three steps back to complete a quest. I rocked Desolace and SM until I could get to Feralas, completely skipping over that jungle hellhole.

Not high enough of a level to know what it's like there. Maybe it's comparable to Hillsbrad?

seretogis 03-08-2005 10:51 PM

My guild dropped Onyxia the other day! It's a very fun / interesting fight, but not really worth the time for the rewards. :( It would be easier to just farm the first few MC bosses and get the same amount (or more) loot.

That's sweet Seretogis. A question, how much fire resistance gear do you need to even bother with Onyxia? I'm assuming you'll be in a group with a Pally/Shaman so they can give you 60%, but how much do you need to have equipped?

The people asking about fighting enemies the same level or 1-2 levels above:

Waste of time!! When soloing, the most efficient method is fighting enemies 5-8 levels below you. My warrior can solo enemies 7-8 levels below easily without stopping and gets 250 EXP each rested. Fighting enemies even 2-3 levels below is a waste...too much downtime. Greens are the way to go. Faster, more money, and no downtime (casters will always have downtime due to their mana...it'll be much less though).

I went to Scarlet Monastery on my priest and warrior at 36 and didn't fuckin leave until they were both 41-42. My warrior solo'ed in Arathi until 44 and now I'm in the Uldaman phase where every dumbass fucking fuckwit all form together to die at the first boss everyday. It's good EXP but man I hate dying. This game has the biggest bunch of idiots I've ever seen in a single location.

Interesting. I did a little bit of the opposite. I solo'ed Arathi (besides Stromgarde) until 37 when there wasn't any more quests. Now I'm in Stranglethorn and plan on heading to SM pretty soon when I can do a little more of the work and not have to rely on the idiots you're talking about ;)

I totally know what you're saying about downtime though. I enjoy killing lvl 34-35's and getting 190 unrested rather than having tons of downtime between killing 37's for however much more. At 38 I get to use my donkey-knocker epic mace though so I'm hoping to be able to kill even levels as fast as I was able to kill lower ;)

Hey Las, what talent build do you have on your warrior?

I started up a warrior and I'm trying to raise my crit rate as high as possible. So I'm going to aim for axe specialization on the arms tree and getting some talents in fury to help me as well.

Gabbyness 03-12-2005 10:00 PM

Anyone else have problems with the forums? Every time I look at them, they're stuck at the posts that were current at about 11 PM on 3/11, despite the fact that the little clock in the forum window clearly reads 3/13. With all the crap going on with hunters and the new patch, I'd like to be keeping up to date.

Wait, what's going on with hunter? Huh?

Man, I'm looking into a new game, I think it's called Light and Dark. I'm getting tired of Blizzard and their crappy servers.

My warrior is full fury. It's a major sacrifice not having MS and axe specialization + 2H damage increase but fury is just insane. I love it. My current crit record is 1756 non-execute and 3896 execute. :) Soloing is VERY easy with fury. The only reason I haven't switched to arms is the fact that I'd lose a 30% haste that I usually have for most of a battle and bloodthirst (100% damage next hit after you kill something). I'm going all fury just for those two awesome talents. I really wish I had enough to get the axe specialization in arms, though...the Whirlwind ability in Berserker Stance makes up for MS in most cases. Oh, and Fury has Deathwish which makes me annihilate warlocks and most priests.

Haha, maybe I'm the only one... but I haven't really had a problem with lag or server issues.

Maybe a few times in the few months I've been playing, like the AH taking forever to respond sometimes as well as the authentication server being down for 15 mins max.

Other than that, I'm not quite sure what all the fuss is about.

Our server has over 30,000 players. Sometimes at night, there's a 1-2 second lag on everything you do. It's rare to be world-wide, but last night it was definitely happening. The AH also lags to hell at night. Other than those two issues, there's nothing to complain about.

Of course, when many people say "lag" they refer to video lag in IF caused by their computers not being up to par. There is a difference between connection lag and video lag and most people do not know the difference. They say that IF lags too much and that they're going at 3 FPS and that Blizzard really needs to fix their servers so it won't do it. Not true, the 3 FPS is caused by your videocard and RAM. The AH lag is Blizzard's part, however.

