Jet, I was image hunting surf pics and found this familiar looking one
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...g/surfing5.jpg |
Yeah, I've been meaning to ask you if you wanted more versions of that painting/picture, but I got sidetracked posting bunnyfish and snowmoners elsewhere.
Wikipedia has a very large (and I'm guessing original snapshot portrayal of the dimensions) multimedia picture. Where would you like the influx of "Great Waves", here or the longest ever chain of Great Waves deviation thread? |
Since I am now the last one to post in this thread, I propose that we post many "great waves" pics in the longest thread to assure its longestness.
So everybody can go home now, this thread is done. |
/me packs up his tent...
(hehe...) |

|
I don't believe I want to see another man dawn at such an hour, in such this life, as 'nother man, face to face, or mano y mano...

It will your rip heart out.

Thanks to everyone for playing. I don't expect a fancy prize, the deep frienships we've forged along the way are reward enough. So I humbly accept the honor as the "last one to post" for all of us. Perhaps we can schedule a rotation to share my trophy during leap years... I'll need to run a background check and get a $500 non-refundable deposit from you prior to your scheduled trophy visitation session.

^ someone's on the wacky weed...

He's plastered off the walls

Sharks have beards. True story. (that's what they all say) |
thump-thump...
|
|
i'd hit it...
|
Just watched "Sharkland" on PBS.
Not sure what to tell you about it, but don't go into the warm waters of the South African tip... you'll be tossed around like a sack of rice. |
It's undoubtedly safer in the water than on land. So no fear here: hippos and gators kill more people than sharks.
...not to mention one of the worst: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/mosquito.jpg |
I just saw a special on Hippos this morning...
now that I look at them, they truly are a weird crop of horse. An aqua horse, that gallops on the water bed. |
I like hippos, too! See...we have another thing in common within this brotherhood of mankind...and sisterhood of womankind, also...add any additional kinds as you wish.
|
I don't really like hippos... they're not my brother
|
can hippos jump off the ground?
|
i bet on the moon they could...we should send a hippo to the moon to check
|
What's the only mammal that cannot jump?
I am willing to bet that you are looking for the Elephant. There are many sites on the web which have stated that the elephant is the only mammal which can not jump. This is NOT the truth. Just on the Web alone there are several others listed including the okapi, guinea pig and raccoon who are also reported as not being able to jump. (see references). In the same class as the elephant, both Hippopotamus and Rhinoceroses come closer to skipping than jumping. Like the elephant, their body mass is too great in relation to their mass. In addition, all bats have weak legs and usually have trouble walking, let alone jumping. It has been recorded that sloths move too slow to jump. Plus they seldom climb down out of their trees. Giraffes are known to run, but apparently always have one “foot on the ground.” Due to their neck structure, it may not be possible for them to jump in the usual meaning of the word. Due to their odd physical shapes and relatively slow speeds, echidna (spiny anteater), duck-billed platypus and koala might also be listed among the non-jumpers. Finally, there are the non-land mammals most of which can come at least part way out of the water, but none have legs and by definition, can not jump. These would include whales, porpoises, dolphins, manatees and maybe even sea lions. Also this: Urban Dictionary: Hippo Jump |
I don't need to win anything,
but I'd like to play. Hippocampus is where they are schooled? |
hippocrates is one of the professors...
|
jehosaphat is the jumping coach and since i'm knowledgeable about physics, i'm coach hypotenuse.
...and with my able assistance, we plan to field a team of jumping hippos on the moon. Due to the reduced gravity, hippos have been observed to jump quite well on the moon, as well as a cow once jumped over the moon, but she's on a different team and her moon jumping record is currently under review due to gender identity questions, she's suspected of being a bull but I believe she just has androgen insensitivity and hope to prove that with a glass of milk...back to the hippos: we coach them to slightly crouch down and as they suddenly extend, the momentum of their weight is enough to exceed the gravity at the moon's surface, thus the entire hippo leaves the surface and is jumping. You other folks can choose one of the other "non jumping" animals and coach a team of those guys. I am available as a Physics of Jumping consultant if needed. |
i am forever enlightened...
(i'm also winning the other thread...) |
don't count your enlightenments before your egg cracks

was this the hippo thread?
|
how do hippos swim so well seeing as they're so damn fat? Human beings would sink like a rock!
|
not true, Xerxys. I have found that large (high body fat) people are more bouyant than some skinny, boney runt.
Otherwise, baby hippos are so cute...though now I'm thinking of that one they pulled out from inside a large snake after they killed the snake ...musta been a boa since anacondas are only in South America. |
babalouie, babalouie, babalouie, babalouie, babalouie, babalouie, babalouie, babalouie, babalouie, babalouie...
