ok folks.... here's the deal. sherpahigh's question will be a stumper at appx. 1:20 this afternoon. There are a few answers on the board and hopefully he will get back to the forum to let us know if they're correct. It's now 12:30. If at 1:20 he isn't back, by the rules of the thread, someone can ask a new question. If he does come back, and none of our answers are correct, he should ask a new, slightly easier question.
People.... I've said this more than once. We need to keep this thread moving along. If you have a question on the board, please check back from time to time. I understand people have to work and things come up, but once again, this is why I imposed the rules in the first place. We have 21 pages in this thread and the God of Thunder and I are pretty proud of that!

That would be the fabulous Neil Diamond!!!

Did I just call him fabulous??? Oh well.

New question:

The founder of I.R.S. records is the brother of what drummer?

and yes, this is fun. Thanks for the mention perripken, but this thread is your creation.

/stands up and applauds perripken for creating a great thread.

This is fun Thank you Perripken.

Good question G.O.T.

Now I have to make a hard one ............

Ok who got thier start as Bette Midler's pianist and by writing commercial jingles such as "I drink Dr. Pepper don't you know....."

This might be too easy

Sorry all for the late reply. I had to go out of town and expected that the hotel I'd be staying at would have an internet connection. No luck there so I was stuck, unable to check back.

Anyway, perripken's answer of Jimmi Hendrix was the right one. Good guess.

After calling Neil Diamond "fabulous" I think it would be in my best interest to not answer a question about Bette Midler

I know the answer because my sister was a huuuuge fan of his, that is until Duran Duran came along. I swear you could play his live album and I would still know all the words. (You know, the ones that make the young girls cry. D'oh, I just gave a hint)

Great question though.

Hey, Barry is the guy who makes the whole world sing, we all like his stuff, we just don't like to admit it.

Here is one that may be hard, I just get a kick out the guy's name.

What artist kept The Beatles' Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever from number?

Ok sorry it took so long...........

Before forming Led Zeppelin Jimmy Page approached 2 members of another band to form a band.........

One of those men said "That would go over like a lead balloon." (hence the name Led Zeppellin).

who were the two band members and what band were they from?

I know that Keith Moon from The Who was the one to coin the "lead ballon" phrase, so I'm gonna say Moon and Entwistle.

Yes IT WAS Moon and Entwistle. Damn You GOT thought I had a good stumper.

According to the rumor, Page met Moon and Entwistle at a bar and heard how disheartened they were with the Who and the fighting between Pete and Roger. Page then suggested they form a band and that it would be the greatest band on Earth.

Moon then said it'd go gover like a Lead Balloon. Page liked the name but changed Lead to Led because "those idiots in the US will probably say it like Leed."

Anyway, true or not it's a great story that's been around.

You're Up Mr. GOT

It's damned near impossiblre to have stumper while perripken and me are around. [evil laugh]muah ha ha ha [/evil laugh]

Actually, I read Page's book "Hammer of the Gods" and I remember the story with Moon. I guessed on Entwistle.

So. I'm up eh?

I could go KISS again, but no.

Let's see....

What band is famous for never having a number one song. Their biggest hits only made it to number two.

Who were they, and what was the main reason they never made it to number one?

Nope. I'm not sure if they had a number one hit or not. That's not the one I was thinking of though.

I just checked and "Touch of Grey" went number one for the Dead.