I do agree with the IF video lag. I have a 6800 GT, Barton 2500+ CPU, and 768 MB of RAM. My PC runs at 20-35 FPS in IF...everywhere else in the world it runs at 50-60 FPS. I know it's because of the massive character amounts. Fine, find a way for our PCs to load them faster! Damn. When I log into IF, my PC also locks up for a few seconds two or three times before IF is fully loaded with all the players. This is another issue that needs to be fixed. WoW loads characters in a really inefficient manner if it's causing a top of the line videocard with 768 MB of system RAM to go at 0 FPS until it "loads" for 15 seconds.

-Lasereth

Gabbyness 03-14-2005 01:52 PM

Las,

I feel the pain too. When I hearth into Orgimmar my comp will freeze for a solid 10 seconds while it processes everyone/everything that's there.

This is on a AMD FX-55 w/ SLi 6800GTs and 2k RAM. Should that be happening? Oh, I don't think so.

killeena 03-16-2005 06:54 AM

When I was playing last weekend, our server crashed, and I ended up losing a level because of it. Bleah. I have noticed Zul'Jin Slowly getting worse, as population increases. Bloodscalp is still low population though, I have no problems on there.

Gabbyness 03-16-2005 07:02 AM

Being on a low-pop server, as I am, is such a double-edged sword. When you do a /who priest, there are like 4 on around my level (57) at any given time. Try finding an instance group that way, *shudder*

It happens alot, and as you know Im on your server. Server will end up having issues. Example, you die, you release spirit and pop up at the cemetary only to not be able to return to your body. So you log out, only, the server is so backed up, it logs out of the channels, but not out of the game. So then you close Wow and reload it, trying to login, only to have your "char is already logged in" for over 30 mins. Or there are times that you are fighting a mob, you run away, and it still hits you from over 100 yards away. Or literally 1-2 second lag between button mashing and your char doing what you told it to do.

Our server is now high population (not sure on numbers), so that means we can have some of the same issues as the older high population servers have/had.

I agree, I've got chars on both. My main is on BH though, and I can't decide if I should move when (if) they allow the char transfers from high to low pop servers. Im in a great guild on BH (Blades of Penance) but if I moved I'd loose the guild, plus have the quoted problem above, though it might be better than not being able to play at all some of the time on BH.

I took a break for about a month and came back to somehow worse problems with the servers, and Im really surprised with blizzard, they are normally soooo cautious and here they royally screwed up with the servers.

Amen!! Zul'jin is getting worse by the day. If Zul'jin is eligible for the new character transfer I would seriously consider it. I did notice the Bleeding Hollow is on the list and I am wondering if anyone who plays here is considering it? Sacrifice your built-in social structure for a new "problem free" server? Something to think about.

There's so many fuckin sound bugs in WoW that I don't even use the sound. My sound goes apeshit staticky after a few minutes of playtime. The bad part is that I've been reporting this bug since the beginning of Closed Beta <I>a year ago</I> and they still haven't fixed it. :( Your problem I've heard of though...I'm pretty sure there's a solution. Additionally, problems with sound? That's weird. I didn't know there were any of those. Of course, I usually turn mine off and run my iPod through my stereo with a mini-to-RCA adapter because I'd rather listen to that anyway, but of the five guys in my house who have the game, I don't remember something like that happening to any of us.

Lasereth 03-17-2005 07:57 AM

Many of the sound problems are specific to certain soundcards or integrated sound chips. I'm pretty sure my nForce SoundStorm chip is causing the problem, but Blizzard should have fixed any compatibility issues by now. Tons of motherboards use nVIDIA audio...I'm actually surprised more people aren't complaining.

So far I've tried Engineering/Alchemy/Tailoring and Leatherworking. I find Alchemy to be the most useful and has made me some ok cash. Potions are a godsend in PvP if you're a non healing class...which you are not, but you can make many others that can turn the tide of the battle for you. I would not suggest engineering since it is a money pit and you can really only sell the stuff you make to other engineers. Other than EZ-throw dynamite and a few guns the green lens is my best seller engineering wise. The good side to engineering is bombs...man are they fun, nothing like sending a few exploding sheep into the fray!

