I can't come up with a question. If someone's got one, go ahead and ask.
|
I jump in. Haven't been in here in awhile.
What was Bob Seger's only number one hit? |
Shakedown
What day of the week did Peter Tosh die? |
Quote:
Sad really, he had much better hits. |
Im going to revive this thread with an easy one:
what did the wind cry? |
Mary.
Name the first band Nick Cave was in. |
most would say The Birthday Party but it was The Boys Next Door, if im not mistaken?
|
ok here is another aussie question about my absolute FAVOURITE band of all time...
in what year were grinspoon unearthed by Triple J? a couple of bonus questions too just for the fun of it... where were they unearthed from? and what song did they submit as the winning song? |
I don't know what year, but they're kiwi arent they?
|
brrr... wrong answer... here is a hint. they come from australia
|
Quote:
1995. Not sure where they're from, but I'm pretty sure the winning song was Sickfest. *sighs* I really, really, really wish I lived in Australia and could go to Big Day Out. *pouts* I hate festivals here in the South, they're always in freakin' August when it's 9000* outside..... and the lineups always suck. *sobs* Beastie Boys! I'm missing the Beastie Boys! Gods, now I have to think of a question...... I shall return, when a question has been formulated..... |
OK, question time:
Only one family ever had three generations have number one hits on Billboard's Hot 100. Who is the family, and who are the members of each generation to have the hit(s)? For a bonus: Name the year and the hits, too. |
Quote:
|
yeah Bryndian_Dhai it was Sickfest that they won with, very good considering you dont live in australia.
as for the big day out... IM GOING NAH NAH :p it will be pretty hot because it is in the middle of summer here too. Quote:
also, can you still get boys next door stuff? i have a best of the birthday party cd which is great. |
Quote:
*grins* I have a lifelong thing about Australian bands, starting with Men at Work, and continuing through today. Two of my best friends live in Australia. My ex is Australian..... *grins* I should probably just pack up and move. heheheh..... I have no freakin' clue why they persist in scheduling concerts..... outdoor concerts no less..... here in mid-summer.... It would make more sense to schedule winter concerts here and summer concerts up north.... Mitigate all the heat and sun stroke, y'know? *sighs* I'm a big ol' fat grrl.... I'm not draggin' my fat ass to New Orleans to battle punks half my age in 100+* heat to hear bands that sound better in my cd player. *snorts* I'm thinkin'.... No thanks. lol |
Quote:
Re: Birthday Party stuff...you can almost get any indie stuff on the Waterfront Records site via mail order. You should check it out. Quote:
|
The connection between Lynard Skynard and .38 Special is that they are both bands, and they both play music
|
*pouts* Ok, y'all, I thought this was a particularly easy question....
No takers? |
ummmm and I HATE southern Rock but how about....
THEY BOTH HAVE A VAN ZANT???!!!?? I think that is a correct answer so I ask the next??? Here we go... and this should be an easy one for the older rock lovers... particullary Kwise I believe would know.... Pink Floyds song...Shine on You Crazy Diamond... is a tribute to whom?? and what is the signigicance of said person? Long Live Floyd |
the tribute is to Syd Barrett, who was one of the founders of Pink Floyd. Barrett went off the deep end shortly after the release of Floyd's first album, which led to the emergence of Roger Waters as the groups main songwriter and de facto leader.
Who was "the walrus"? |
The walrus was Paul.
Everyone loves a conspiracy, don't they? What was the cause of death for Fred 'Sonic' Smith? |
Uh, folks, where exactly did this thread go off??
Highway asked the last question, I answered it (correctly) and posted the next. If the Van Zandt answer was to my question, then you're wrong. I wish people would read the whole thread before answering. |
I was confused by that too.
|
Confusion from Booray indicates that a new question is needed-
released August 11, 1976 ~this bands album was thought by not a few to be the resurrection of no less than ""The Beatles" reunited"" due to it's lyrical and musical content. What was the albums title? not the band. the TITLE of their first album is what I'm after. |
As the thread originator, I need to answer this before it hit's page two.....
I believe it's Klatuu, 3:47 EST. |
I'm thoroughly disappointed! However, I have to admit- I haven't been contributing to this thread much any more. Used to be a lot of heavy traffic. Anyways, hopefully I can get some interest in trivia again.
Name two lead singers from the band Rainbow! |
Ronnie James Dio and Joe Lynn Turner?
|
That's correct Gboz, Sorry for the long delay in the answer, but once again, my computer is having issues!
|
Alas, it looks like my music trivia thead is dying a slow death. I will try to continue keeping it active as much as possible, but sure could use some help. My computer is still acting up, and I really don't have as much time on my hands as I used to.
