Yeah, i play on a RP server, so i cant attack the people that taunt behind their Non-flaggyness. I cheer in everypicture i have. Dezba is a very happy person. It's either that or i just stand there.

Zeraph 07-09-2005 04:57 PM

Blizz said theyre finally going to introduce a RP PVP server! By popular demand (as like a month ago they said they would never have one...just like the said they'd never nerf wotf and we know how that turned out..)
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...=1#post3909959
My plan is to start an orc shaman when they release it, anyone else interested in starting over with me? Post here or PM me. This is of course assuming they release it any time soon, if its like 3 months from now (unlikely) then I might not be interested anymore, so we'll see. I'd imagine it'd be within a month though.

-Ever- 07-09-2005 06:44 PM

I've currently got a skin loading/lag/freeze problem.

In a nutshell, when I log into WoW, Orgrimmar loads, the music loads, npc's load, chat loads, and a few players load. However it stops there. The fires keep on burning, players run in place, and most characters are naked. I can run around but everything is frozen to what it was at when I logged in. I've restarted my computer, removed UI mods, and tried to call technical support but it's closed on the weekend.

Here's the odd part. Everything was working fine until my *entire* DME group bugged inside the instance. We all were hit with a loading screen, teleported outside the instance, and our group was broken up. We reformed the group but were still teleported to Org. We discussed this oddity and decided to return to DME. I bugged while clicking on the windrider and it wouldn't load the flight path screen. I forced the game quit, and ever sence this has happened.

I know for a fact that my computer is running fine, and especially my internet connection because my friend (who was in the party) is at my house on my same router and he is running just fine right now.

What could be causing this? Why would a group-wide instance bug trigger my compter to quit loading enviornment?

This has been going on for well over an hour with spaced out resets and such. If I leave wow up and try to let things load, I'll eventually get "Disconnected from Server."

Update: Remember how I said I can move around but nothing loads? I can move around, guiding by my shadow on the ground. I went into the bank from the flght tower and my friend said he saw me. I spun in a circle and he watched me do it. I couldn't see him because he wasn't loaded there when I logged on. This sounds client-side to me..

Thanks for any help guys.

I think thats cool news, but this is just at the wrong time. I play on a RP server in Hopes of there being Role Playing going on. But the lack of RP content, no Character name enforcement, no moderation on the chat channels, takes away from the RP experince. They need to get these things in order before they release a new PVP-RP realm. I love to RP and would think it would be great to have a different type of RP server. But all i see it as is another PVP server. I feel right now there are on ly two types of servers, PvP and Normal, RP servers are a joke. Chat channels full of nonsence, like "hey i just palyed <Insert New Game Here> it Frickin' sweet yo!" then that followed by acctual replys. People talking in /s just chatting about nonsence. If it was truly a RP realm, then i wouldnt hear all this stuff about the Real World. I can go on and on about how the RP realms are not even good to RP in. Blizzard needs to adress the RPing issuse, instead of giveing PvPers and PvEers more and more content.

Scorps 07-09-2005 11:30 PM

What the hell is a RP realm?

MrFlux 07-10-2005 01:53 AM

Roleplaying.... where you actually speak in character etc.

Zeraph 07-10-2005 10:45 AM

I agree that the populations as a whole arnt all that roleplayish. My main reason for liking them is more because they attract a much more mature crowd. Plus it will be fun to have a fresh start. It also depends a lot on the guild you join and the people you hang out with, it can be a decent RP experience. I've got a dwarf priest on a RP server thats in a gnome/dwarf only guild, its small (like 3-5 active people on at a time, in other words maybe 10-15 total) but they all roleplay almost all the time, I rarely see them go OOC. So if I /leave general, and play with friends that RP it basically is.

Not that its a sure thing, but I know of a lot of people that were split on wanting to pvp or rp, and ended up choosing pvp, so many of them may come there. In other words it just might be taken more seriously so we'll see.

Zeraph 07-10-2005 10:51 AM

Sounds really wierd -Ever-, what about other modern (because of graphic reqs) games? How do they run? And is everyone that was in your group experiencing it? Maybe try messing with graphic settings on the off chance that they got messed up (like maybe turned up past what your comp can handle, or anti aliasing, or refresh rate messed up, etc).

Drider_it 07-10-2005 01:25 PM

This is my lvl 60 build im shooting for on bonechewer. Granted im only 22 but so far its working excellent

Yep, thats the classic end game rogue dagger build. Just be aware that a combat build is more effective for leveling faster/pve. But do whats fun.

Apokx 07-10-2005 03:43 PM

Since your build isnt the same old "Sinister Strike Spam" build, I like it.

snowy 07-11-2005 10:02 AM

The test realm patch notes (found here: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patch...atchnotes.html) indicate that warlocks are going to be able to redo their talent builds for free in the next patch.

Needless to say, as a 49 warlock who desperately needs to redo her build, I'm completely stoked.

I also want to know why they keep adding flight paths for Horde when Alliance has far fewer flight paths and some really idiotic connections. Uggh.

Damn I wish they would do that for priests, my lvl 37 needs s rebuild...thats why I don't play him anymore!

