cool, now i know the name of that house, which I pass by almost daily. I'll have to visit the other one out west (college * landsdown). There's also a that cluster of tilted green cubes close by the Gardiner, or were they torn down recently?

fresnelly 04-21-2006 05:09 AM

I used to pass the college house every day and it has a small "Spaces by Rohan" sign on it, and our vet is near the Coxwell house. I wonder what the neighbours think?

Next up:

Charlatan 04-21-2006 05:24 AM

I love the house on Coxwell and like the one on College. I was reading in uTOpia: Towards a New Toronto that he is building another house somewhere in a back alley off Jones.

The house in the picture cost, $50,000 for the land and $138,000 to build. The house on College was cheaper at $17,000 for the land and only $80,000 to build. The key is finding infill plots upon which nobody wants to build (the Coxwell one is located in a ravine and the College on was a pie shaped wedge).

Since you mentioned it, there is a funky infill home in the alley west of Jones between Dundas and Gerrard. I'm not sure it's Rohan's though. I'll have to take a closer look.

Charlatan 04-21-2006 06:21 AM

You're right, it isn't his. I just checked and it was made by another company, Duckworth-Pilkington. It is a sustainable home.

Here's an article about it: http://www.cdnarchitect.com/issues/I...RType=&btac=no

fresnelly 04-21-2006 06:32 AM

Neato. No guesses on my last photo?

Leto 04-21-2006 09:24 AM

colborne lodge? (in High Park) not sure just a guess.

As for funky infill houses, I think I've seen a few, I'll snap some shots and include them in this thread if I see any...

fresnelly 04-21-2006 09:28 AM

Colborne Lodge it is. Game on!

Quote:

Colborne Lodge is the 19th century home of High Park founders, John and Jemima Howard. In 1873, the Howards deeded their 165 acre country property to the City of Toronto to be used as a public park. This deed included an agreement that the park remain 'for the free use, benefit and enjoyment of the citizens of the City of Toronto for Ever: and to be called and designated at all times hereafter "High Park"'. In 1876 and 1930, the City purchased properties to the east and west of the original Howard property, bringing the park to its current size of 399 acres.

Now a museum, the Lodge contains many original furnishings, artifacts, and some of Howard's watercolours of early Toronto. Colborne Lodge conducts a wide variety of workshops, educational programs and community events for all ages on the lives of the Howards and their legacy of High Park.

Leto 04-21-2006 10:06 AM

wow. stab in the dark, but I should have known, as I've been on the kid's field trips there on numerous occasions.

K: Here is a pic I took a few years back. Where is it/what is the feature in the background? I have edited the feature in the foreground to preserve my wife's privacy...

Leto 04-21-2006 12:28 PM

james t kirk 04-21-2006 02:59 PM

Rogers Pass?

splck 04-21-2006 06:49 PM

Hells Gate - Fraser Canyon?

Bossnass 04-21-2006 08:07 PM

I was going to say Craigellachie, but I'm pretty sure that's been done. And I was just going to say that because of the train in the valley.

So I'll guess the tunnel mountain train loop.

Charlatan 04-25-2006 04:17 AM

Some mountain around Banff?

splck 04-25-2006 09:26 AM

It's not near Banff.
It's quite noticable when you drive the coast to the interior.

In BC, of course ;)

It's not up that way. Try a little South East.

Scorps 04-26-2006 01:45 PM

Looks like all the other mountains in B.C.

TivaBella 04-26-2006 05:28 PM

I thought you said this was an easy one :hmm:

Fly 04-27-2006 04:51 AM

damn westerners............bunging up the game.

:D

Charlatan 04-27-2006 05:00 AM

flyman... I was sure you would know where this is.

Fly 04-27-2006 07:46 AM

as you know.....my google skills suck ass,and.......i've been by that place before, just can't put my finger on it.

still trying though.

i'll take a stab with........is it near Grand Forks?

Charlatan 04-27-2006 07:47 AM

It's a pretty big mountain to be putting your finger on... but go for it.

