Great minds think alike, eh?
|
don't generally listen to country so I don't have a damn clue
I'd guess the Grand Ole Opry but you have to already be famous to perform there, I think.... so yeah, no clue. |
Don't know if they've ever performed on the Opry, but then again, I don't watch it. That's not it though.
|
Weren't they Linda Ronstadt's back-up band?
|
Just looked up the answer. This might be hard to guess, but is a great trivia question (not that I'm really familiar with them).

Hey, I'm back from my trip to Chicago, looks like some great questions have been on the board while I was away!
My S.W.A.G= Behind the green door |
Saving Ryan's Privates
If not that, then my guess is The Devil in Miss Jones |
Noone is right yet.
I'll give a hint............. It was about a man having a penis transplant and he locates the donor's ex-wife. Then proceeds to find and bed all the mistresses the donor had. |
pan, I dont know the answer, but I do have a question. did the Kinks actually write the music FOR the porno? or was it a case of their music simply being used in the flick?
I ask because I saw a porno one time in which they used some really old Pink Floyd music as the background for a sex scene. I dont recall the name of the movie, but I think the song was "Set the controls for the heart of the sun". strange choice I thought. |
No, they were paid to create the soundtrack. Both Ray and Dave regretted it because the movie was so horrid but the music was tremendous. My favorite all-time song is from that movie. Won't reveal the name of the song now because then it would be easy to find the title in a search.
Have to understand why they did it. It was 1970, they had been banned from performing in the US and the audiences in the UK were starting to find newer bands, and the KINKS were very self destructive, so they needed the money and the producers claimed the movie would be big (which it bombed). I think Ray still owns a percentage of the movie. I would kill to see it. |
I looked it up and found it... I would have had no idea.
|
"21 inches"
See, it's a play on 21 grams, since they have similar plots. |
Was it "The Shocker - 3 in the pink 2 in the stink" ??
|
Nope
Neither of the above |
you've got about 4 hours and 15 minutes til this becomes a stumper.
i looked it up so i'm not eligible. |
It was called "Percy" actually had Britt Ekland and Elke Sommer as well as Denholm Elliot. Below is the synopsis from the Yahoo movie site.
My favorite all time song by anyone "God's Children" was written for this movie. Hywel Bennett stars in this comedy as Edwin Antony, the recipient of the first penis transplant. After receiving the transplant, Antony begins to go through an identity crisis and begins a search for the penis's original owner. Before long, he has found the man's widow, who tells Antony that her husband was a philanderer and left a string of mistresses. So, Antony goes off in search of these other women (who include the fetching Elke Sommer and Britt Ekland) and finds that there are many more than he could have imagined. MPAA Rating: R. Cast and Credits Starring: Hywel Bennett Elke Sommer Britt Ekland Denholm Elliott Director: Ralph Thomas Composer: The Kinks |
Ok...... let's keep up with the soundtrack theme.
What movie did Dave Davies co-compose (with the director) the soundtrack to? And yes, the director is a give away so I can't mention his name. This should be real easy for someone. |
So this was not a bonafide porno then, I was thinking you were talking about XXX. To my knowledge, Britt Eklund and Elke Sommer didn't do hard core. Anyways, I have no clue on the Kinks question. I think you might try a question on a different artist Pan, I don't think the Kink knowledge on this board (without googling) is as vast as yours.

Actually, I'd lay odds someone will know this question. But just to make it easier and flow faster the director/co- composer of the movie soundtrack was John Carpenter.
Well see back in '70 triple x was really cheap stuff. From what I have heard "Percy" was pretty hard-core, for it's time, yet today would be a basic Showtime soft-core movie. |
Halloween? (weird, Carpenter was the first director that sprang to mind when you mention that they both composed the soundtrack because he was the only one off the top of my head that had done that; know he did it in Halloween, but not sure what else).
|
No, not Halloween. But you have the right genre. As opposed to the "Escape From" movies. Think later in his career.
|
guessing: The Fog
|
Nope, it was the remake of Village of the Damned. It was also Christopher Reeves' last movie before his accident.
Ok, off the KINKS and onto Pink Floyd. Who replaced Syd Barrettt? |
David Gilmour
|
I'm pretty sure I'm right, so I'll go ahead and ask the next one.
What legendary singer-songwriter, at the age of 26 or 27, was befriended by the actor who played Grandpa on the Waltons and who helped to further the musician's career? |
You are correct sir.

you all have a great holiday weekend. |
thanks, you too
|
just a wild guess, Johnny Cash?
|
No. Think earlier. He was 20 years younger than the man in black
|
Quote:
|
my guess: Bob Dylan
|
doh! I'm sorry. 20 years OLDER is correct. Bob Dylan is a bit closer to the correct answer. Right style of music.
|
20 years older.... uh.... hank williams?
|
nope. think folk music
|
last guess, Woody Guthrie?
|
bingo. your go
|
damn, good guess. it was between pete seeger and woody.
new question (and an easy one): Name the musician who was arrested in Australia in 2000 for DUI on a motorized scooter. |
LOL
Sounds familiar but I have no clue |
Billy Joel? lol
|
lol nope
think someone who is currently popular and has played in several popular bands (hope that doesn't give it away) |
I remember the story, but can't recall who it was. Dave Grohl comes to mind, but I'm not positive. It does seem to match the hints.
|