Lasereth 07-11-2005 10:25 AM

Damn guys it only takes 1g, 5g, 10g, 15g, etc. to respec. My warrior is 60 and he's still only at like 10 or 15g respec cost. :)

-Lasereth

snowy 07-12-2005 12:44 AM

You boys may not be so interested in this, but I thought I'd apprise you anyhow:

Advise any friends you have playing on Destromath not to group with a guy named Proto. The guy essentially accused me of being a "ninja looter" after he "dibsed" the Lich robes in Razorfen Downs prior to my (and my guildie's) presence in the group and after I said I would roll if they dropped.

I do not tolerate assholish behavior in fellow players. Needless to say, a mage who bosses the group through the entire instance and then accuses them of not doing anything is not a very cool guy.

Just thought I'd let you know (and get it off my chest). :)

Drider_it 07-12-2005 08:57 AM

patch is out .. i recomend the darkmoon fair .. but i dont know which faction side it hits first. there are "cool" items to be had by playing the games at the fair. so if you lack items due to a beginner and your broke or cant afford auction house prices try there.

btw... took about 3 hrs but my lvl 1 troll warrior went from durator to the bank of IF heh well he made lvl 2 cuz of exploration exp sigh but still
and yeah i died so many times its not funny but i made it.

and i challenge any and everyone to try and get cross faction pacts started to kill the farmers.. bonechewer and lothar has several now..

but wait isnt lothar pve.. why yes your right but here's how you do it

takes some warlocks. as the farmers attack a mob you fear it.. for some reason this dosent put you in combat where they come after you when the fear breaks.. as they are fear'd and run around they pull others to the original tapper i.e. the farmer. farmer screams wtfbbq and dies and your still safe hehe.

but only do this if your out and they mussel up to ya. on bonechewer and lothar this translates to your goofing around and they /duel you constantly or train mobs to you. if you have aoe stuff this can be a pain.. or if they are rogues they get a ton of stuff near ya then vanish leaving you with the agro cuz your usually nukein a monsters best friend.

My lvl 45 hunter needs a good place to hunt. Alliance, of course. Anyone have any suggestions? How about that new zone. Would it be solo'able for me?

Scorps 07-12-2005 10:31 AM

isn't felwood 45+ or is that 55+?

dabossy2k 07-12-2005 10:43 AM

felwood is 50+ and probably dont want to go there till like 52

Hinterlands is good, as are parts of Blasted Lands at that level. Assuming you're able to kill mobs 2-5 levels above you, BL is great, especially if you're also a skinner. It's usually pretty quiet and not a lot of gankage goes on. There's also a GREAT quest out there you can get from Kumisha the Collector--creatures in Blasted Lands drop these imperfect drahaenyst (sp) shards, and you swap them with Kumisha for some of his "junk". It's always a green or blue item.

Good luck!

Frosstbyte 07-12-2005 01:04 PM

I think they added a lot of mid to late 40s quests to Feralas, too. I've always been a big fan of Feralas, so I'd recommend going there. I haven't really spent much (if any) time in the blasted lands, though, so I can't say much about that. Good luck!

Zeraph 07-12-2005 02:31 PM

Here's a whole bunch of leveling info that I saved. Mostly for alliance but a lot of it will apply to horde as well.
Quote:

Level 12-20:
- Westfall [Sentinel Hill, Westfall Lighthouse]
- Loch Modan [Thelsamar, Farstrider's Lodge, Stonewrought Dam]
- Darkshore [Auberdine]
- Elite Area: Mo'grosh mound (Loch Modan)
- Instance: Deadmines

Complete the easiest quests in the first area that you go to (Night Elves should visit Darkshore first, Dwarves/Gnomes should visit Loch Modan first, Humans should visit Westfall first.) Move onto the next zone, and do the same, but this time you can complete more of the zone. Leave the most difficult, unless you can get a group for them - don't waste too much time on it, though. Move onto the last zone and complete all, or nearly all of the quests available in that zone. By this time, you should be about level 17-18. Go back to the first zone, and complete the rest of the quests there.

Typically, my "first zone" is Westfall, in which case you can go back when you are done with both Loch Modan and Darkshore, and finish the Van Cleef line of quests and be at a good level to run the instance.

Level 20-22:
- Redridge Mountains [Lakeshire, Tower of Azora in Elwynn]

Again, do the easy quests in Redridge, which should take you up to level 21 or 22. Skip the more difficult quests unless you have a group for them. I'd skip the entire Stonewatch Keep area of quests just simply because that entire area itself is crap.

Level 22-30:
- Redridge Mountains [Lakeshire, Tower of Azora in Elwynn]
- Duskwood [Darkshire, Sven's Camp, Abercrombie]
- Wetlands [Menethil Harbor, Greenwarden, N. Loch Modan (The Algaz Gauntlet)]
- Ashenvale [Astranaar ?]
- Stonetalon Mountains [?]
- Elite Area: Dun Modr (Wetlands)
- Instance: The Stockades
- Instance: Shadowfang Keep
- Instance: Blackfathom Deeps
- Happy Loot: Naraxis' Fang (Duskwood)
- Happy Loot: Tiny Crimson Whelpling (Wetlands)
- Grind Area [26]: Dragonmaw Encampment (Wetlands)
- Grind Area [26]: Whelgar's Excavation Site (Wetlands)
- Grind Area [28]: Rotting Orchard (Duskwood)
- Grind Area [28]: Raven Hill Cemetary (Duskwood)
- Grind Area [29]: Vul'Gol Ogre Mound (Duskwood)

Preparation: Purchase Bronze Tube.

