Peachland ? on the shores of Lake Okanagan?
Close :) Wrong city
Penticton, BC.
The peach stand is in Penticton. But I'll be away from a computer for the next 12 hours or so, so whomever reads this first, feel free to post a picture.
Edit. Bah. Beat to it. nm. |
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...guesswreck.jpg
This one is a picture of me last September. Where am I, bonus points for name of shipwreck. Sorry for the brutal chop job on the pic, I had to hide some critical info |
hmmm, I think I like this pic better:suave:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/splck/peach.jpg |
Daval - is that the Niagara and is it in Thunder Bay?
Charlatan - no, but close.
The Niagara is just off Knife Island along the north shore of Superior.
This shipwreck is not the Niagara.
no guesses? |
Niagara II in Tobermory?
You got it. I was there last weekend as well. what a load of fun that wreck is!
Someone want to post for me? Still looking for a good pic of what i want to post ;)

hmmmmm..........
do we have a stumper here? |
i was going to venture the Paramount theatre complex in toronto. But it doesn't quite look like it.
I have no idea where that is...
It looks familiar to me but I can't place it.
Is that an early pic of the Yorkdale mall?
This picture is recent and its choice was inspired by a certain cup tournament on right now. :)
Copps colisseum in Hamilton?
Quote:
don't think so... I found an early image of Yorkdale: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/a14ed27c.jpg some notable items of interest about Yorkdale: In 1964 Yorkdale had achieved a number of firsts: The first dual-auditorium theatre The largest furniture store in any Canadian Shopping Centre The largest restaurant in any Canadian Shopping Centre (Encore Noshery) The first "bazaar area" with a unique grouping of kiosks The first professional offices grouping of non-retail found at: http://www.yorkdale.com/history.asp |
It's not Copp's Coliseum, but you're on the right track.
Played a hunch...
That is the Montreal Forum. It is now an AMC Cinema. Somehow I find this more palatable than making Maple Leaf Gardens into a grocery store... |
You got it.
I was there a couple of years ago. Inside, besides the stores and such, they have a corner of the boards with some of the original seats installed, as well as the scoreboard (possibly a facsimile) hanging above. It's all a bit garish, but yeah, there are worse fates. Game on! |
That's the little observatory hut at Sanson's Peak on top of Sulfur Mountain in Banff. I can't remember exactly but I think it had a bed, some boots and a hatchet in it.
Game on aberkok!
It's the church that's shaped like an igloo in Iqaluit.
Wrong...muhahaha!
Damn... tricksy hobbitses.
That is the olympic stadium in montreal
Game on Daval!
Mississauga City Hall!
bah, that was too easy. Shoulda picked something harder :P
It helped that I've worked on some outdoor events in the square out front.
Towards the upper right of the photo, you can see the amazing Greek style ampitheatre that can never be used because it doubles as a pizza oven during the summer. The whole complex is pretty odd. If you were standing on the square, you would never even know the theatre was there. Inside, there's this 4 or 5 story straight-line staircase, made of black stone that narrows as you climb to the top. You have to approach it humming Darth Vader's theme from star wars to fully appreciate it. Next up: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...osts/roof1.jpg |

Vancouver library?

Splk has answered correctly. That's the Vancouver Library, designed by Moshe Safdie. Game on! |
Casa Loma?
Hately Castle, Victoria BC
Game on Sticky.
This one maye really easy or it may be hard...I figured it would be fun though.

Rockin! That's a closeup of the Sam The Record Man neon sign on Yonge at Gould in Toronto.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...osts/TorH2.jpg |
Good eye fresnelly!
A and A records (obviously)
Yep. Right next door, though not for a long time.
Game on James T! Can anyone name the store in between Sam's and A&A om the photo below? I don't remember it. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ongeStreet.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...20posts/aa.jpg |
Peter Dunn's Vinyl Museum, at the time I believe.
... remember comparative shopping for records between Sam's and A&A's?? back and forth, looking to save $1 off an album... |
So who's turn is it?
Quote:
Looks like it is supposed to be james t kirk |
It is indeed JTK's turn.
during the meanwhile, does anybody know what the name of the mountain is in the picture attached (not for a turn, it is still JTK's ). I snapped this shot as I left Vancouver for Toronto. I t hought it was Mt Baker, but I don't think so. It is about half an hour or less into the flight. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/8ff03d2e.jpg |

hey guys, can anyone play? I should have a couple gooders for the group if that's cool.
cheers Phil |
Hey Phil... anyone can play. All you have to do is answer one of the posted pictures and then you can post a picture of your own.
We are just waiting on the winner from the last round, James T. Kirk to post the next picture. |
Hey great! Thanks for the info. I'll keep tuning in and see if I can earn the right to post one of my own. :-)
I have been remiss, thinking about other things...
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5...1579fbd061.jpg |
BCE Place. Toronto.
too easy...
yup...way too easy, although, it DOES look a little bit like the underside of a bridge....
Quote:
It was pretty easy... but it *is* one of my favourite spaces in the city...
Next! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...1/f96ea304.jpg |
Upper Canada College Gates?
Those are the gates that lead out from the Guild Inn sculpture garden to the walking trail overlooking Lake Ontario and the Scarbourough Bluffs.
Is it cheating if I was there last weekend? |
Game on Fresnelly! I thought this might be tough, but should have known better.
How do the grounds look now that the Guild is closed? Have they demolished the butt ugly tower yet? |
The whole building complex is in tact but boarded up. It makes for strange park to say the least and is telling about our regard for public space. When you pull into the parking lot, it's the first thing you see, and you'll have no idea what beauty lies behind it.
Next up: (inspired by James T's BCE Place pic) http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/ebad966a.jpg |
Is that the West Edmonton Mall?
I have heard that they are putting in a spa and mini boutique hotel. I would really like to see the main complex returned to it's splendor of old. |
That is Europa Blvd at the Mall. I played mini-golf on the bottom floor about 3 weeks ago.
You Sirs, are correct!
A pedestrian bridge
:) |
Yes... but where?
Toronto, perhaps?
Nope. Not in Toronto.
is this near Quebec City?
No. Not near Quebec City.
well, then just from the limited viewpoint. I would place it somewhere in the Canadian Shield. somewhere with the boreal forest and predominantly igneous rock such as granite.
Now what would justify a pedestrian bridge? i was thinking the Montmorency falls near Quebec City, but perhaps its in the Ottawa area? French river or Ottawa river? |
do we get a hint?
It is in the north...
I have no clue :P
Agawa Canyon ( I know, not really north)
I found it...
Miles Canyon, Whitehorse -crossing the Yukon river. |
Good work Sticky-san.
Game on! |
looks like an airport. Dorval?
