Well it looks like Perripken and Derwood both know the answer, but I need to see it posted before I declare a winner, unless someone else beats them to it.

My last hint:

This is Jean Beauvoir

Ok, let's move this thing along, looks like no new blood is jumping in. The Plasmatics was the band G.O.T. was looking for. Wendy O. Williams, the lead singer just happened to be from my hometown.
I'm going to throw out a toughie since I have not had a stumper and I'm the originator of this thread. Let's see how good you guys are, and no cheating!
It would be easy to ask what band Peter Frampton came from before he went solo, but, what band was he in when before that band and what famous member of a REAL famous band produced and managed that band?

Wow a toughie indeed.

Humble Pie was the band he was in before going solo, but I don't know the band before that.

I'm guessing that it wasn't Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band

the wording of that question is confusing. Besides which, I know nearly nothing about Frampton

Let me see if I can reword it now that thunder has answered Humble Pie as the band that Frampton was in before he went solo.
Frampton was in a band before Humble Pie that was managed and produced by a member of a FAMOUS band. Name the band that Frampton was in, and name the manager/producer. I will give you a hint when I get back from work tonight.

Ok, here's a hint for the manager.
He is the bass player in probably arguably the greatest Rock n Roll band ever ( I'm basing that on their longevity).

My guess on the bass player was going to be Paul McCartney, but I'm thinking you mean Bill Wyman.

I still don't know who the band is.

Ok, I guess I officially have a stumper. Sorry it took so long to post the answer, but my furnace is acting up and it's getting cold here in Western NY. Thunder, you are correct on Bill Wyman. He produced and managed a band called The Preachers and Peter Frampton was the vocalist/guitarist. They cut an album, but it didn't make it out of the UK.
Ok- easier one:
Bad Company's original guitar player Mick Ralph's came from what band?

I can argue with you about that, but that would clog up this thread like my arteries after a cheesgburger.

So, back to the trivia.

Who has the greatest selling debut album of all time?

Not so fast, it's not who you think it is.

tee hee

EDIT:After double-checking some facts, it probably is who you think it is. The facts I had were a little misleading. I'll explain after the answer has been given.

I did say arguably!

I'm not sure on this one but is it Guns N Roses, "Appetite for Destruction"?

Yup.

Now to clarify all of the confusion.

To date, Boston's first album has sold over 16 million units, but orginally sold about 2 million of those the opening month.

THAT RECORD was shattered by Whitney Houston, who sold a little over 3 million.

Miss Diva's first release has, to date, only sold about 12 million. That makes it the greatest selling debut album by a FEMALE artist.

I misread the intial report and thought I had a stumper, figuring someone would say Boston and be wrong. Turns out I was and stupmed myself.

"D'oh!!!"

So to clarify, Boston has the greatest selling debut album of all time with 16 million.

Perripken, save this thread and ask a good question. I messed up.

Here's a question, former frontman for Rainbow, Joe Lynn Turner's original band was named....

Question is hard because it is one of several that have been asked based on 70's music. I was born in 1975, so there is a lot of music from that decade I'm not familiar enough with to answer trivia questions about it.

Why it's 'Start Me Up' by The Rolling Stones!

Now for a newer question:

Rush had one unreleased song that was scrapped and reused in another song, 'Different Strings'. Do you know the name of the unreleased track?

ok ok. Here we go and I'll do an easier one:

On the song "Heavy Metal Poisoning' by Styx, are two backwards messages. They're located at the begining and in the middle.

1a. What is the first part referencing?
1b. (bonus) what is the second backward message? and what are they refering to?

good luck.

Disregard the msg I sent you.

I think what you mean by 'referencing' is how it has plays the Latin motto that is located around the pyramid on a dollar bill. The motto is something like...'Annuit cceptis. Novus ordo seclorum'. Unfortunately I don't know the bonus question. I'm sorry!

Okay, as for my question...It's an easy one and I hope it wasn't used allready!

What's the last name of the only member of ZZ Top who doesn't have a beard?

That's right. As for the second part, he's saying, ' Sparky holds the Secret' and is refering to a cartoon caracter from the 50s. They put the backward messages on there to poke fun at the (false) accusations about them putting backward satanic messages in their music. They even went as far to put a label on their Killroy was Here album stating that it had backward messages on it...

I think you're referring to Phil Keaggy.

The urban legend is that he was asked on the Tonight Show what is was like to be the greatest rock guitarist in the world and his answer was. "I don't know. Why don't you ask Phil Keaggy?"

But Snopes lists it as a false statement.

Not Phil Keaggy, although what an incredible player. A one-man symphony with six strings. I should back off and suggest I have no proof of this. Only the word of Vernon Reid, though he was allowed to say it on national television without being corrected.

Sorry about the delay, just got back to the computer. Good ole hectic week. The question was inspired by the prior question concerning ZZ Top.

Believe it or not, according to Vernon Reid, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top was Hendrix's favorite guitar player. Crazy stuff, I've never been able to find another source on it and would LOVE to get some furthur proof. But national TV tends to bring out disproof, which has never happened.

Ok, an easy EASY one:

Who wrote the song "Justify my Love" performed and recorded by Madonna?