Start at either Duskwood or Wetlands. This is where "quest stacking" can come in really handy if you want to be efficient. There are many, many quests that send you to the same areas, and if you get all of the quests at once, you can knock all of them out without having to run back and forth. Considering Wetlands and Duskwood are fairly bad for having their towns on one side of the map and the quest mobs/areas on the other side, this saves a lot of time. A lot of these are parts of quest chains, so honestly it's hard to know if you don't have prior knowledge or do a lot of quest research beforehand - so don't worry about it too much, but try to be as efficient as you can. Once you finish one of the two new areas, you should be about level 25 and can go finish the harder parts of Redridge, and then finish the last zone.

Note for Stockades : There are 6 quests you can obtain for this instance. Lakeshire, Darkshire, Wetlands, Van Cleef note continuation (Bazil Thredd), and two from Stormwind.

Level 31-37:
- Stranglethorn Vale [Rebel Camp, Nesingwary's Expedition, Booty Bay]
- Hillsbrad Foothills [Southshore]
- Arathi Highlands [Refuge Pointe]
- Desolace [32]
- Thousand Needles [31]
- Instance: Gnomeregan
- Happy Loot: Howling Blade (Skhowl, Alterac Mountains)
- Happy Loot: Toxic Revenger (Gnomeregan)
- Happy Loot: Tiny Emerald Whelpling (Swamp of Sorrows)
- Grind Area [31]: Kurzen Encampment [!NOTE!] (Stranglethorn Vale) -- [Test needed]
- Grind Area [33]: Stranglethorn Raptors (Stranglethorn Vale)
- Grind Area [33]: Growless Cave (Alterac Mountains)
- Grind Area [34]: Gallow's Corner (Crushridge Ogres - Altarac Mountains)
- Grind Area [36]: Venture Co. Base Camp (Lake Nazferiti - Stranglethorn Vale)

Preparation: Purchase all 15 pages of The Green Hills of Stranglethorn, 4 Bloodstone Ore.

Start at Stranglethorn Vale. Quest stacking here is also godly, since you don't want to have to run all the way to the northern end of the zone, do one or two quests and turn them back in at Booty Bay. Rebel Camp's quests are largely independent of the rest, though, so you can do those first. Then, head to Booty Bay, where you can pick up two main quests for the northern area: Investigate the Camp and the start of the Excelsior chain, both of which takes you to Nesingwary's Expedition, where you obtain all of the nice happy quests there.

Hillsbrad is only good starting at about level 33, at which point you can actually *do* all of the quests that you could obtain at level 30... Arathi only has one or two quests that you can actually do right now, but it's listed anyways.

Kurzen Cave has been fixed, which perhaps means that Jungle Fighters and Headshrinkers have as well, so someone test that out please.

Level 37-43:
- Stranglethorn Vale [Booty Bay, Nesingwary's Expedition, Rebel Camp]
- Arathi Mountains [Refuge Pointe, Faldir's Cove]
- Badlands [Various camps around the zone]
- Desolace [37]
- Elite Area: Stromgarde
- Elite Area: Mosh'ogg Mound
- Instance: Scarlet Monastery
- Instance: Uldaman
- Instance: Razorfen Downs
- Happy Loot: Tiny Black Whelpling (Badlands)
- Grind Area [37]: Lashtail Raptors (Stranglethorn Vale)
- Grind Area [37]: Water Elementals (Stranglethorn Vale)
- Grind Area [37]: Theramore Coast (Dustwallow Marsh) - Turtle Scales & Leathers
- Grind Area [39]: The spider cave north of Brackenwall (Swamp of Sorrows)
- Grind Area [39]: Rock Elementals (Badlands)
- Grind Area [39]: Elder Crag Coyotes (Badlands)
- Grind Area [41]: Scalding Whelps (Badlands)
- Grind Area [41]: Agmond's End (Badlands)
- Grind Area [41]: Ziata'jai Ruins (Venture Co. Stuff, Stranglethorn Vale)
- Grind Area [43]: Naga Explorers (Stranglethorn Vale)

Preparation: Purchase 9 Blue Pearls, 1 Frost Oil, 1 Gyrochronatom, 4 Buzzard Wings, 1 Elixir of Water Breathing.

37 is where you obtain your next batch of quests from Stranglethorn Vale. Arathi Highlands has fairly decent quests in Faldir's Cove, or if you're feeling group-friendly, knock out the ones in Stromgarde. Badlands has a lot of nice quests, but you have to actually find them. This is where supplementing experience by grinding becomes more efficient at times, and at 42-43 you should be closing the last of your Stranglethorn quests, and be finished with Badlands and Arathi both, as well.

Scarlet Monastery. Black Menace or Sword of Serenity. Nothing more needs to be said - except where to obtain the quest: Desolace.

Level 43-46:
- Feralas [Feathermoon Stronghold]
- Tanaris [Gadgetzan, Steamwheedle Port]
- Instance: Zul'Farrak
- Grind Area [43]: Wastewander Bandits (Tanaris)
- Grind Area [44]: Isle of Dread (Feralas - Inside Cave; South of Feathermoon Stronghold)
- Grind Area [45]: Feral Scar Vale (Feralas)
- Happy Loot: 14slot bag! Cortello's Riddle quest, starts in one of the ships in Stranglethorn Vale for the end of the Bloodsail Buccaneers line of quests.

Fairly self explanatory, I guess. Not much going on here, really.

Level 46-50:
- Tanaris [Gadgetzan, Steamwheedle Port]
- The Hinterlands [Aerie Peak]
- Instance: Zul'Farrak
- Instance: Maraudon [49]
- Instance: Temple of Atal'Hakkar [50]
- Grind Area [47]: Undead in Western Ashzara (Azshara)
- Grind Area [47]: Dunemaul Compound (Tanaris)
- Grind Area [47]: Elementals/Golems around The Cauldron + N of it (Searing Gorge) - Elemental Leatherworking Supplies

At this point, you more than likely have a bunch of quests saved up for The Hinterlands - including but not limited to, the quest to gather Wildkin Feathers (from Rutheran Village), the quest to obtain a snapshot of Gammerita, the quest to obtain Violet Trajan, the last part of Cortello's Riddle, etc. Feel free to knock them all out at once.

Level 50-55:
- Searing Gorge [Kalaran Windblade]
- Blasted Lands [Blood Elf camp]
- Un'Goro Crater [Marshal's Refuge]
- Felwood [Emerald Sanctuary]
- Burning Steppes [Morgan's Vigil]
- Instance: Temple of Atal'Hakkar
- Grind Area [49]: The Overlook Cliffs (The Hinterlands) - Turtle Scales & Rugged Leathers
- Grind Area [50]: Deadwood Village (Felwood)
- Grind Area [51]: Ruins of Eldarath (Azshara)
- Grind Area [52]: Dreadmaul Rock (Firegut Ogres - Burning Steppes)
- Grind Area [52]: Legash Encampment, Thalassian Base Camp, Ursolan (Azshara)
- Grind Area [52]: Jaedenar (Felwood)
- Grind Area [52]: Sorrow Hill (Western Plaguelands)
- Grind Area [54]: Temple of Arkkoran (Azshara)
- Grind Area [55]: Jadefire Run, Felpaw Village (Felwood)

The quests in Blasted Lands all stack on top of each other. Five in total, one for each stat; they give 4700 experience per turn-in, along with always the chance of obtaining a Draenethyst Sphere for Kumi'sha the Collector with every mob you kill. Un'Goro Crater has the biggest collection of quests out of all of these zones.

Level 55-60:
- Winterspring [Everlook, Starfall Village]
- Western Plaguelands [Chillwind Point]
- Eastern Plaguelands [Light's Hope Chapel]
- Instance: Blackrock Depths
- Instance: Blackrock Spire [60]
- Instance: Stratholme [60]
- Instance: Scholomance [60]
- Grind Area [55]: Felstone Field, Dalson's Tears, The Writhing Haunt, Gahrron's Withering (Western Plaguelands)
- Grind Area [56]: Northridge Lumber Camp (Western Plaguelands)
- Grind Area [56]: Corin's Crossing (Eastern Plaguelands)
- Grind Area [56]: The Pillar of Ash (Burning Steppes)
- Grind Area [56]: Winterfall Village (Winterspring)
- Grind Area [57]: Blackrock Stronghold (Burning Steppes) [NOTE]
- Grind Area [57]: Ice Thistle Hills (Wintespring) - Rugged Leathers
And info on quests for 57-60
Quote:

First, I would have to agree with Esh. Getting started on running Dire Maul, Stratholme, Scholomance and the other high end instances would be the best way to gain some experience towards sixty and allow you the opportunity to get some nice items. However, if you're intent on non-instance questing, make sure you complete all the quests found in Winterspring, Felwood and make certain to do every quest you can which Nathanos Blightcaller gives in Eastern Plaguelands. Also, the new elite quests patch 1.5 added to the new Troll camp located in the eastern portion of the Hinterlands may still be green, which you should do if such is the case.

Lastly if you haven't done so already, talk with the Fallen Hero of the Horde on the border of the Blasted Lands and Swamp of Sorrow and start the "Swamp Talker" quest which leads to the "Stones that bind us". This quest will land you some amazing xp, and is both fun and easy.

Get started on warlord's command too. A full run of LBRS + the misc quests in there + warlords will net you a full level in all likelyhood.

Also, talk to duke hydraxis in azshara and get your MC questline going. After the first two quests you get a simple UBRS quest that you can complete as you go through collecting eyes for Warlords.

If you haven't gotten MC attuned, run a BRD group. Slower xp at your level but tons of quests in there you could get done if you haven't done em, and you end up attuned at the end.

The battle of darrowshire questline that starts with the redpath lady in the inn in winterspring is good xp if you haven't done it yet, and some decent rewards. Also the scarlet courier/oracle quests from blightcaller in plaguelands
And a brief horde section
Quote:

14-16: Pirates south of Ratchet (Barrens)
16-19: Various wildlife, especially cats, in Barrens. Note that if you're using a dagger crit build, then exp for this is insane.
19-22: Bramblescar (Barrens) on lizards and quillboars. Unless you're doing leatherworking, just leave the lizards alone.
22-24: Tarren Mill (Hillsbrad) on bears and spiders. Dagger crit chain heaven.
24-26: Across the road from Tarren Mill on tougher bears and cats. Dagger crit chain heaven.
26-28: Spiders/Bears in back of Syndicate tower (Hillsbrad)
28-30: Cats and Spiders around Nethander Stead (Hillsbrad)
30-32: Harpies inside cave (Thousand Needles)
And rogues may find this useful, don't forget that you can now talk to trainers to find out where to go, but this is incase you want to plan ahead (or always forget to ask the trainer).

