To answer Chinagal0's question, it is Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan.

That makes two questions active though, so I will allow high_way's question about Grinspoon to be active.

It looks like OFKOU has answered, but we need confirmation if it is correct before we get the next question.

Sorry chinagal0, the rules imposed by perripken set a time limit on questions and answers.

You were OK to ask the question high_way based on the time limits.

And since OFKOU's answer is correct. I'll let him ask the next one.

If he doesn't come up with one. I will for answering chinagal0's question.

Ok. After Led Zeppelin I, the band briefly thought of replacing Robert Plant as vocalist. Who was the frontrunner to replace Plant?

My guess is Eric Clapton because of the Yardbirds connection.

I think you mean David Coverdale.

I don't know if that's the right answer, but that's who you mean.

The man in question is English singer Steve Marriot. Others considered were Steve Winwood and Tim Rose whom either couldn't do it or wouldn't do it. Plant stayed on after Jimmy heard 'Thank You'. Marriot died in a house fire a few years ago.

Here's a bonus. When Page checked into hotels he often registered under the alias James MacGregor.

Ok,.. Someone else take a turn asking.

The first one I know about was "The Bob Seger System"
Were there any before that?
......Man....I wish he'd tour again, I never saw him.

I've seen him four times

But enough teasing.

Yes The Bob Seger System was his first band.

I have cousins old enough to have seen him tour with The System along with the Amboy Dukes in this area.

Yes!!

If I had only been born about ten years earlier, I could have went with him.

He tells me all the time how cool it was to see some of those guys come through here during the heydays.

KISS, Ted, Bob, Grand Funk and even Alice Cooper all used to play the Flint area bars all the time.

Interesting that this thread came to this.... I'm a little older than you obviously, but, Alice Cooper was my first concert... 12 years old I was! New Years eve in Buffalo, New York. I'll have a new question in a few minutes. Gotta think....

The Marshall Tucker Band enjoyed much success from the mid 70's to early 80's. Two of the founding members(brothers) have passed away. Bass player Tommy Caldwell was killed in a dirt bike accident on his farm (although I've heard conflicting reports of a jeep accident) His brother Toy Caldwell, the awesome guitar player, who wrote and sang "Can't you see" succumbed to heart disease in the early 90's. There is one original member left. Can anyone name him?

My guess is the obvious, Marshall Tucker.

Actually...I don't think there actually was a Marshall Tucker...kinda like there was (EDIT:wasn't ) a Lynyrd Skynyrd in the band.

To answer the question...I believe you're talking about the singer: Doug Gray. However, there was another guitarist besides Toy...George something. There was also the drummer...I don't know his name. Poor drummers...always forgotten by everyone...except the ladies.

George McGorkle is the other guitar player, but sadly, the only original member who wanted to keep the band going after Tommy and Toy died was indeed Doug Gray. Tommy was kinda the leader and Toy did the majority of the songwriting. Doug was definately the voice, though. Good answer 123123, your turn.

OK...this one's way out of my realm. You could find the answer within seconds on the web...but my mind's filled with useless information & I'm curious how many of you are like me...so no cheating.

English ballad singer Engelbert Humperdinck was born with a different name...and he wasn't born in Jolly Olde England. What was his name at birth...and where was he born?

Heh, he was born in India. I wouldn't know his real name or birth if it weren't for Eddie Izzard. Although Izzard actually gets the real name wrong, and changes the birth place for humor effect. Just thought I'd post so I can suggest Eddie Izzard again! Watch him and laugh!

So.....now what happens?................ We have two people who answered one part of the question.........hmmmmmmm.....I think this one is classified as a stumper, so 123123 should ask another question.

ok...another one....

Layla was a big hit song for Derek & the Dominos. Eric Clapton wrote the main part of the song...but the long piano postlude was written by a session drummer for the band that was also a very talented pianist named Jim Gordon.

What else was Jim Gordon famous for?

ok...Jim Gordon is famous not only for co-writing Layla, but also for killing his mother.

He was a paranoid schitzophrenic(sp?) and he heard "voices". One day, the voice told him that his mother was possessed by the Devil & that he needed to kill her. So he took a claw hammer & did just that.

As of earlier this year...he was still alive & in prison. Probably quite wealthy for a prisoner aswell with all the royalties...go figure.

I can't think of another question right now...so if anyone's got one, I'll yield the floor at this time.
