I believe that this is the "McDonald's Barge" that floated on the north side of False Creek during Expo 86. I'm not sure where it is here, buit it looks like it might be around Mission BC.

Next up, a bit of Toronto obscuria: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/IMG_4517.jpg |
Queen & Gladstone in Toronto?
|
Game on Leto!
The stone refers to the Rail bridge that Crosses Queen between Dufferin and Gladstone, rather than the ill-fated Queen underground line. The Inscription reads R.J. Fleming, Mayor E.H. Keating, City Engineer W.F. Grant & Co. Hamilton Bridge Wks Co. Contractors You'll find it in this picture sitting in the upper right at rail level. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/IMG_4518.jpg |
Cool! I originally thought perhaps the Toronto Archives, but the stonework made me re-assess the guess. I recall driving through that underpass quite often, and had to go to a map program to make sure it was on Queen...
Here's the next one: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/34cb3cb9.jpg |

Again, in railway bridge terminology, when you have road over track, the bridge will be referred to as an "Overhead" As opposed to the more common highway terminology of over pass and under pass. For example, north of Dupont, along the CPR's North Toronto subdivision, you have the Christie Street Subway, the Shaw Street Subway, the Ossington Avenue Subway, etc. etc. Bit of railway trivia for you. You can always get some screwed up looks when you refer to railway bridges and call them "subways". Though, amazingly, I have heard Joe Q. Public correctly refer to them as subways as well. And another bit of info you might find interesting, the Queen Street Subway is scheduled to be majorly reworked. They are going to eliminate "the Dufferin Street Jog" which is where one must turn right on Queen, left on Gladstone, then right on Dufferin in order to go north continuously on Dufferin. I only hope they don't wreck the stone work. It's an amazing example of fine masonry work, as is the King Street Subway to the south on the same lines. GO Transit now owns part of that bridge and a large part of it is not utilized. I believe you have the CPR Galt Subdivision (owned by GO Transit now) and the CNR Weston and Newmarket Subdivisions on there. |
Leto:
I'm pretty sure that sculpture is on the north side of Bloor St. E. between Jarvis and Yonge, infront of a big Insurance corp. tower. |
Game on Fresnelly, that would be beside the Manulife building ( I think it's manulife, of the golf green front lawn)
|
I knew those ones! ...damn.
JTK... as always, great bridge trivia. Thanks. I love the Queen Street Subway and the King Street one just south. If they do as good a job with the Queen as they did with King, it should come out OK. |
|
Hmm, i drive past that area all the time and never noticed the statues, I gotta pay attention next time.

No, it is not the skywalk at skydome.

The pedestrian bridge over Hwy.11 to get to Weber's Hamburgers near Orillia, ON.
I was going to guess either the Weber's bridge or the CN tower bridge, and then I found out it's actually both! Fom http://www.webersrestaurants.com : Quote:
