is that Osoyos?
|
I don't know this one, but noticed that Charlatans post is #2000 great thread this, congratulations everyone.
|
cool. And coming from a Mod, this means that we are using the application in a good way!
( I still say that pic is interior BC, like Osoyos or Penticton) |
Game on Leto...
I figured putting it on Splk's doorstep would give him something to chew on... Looks like Toronto wins again! |
LOL, nice easy one and I'm stuck on a damn ferry to the island.

Ahh, back home after yet another trip to the Island...damn BC ferries.
Granville street bridge? thanks for the soft pitch Leto |
surprisingly, this is Not the Granville street bridge.
-- my brother just sold his place in Gibson's taking his last trip on the Langdale ferry and is now in Haliburton Ont for about a month. But he intends to move back and get a place in Robert's creek.... |
bah, burrard st bridge....
Roberts creek is a nice area of the sunshine coast, - the damn ferry. My sister lives on Bowen island, nice place, but dealing with the ferries sucks. Can you tell I'm sick of riding those boats? My job takes me to every single two-bit island out there... |

|

|
Campbell river it is.
Game on Sticky... |
damn...........always late for the easy ones.......
whatcha got sticky.......winters almost here so i gots me some time to play. |
|
is that in prince george Sticky?
|
Nope.
Here is a hint that can be used for almost any pic I post in this thread. in Canada, I have been east, but I have only been west of Ontario once for one night. It is unlikely, unfortunately for me, that any pic I post will be from the west. I have to get there someday. |
Way back in grade school, we went on a Bus-trip to Montreal and Quebec City. Somewhere along the way we went to an outdoor skating park, but have no idea exactly where it was. Am I on the right track?
|
You are on the right tracks, however, like everywhere else in Canada if you go somewhere in the winter you are going to find a thousand places to skate.
|
winnipeg manitoba......?
last time i was there i was 10 so..........stab in the dark eh. |
Fly see the post I made above

Rideau Canal?
|
nope.
Part of the name of the place is a prominent Canadian symbol (icon). I am not going to be around for a few days so here is a spoiler Spoiler: spoiler content removed |
No bites?
I am removing what is under the spoiler above. OK another hint, the Canadian icon that U was talking about is the beaver. |
Beaver Lake, Montreal?
|
Yes sir.
I wonder if it was a stumper or just lack of participation. |
|
Kingston Ontario?
|
I'll need something more specific than that, but you're on the right track!
|
"Portsmouth Olympic Harbour"
|
I was looking for Kingston Penitentiary (across the water), but it is Portsmouth Olympic Harbour. Game on Fly!!
|

