This one I expect to be guessed within 5 minutes, it should be super easy :) |
Is that the Madison? (Madison Ave., Toronto)
|
It is indeed. Game on Aberkok
|
Ahh, I've heard of the Madison. Isn't it a UofT hangout?
|
it is indeed, right on the corner of Madison and Bloor. Right in the heart of Fraternity Row. I love the place.
|
Alrighty then...
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...Canadanext.jpg |
that would be the bloor viaduct. the suicide barrier is the easy giveaway.
In the event that I am correct, I forfeit my turn - game on to whoever wants a turn to post a pic. |
Dang it! I gotta travel more. Game on whoever!!
|
|
Lonsdale Quay in Vancouver.
Game on whoever, someone post a new one. |
|
OMG!!! it's the topside of a bridge.....
oh wait it a minute, I was too fast. It's the first topside/underside bridge picture. |
Is it too hard or is their just no action on this therad?
|
Yeah, it's probably time for a hint. :)
|
I just thought I'd give the rest of you a chance :) I have no clue where that is though.
|
The hint is: Montreal.
|
jacqes cartier bridge?
|
No, not the Jacques Cartier
|
hmm...hows about the Mercier bridge? Or Champlain bridge.
I'm trying really hard not to google it. |
Google it man, it is more fun that way.
Not the Mercier or the Champlain, but good tries for no googling. Take not of the interesting structure (or setup) of the bridge. |
yes, it does appear to turn to the right half way across.
Pont Victoria Bridge? |
Quote:
|
Victoria Bridge it is.
The bridge has one lane of one way traffice on either side with a rail line in the middle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victori...ge%2C_Montreal Game on Leto |
okey dokey.... here we go, This may be obscure for some, but give it a whirl:
http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u...Where/mill.jpg |
Watson's Mill Manitock Ontario?
|
Nope. although it is a mill in Ontario.
(off to google where the heck is Manitock...) |
methinks its time for a hint?
|
The old mill in Aberfoyle, Ontario, near Guelph?
|
nope, not Aberfoyle. Hmmm, I konw Guelph, but I'm off to google another town I never heard of...
Daval, another hint is what you want? you got it: You may be able to see this mill from the CN tower, or better yet, you probably can spot it from the top of the Drop Zone... |
Black Creek Pioneer village?
|
Game on Daval! (good one!)
That mill is a working mill, and the flour that they make is used over in the village's restaurant. This year the wheel was being repaired because of ice damage sustained over the winter. Next door to the mill is a cooper shop, where the cooper explained to me that a firkin is a barrel which holds 9 gallons. Here's a link to a site that has almost the same pic as I took: http://www.toronto.com/attractions/listing/000-100-039 |
|
white river ontario??
|
nope, not Whiteriver Ontario.
|
Hint:- This is in south-east ontario
|
Morrisburg?
|
No. Not Morrisburg
|
close at all?
|
I live in south-eastern Ontario and I have never seen that!
|
Napanee or Picton?
|
Sorry guys, I was away for the long weekend. You guys are pretty close. It is in the thousand islands area.
|
Gananoque or Rockport?
I see an American & Canadian flag in the background, so perhaps it is a border crossing like the Thousand Islands bridge... |
Landsdowne Ontario
|
Is it in Gananoque?
|
Gananonque is correct - Game on Leto!
|
whoo hoo! (after living in Kingston for years, you would think that I would have that right off... Is that fish a muskie?)
Okay, here's a good one: http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u...here/vball.jpg |
Grand Bend?
|
Nope, this is not Grand Bend.
|
East end of the beach at Ashbridges bay in Toronto!
|
Game on Fresnelly!
a wonderful beach, and on that day there was a nice enough wind, that there were some people para-sailing over the water. |
|
VW spider is from Kenora, Ontario.
Playing with the camera from my buddy's new apartment. This is in Edmonton. That could have been guessed easily enough. I'd like to know where, and in what direction. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...af9d2b7a_b.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...2a298001_b.jpg |
i see a sports stadium in the distance. is that Commonwealth Stadium?
|
I believe Leto is right.
Some Google Mapping helped me find this http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/7059/example1uy0.jpg So the top pic is you taking a picture facing north. The big street on the right is Jasper Avenue. |
Game on Sticky. Nice work.
I thought this would have taken a little longer. The panorama is centred NE, the river shot is pretty much due east. I guessed the stadium would give it away. I also would have taken "Riverside Golf", a nice public course that is municipally run. Mostly I wanted an excuse to post the picture. While it is a nice apartment, we joke that he has moved to the 'hood'. The building pretty much marks the end of Jasper Ave, then there is about a kilometer where its sketchy, then downtown proper, which is less sketchy (while on Jasper). |
who's up fellas?
|
It's Sticky's game at the moment....
|
oops, sorry. I thought it was going to be Leto and I was out for the whole weekend.
I like the Google Maps satelite shots. Here is one. http://img273.imageshack.us/img273/982/example1lt9.jpg In addition to the city your answer should identify at least one well know location (or landmark). |
oh yes, that's Montreal, with Mcgill Stadium or I mean, Molson Stadium. site of a many a crushing defeat of the Redmen at the hands of the mighty Golden Gaels.
The treed slopes of Mont Royal are also visible to the left of the shot. |
What the &@$% is a Golden Gael.
By the way, you are right. |
Quote:
hahaha!!!! you jest? what is a Golden Gael??? this: http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u...o/Where/gg.jpg & http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u...Where/gael.jpg Picture coming: http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u...o/Where/sg.jpg |
Ayers Rock, Australia
|
Hmmm. Probably farther north.
Somewhere in the Arctic? |
Is that somewhere in Alberta looking west to the Rockies?
|
It is definitely further north than Ayer's Rock, and colder. But not the Arctic. In fact this is such a famous Canadian landmark, that any clue would be a HUGE giveaway.
|
The Sleeping Giant, as seen from Thunder Bay.
|
Game On Bossnass! Otherwise known as Sibley Peninsula. Thunder Bay is where I was born (back when it was Port Arthur).
|
bah. I'm not going to be on my home computer for a while. just lost the picture I was going to post. sorry crew.
I'll either post late tonight, or think about guessing at whatever someone else posted. |
OK, this one is going to be a little different. I think it's gonna be an easy guess, but then again it could be super hard. Where can you get this:-
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ssthesite7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ssthesite6.jpg Bonus points if you know what this particular burger is called. |
Mmm Mm. That's the Coronary Burger Special from Dangerous Dan's Diner, at the corner of Queen E. and Broadview, in Toronto.
I had to double check the website http://www.dangerousdansdiner.com/ to make sure it wasn't their "Quadruple C", otherwise known as the "Collosal Colon Clogger Combo". I usually get the Bronto Ribs Dinner. :D |
Game on Fresnelly.
How are the ribs? I've only been there twice and have had the regular 8oz peameal and cheddar burger. I wanna go back though and was eyeing them ribs. |
They're very fatty, and drowned in sauce, but also very tender and oh, so tasty. :)
Next up, more from space: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/where101.jpg |
citadel in Halifax?
Is the Dangerous Dan Diner not in Jilly's? I had no Idea how I was going to 'splain going to Jilly's for lunch to my wife. Now it looks like it's all good! *** edit: Maybe we can meet for a lunch??? |
Dangerous Dans is on the opposite corner of Jilly's, completely different place and safe to go to.
|
Game on Leto!
Lunch at Dan's? Sure thing. :) |
sign me up for a Dan's lunch... sometime in November?
anyways (hope this doesn't get cut on a technicality: http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u...o/Where/bc.jpg |
That is not in Canada.
That is Boldt Castle, very nice place on the St. Lawrence. I get my passport checked there when I dive US wrecks. :) Someone post another one, i'm not gonna be round much this weekend. |
Quote:
yeah yeah, that was the technicality I was hoping would be missed.... but I believe the vantage point could be in Canada...:| (maybe?) Ok, Game on Daval, but since you aren't around hows this: http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u.../Where/maz.jpg hint: it's not on one of our coasts... |

I think that photo is of Mazinaw Rock in Bon Echo, one of my favourite Ontario Provincial parks. If you canoe along the bottom of it, you can see some native pictographs. I even did a project on it in elementary school.
I'm getting hungry. Shall I start a Lunch at DD's thread in Tilted Events? |
Game on Fresnelly! what great guess.
And yes, that thread would be a great idea |
Sorry for the delay. I was caught up in a cheeseburger daydream.
From space: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...osts/Clip2.jpg |
Canada Place, Vanouver Harbour
|
That's the one. Game on Sticky!
|
The topside of a bridge
http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/751/example1pn3.jpg |
Can we get a hint?
|
let me know if you need more:
Here is the continued view west. http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/3686/example2mh4.jpg |
confederation Bridge?
|
Peace Bridge, crossing the Niagara River between Ft. Erie and Buffalo.
Woot! |
correct...
|
crap, i should have figured out that was a border crossing. good one guys.
|
|
THAT, my friend, is along the QEW near Grimsby. Is it Grimsby Harbour or Jordan Harbour?
|
i call game on leto, post a new one.
|
oky dokey
I will do so asap. Okay, does anybody remember where/when this happened? http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/u.../ATT434428.jpg |
That's in Toronto on Sheppard Avenue (Edit: Nope Finch Avenue).
I think I just read that it is finally open again. Happened during the big storm last year. |
*sigh*
............................... |
sorry splck, it was the only photo that I had at hand. But it was a big storm, and it did knock out Finch ave for about a year, and that storm was one of the costliest insurance disasters recorded in Canada (other than the Ice Storm and a big hail storm in Alberta).
game on Charlatan... (got something western?) |
It's been a while, let me see if I remember how...