If you want to make money most people suggest gathering professions. Mining, herbalisim and skinning are the three gathering ones. You can sell what you pick up in the AH for a decent amount of coin but it very unpredictable what will sell from day to day.

If you want pick up first aid/fishing/cooking. They are all secondary professions and do not count against your primary ones. Fishing is now the most singularly boring thing to do in the game but can be bought up fairly high if you dedicate an hour or so to it. If you do take alchemy get your fishing up a bit so you can catch blackmouths and firefins which are needed for some potions. First aid is great for downtime recovery but is really not needed if you're a druid since you have the healing. Cooking goes well with fishing and you can move them up at the same time, cooking what you fish. There are a few really good cooking recipes out there that grant bonuses to your stats and the ever fun dragon breath chili.

Tradeskills are fun in this game but hardly pay out anything for the time invested in them. They are a great diversion to the level grind though and I recommend at least trying a few out to see what you like.

Halx 03-17-2005 03:28 PM

Can I create two characters, on separate servers, in case this happens again and I can't friggin' play?

00111000 03-17-2005 03:43 PM

Hit 60 on my Paladin about a week ago, end game atm is pretty boring since there's really no real reason to go PvP besides pissing off newbs. Trying to get a full suit of Lightforge (Paladin set) aside from the gloves and boots the set is nice. I have better gloves than the set gloves atm, so I'll most likely just keep those and try to get Valor boots or some other better boots. As far as professions go Halx, if you're a Druid the best professions to pick up would be Skinning/Leatherworking. That way you can skin the leather needed to craft your own armor if you keep your skill up with your character lvl. That's just imo, you can go any profession, but Skinning/Leatherworking seems to work best with classes that strictly wear leather. Plus, skinning can net a nice amount of money in the Auction House because it is used in other professions, like Blacksmithing.

Redjake 03-20-2005 01:45 PM

Mageweave bandages are learned from a manual that can be bought in Stormgarde Keep in Arathi Highlands. In order to progress past 225 you need to talk to the first aid trainer in IF to get a quest to talk to a doctor in Theramore. You will have to do a quest for him and after that you will be able to get artisan first aid. He will teach you heavy mageweave at 240, runecloth at 260, and heavy runecloth at 290. Hope this helps.

MahlerIsGod 03-20-2005 08:15 PM

I am a little confused. A had a few quests in Stromgarde Keep and it was full of mid lvl 30 elites. I had to kill Lord Falconer and Otto, collect some badges, etc. I don't recall any place to buy anything.

MahlerIsGod 03-20-2005 11:00 PM

Ignore the previous post. I have a terrible habit of not exploring all the areas on a map. I found the place and I am good to go. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

So I shelved my hunter for a bit and rolled up a mage this weekend. My lord are they fun! The playstyle is so much different and I can actually get instance groups without having to beg! I just hit 21 and have done wailing caverns twice now. I love doing crowd control...sheep is one of the funniest spells out there, until some jackass warlock keeps dropping dots on em! :hmm:

Havent had much chance to PvP with him yet though, any mages care to share some strategys with me?

cardfrek 03-21-2005 09:06 PM

Woohoo! the content patch with the new instance (Dire Maul) and the two new outdoor raid bosses is going live after this Tuesday maintenace (5AM to 11AM PST) hooray for new content!

oh yea ive been playing WoW since launch, lvl 58 NE Hunter on PvE server Hyjal name is Rasputiine, send me a tell in game if you have a alt on Hyjal.

Cynthetiq 03-21-2005 09:45 PM

Is anyone using Cosmos? If they are what's the best add-ons and why?

Frosstbyte 03-21-2005 09:48 PM

So, uh, I made a mistake. I created an alternate dwarf and sent him to IF so I wouldn't have to move all the way there when I wanted to use the auction house. Then I sent him a bunch of random items from my primary 39 hunter. The problem, of course, is that I sent him a bunch of items with 25-35 level requirements and he didn't receive any of them...Anyone know what I can do to retrieve these items other than bothering to level up the character that much?

Welcome to the light! Mages are fun indeed and an extremely powerful PvP class when played right. If played poorly you'll get murdered so fast you won't know what hit you. The most popular mage build on my server seems to be 31 fire/20 arcane or 31 arcane/20 fire. The point of these two builds is to frontload as much damage as possible, i.e. sheep the target and cast combustion or arcane power followed by pyroblast/fireball depending on your build and then some instant cast spells.