Ahhh... memories.... |

nice.......... where we at here fellas? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...lighthouse.jpg |
I guess we need a hint? :)
|
BC?.......
|
I dunno, looks too flat to be BC.... Maritimes? is it Sable Island?
|
that is actually a lake that the lighthouse is on.
it is in the east .......and Sticky might not have made it this far into his western journies. that's the hint of the day |
I am from Regina Saskatchewan
|
that is not where this is at.........
and welcome to the ride........ |
too hard guys?
want me to give it up? |
fly gives it up for anyone...
...at least that's what paddy joe told me. |
see.....you move out of the country and join forces with that nutjob......
poor, poor Charlie....... the pic is in Manitoba by the way |
Manitoba has a lighthouse? huh...
Gull Island? |
negative.........
|
George Island?
|
you're up splck
|
Phew! that was a hard one.
By the way, I'm going for the BC Lions. Go Lions! |
|
CFB Cold Lake Alberta
|
i think thats mt baker in the background..........i'm gonna say the abbotsford airport.
|
fly (formerly man) has it.
|
ya
Mt Baker is a giveaway. nice shot. I worked at the airshow there (parking cars) back in 1980. what a great place for seeing airplanes! |
saweet..........
stay with the lighthouses then i guess....... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...g?t=1164079146 |
Looks like somewhere in PEI
|
nope.....look west my friend.........
|
Fisgard Lighthouse, British Columbia
First Permanent Light House on Canada's West Coast |
game on cdnjeepin
nicely done |
Now this might be a little harder...I took the pic, you have to look on the east coast of canada..You have to hike to get to this spot or take a boat to the bottom of the "pond" and hike up to where we are..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...in/contest.jpg |
Gros Morne?
|
Quote:
|
Western Brook Fjord
|
you are correct..but its western brook pond...everything over there is a pond
|
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...nass/mount.jpg
I'm terribly biased because of the time I spent here back in the day, so I don't know if this is easy or impossible. |
wow. We have a beautiful country!
|
Quote:
no doubt!!!! nothing compares....... |
Moraine Lake...near banff?
2nd guess is Sudbury  |
Well, it is in the Rocky Mountains, and it is in SW-ish Alberta, but not that close to Banff.
Notice the groomer tracks. |
I saw the groomer tracks, but the mountains don't look familiar. I thought maybe it was Xcountry skiing.
How about Marmot Basin? |
I saw the groomer tracks, but the mountains don't look familiar. I thought maybe it was Xcountry skiing.
How about Marmot Basin? |
Not Marmot.
Signifcantly, not an Intrawest OR a RCR mountain. |
oh, Fortress?
|
and i thought the first lighthouse i posted was tough..........
|
Fortress it is. It was wonderfully/terribly windy some days. The snow blowing off the peaks is one of my favorite sights.
I spent in the neighborhood of 60 days a year on snow at the Fort for about 5 years in a row. While it doesn't have the vertical of Sunshine, Louise, or even Marmot, it did have a ton of snow, decent 'off-piste' territory (some of it in-bounds), and plenty of moguls. They used to be really good to us freestyle folk. I haven't been since I moved to Edmonton (4.5 years ago), but I hear the new management hasn't done much good... yet. |
nothing wrong with the smaller hills if the snow is good.
Looks like fortress may go the same way the local ski hill out this way has gone...tits up.:| Quote:
oops, forgot to post new location.. WTF is this double post shit? Meh, it's like 24 hours later...whatever... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/splck/ert.jpg |
Looks like Silverstar. Hard to say for sure; my first thought was Apex... The lack of real mountains and the flattened hills in the distance are pulling at some memories, but I just can't place it, other than interior.
|
nope, none of the above.
|
i'm gonna say that is in smithers
|
I'm not sure how to proceed other than guessing. I still think its an interior BC hill. I've only been to panorama a couple times years ago, so I don't recognize anything. I could be very early or late season Fernie, but not quite.
Kimberly? |
not Smithers or Kimberly.
It's south west of kimberly. |
Quote:
There aren't a whole lot of places south of Kimberly... Fernie would be my first guess, but I know that is to the east of Kimberly without looking at a map. I've been to Apex, which is west of, and I think south of Kimberly, but I think you already took that as one of my guesses. I think Big White is more north too, but that could be the little village in your picture. After a bit of looking at a map, I think it is Mt. Baldy. |
yeah, Smithers is way North.
This place is very close to the US border in the Kootenays. I thought you'd know it. |
Damn, so did I. Several years of my life were devoted to being on snow.
Red Mountain? One of my coaches way back when was from Rossland too. |
there ya go, Red mountain. fantastic skiing there if you like steep shit and lots of snow (who doesn't?)
You're up. |
I think I would have been depressed if I hadn't eventually got it.
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...file_image.jpg |
Tim Horton's near Whitehorse?
|
Nope. The picture scaling is misleading... it would make one gigantic tims.
|
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. it would.
|
This is in Alberta. You can buy coffee inside, at least I assume so.
|
jasper lodge?
|
It is kinda in the middle of nowhere. Sure, you could say the same thing about jasper, but this is even more in the middle of nowhere. A somewhat significant drive to anything sizable.
|
the rim rock?
|
Banff is not in the middle of nowhere. Banff is one of the 'sizable' locations that you would have to drive to from the above posted picture.
|
damn that's a tough one Boss
|
Quote:
-Isolated, a bit of a drive away -looks like it is in the mountains -Alberta doesn't have that many mountain roads, and they pretty much just connect the dots between sights. -somewhat related to Banff, in that one of the places closest to it is Banff -if anyone other than Fly or Splck was complaining, I'd be annoyed. It isn't a Toronto bridge. Quote:
