Game on Fresnelly.
Why did I only discover this game on page 58 or so? I played once on page 1 and then let 58 pages of goodness pass me by. If I stray again I implore you to drag me back in :) Dave |
Curious. My screen shows we're only on page 46. Are you from the future? Shouldn't you know all the answers then? :D
Next up: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...osts/essc1.jpg |
I guess it depends on how many posts per page you have set as default.
Is that the Xerox Canada building in Mississauga? |
Hmm. Good idea for a post, but no, it's not the Xerox submarine.
|
is this in the Yukon?
|
Nope. Farther south in a city besides Toronto that I've used before.
|
How's about a hint? :)
|
ya
i think saying farther south than the Yukon, is a bit of a broad hint eh? c'mon Fresnelly give it up! |
Oh the suspense!
It's a tourist attraction/institution in Edmonton. |
That's an old picture of the "Telus World of Science". Used to be the Odyssium. Before that, the Edmonton Space and Science Centre.
Quit it with the Edmonton stuff. I don't want to keep getting them then not having time to post. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...tues_T3299.jpg In Alberta too. Also, although I had this picture on my hard drive, I'm not sure where I got it. The photographer's label has been removed. |
Is that on Whyte Ave in front of the Varscona Theatre?
|
Solid guess, but different firehall in a different city.
(You probably meant the firefighter monument off of 83rd, by the New Theatre) |
Uh, The firehall in Calgary? :D
|
Not in Calgary either.
|
Red Deer
(under that white block it says Rolf Hicker) http://www.hickerphoto.com/data/medi...tues_T3299.jpg I am going to continue becuase as Bossnass stated he does not have that much time on his hands to post an image. Bossnass, correct me if I am wrong. Here we go, next one: http://img316.imageshack.us/img316/5568/example1bx8.jpg |
Indeed, Red Deer it is.
The city (about 80k) has a series of 'ghosts' throughout the downtown. Bronze statues of historic local figures. Some pretty interesting ones, like a casual old man sitting on a bus stop bench. This is of the first fire brigade, outside the old firehall, now library. Also, that faucet isn't at the waterpark at medicine hat is it? |
No, the faucet is not at a waterpark in MEDICINE HAT.
|
Then at Wild Rapids in Sylvan Lake?
|
Nope,
hint (although I am not sure how much of a hint at this point): It is viewable from a highway as you drive by. |
is it out west?
|
I'm pretty sure it is in the west. I'm certain I've seen it recently, but I remember vividly seeing it when I was younger. Then again, the floating faucet is probably not unique to any one waterpark.
|
If you have seen it out west then it is not unique to one water park.
That I guess is hint #2 (i.e. it is not out west) |
Wild Water Kingdom?
|
Nope.
Here is another hint though: This is a map of the Water Park http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/1564/example1vz7.jpg |
How about that one in Kitchener? Bingmans?
|
Confederation Beach in Hamilton
|
Yoo hoooo! Sticky??? are you out there? JTK, it doesn't look like the brochure that Conf. Park has.....
|
Blue Mountain in Collingwood then.
|
"the Piedmont Cascades d’eau! That giant faucet, next to the Laurentian Autoroute at Piedmont, is hard to miss! Jump into the water with us for the coolest summer adventure!"

I am very sorry about that folks. I dissapeared on vacation for two weeks. A couple of days from the end of my vacation the thought occured to me - Oh Shit I left the WHere and I thread hanging. I am glad that rmarshall figured it out. rmarshall, that looks like the area in fron of Places Des Arts in Montreal. You can see PVM in the background. This is proabably a Jazz fest pick. |
OK, I am going to assume I am correct and continue.

Niagara Falls :)
|
Yes sir.
Niagra Falls is correct. |
|
Newfoundland?
|
No, it is not Newfoundland
|
Nice, I just cancelled off a whole provice in one question.
Let's try a little bit of science (I know nothing about science). It looks to me like a sunset rather than a sunrise. It also looks like the sun would be off somewhere over the water horizon. If this is the case then the pic would have to be loking out west. Somewhere in BC? |
That looks like Lake water to me. Is it the Leslie Spit or the mouth of the Humber River on Lake Ontario?
|
No to BC. No to Leslie Spit and Humber Bay. Getting close though.....
|
Mouth of the Credit river? Snug Harbour in Port Credit?
|

P.E.I.?