Anyways, on to a new question: Name the former drummer for such acts as Black Sabbath, Rainbow, and the Brian May Band who passed away from a tragic car accident in 1998. |
Quote:
Is it Cosey (sp?) Powell?? |
Yes, Cozy Powell is the correct answer- awesome drummer, great loss to the music world. Your question...
|
Yack! lol... Gimme a few, I'll be back with a question.
|
Quote:
a few? minutes? hours? days? |
*grins* Wasn't sure exactly if I'd need a few hours, minutes, whatever.... lol
Anyway, here it is.... What band did Kerry King of Slayer briefly play for? |
no idea on the Slayer question without a search!
|
i'm gonna say megadeath.........
|
Quote:
|
Yup its Megadeth. Ok, someone else's turn.
|
sweet.............ok
give me the name of the original drummer for Rush before Neil Peart |
John Rutsey
Weird thing is I was just talking about that with someone just recently. He didn't believe Neil was not on the first album. OK lets see who knows their country. Toby Keith had a hit on his first album based on one line from a classic rock song. Name the song & artist. (If you know one, you know the other) |
No takers yet????
Alright the song Toby lifted the line from was a Bob Seger song. Anyone know which one?? |
Like A Rock?
(just a wild guess) |
No, Toby Keith lifted the line "I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then" from Seger's "Against the Wind"
He turned it into a top 10 hit on his first album. I thought it was pretty interesting how he took one line from a song (and a damn good one it was) and made it into seperate song. He didn't just remake "Against the Wind" He gave the line it's own life. Anyways, I can't think of anything right now, so I'll toss it out to the masses. |
In spite of my horrible track record with questions, I'm all for never-say-die, lol....
So, here goes.... What did Brian May name his first electric guitar, which he made himself? |
Spot?
....... |
Uh... Nope, lol.
|
Quote:
special red or .......red special i think.........fuckin' sweet guitar too. |
trying to kick start this thread YET AGAIN.
this group had a huge album that featured a waitress on the cover, and their name sounds like the title of a porn flick. name them. |
SuperTramp - Breakfast in America is the recording
Tom Wilson currently fronts Blackie & the Rodeo Kings (current hit: Had enough of you) what was his former (super) group? |
Junkhouse
go ahead Janey....ask another .............i'm stumped at the moment |
still wonderin' if i got the Brian May Q right or not
|
ok. let's see. What hard rocking band from Vancouver did James Newton sing for?
|
Quote:
Dude, sorry... Yes, it was Red Special. *smiles* I'm caught up in some party planning, haven't been online too much. |
Quote:
this is a tough Q......any clues,hints? |
the current question is WAY over being a stumper...we need an answer an a new, hopefully easier question, Janey.
|
*bump*
come on guys |
Is it legal to use Google?
|
sorry, I was indisposed. I apologize: Perhaps they are too obscure. II didnt think so tho. how about:
What Vancouver band was led by the recently passed Doug Bennet? (rip) the answer for James newton was Sons-of-Freedom... |
doug and the slugs........
|
Quote:
You should know the answer. It is permissable to research within your own collection though. I have been known to refer to old albums to double-check spelling and such. |
Time to resurrect this thread.
Who are Brett Anderson, Maya Ford, Allison Robertson & Torry Castellano better known as? |
oh yeah man..............the donnas.
someone can ask the next Q. |
You got it Flyman
|
|
OK. I'll take a guess ... it's part of UB40.
|
fine young cannibals...........
someone else can ask again. |
Ok it's time to bump this and get it moving again, great threads should never die.
How did Alice Cooper get the name Alice Cooper? Extra points if you know the irony of it. |
Let me bite on this one :)
Alice Cooper was the name of a 17th century witch. Aaaand the irony. Vincent Furnier is now a Christian. Is that irony? am I correct? (I'll be back with a question) |
this one captivated the entire breakroom today.
70's ness... "Inna Gadda Divida" who was it? not Steppenwolf. btw...i know now |
Quote:
BTW, if I remember correctly, the song was supposed to be titled "In the garden of eden," the whoever wrote it was drunk and kept slurring those words. Who did Dave Mustaine get the idea to name the album "Risk" from? |
YOU ARE CORRECT SIR!
(in retrospect...this was prob'ly 60'sness) Yes with the Iron Butterfly!(on all accounts) my breakroom comrades would be impressed. Well, headbanger spectre, I know Mustaine from Metallica and Megadeth but will have to pass on the answer to this. Risk. hmm... |

Alice Cooper's name was brought about by a Ouija board and he was always a Christian, born a pastor's son and very strong in belief..... it can be heard even in his earliest music. |
OK - easy one.
What session musician played for Bowie and Elton John before going solo and running the largest loss making show then staged in the UK? For a bonus, what was the show? |
Herbie Flowers?
|
Nigel (can't think of his last name) the guitar player?
|
I think it was Herbie Flowers too. He worked in Val Doonican's TV show. Is this the answer?