This is usually a good tactic since most targets will panic and do something stupid after that first beating. However, more experienced pvp'ers know that this is what a mage is likely to do and won't panic. Any healing class for example can heal up and then go to work on you. This is where counterspell comes in handy. These two builds are nice but you'll be a kind of one-trick pony that if you don't do enough damage after that first round, you're most likely screwed.

I like a more versatile scorch build that is becoming more and more popular due to Otherguy on Ilidan who posted some very impressive PvP movies. This guy is very very good at playing a mage and most people think if I can copy his build I'll be just as good which isn't true. His movement, camera control and knowing how to play against other classes is what makes him good.

Check out his movies here: http://www.warcraftmovies.com/viewauthor.php?id=180

His build is either 30 fire/21 Arc or 28 Arc/23 Fire. Personally I'm using the latter, 28 Arc/23 Fire, but it's personal preference. I like the burst damage I can get off Arcane Instability over the constant 10% damage increase in Fire Power.

This build is based on kiting and not frontloading a ton of damage. If you can move well, you'll do very well. If you stand still, you're dead. But basically you'll be relying on scorch and fireblast for most of the battle only using presence of mind -> fireball as a finisher.

Hope this helps a bit!

EDIT: I can't comment on frost/ice builds for PvP since they are few and far between from what I've seen. Maybe they are good I don't know.

Your alt. character should still recieve the items even if he can't use them. I'd file a ticket with a GM and hope for a fast response. Or the mail system may just have been lagged. Keep in mind that it takes up to an hour before he will receive any item. Mailing cash, on the other hand, is instant.

Hope you get it worked out.

Yeah best thing about Dire Maul. Going to kill yer same realm mates. IE : Horde for me. Currently on Stormreaver PvP and most of the horde are crying carebears..

If anyone is on the server send a tell. I am Cardinal.

Hopeing to get my hands on some new loots. I play a mage and need some newer cloth. And my damn brightwood just wont drop for me!

A combination of Fire and Arcane talents is the best overall like Jaded said. You can do some utterly amazing damage and stuns with 28 Fire, but some parts of Arcane shouldn't be missed because of their handiness in groups.

I agree with Jaded though -- Mages will die faster than any other class if you don't know what you're doing. I've beat mages two or three levels higher than me on my WARRIOR...it's all about the player behind the character. If a warrior or rogue EVER gets close to the mage then it's game over. My warrior specializes in group PVP...in other words, the more players I'm up against, the more powerful I get. If I can get within hitting range of a mage then I can usually take them down if they don't have potions. I few of those 1000+ crits will drop their HP bar pretty fast. :)

Yeah, turns out I was just impatient. When I logged in this morning, it was all there. The reason I freaked out was because I sent him some gold at the same time that I sent the items, and the gold arrived, but the items didn't, so I thought they'd just gotten lost in the ether of the mail systems. Thanks.

Redjake 03-22-2005 08:01 AM

Best mage build is 31 Arcane/20 Fire. Listen to this and listen to it closely:

Instant Arcane Explosion combined with a good healer turns any "instance" intio a "nuisance."

Sunken Temple with a 52-60 mage is a fucking joke with Instant Arcane Explosion. A MUST-HAVE no matter what build you do :)

Cosmos reports my Damage Per Second to be around 1500-2500 when I do Instant Arcane Explosion in Sunken Temple. It's incredible.

It's a very solid build no doubt and most mages will have instant arcane explosion. The 31 arc/20 fire build isn't called cookie-cutter mage build for nothing ;)

You can get instant arcane explosion w/o putting 31 points into Arc though. I have it in my 28 arc/23 fire build for example but I feel more versatile in PvP. 31 arc/20 fire isn't the best build, I don't think there is a best build out there. It all depends on your style of play. Frost/Arc mages are much more useful in later instances since mobs tend to have high resists against fire if they are not immune.

