This one I expect to be guessed within 5 minutes, it should be super easy :)

aberkok 09-25-2006 10:23 AM

Is that the Madison? (Madison Ave., Toronto)

Daval 09-25-2006 10:33 AM

It is indeed. Game on Aberkok

Leto 09-26-2006 04:18 AM

Ahh, I've heard of the Madison. Isn't it a UofT hangout?

Daval 09-26-2006 04:46 AM

it is indeed, right on the corner of Madison and Bloor. Right in the heart of Fraternity Row. I love the place.

aberkok 09-26-2006 06:57 AM

Alrighty then...
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...Canadanext.jpg

Daval 09-26-2006 07:12 AM

that would be the bloor viaduct. the suicide barrier is the easy giveaway.

In the event that I am correct, I forfeit my turn - game on to whoever wants a turn to post a pic.

aberkok 09-26-2006 07:56 AM

Dang it! I gotta travel more. Game on whoever!!

splck 09-26-2006 09:30 AM

I'll jump...

Daval 09-26-2006 10:43 AM

Lonsdale Quay in Vancouver.

Game on whoever, someone post a new one.

Sticky 09-26-2006 11:40 AM

OK,

Here you go
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/4989/example1qy1.jpg

Leto 09-26-2006 12:56 PM

OMG!!! it's the topside of a bridge.....

oh wait it a minute, I was too fast. It's the first topside/underside bridge picture.

Sticky 09-28-2006 08:53 AM

Is it too hard or is their just no action on this therad?

fresnelly 09-28-2006 09:02 AM

Yeah, it's probably time for a hint. :)

Daval 09-28-2006 09:39 AM

I just thought I'd give the rest of you a chance :) I have no clue where that is though.

Sticky 09-28-2006 09:56 AM

The hint is: Montreal.

Daval 09-28-2006 10:04 AM

jacqes cartier bridge?

Sticky 09-28-2006 10:20 AM

No, not the Jacques Cartier

Daval 09-28-2006 10:31 AM

hmm...hows about the Mercier bridge? Or Champlain bridge.

I'm trying really hard not to google it.

Sticky 09-28-2006 11:23 AM

Google it man, it is more fun that way.

Not the Mercier or the Champlain, but good tries for no googling.

Take not of the interesting structure (or setup) of the bridge.

Leto 09-28-2006 01:29 PM

yes, it does appear to turn to the right half way across.

Pont Victoria Bridge?

That would be my guess too..

Sticky 09-29-2006 05:19 AM

Victoria Bridge it is.

The bridge has one lane of one way traffice on either side with a rail line in the middle.

Game on Leto

Leto 09-29-2006 07:24 AM

okey dokey.... here we go, This may be obscure for some, but give it a whirl:

http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u...Where/mill.jpg

Sticky 09-29-2006 08:17 AM

Watson's Mill Manitock Ontario?

Leto 09-29-2006 11:13 AM

Nope. although it is a mill in Ontario.

(off to google where the heck is Manitock...)

Daval 10-03-2006 04:39 AM

methinks its time for a hint?

fresnelly 10-03-2006 05:12 AM

The old mill in Aberfoyle, Ontario, near Guelph?

Leto 10-03-2006 08:18 AM

nope, not Aberfoyle. Hmmm, I konw Guelph, but I'm off to google another town I never heard of...

Daval, another hint is what you want? you got it:

You may be able to see this mill from the CN tower, or better yet, you probably can spot it from the top of the Drop Zone...

Daval 10-03-2006 11:03 AM

Black Creek Pioneer village?

Leto 10-03-2006 01:16 PM

Game on Daval! (good one!)

That mill is a working mill, and the flour that they make is used over in the village's restaurant. This year the wheel was being repaired because of ice damage sustained over the winter.

Next door to the mill is a cooper shop, where the cooper explained to me that a firkin is a barrel which holds 9 gallons.

Here's a link to a site that has almost the same pic as I took:

Here we go....

Leto 10-03-2006 01:21 PM

white river ontario??

Daval 10-03-2006 01:22 PM

nope, not Whiteriver Ontario.

Daval 10-05-2006 07:56 AM

Hint:- This is in south-east ontario

Leto 10-06-2006 03:22 AM

Morrisburg?

Daval 10-06-2006 04:37 AM

No. Not Morrisburg

Leto 10-06-2006 07:02 PM

close at all?

Scorps 10-08-2006 11:57 PM

I live in south-eastern Ontario and I have never seen that!

Leto 10-09-2006 09:40 AM

Napanee or Picton?

Daval 10-10-2006 11:10 AM

Sorry guys, I was away for the long weekend. You guys are pretty close. It is in the thousand islands area.

Leto 10-10-2006 12:38 PM

Gananoque or Rockport?

I see an American & Canadian flag in the background, so perhaps it is a border crossing like the Thousand Islands bridge...

Sticky 10-10-2006 01:30 PM

Landsdowne Ontario

splck 10-10-2006 09:38 PM

Is it in Gananoque?

Daval 10-11-2006 05:52 AM

Gananonque is correct - Game on Leto!

Leto 10-11-2006 06:55 AM

whoo hoo! (after living in Kingston for years, you would think that I would have that right off... Is that fish a muskie?)

Okay, here's a good one:

http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u...here/vball.jpg

Sticky 10-11-2006 09:00 AM

Grand Bend?

Leto 10-12-2006 04:59 AM

Nope, this is not Grand Bend.

fresnelly 10-12-2006 05:14 AM

East end of the beach at Ashbridges bay in Toronto!

Leto 10-12-2006 07:59 AM

Game on Fresnelly!

a wonderful beach, and on that day there was a nice enough wind, that there were some people para-sailing over the water.

fresnelly 10-13-2006 05:10 AM

Sorry for the delay. Here's a fun one. :)

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../beetlebug.jpg

Bossnass 10-13-2006 06:53 AM

VW spider is from Kenora, Ontario.

Playing with the camera from my buddy's new apartment.

This is in Edmonton. That could have been guessed easily enough. I'd like to know where, and in what direction.

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...af9d2b7a_b.jpg

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...2a298001_b.jpg

Leto 10-13-2006 10:20 AM

i see a sports stadium in the distance. is that Commonwealth Stadium?

Sticky 10-13-2006 10:58 AM

I believe Leto is right.

Some Google Mapping helped me find this
http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/7059/example1uy0.jpg

So the top pic is you taking a picture facing north. The big street on the right is Jasper Avenue.

Bossnass 10-13-2006 01:06 PM

Game on Sticky. Nice work.

I thought this would have taken a little longer. The panorama is centred NE, the river shot is pretty much due east.

I guessed the stadium would give it away. I also would have taken "Riverside Golf", a nice public course that is municipally run. Mostly I wanted an excuse to post the picture.

While it is a nice apartment, we joke that he has moved to the 'hood'. The building pretty much marks the end of Jasper Ave, then there is about a kilometer where its sketchy, then downtown proper, which is less sketchy (while on Jasper).

Fly 10-16-2006 06:48 AM

who's up fellas?

Leto 10-16-2006 07:43 AM

It's Sticky's game at the moment....

Sticky 10-16-2006 08:08 AM

oops, sorry. I thought it was going to be Leto and I was out for the whole weekend.

I like the Google Maps satelite shots.

Here is one.
http://img273.imageshack.us/img273/982/example1lt9.jpg

In addition to the city your answer should identify at least one well know location (or landmark).

Leto 10-16-2006 10:27 AM

oh yes, that's Montreal, with Mcgill Stadium or I mean, Molson Stadium. site of a many a crushing defeat of the Redmen at the hands of the mighty Golden Gaels.

The treed slopes of Mont Royal are also visible to the left of the shot.

Sticky 10-16-2006 11:08 AM

What the &@$% is a Golden Gael.

By the way, you are right.

Daval 10-18-2006 04:20 AM

Ayers Rock, Australia

fresnelly 10-18-2006 05:06 AM

Hmmm. Probably farther north.

Somewhere in the Arctic?

Sticky 10-18-2006 05:08 AM

Is that somewhere in Alberta looking west to the Rockies?

Leto 10-18-2006 05:27 AM

It is definitely further north than Ayer's Rock, and colder. But not the Arctic. In fact this is such a famous Canadian landmark, that any clue would be a HUGE giveaway.