• Swamp of Sorrows - Pool of Tears
• Searing Gorge - The Slag Pit
• Tanaris Desert - Lost Rigger Cove
• Azshara - Bay of Storms
• Eastern Plaguelands - Tyr's Hand (elite)
You'll need to estimate where youre at, visit the place, and if it's too high go one lower or too low go one higher.

The writers for most of these were rogues, so that's there's phrases like crit builds, etc in there, but it should work fine for any class.

It does this is mostly for people who are gonna grind to even though the quests are littered though there, this guide was meant for people who want to go to a area and stay there and just kill to get exp. There are lots of quests out there that can give exp probably just as fast just have to know where they are.

The guide is meant for people who want to level efficiently. Maybe in some specific level ranges, and some specific ranges (minus levels 1-12 or even 1-20, those are super fast anyway) it is faster to do quests. But I've tested it, grinding (assuming you know how to efficiently) is just plain faster unfortunetly. BUT to me, and almost everyone else, questing FEELS way faster because grinding is so mind numbingly boring. So don't get me wrong, I certainly do not recommend grinding all that much, but the guide is still useful to know what zones you can head toward, and the preperations for the mid level quests are nice.

Jerpitcher 07-12-2005 09:02 PM

Hey everyone, this is kinda off topic from quests or the like but has to do with some technical problems. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this. I can log in and select my character just fine. But when I try to enter the realm, that is when the trouble starts. (I spawn in Orgrimmar) The sound plays when I enter the playing area, and I hear ambient sounds. The screen then freezes and the ambient sounds continue. These then stop. The screen then moves again, and the sounds come back. Again, the screen freezes while the sound plays for an extra few seconds and then everything stops. It does this 3-5 times before it disconnects me and takes me back to the login screen. If I try to login again, it will not connect. If I exit the program and try to go on the internet, it doesn't work. I have to reboot to regain a connection. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for listening and sorry about the long message! *edit* I tried a brand new character and it didn't freeze up! Maybe my older lvl 25 warrior became corrupted somehow?

Zeraph 07-13-2005 12:04 PM

I had the nearly the exact same problem, Jerpitcher, and it was only with one character, a warlock. The only thing I can think of is the pet (happened to be the succubus)...but eventually (like a month, or after a patch) it worked again. Luckily it was an alt I rarely played but boy would I have been pissed if it was my main.

Jerpitcher 07-13-2005 09:25 PM

Yeah see thats the thing, it is my main...lol. ANd its a warrior. So I don't know whether there's a corruption somewhere or what. I've stayed out of logging out of Orgrimmar, and I have noticed it hasn't done it to me since then. So we'll see how it goes from here on out.

Gabbyness 07-14-2005 04:04 PM

Jerpitcher,

I had a similar problem. There's a "file cleanup" that you can download from Blizz's site that fixed my glitch. I can't seem to find the site right now, but, I assure you, it's there!

This is unrelated to onesnowyowl's vid, the ending is hilarious. It's a satire of a CM meeting, with subtitles redone from some serious movie, about paladins.

Me and my brother laughed for like 10 minutes after watching that earlier. It has like 200k views on the WoW forums. One of the best WoW movies I've ever seen. It just fits together perfectly. :)

Oh I got the hickups from laughing. Thanks for the link.

On another note.

How is the game treating you people? How is Bleeding Hollow doin?

I left back in January. Still got a lvl44 priest in the works. Thinking of going back.

I just left recently, but from what I've heard not well. Last patch introduced a lot of bugs.

-Ever- 07-19-2005 08:56 PM

Been leveling nice and steady lately, trying to only play with rested experience so to keep up things in my daily real life ;) I dinged 59 today and feel on top of the world, check out the loot I've gathered (*not grinded*) the past two days:

-Cord of the Elements (shaman set waist)
-Trindlehaven Staff (first time ever killing Wyrm)
-Recipe: Greater Fire Protection Potion (perfect timing for my MC debut)

All in all I've really been enjoying the game on what feels like a healthier level than before. Now that I'm closer to 60, I've just been running an instance a day, collecting goods, and getting on IRL without temptation to grind out more exp. Other than that, not much news. Been trying to get into AV here and there in hopes to get Exalted with Frostwolf (just hit honored). I want to be the first wolf-riding tauren on the server

Gabbyness 07-20-2005 01:41 PM

Have you guys heard about this "duping" thing with Mauradon? I don't know crap about it, and I'm not looking to get banned for cheating, but what's all the fuss about? I know my server forum has exploded with people debating this gold dupe that has to do with Maur.

Anyone else heard about this?

sailor 07-20-2005 03:30 PM

Yeah, supposedly there is a way to dupe items and gold involving bugged instance entrances. As evidenced by one guy having 10 Krol Blades for sale in the AH and someone else buying out everything that was for sale with a buyout and relisting it with heinous buyouts. Of course, there has also been accusations that the screenshots were photoshopped, so...

Zeraph 07-20-2005 06:04 PM

Yeah, I heard it was fake, but who knows.

