Well, another guess, but you have stumped the panel so the next question is yours again. I'm gonna try one more....
The Yardbirds

Alright. The mystery act is Roy Harper. There's a link to the bootleg here if anyone's interested: http://www.zetosa.com.pl/piotrus/boots/rh.htm

I'll think up an easier one now...

How about what late 80's "supergroup" put out two albums that contained songs like: "Heading For The Light" and "Poor House" amoung many others.

bonus if you can name all 5 members.

if im right they performed as the new yardbirds because jimmy page was left with a few shows left to play and he got john, robert and john to play with him before they changed their name to led zeppelin.

also, do i get to ask a question?

The question asked states to state the 2 names, high_way. I knew about the Yardbirds too, but didn't know the second name...

The New Yardbirds and Band of Joy (Bonham's pre-Zep band) ?? I'm at a total loss and I want to know...

Could be The Honeydrippers with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page too...

here's a hint....

In '73 they were forced to use another name for a few gigs in Scandanavia as the Von Zeppelin family was unhappy with the use of their name.

Actually, highway should have been the next one to ask a question, but it looks like he's ok with rideough asking.
Highway you are a good sport!
Sidenote: Does anyone know what Jeff Lynn is up to these days?
I always thought he was such a talent with ELO. Last I knew he was producing. Think I'll have to search.....

Ahhhh, I know this. I just read it the other day. I think it was some "The" name.

Is it The Nobs or Nebs? Something like that I think.

If this isn't the answer, I think its time to move on with another question by high_way this time.

For added flavor, I'm going in a new direction.

This guitarist's day job was for the Virginia Electric Power Company. Then just prior to his climb to success, joined Emmylou Harris and her band known as "Hot Band".

I don't know what he did during the day, but I know that Albert Lee was a guitar player for Hot Band for a while.

The answer is Ricky Skaggs. Good attempt though. It was kind of a hard question.

Perripken, I'll give it to you. Your question ... I feel like taking a break from the TFP for a couple of days. That Baltimore Orioles guy got me really cheesed off.

Hey tritium, don't let it get to you. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to play with keyboards! Anyways.... here goes...
In 1983 Styx was forced to cancel their tour. Why?

If I recall properly, it was one of two things. Let me take my first guess, and if that doesn't work, I have another.

One of the Panazzo brothers (Chuck, I think) died, leaving their rhythm section, shall we say, a bit light.

No,sorry Tophat, John died from a gastrointestinal hemmorage in 1996 which was a result of severe alcholism, and was replaced by Todd Sucherman. Chuck, his twin brother, is currently fighting aids and only makes occasional guest appearances.

OK, off by one brother and a couple of years. OK, my other guess is that Dennis DeYoung got very ill: something about light sensitivity, IIRC.

Nope, you're correct about Dennis'es illness, but that came much later. As a matter of fact, that's why he is no longer with the band and Lawrence Gowan has taken his place.

I thought it was because Tommy Shaw left the band?? That was right around the time of "Kilroy Was Here" and he hated it.

Actually most people did. Especially Rush fans. We liked the whole storyline the first time, when it was called "2112".

You're correct about that being the year of Kilroy, but it was because Tommy broke his wrist. He actually didn't leave until after the Paradise Theatre album. I guess I stumped the panel, however, I would like someone else to ask a new question.

Can someone ask a question that someone under the age of 40 could answer? This has been like 28 questions in a row about bands from the 70's!

I'm back and I hear that. I can't stand the stuff on the radio anymore...

New Wave and Synthpop forever! lol.

Born: May 2, 1981 ... can ya tell?

Try this question one out:

The bass track and beat pattern for Will Smith's "Fresh Prince of Bel Aire" was taken from another of Will's early hits. Can you name which one?

Bah... You're not old. Still under 40 and I dont consider 40 old either. It's becoming clear to me know that I've got to start thinking of these ages as young, cause I'm gonna be there faster than I'd like.

by the way, I turned 5, 4 days before you turned 12 and 5 days before tritium was born.

As for the question, I believe that tophat is right is he not? A sad thing to note for me is that I used to know every word to both of those songs.