00111000 03-22-2005 10:56 AM

Thanks for the tips guys. Im gonna stick with the mage for a while now, the arcane/fire build is what I am going with right now since it seems the best for grinding. I can tear through mobs a lot faster than I thought I would be able to, not as fast as my hunter but still very respectable.

Got to do some PvP last night and had a blast...literally. I came up over a crest in the barrens and ran into about 30 or so Alliance on their way to crossroads...needless to say I was steamrolled, I did get a fire blast off though, this troll is going out fighting!

I was using cosmos but now use Ultimate UI which is cosmos with a lot of options and add-ons pre loaded. Fairly easy to configure and I love the gathering mod..Now I can beat those pally's to the ore!! Check it out Cyn, I reccomend it if you like cosmos.

MahlerIsGod 03-22-2005 11:14 AM

I would just add two things: 1)Its not exactly "instant" arcane explosions there is a minimal cooldown. 2) I would go into Arcane as far as to get your Clearcasting abilities to full. You spam your Scorch until you get a CC then blast them with Arcane Missles (coupled with Ignite there can some serious damage done).

Lasereth 03-22-2005 01:50 PM

Instant Arcane Explosion means the casting time is instant, not that the cooldown is instant. :)

-Lasereth

Chingal0 03-22-2005 01:53 PM

I have a frost mage, 36frost/15 arcane, and usually win in pvp. I do have clearcasting, and instant ae which helps in groups, but since I hit 60 I was thinking about experimenting in different specs because frost helped me most in soloing, but not sure how it will affect me in raid instances etc.

You are right, of course, in that Instnat means instant cast. I don't know what I was thinking. Disregard my post. Listen and abide by what Lasereth has to say.

Drider_it 03-22-2005 02:48 PM

well i respec yesterday to ice/arcane at lvl 54 human mage. after playing fire/arc. I have half the down time. no agro in groups hardly at all and i have 61%-88% health after a battle using no pots or frist aid.

now granted the killing is slow over the burst dmg of a fire mage, but ice barrier i can open that chest while stuff pounds on me.. or nuke a ton of stuff , the ice berg spell.. cant do phy attacks, cast spells or move.. but i can drink a pot or frist aid and keep it going after that.

cold snap the bomb to me, i miss combustion but this puppy. i shine. in pvp i laugh at most peps on lothar. instant cool down on all frost spells.

copulated with 5 imp arc miss, 5 for clear casting and 5 for imp arc exp it will own. currently im 5 imp arc miss and 2 in the talent for clearcasting. the clearcasting is the winner for me.. % for a free mana cost spell is pwnage.

now with my frost spells, nothing flys away from me or the group. attack speeds and movement are slowed longer. frost nova heh.. i get a better frost nova type proc that hits them that ups my dmg . i lose a bit o range over fireball and pryoblast, but with frostbolt and arc miss my agro is greatly lowered.

oh and sunken temple is nice for fire but in BRD and higher good luck with those fire spells vs. the fire elemental types. only thing that sucked about being a fire mage for so long hahaha.

btw i look like a borg now got my blue eyepeice this past weekend off a boss in lower brd hehe.

i wanted to go frost from the start. but everyone complained about thier downtime. now on bonechewer i started a frost/arc build ud mage. guess what i still have less down time than a fire mage. now that they fixed arc miss channeling ill pwn even more.

cosmos is by far a popular mod but we found a better one to use lately

http://curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=297

zensheep 03-22-2005 03:23 PM

I'm also going the Frost/Arcane route; so far I'm 24 Frost/18 Arcane as I've found Imp. CS a must have talent and I can't imagine living without it. I was arcane/fire leveling up, but the survivability and control of frost is more important to me than the burst damage of fire. I'm on a PvE server and not really interested in PvP until Battlegrounds so keep that in mind :)

BuddyHawks 03-22-2005 07:06 PM

Hooray for patch day! Been trying all day and have not been able to log in...

Seething 03-22-2005 07:13 PM

Had the patch downloaded since 6:30, haven't been able to log in since. Oh well...

noodles 03-22-2005 07:34 PM

patch has caused so many problems its rediculous. they are not very good with testing stuff.

new UI stuff messed up my display, made playing the game impossible. posted about it already in the forums, they have no clue what the deal is.

though the new area, dire maul, looks neat, i admit.