Cynthetiq 07-20-2005 09:34 PM

ugh.. i havne't played in abit, have another distraction.

I gathered in IF for a guildie enchant session getting all my stuff enchanted, and then skogafoss and i went off on our own to do some q because everyone had to log for the day on Sunday

the ship we were on disappeared in the middle of the ocean and we all died of fatigue.

about 5 mins ago I just rez'd from the spirit since I wouldn't be able to get my body with out fatiguing again, and then i got to inn and logged out.

yep its official.. they give gold to someone hit the instance at high lag.. they get a short time reversal rollback.. classic blizzard rollback dupe from diablo 2 heh.. server lags you you get a roll back and only you..

If that 10 krol on AH thing is true... honestly, how dumb do you have to be to try and sell 10 at once? Like no one would notice.

noodles 07-23-2005 06:42 PM

a few things to note about that picture:
you can create a replica of it using macros and UI scripting -- someone on the slashdot comment section created exactly that except it was "cowboyneal" selling a thousand krol blades. no photoshop necessary.

so just because its there doesn't make it true.

though i don't doubt there is gold duping bugs -- thats one of the ways gold farmers stay in business.

well that and last week i was passing out water for a scholo run and lo ... unto my mage was given 546g ...

we never got into the instance 2 droped and my guild said "get ya arse over and help us in brd" so i tele'd to IF then as i was flying to searing gorge.. i realized... "omfgwtfbbq" which i never talk like that so they whole guild knew at once either i got hacked by a noobular 12 year old or infact something strange and wonderful happened to my toon.

i once again teleported out.. to SW this time then made my way back to searing gorge. and lo the guild met me on my uber fast mount. granted i sent several tells to the 3 peps i gave water to. none was missing gold.. yet how did i get allthat gold..

screw it its a game im not gonna look too deep into it.. lets just say my mage is a bit faster in traveling now. and yeah all i needed was about 350g for my mount hehe but hey.

bah dont listen to them.. really the only reason i went with frost/arcane was for solo pve, and the fact that im attuned and im always asked to come to MC runs for some reason. the fact that im spec'd to handle a crowd and the fact that i know how helps heh.

take felwood

i go up to the deadwood furblogs camps . i see 6-8 milling around and give a quick shudder and im off

flamestrike opener, blink, imp arcane explosion x2, cone of cold, ice barrier, frost nova, Imp blizzard so that its hitting them the whole time i.e. my outter edge of the circle is touching both them and me.

by then my mana is kaput so i slap my mana ruby and a superior mana pot, and hit cold snap. ends all my frost cool downs, frost nova. ice barrier again, evocation then imp arcene explosion ftw.

i have cleared even in west plague lands up to 12 toons this way. granted due to lag or resists ive died before but 90% of the time i win.

also im half way passed honored with timbermaw.

with fire i would have to say the same.. but you lack the cool ice barrier shield. id open with a flamestrike then a cone of cold, frost nova, combustion flamestrike followed by a blast wave from hell. then imp arcane exp blah blah.. it works just have to find yoru stance

also note.. find a player that has a priest, become friends.. priest shield is a mages friend.

or do like i do. have two account and have a wirless keyboard sitting by ya from your 2nd computer with your priest ..all hot keys. hehe its evil but doable.

at first i was like. my god im usless look at the other classes takeing down stuff left and right but i use too much of my mana doing it.. then i was like

wait a tic.. ive got all these aoe spells for a reason. so instead of 2-3 at a time lets take a bit of dmg and a 10 min cool down and just nuke a ton of them at once.

also if your just farming for gold and such go do with with camps of lvl 40ish things or even 30ish youll be suppriesed how fast you get some gold going.

i go into the court yard of SM all the time with the undead and spend two hours aoe'n them i tele to IF sell or ah stuff and end up with at least 20g for my time. also note this area has both elite and non elite undead, palys rock here too.

and they have a high respawn rate. locked chests abound and herbs.. an the rare grave moss herb can be gotten here. hehe

ungoro crater is another.. just use your wand to tab through the tar elementals then do what i listed above. most arent ranged casters just cast root most the time. heh pfft root i plan to stand still anyways.

basically my mage tenere has gone from 2-3 a bar of mana to 8-15 a 2 bars of mana.. like i said evocation ftw.

but then some say you do all that fance spell work and your down time is 10 min you still have a lose there.. i say nay.. while my 10 min cool downs are going i can still hit 1-3 toons a mana bar until the cooldowns are gone. pfft and i though a rogue was cool.

Lasereth 07-26-2005 02:46 PM

The best way to make money in WoW isn't farming, but mining. Farming does result in the occasional rare or epic item, and I suppose that sorta makes up for the lowered gold from each enemy, but some people I know have never found an epic. I've found 2 farming in Azshara, not to mention like 8 blues. Even so, if I need quick money, mining is simply the best money for the time. Go to Arathi Highlands and go clockwise around the zone along the mountainous border. Make sure to get the ogre camp in the small hill that's west of Refuge Point as well. You can make 20-40g PER HOUR mining there. Yes, it's that bad. People will pay ridiculous amounts for mining items on the AH. Just be careful not to overflow the market. I've never made less than 20g an hour doing that.