Scorps 04-27-2006 09:48 AM

Im from out West and I don't remember it, but I'm from south-west B.C.

splck 04-27-2006 10:05 AM

Crap, anyone that has driven from Vancouver to Kelowna (or anywhere in the interior for that matter) would have seen this mountain.

I guess I'll post the underside of some obscure bridge next time.

It's not a part of the slide at Hope is it?

BigBen 04-27-2006 12:39 PM

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOORIIIIIIIIIIIIING.

That picture is like me posting this:

http://www.ebibleteacher.com/images/...dtbn050701.jpg

I demand to be let back in this game;
The next guy that posts a fucking statue in Toronto or a picture of a goddamned mountain is getting a size 12 combat boot up their ass. I swear.

Oh, and no close-ups of old-assed buildings in Toronto either.

Let's face it. No pictures in Toronto.

U can't do that! C'mmon! we've been tryin hard man, lots of pics from two ends of this country & places inbetween... and from a toronto boy too. So I think we got a stake in this... (i've been holding onto a classic underside of a bridge for a while now)

c'm here with those combat boots! I'm bending over now...

Leto 04-28-2006 08:16 AM

ok splk, if it isn't a field of grain, or the Hope slide, is it the Chief? no, come to think of it, we already had that guess in an earlier pic.

splck 04-28-2006 10:14 AM

Ok, I'll take it you guys are stumped. It's Mt Yak on the Coquihalla summit of hwy 5. Next time you drive to the interior look to your left.
I'll post another one....this is easy, just like the last one.
It's sorta like the bottom of an obscure bridge...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/splck/hmmmm.jpg

here we go. I obviously did not take this picture, although the subject matter is a place where I used to attend high school. (hint, it is not Toronto)

The harbour in Burlington, ON?

Leto 05-01-2006 07:08 PM

nope

but it does start with a B....

james t kirk 05-02-2006 12:15 PM

Barrie Ontario

Leto 05-02-2006 01:42 PM

game on Tiberius! this is a view of Beautiful, Buxom Barrie's Kempenfelt Bay & Centennial Park and the Marina. My highschool was right downtown there, and that large condo in mid distance is built pretty close to the old tannery. We used to have to shut the windows in math class on really hot days because of the smell from the tannery...

james t kirk 05-03-2006 06:25 AM

Give me the name of the town the bridge is in, and the River.

And no, the CN bridge doesn't cut it.

Sticky 05-03-2006 08:16 AM

Is that the CN bridge?

Sticky 05-03-2006 08:33 AM

By the color of the water I am going to guess that the river is the Thames in London Ontario and the pictures was taken in the springtime.

james t kirk 05-03-2006 09:29 AM

Nope, not London, and it was summer time.

But you are correct about the colour of the water, that is a give away.

Sticky 05-03-2006 10:25 AM

How about Paris (Ontario)?

james t kirk 05-03-2006 10:38 AM

And the river is....

Sticky 05-03-2006 10:48 AM

Grand River

james t kirk 05-03-2006 11:11 AM

Very good.

I am amazed that that was so easy.

Sticky 05-03-2006 11:28 AM

Once I was on the water color I stayed in the relative area.
There are some realy nice pics of the river on the net taken at different times of day where you don't see the muddy water.

I was almost positive it was the thames though.

I will have the next one in a minute

Sticky 05-03-2006 11:32 AM

Sticky 05-04-2006 07:45 AM

I was actually going to post a pic of a bridge in Ontario but I held back.

Nope, quite far from Sicamous (if Sicamous is where I think it is)

fresnelly 05-06-2006 06:44 PM

I think we're going to need a bit of help on this one. :D

Scorps 05-06-2006 08:47 PM

That place looks familar but can't remember where I saw a pic or if I have been near there!

Sticky 05-08-2006 05:29 AM

Sorry I was not around for the weekend.

OK, some hints:
- East
- Those doors at water level are for easy removal of certain things
- Thoese certain things are then put in the water from those docs that dip down right to water level.
- The upper floor which is at street level can be used for parties (e.g. a wedding reception - see pic)