Cardinal Syn 03-22-2005 08:00 PM

Love their new UI. Althou i will add a ton to it. The base setup is great.

Got to diremaul. Ran into crap load of alliance and had a huge PvP fest outside the instance portals. That was fun for abit. Then we got all of our 5 member group toghether and entered, We got maybe a quarter of the way through and the instance crashed. MANY TIMES OVER! So needless to say i am lvling another charavter on a different server.

Redjake 03-22-2005 09:28 PM

Dire Maul is awesome so far. I really enjoyed Maraudon and the right wing of Dire Maul is basically Maraudon on steroids. Very, very interesting layout of the dungeon. We got to the VERY end of it, and the server crashed. Lots of horde outside the instance. The new UI is fucking awesome too. Never using Cosmos again.

MahlerIsGod 03-23-2005 01:35 AM

I hate the new UI, I absolutely hate it. I want my old Cosmos to work again. I should have the option not to use their new interface. I hate the auto hide of empty slots, I hate that I have to open my spellbook to move something from my backpack from my actionbar(s) (so the empty slots appear), I hate the fact that I can't change things back. This my sound petty and overly rash but this might be a deal breaker. I finally got on my server and had to stop out of rage and frustration. /rant over

Frosstbyte 03-23-2005 11:20 AM

Sorry you're hating the new UI so much, Mahler. I dropped Cosmos immediately in favor of it. I aggree that it's a little annoying to have to open the spellbook to make the empty slots appear, but other than that, I think it's just what I wanted.

On a side note, I finally hit level 40 last night...with 85 gold. Oh the horrors! I can make up the difference farming later tonight and then sweet sweet mount.

Halx 03-23-2005 11:24 AM

I counted at least 6 server crashes since the patch... ugh.

Scorps 03-23-2005 11:42 AM

Well I would post up some screen shots but I can't attach pics so I guess later!

lindseylatch 03-23-2005 02:38 PM

The new patch has completely screwed up cosmos...I can't even open my backpacks. I deleted and re-downloaded, to no avail. NOT COOL.

that's happened each time they have made a new patch...

and the cosmos guys have to repatch it.

Lasereth 03-23-2005 03:15 PM

Why would anyone still be using Cosmos after the patch? That piece of buggy crap is worthless now that the WoW UI has extra buttons and timers and features that Cosmos was making up for. I'm loving the new UI. I got to 52 earlier today too!

Quest Minion, Self-cast, auto-shout for low health, alarm clock, etc.

Frosstbyte 03-23-2005 04:33 PM

Well, so maybe this wasn't my best idea ever, since I have equipment only befitting of a level 25 hunter and the skills of one who is level 30, but I finally got my mount. I'm so pleased.

Now if I could only figure out how to upload a picture to here, I'd show him off.

BuddyHawks 03-23-2005 05:23 PM

I wish i still had cosmos, I was used to the button layout. I miss AltSelfCast, Quickloot, Mapnotes, Map coords, Reagenthelper, Quest lvl numbers, and INSTANT QUEST DIALOG!!

I ain't playing again until they fix it...Maybe I won't play ever again if my new game I'm getting is any good. And a friend is going to give me his Neverwinter Nights. So, this maybe goodbye, sweet WoW...

Frosstbyte 03-23-2005 07:24 PM

Anyone know of anywhere I could find addons for map coordinates, quickloot, quest lvl numbers and instant quest dialogue that wouldn't require me to get a full set like Cosmos? Those are the only parts of it that I cared much about. The rest was far more than I wanted or cared about for the number of problems it gave me.

Jadedfox 03-24-2005 01:07 AM

If you want to fix your cosmos here's what you do:

Run the cosmos.exe file (usually located in your folder where you installed WoW)
Go into "Configure"
Select which distribution you want (Alpha is working)
Check the Complete file check box
Download

This should fix your cosmos.

To choose which addons you want:

On your select character screen there's a a button in the lower left corner labeled "Addons". Click this. This will bring up your list of addons. Select which ones you want to use and deselect those you don't want to use.

I currently still run a few of the cosmos addons in combination with the new UI. Works like a charm. Self-cast, clock, look-lock are musts in my opinion.

Hope this helps!