Why am I letting my "secret" out? Because I cancelled my account a week ago. Have fun miners. :)

-Lasereth

Drider_it 07-26-2005 03:09 PM

yeah true but still i only farm creatures that will up my reputation with factions like with argent dawn, timbermaw and now thorium brother hood. a method to my madness

Omg you got alot of pets....my mage has got one! A parrot!

sailor 07-28-2005 05:16 AM

Im a 43 Undead priest, but sorta wishing now that I had rolled something else. Probably either a Warrior or a Mage. Id like a warrior because its nice being able to just grind away on things and not have to sit down and wait for your mana to come back up. But mages... Yeah, I really wish I'd rolled a mage. I just love AOE spells... It's a sight when youre blasting through an instance because you have a good mage... Just pull 4 or 5 adds, shield the mage, and let him AOE the crap out of everything. We blasted through RFD in about 45 minutes like this with a 42 mage. And hey, you could do some crazy grinding/farming with AOE spells...

Too bad I'm moving to Germany in a month and won't be able to play. So, no time to reroll a mage. Guess I'm just gonna have to get my priest as high as I can...

Xazy 07-28-2005 06:41 AM

Yeah, thats the other big reason I'd like a mage--always having food/water.

But still, I think itd be nice... I suspect you could make some pretty decent cash, too--mageweave, for example, or wool, sells quite well. If youre a 60 or 40 respectively, you could probably string together a bunch of creeps and AoE em down, racking up the money.

I dunno, I really like the idea of both being able to AoE and do lots of damage as a caster.

Mages are nowhere near the damage dealer at 60 that they are at 35. The 60+ game sees Warriors, Rogues, and Hunters vastly out-damaging Mages in every way. If you're a casual gamer and don't really plan on raiding, a Mage is fine. If you plan on being a hardcore raider and you want to do the most damage possible, roll a Hunter, Warrior, or Rogue.

ObieX 07-28-2005 02:20 PM

I dunno about that. 95% of the time I'm on top of the list when people whip out their damage meter add-ons.

Lasereth 07-28-2005 03:49 PM

Even though I cancelled my account, I have to say that I really enjoyed playing a priest and warrior to a high level in WoW. They are the funnest classes to play in my opinion. My warrior was godly in PVP and my priest could take out an incredible amount of horde or NPCs combined with any other class. I'm proud at what Blizzard has formed out of the warrior. The warrior is one of the few classes in WoW that can inflict an instant "oh shit" feeling. Seeing a huge character in platemail running at you with an Arcanite Reaper is pretty fearsome. Too bad the honor system is totally fucked because of Battlegrounds else I'd still be playing.

In raiding, mages rely on mana to do damage. Once their mana is gone, they have to sit back and wait (without drinking) for their mana to regenerate. Warriors, rogues, and hunters do constant damage without stopping. Mages do more damage initially, but in the long run, a class that does not have to stop will outdamage a class that relies completely on mana for damage.

-Lasereth

ObieX 07-28-2005 04:14 PM

Rarely do i ever have to sit to regain mana while on a raid. My mana regenerates really fast, especially when arcane concentration kicks in (which is very often). Evocation refreshes once every 10 mins which is often enough on a raid to keep me standing constantly. + mana ruby and my lily root. + i have some talents that keeps some of my mana regen going when im casting. I also have some items that increase my mana regen. And i just have a crapload of mana in general. The time between pulls is more than enough time for crystal water to cap me off.

If your mages are going oom every fight/ every other fight they're doing something really wrong and/or need to upgrade their equipment badly.

I have to disagree with that. In most raids I have/had around 8200 mana with buffs and I ran out every single battle. I also had the highest damage using the raid calculator thing, I even beat out the rogues. Some people sit on the side lines and cheer for the team and others get out onto the court and make some shots

On a more serious note, it just depends on what type of mage you are, the steady damage mage (usually frost/arcane or just frost) or the super damage until mana is gone mage (usually fire/arcane or fire). A combination of the types, such as 1 super damage and 1 steady damage, or 2 and 1, or 1 and 2, is really great for UBRS and other similar dungeons. Gets you out much quicker. From what I've experienced. Also helps a ton on bosses.

In UBRS, I've done nearly 400,000 damage in one run, #2 spot being a rogue coming in around 280,000. Just depends if you go Apeshit or take it easy. Your healer will HATE you but on the bright side, the only person in the group he has to heal is you

Lasereth 07-28-2005 07:37 PM

When I say raid, I mean raid bosses that take 15 minutes to fight. I don't mean UBRS or 10-man. Every mage in the game will run out of mana unless they severely hold back against all MC bosses.

-Lasereth

ObieX 07-28-2005 08:04 PM

MC bosses are kinda the exception imo. Everyone takes a big hit on those. Melee classes last only as long as their healer's mana in those cases, so everyone is mana dependant. But yea, for MC bosses and the like i usually whip out frostbolt. My mana bar/mana regen can keep up pretty well with that, and i can evocation for a quick refill + mana ruby when needed. When my arcane concentration kicks on i'll switch to arcane missiles for that cast since i dont have to worry about the mana hit. And even when im completely drained of mana, all i have to really do is wait 2 1/2 seconds or so before i can throw another frost bolt. *shrugs*

On a MC boss everyone kinda has to hold back a little, otherwise you draw agro and could wipe the whole raid if you're not careful. Even that rogue or hunter isn't going full blast or else the boss will turn around and 1 shot them. So while in theory a melee would outdamae a mage on a MC boss or the like, the reality is there really isnt all that much of a difference.

i average about 50g an hour.
i have two separate stratigies that work equally well, though one is more prone to fluctuation (0g an hour to up to 200g an hour). not including epics.

unlike you, its not mining. and also unlike you, i'm not gonna give my secrets away publically :) last thing i need is someone to come in and bust up my monopoly on one of my plans :p pm me with your realm and maybe we'll talk :)

partially true -- depends on what we're talking about.
mages will out dps everyone in some encounters, while most more conventional encounters, it'll be a rogue or two, then hunters, more rogues, then mages.

On any single-target (boss) encounter a well equipped Hunter will out-damage a similarly equipped Mage that is chain-casting Frostbolt/Fireball/Arcane Missles. Rarely does my DPS peek above 200dps, whereas our well-equipped Rogues, Hunters, and Warriors are sitting at about twice that consistently.

Anyone want to give my guild and me some tips on destroying the BWL Razorgore fight? I accept PM's if you want to keep it downlow. We're a good, well organized guild who had a lot of people splinter off a while back (when we were killing Rag and Ony) and we're just recently now back on our feet. The most eggs we've managed to break is +/- 15. I'm new to the fight so I was a shaman in Group8 by the stage throwing earthbind totems and healing our warrior. I know we have a group of mages running around in the center doing crowd control with frost/sheep/whatever they do and have the other groups studded around the perimeter doing their allocated jobs. We're all on Ventrillo so we're able to organize and switch things up rather fast if necessary.

Thanks for any advice if possible!

Increases the regeneration rate.

Also, if you want to take pictures with no UI you can press Alt+Z :)

Yeah, spirit is definitely underrated. Especially as a priest with spirit tap, which doubles your spirit for 12 seconds after a kill that you get XP for. I got/made myself an armor set that emphasizes spirit for grinding, and it drastically reduced my downtime--no more having to sit there waiting for my mana to regenerate or find something to drink. I can now legitimately grind, going from target to target, only having to stop to refuel after killing 5-6 guys... About what a warrior or rogue would have to do for health.

Since you are a mage and can make yourself water, I wouldnt worry about spirit. Keep with the intellect :)

Wow, some cool hunter changes coming up in the next patch. They have a talent calculator now on their site to show the new changes. If feral tree in druids gets the same treatment, watch out.

dabossy2k 08-01-2005 12:42 PM

Ya I saw that to looks like it could get pretty interesting with people now changing to feral instead of everyone just doing marksmanship. But we'll see what bugs come with it might be more pain then pleasure.

Like druids aren't powerful enough right now!! A mage can instant cast arcane powered pyroblast and fireblast for over 3k damage and a druid in bear form can last the entire mana bar easily. It's terrible. Druids that use the rage into HP converter could beat my warrior without healing once. If they become even more powerful they'll be the next shaman. A druid's bear form is simply incredible. More armor and HP than a 60 warrior and a rage-into-HP converter that restores 2000 HP without using mana.

Good news. My server, being a low pop server, is fairly far behind on the accomplishments, but I'm proud to be a part of some of them.

I'm part of an alliance of small guilds. We group together to tackle big challenges that casual groups normally don't have a shot at. We've cleared up to Gehennas in Molten Core (we would have been farther by now if Blizzard didn't hate us... instance bugs GALORE have been plaguing our runs because we are always rotating people from day to day... ugh) and just last night, we took down Onyxia.

Friday night, we took down Lucifron in a flawless fight, no deaths (second week in a row). Then we took down Magmadar on the first attempt (again, second week in a row... thanks seretogis!). Then we took down Gehennas for our first time. We then called it a night.

Saturday, we get together to kill Onyxia. It took us a few tries, but on our 3rd attempt, it looked like we were gonna do it. Then shit just seemed to be going wrong. Not enough DPS was alive. The countdown was slow... "4%" ..... "3%" .......... "2%" .... "Dont get aggro!!" ... "1%".... "c'mon! c'mon!" .... "1%" ..... "Nooooooo"

We wiped at half of a percent.

On our next trip into the instance.. well.. without describing too much.. the warders kept respawning over and over. We couldn't do anything. Blizzard suggested waiting an hour and reforming. Well, we did that, and it was still bugged. So, for the second Saturday in a row, our raid was bugged. Plus, after waiting an hour+ to reform, we no longer had enough time to go for Garr.

So, we decided on the fly to go for her Sunday. We killed her on first attempt.

Wheee.

water is only good ifyou can drink it.. although with mage armor and a hefty amount of spirit, you shouldnt need to drink unless you got serious crunch time involved i.e. an instance end boss

i started the whole high spirit thing right around ZF cuz back then there was a combat bug and you ended up doing most the instance stuck in combat. very bad for the big fight.. the only way outta it was to alt tab .. ctrl alt del and crash wow then come back in and drink as fast as you could before the bug hit ya again.

remember pain... 5 sec after a spell is cast your spirit kicks in for mana regen.. if you cast a spell it resets each time. now mage armor is different it WILL allow to regen mana during combat. but really its about 1-2 spells in a big battle but it helps.

awesomeness of mage armor

1. mana regen during combat
2. resists added while its up
3. you can drink a defense potion

you lack the slow chill effect from ice/frost armor

but with the above combo you can up your defense a bit more then you could with say ice/frost armor and such
