Thanks for that , Sion. I downloaded it.

As for the question at hand, I had to turn to the person I feel knows almost as much about the Beatles as warrrreagl, my wife.

First she wants more clarification as to what you mean by "major album". I felt that it meant any album that wasn't a compilation, such as 1. Including that would void the question, since it contained all of their #1 hits.

Based on that, she picked "The Ballad of John and Yoko" and "All You Need is Love" despite the fact the second one was on Yellow Submarine.

and those two are great choices.

Paperback Writer would have also been acceptable.

and yes, any album that was not a compilation (and Yellow Submarine was not really an album so much as a soundtrack) is what i meant by a "major album." Sorry about that.

Your go, GoT

Well, you got both of us. We both swore that "Paperback Writer" was on Revolver, but were wrong.

The Goddess of Thunder now wishes to ask this question:

Saturday Night Live star Maya Rudolph has a famous singer for a mom.

Who is she?

Bonus points if you can name her famous hit.

As far as I know it was the Mothers of Invention, but I'm not sure if he was in a band before that.

and give us another question.

The Ramblers - 1955/56 - Frank Zappa drums, it was an R&B band.

Now for a 2 part question(2 parts cause these are really good...I think the second one is easy too)

1) what was Black Sabbath's original name? (hint: its not what you think it is)

2) What album title was changed for America? (hint: the album art was not changed)

They were originally called Polka Tulk (The Polka Tulk Blues Company in full), when they were a Jazz-Blues band, and later they renamed themselves Earth.

The album Paranoid was originally going to be entitled "War Pigs," but was changed due to the Vietnam War.

I knew about Polka Tulk for a while... I'm a big Sabbath fan myself.

next question (a similarly simple Sabbath question):

Something happened to Tony Iommi that impaired his ability to play the guitar but he was inspired to keep playing by the story of another famous guitar player.

Tell me what happened to Tony, and who he got his inspiration from.

Tony lost a finger, but I'm not sure who inspired him to continue

Since GOT's answer is apparently right (I think I now remember hearing he'd lost his finger at some point, but didn't recall that until the answer was given), I'm guessing his inspiration might've been Jerry Garcia. He lost the middle finger on his right hand when he was four when his older brother chopped it off with an axe while they were splitting wood.

close, but the Dead werent really at the height of their popularity until after this incident. This was when Tony was a teenager, well before Sabbath started for real.

HINT: The finger thing is correct, Tony lost part of his in a shop accident. The guitarist who inspired him was a blues guitarist from the early 20th century, and the guitarist in question was badly burned.

Given the clues, I still have no idea.

Like I said earlier, the only part I knew was that Tony had lost a finger (or at least part of it).

Rideough, when you threw your hint in, this was already a stumper. We need a new question and an answer to this one.

pretty good for a guess.

Next question...probably easy enough.

Sheryl Crow's current hit "The First Cut is the Deepest" was originally written by what artist?
