I was talking about alot of things that were nebulous, but the question first sparked from cd's new avatar.
Cat Stevens I overuse the [wiki] tags because nobody else realizes how useful their function is. And, more often than not, I use them for myself to learn more about something i don't know anything about; in this case: Cat Stevens. ---------- Post added at 05:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:42 PM ---------- you, know, I might own an album or two of his on tape, but I never knew his name, fame, or his face. The First Cut is the Deepest (he should know) |

I wonder what 'uncle_phil's original username used to be?
|
The artist formerly known by his stage name Cat Stevens now has the name Yusuf Islam, although he was born Steven Demetre Georgiou.
You recently mentioned, and I agree, getting a reasonable quick perspective on a subject from the wikipedia page, so Cat Stevens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I think Tea For the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat are my favorite Cat Stevens albums. |
Uncle phil reminds me of phil collins

Oh, I thought it was a near-staple that the "in-crowd" at TFP need to change their username no less than 26 months after joining previously. 'Swat i'm witnessing everywhere with familiar writing tones, but unfamiliar names.
At least my name is still "Jet", in some form, or "Jetty" (Eddie) to produce another. Too bad I chose a female familiar object name in French. I don't think too many people notice it. |
I'm not really all that bad, usually, but due to my initial attraction to the titty board, my Catholic parochial childhood drew guilty memories out of those mammaries.
|
So, you're thinking of changing your name as well?
|
no, why would I do that? i am what i am and

I especially love the loofa on my hoofa ...i.e., on the souls of my hoofas. It's a fine dance between too much tickle, removal of dead skin, invigorating the feet, and pure eroticism. I have been called ticklish nicholash ...and my last name rhymes with that, too. |

 not that there's anything wrong with that......... |
not to me...my first two loves were both Christine Chrissy's. My first love Christine started when I met her on the sliding board in kindergarden and that lasted until 6th grade. We were such a nice couple, always standing next to each other, playing footsies until I was orgasmic, though at the time I didn't know what the feeling was about, we were always partners in all the school plays, and we stood next to each other during spelling bees. I'm sure I coulda married her and lived happily ever after. Then she dumped me for an older guy about ready to move up to the big time...high school. So after being shattered for a while, I found my second Christine and fell in love with her for a while. She was real cute, but something about this relationship never quite compared to the first Christine. When we had our 25th reunion of our 8th grade graduation, the first Christine couldn't make it but all the girls called her on the phone and had me talking to her. I wonder where she is now?

Maggie's Drawers
by James Stockton A hundred Marines sat on the line, Rapid fire, and all was fine. The rifles cracked, Bull's Eyes, we know; Down came the targets, now they'll show. White spotters adorned targets left and right, Looked like snow, a pretty sight. But Wait!!!! What's that where I shot? Not a single one! . . . not one white spot. I look for black ones 'round the "bull," No luck there either, I feel a chill. They start the disks, white for bulls, None for mine . . . there they were still. A single pole rose o'er the butts Waved back and forth, like in a rut. A red flag waving, a miss of course, And that red flag is "Maggie's Drawers." Suddenly a commotion is heard on line, I thought, "My coach, and it's my time." But a good-lookin' dame comes down the track: "My name is Maggie — and I wants 'em back." |
you amaze me phil.
I am not sure why it scares me......... |

Did you resize the image, Mr Nick? Or did Photobucket do that automatically for you?
Responding to your "lack of sports knowledge", I was in the same boat up until a few years ago. In fact, I didn't even know who the Colts beat in the Super Bowl a few 'I's ago. I eventually found out it was the Bears. I've dedicated a certain portion of time to learn all the positions, teams, standings, and nuances, and I've succeeded in less than a year, but am learning more and more each day. Someday, I might yet learn the difference between "shotgun" and "play-action", whatever those mean. And, then, what separates a "4-3" from a ''3-4'' defense. |
I have my PB pic size currently set for 1024 X 768 ...and the pic above seems smaller so I imagine they might have downsized it.
I waver in and out of being into sports...when I'm into it I follow all the details. For some reason during the last few years I've been only casually interested. I know "shotgun" is when the QB stands back a few yards behind the center instead of that more intimate position with his hands up the center's crotch. The center then hikes the ball to the QB back there and it allows a bit more of a buffer from the attacking defenders, as well as a little variety to confuse and open other options. |
What sports do you (have you) follow(ed)?
For me, I don't think I'll be able to appreciate baseball until I'm in my 60s. I like to live fast, and that's not a very engaging sport to me. Since 2001-02, I've been following, just as you have, the NFL, very casually. Up until 2-3 years ago, I only tuned in to watch the Super Bowls. Yet, still, I missed quite a few of them (Bears v. Colts , Giants v. Patriots ... remember, that was the time I went missing all those months?) I actually slept through most of the game, and when I awoke, it looked to have been in progress already for 3 hours (maybe only 8 min. left in the game). I decided what a waste, and not to watch any of it. (my TV was not turned on.) What a mistake. if anything, the only watchable portion of that game was the final 8 minutes. Out of the loop I am. I also sparingly watch F1, the American Le Mans series, trying to get into hockey more (but with no TV, no dice). Tennis is perhaps the only other sport in which I am truly engaged and at one with... it is kind of shocking that nobody here is talking about the Andre Agassi "drug addiction" story. I posted it only a day after it broke. |

Jet, you probably noticed that the Phillies won the World Series last year, so they were the defending world champs. So I watched quite a few of their games this year, and of course all of the post season games. I hear a lot of people say baseball is not fast paced enough, but I enjoy it. I think if you get more into the subtle actions and reactions, the play to play strategies and counter-moves, many of which are not blatantly obvious unless you become aware of them or the commentators discuss the moves...to me baseball is like the ball game version of chess.
Ahh, you mention American LeMans series...sports car racing is what I enjoy watching the most since I'm somewhat of a motorhead and even participate in driving my own car on roadcources a few times a year. So that gives me even more appreciation for how well many of the pros drive. I do like tennis, but I only watch the really big tournaments. I've always enjoyed college basketball a lot. Billiards and pool, too. I wish we saw more snooker in the U.S. When she comes on my wife usually leaves the room since I got the obvious hots for Allison Fisher ...besides appreciating her fantastic skills. Vivian Villareal is also very talented and sultry. Hmmmm, I can't forget the Black Widow herself...Jeanette Lee http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...anettelee3.jpg As soon as we rearrange our house and move my one son up to our 3rd floor I'm getting a nice pool table since I like to play. |
I've seen Miss Jeanette Lee on more than one occasion.
She's just about the only billiards pro I know by name. ---------- Post added at 12:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:56 AM ---------- I just noticed... if you say her name really fast and/or combo it, it sounds alot like what's above "the bunnies fall" |

Chargers jolt the Birds. Rivers engineers the drive. I need to move to the West Coast again and properly root for my (winning) teams.
Westbrook's coaches want to put him on IR after second concussion in a month. Shame. |
I like Westbrook a lot, but with these multiple concussions, I think it's time for him to hang up the helmet.
Jet, other than that just remember what the Beach Boys said: I wish they all could be California girls The West coast has the sunshine And the girls all get so tanned I dig a french bikini on Hawaii island Dolls by a palm tree in the sand I been all around this great big world And I seen all kinds of girls Yeah, but I couldn't wait to get back in the states Back to the cutest girls in the world I wish they all could be California |