Port Hope Ont?
|

Centre Island?
|
none of the above.
|
hmmmm a real stumper.
How about Frenchman's Bay? |
NO. A hint. Its on Lake Ontario - West of Toronto.
|
Oakville, Ontario?
|

Mouth of 16 Mile Creek?
|
Good enough. game on.
|
|
Xerox Canada Lab. QEW and Winston Churchill in the state of Mississauga.
If I am indeed correct I would ask someone to take my turn as I am prepping for a trip to Chicago for a week and don't know if I'll be able to check in much as of Friday. |
Woohoo, after weeks of lurking and not know where the hell you guys were, I'll take the freebie.
Let's celebrate with a bridge. Almost the underside of a bridge. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/splck/dfrte.jpg |
that's the tressel on the east side of the Iron workers memorial bridge.
can't remember the name. |

well, other than this is a very difficult sight to guess..... I've got nothing here.... but just to remember a Canadian Hero, and in respect for tomorrow's runs/events, here's something that I stopped by in my travels before (it's not a turn, just a pause to reflect):
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...000/images.jpg |
got it!
Thunder Bay, ON!
Now here's the deal, I don't have a pic to immediately submit, so I'll give my turn to someone else. game on.....whoever! |
Splck, I think you may have us stumped . :)
|
Jeepers, it's not that hard.
Think Alberta...maybe look for a footbridge or a suspension bridge. I know there are some good googlers here...don't let me down. |
The only search string that I did not try was "Suspension Bridge Alberta"
The Rosedale Suspension Bridge, Rosedale Alberta |
I found that one too, but there is mountains in the background on that one, did you find a different angle?
|

Bring on the obscure storefront Sticky! |
Here you go, a not so obscure storefront.
This is a really easy one so you will have to be really specific. http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/4849/example5sz7.jpg ***Edit: Here is a bigger version from a little different angle http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/3328/example1ns9.jpg |
comics and more on the Danforth?
|
nope
Let me know if it is too hard or if people are just not playing (actually if people are not playing then they won't see this and they won't be able to tell me). |
any chance of a full size picture? My screen is too damn small to see these small ones :P
|
Larger version posted above

Is it some (in)famous Montreal Strip club?
|
Supersexe!!! ...in Montreal... St. Catharine St. (anyone growing up in or around Montreal knows thats where your mom works)
Where is this? http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...k/S3000006.jpg |
Halifax, Nova Scotia
|
But of course....
Game on, Sticky!! |
OK,
Front view http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/6873/example1em8.jpg And side view http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/1336/example2wh3.jpg I was going to give only the front view but I though it was too hard. |
Maybe some help is needed?
Here are some other angles: The top view of the lawn and the statue on the lawn. http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/977/statwindgt8.jpg A close up of the statue http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/8649/statuelq6.jpg I will give you guys another try. |
That statue looks to me like Emily Carr, but this house is neither her childhood home or the Emily Carr Institute. Is that her?
|
hint the statue is not Emily Carr.
Just kidding, the hint is that the statue is a man. |
Alright, the person the statue is of is also a doctor.
|
this I believe, is the Dr Frederick Banting house in London Ontario.
Canadian Dr's Frederick Banting and Charles Best were credited with discovering Insulin. (thanks for the hint, it had to be Bethune, Best or Banting.... ) additional edit: i found a good descriptive link on this site: http://www.diabetes.ca/Section_About/bantingIndex.asp with a brief excerpt: Banting House National Historic Site celebrates not only a great Canadian discovery, but the life and career of a truly great Canadian - Sir Frederick Grant Banting (1891-1941). At Banting House National Historic Site you can step back into history to experience one of the great moments of medical science in the twentieth century - the discovery of insulin - a moment that signified new hope for diabetes sufferers the world over. Okay, Sticky, since I think I've nailed this, I will post the next pic: The under side of.... ???? http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/52c36266.jpg |
Would that be a lift lock in the Trent Severn Waterway? Possibly in the Peterborough area?
|
i think that you are close enought to keep this thread moving. It is indeed the underside of the Peterborough Liftlock on the Trent-Severn.
Game on Daval! (here is the shot from above, these were taken in July) http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/831ca0b2.jpg |
