ok, so heres the next question...

something a little different... since Pavarotti has been in the headlines recently over his retirement... here's an Opera question.

in which Puccini opera did Pavarotti make his debut? which year? and which role?

Looks like a stumper bundy.

Doesn't look like there's a lot of opera fans in here, unless it's Bohemian Rhapsody.

Go again.

Kick start time again.

Boston guitarist Tom Scholz once worked as the "Senior Product Design Engineer" for what technology company, actually helping develop one of their better known products?

I cant remember the name of the company, but I believe the name of the product was the Rockman, a small, portable guitar amplifier that allows a player to practice anywhere.

Scholz is also a graduate of the prestigious MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

was the company Sony?

Scholz is a graduate of MIT and did invent the Rockman, but that was with his own company "Scholz Research & Development".

The company I'm looking for was pre-boston. He hired in to this major corporation right out of college.

He did work for Polaroid, the product he helped develop was the "Instamatic".

By the way, since the Rockman was mentioned, I looked them up on e-bay and I have a couple bids on them right now.

Yay me!!

You're up perripken

ok,
Seeing how Heart is coming out with a new album and touring and I've always had a thing for Nancy Wilson, can you tell me what famous filmmaker she is married to?

New question: Bonnie Raitt was married to an actor from '91 to 2000 who is best remembered (by myself, at least) for a role in one of the great comedies of all time which came out in 1980. What movie was it and what was his character's name? (Bonus points for his actual name).

He got an Oscar nomination for a role in '79 in a pretty decent movie (which was adapted from a great book), but is better known for the movie from '80.

She was married to Michael O'Keefe who played Danny Noonan in Caddyshack. He also played Roseanne's brother-in-law in her sitcom.

Alright this one just came up with some friends tonight.

What album (name the specific song if you can) was Tipper Gore's daughters listening to that outraged her so much that she forced the parental advisory stickers.

Nope.

Remember folks this was Al & Tipper Gore's teenage daughters.

It was also the early 80s. 1984 to be exact.

Good guess, you're on the right track.

It's not Cindi Lauper, but her hit "She Bop" might give a hint.

I'll check back in the morning.

I think it was Prince's Purple Rain and the song was Darling Nikki (and its lines about masturbating with a magazine). My sister had that tape and I remember permanently ruining it by pulling out the tape and twisting it and managing to play it backwards to hear the backwards message at the end of that song.

I could've sworn that the Dead Kennedys album with the cover that H.R. Geiger did with the field of penises had something to do with it too (like Tipper's daughter bringing it home). Maybe that was a different person's daughter.

Just checked to see if I was right about Darling Nikki and I was, so I'll think up another question.

The PMRC was already formed, apparently, when they came after the Dead Kennedys for their Frankenchrist album. H.R. Giger (the guy who designed the alien in Alien who also did a bunch of memorable album covers) had a work of art called 'Landscape #20, also called 'Penis Landscape', which was included as an album insert and pissed someone off and criminal charges for distrubution of harmful matter to minors were brought against the Kennedys in a trial where Jello Biafra argued that they were trying to violate First Amendment rights. I remember digging up the picture on a Google search a while back. I'll see if I can find it again.

27 has often been pointed out as an age that a few successful musicians had in common when they died. Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, and Cobain are the ones that are probably the most easy to recall, but there are at least two others that stand out as well. One, a keyboardist for a successful band, died in 3/8/73 of liver failure (he also was nailing Joplin for a while). The other was a rhythm and slide guitarist (and played other various instruments and sometimes provided backup vocals) for another successful group before leaving them a month before he drowned on 7/3/69. Who were the two guys?

Good job Booray.

We were just talking about Prince when my friend's wife said that if any album need the warning sticker, it was that one. My answer was "Funny you should say that."

Which lead me to my question.

I know the second one because I am a great fan of his and believe the band was never the same (SELLOUTS). His is a very interesting story and very sad. Won't answer because I haven't a clue as to the first one.

Sorry, Just happen to admire the man immensely and had to include my rant.

Pigpen is right, but Lowell George isn't correct for the second one (he died of a heart attack when he was 34). I guess pan6467 might know the second one. If he or someone else posts it, y'all can decide who asks the next question.

Her favorite "bands" are O-Town, Clay Aiken and Barry Manilow.

Any questions?

Just one....has she come to realize yet that, contrary to the opinions of mothers of the 70s that cracked in half any and all Kiss and Alice Cooper records they came across, that type of music is the true devil's music? I imagine if hell really exists, they'll be rotating selections of those bands over the loudspeakers with a little bit of Bay City Rollers thrown in for good measure.

Perripken you got it bro.

Brian Jones was the MAN. If you read the stories of what Mick and Keith did to him you could see how tortured he was. I know after I read some of them I could never think of the Stones the same. Brian Jones named the Stones, he was the one who started the Stones, and so on.

Sad story his life. Extremely talented.