Bossnass 10-18-2006 06:16 AM

The Sleeping Giant, as seen from Thunder Bay.

Leto 10-18-2006 09:04 AM

Game On Bossnass! Otherwise known as Sibley Peninsula. Thunder Bay is where I was born (back when it was Port Arthur).

Bossnass 10-18-2006 05:28 PM

bah. I'm not going to be on my home computer for a while. just lost the picture I was going to post. sorry crew.

I'll either post late tonight, or think about guessing at whatever someone else posted.

Daval 10-20-2006 04:40 AM

OK, this one is going to be a little different. I think it's gonna be an easy guess, but then again it could be super hard. Where can you get this:-

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ssthesite7.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ssthesite6.jpg

Bonus points if you know what this particular burger is called.

fresnelly 10-20-2006 05:27 AM

Mmm Mm. That's the Coronary Burger Special from Dangerous Dan's Diner, at the corner of Queen E. and Broadview, in Toronto.

I had to double check the website http://www.dangerousdansdiner.com/ to make sure it wasn't their "Quadruple C", otherwise known as the "Collosal Colon Clogger Combo".

I usually get the Bronto Ribs Dinner. :D

Daval 10-20-2006 05:49 AM

Game on Fresnelly.

How are the ribs? I've only been there twice and have had the regular 8oz peameal and cheddar burger. I wanna go back though and was eyeing them ribs.

fresnelly 10-20-2006 06:43 AM

They're very fatty, and drowned in sauce, but also very tender and oh, so tasty. :)

Next up, more from space:

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/where101.jpg

Leto 10-20-2006 07:42 AM

citadel in Halifax?

Is the Dangerous Dan Diner not in Jilly's? I had no Idea how I was going to 'splain going to Jilly's for lunch to my wife. Now it looks like it's all good!

*** edit:

Maybe we can meet for a lunch???

Daval 10-20-2006 07:47 AM

Dangerous Dans is on the opposite corner of Jilly's, completely different place and safe to go to.

fresnelly 10-20-2006 04:14 PM

Game on Leto!

Lunch at Dan's? Sure thing. :)

Leto 10-20-2006 04:45 PM

sign me up for a Dan's lunch... sometime in November?

anyways (hope this doesn't get cut on a technicality:

Daval 10-20-2006 04:53 PM

That is not in Canada.

That is Boldt Castle, very nice place on the St. Lawrence. I get my passport checked there when I dive US wrecks. :)

Someone post another one, i'm not gonna be round much this weekend.

yeah yeah, that was the technicality I was hoping would be missed.... but I believe the vantage point could be in Canada...:| (maybe?)

fresnelly 10-22-2006 06:58 AM

I think that photo is of Mazinaw Rock in Bon Echo, one of my favourite Ontario Provincial parks. If you canoe along the bottom of it, you can see some native pictographs. I even did a project on it in elementary school.

I'm getting hungry. Shall I start a Lunch at DD's thread in Tilted Events?

Leto 10-22-2006 09:13 AM

Game on Fresnelly! what great guess.

And yes, that thread would be a great idea

fresnelly 10-25-2006 08:14 AM

Peace Bridge, crossing the Niagara River between Ft. Erie and Buffalo.

Woot!

Sticky 10-30-2006 12:06 PM

correct...

Daval 10-30-2006 12:55 PM

crap, i should have figured out that was a border crossing. good one guys.

i call game on leto, post a new one.

Leto 11-01-2006 02:00 PM

oky dokey

I will do so asap.

Okay, does anybody remember where/when this happened?

http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u.../ATT434428.jpg

Charlatan 11-01-2006 03:21 PM

That's in Toronto on Sheppard Avenue (Edit: Nope Finch Avenue).

I think I just read that it is finally open again.

Happened during the big storm last year.

splck 11-01-2006 08:18 PM

*sigh*

...............................

Leto 11-02-2006 06:52 AM

sorry splck, it was the only photo that I had at hand. But it was a big storm, and it did knock out Finch ave for about a year, and that storm was one of the costliest insurance disasters recorded in Canada (other than the Ice Storm and a big hail storm in Alberta).

game on Charlatan... (got something western?)

Charlatan 11-02-2006 07:16 AM

It's been a while, let me see if I remember how...