It was right after the Big Day Out festival. |
I thought it sounded right. I remeber hearing something about it, but drew a blank when I read the question.
OK, This artist once taught music to autistic children and even toured with Michael Jackson before going solo. Who is she? |
I know Sheryl Crow taughted autistic children (just seen a special on RAVE HD) - Not sure about the MJ thing however....
|
I think she would like to forget the MJ thing as well, but yes it was Sheryl Crow.
|
ok, my turn again finally........
Here is an easy one: U2 were originally going to be called _________. |
IIRC it was something like Hope but i'm not sure.
|
Technically, there are two answers. But I think the one you're looking for is "The Hype". They were called Feedback before Bono joined. I'll wait to make sure one of these two answers was what you're looking for.
|
Quote:
You got it! |
Ok,
Name the 70's rocker that acted alongside Tom Hanks and Shelley Long in "The Money Pit" |
I've watched that movie everytime it's been on TBS, USA, Comedy Central and the like and don't remembe any 70's rockers in it. I may have to watch it again.
|
My wording may have been misleading... it was truly a "bit" part.
I believe he played the foreman of the crew that was rebuilding the house. |
Been racking my brain most of the day, but for some reason Michael Des Barres keeps coming to mind.
/S.W.A.G. |
Nope, but not a bad guess. Des Barres did alot of acting. I wish I could give a hint, but the only hints I can give would truly give it away.
|
Seen it more than once and I haven't a damn clue.
|
I had no idea of the answer and looked it up on IMDB.com and I still couldn't figure it out. Either the person isn't listed or I just don't recognize the name.
|
The answer is none other than Leslie West of Mountain.
Alright... on to an easier one: After Keith Moon's untimely death, Kenny Jone's took over as drummer for the Who. What band was Kenny in right before that. |
I wanna say The (Small) Faces. Is that right?
|
That is correct Sion, It was the Small Faces and became the Faces.
Your question |
well, Im about fresh out of trivia, but I managed to dredge up this little tidbit:
when Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons were auditioning guitar players for the band that would eventually become Kiss, Ace Frehley came in wearing two different colored sneakers. What were the two colors? |
Wow, you did dig deep!!!
I believe they were Red and Black. I'm not entireley sure, but I do know another tidbit about that audition. If I am correct, I'll follow up with it. |
you got one of the two correct. if this goes on long enough to get close to stumper status, I'll call it close enough. but lets give some others a chance first, 'k?
|
sounds like a plan to me
|
No clue, but I'll guess red and blue
|
Booray, you also got one of the two correct.
edit: you also mis-spelled inebriated in your signature. just thought you might want to correct that. |
doh! thanks. I copied and pasted it from somewhere. I guess I'll let someone else guess using the info from the last two guesses
|
OK, lets try black and blue!
|
ok, so this have reached official stumper status. as per agreement above, I'm giving GoT credit for a correct answer and its his turn.
the correct answer, according to the article I read, was one red, one orange sneaker. |
Well, as promised I will ask the follow up about the same audition.
As the story goes, Ace walked into the audition with one red and one orange sneaker (Thanks Sion) and plugged in his guitar into the amp of the person who was auditioning at the time. This person later came into play in two different times. Once was during the studio sessions for Alive II, I won't give away the other...yet. Who was the person rudely interrupted by Ace? |
i've heard this story before and if i remember correctly, it was rick derringer.
|
Nope, Rick was rumored to have played on the studio side of Alive II, but never performed with KISS until the guitar solo of "Exciter" on the "Lick it Up" album.
The next clue is this person's brother had a big time connection to the band during the non-makeup years. |
Looks like it was a stumper.
The guitarist that Ace frehley interrupted was Bob Kulick, older brother of Bruce. Bob played on 4 of the 5 studio tracks on the 4th side of Alive II. Bob was asked to join later on when they were going through problems, but he had other things going on and later recommend his brother instead. New question. Which members of Lynyrd Skynyrd perished in the October 1977 plane crash? |
Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. I'm not sure if there were any other actual band members but I think Steve Gaines' sister did too.
|
that's right. I believe her name was Cassie. She was a backup singer
|
well presuming that I'm right I'll put the next question up...
Allen Ginsberg would appear on stage during some of what band's shows? |
Yes, you are correct KWSN.
And Booray was also correct, her name was Cassie. |
Ginsberg on stage with....Jefferson Airplane??
|
Quote:
|
Nope.
Think punk. |
Ramones?
