Natural Stone Bridge and Caves Park?
nope. I am not at a park or natural feature. It's a man-made thing and you might think of it as a source of life.
fishes eddy?
do you mean flo and eddie? either case, no
it's a big long thing that involves water |
trying to narrow it down...
are you on lawn guyland? |
nope. If this thing I'm in was not here, a lot of people would be very thirsty. Unless they drank beer instead of water.
Croton Aqueduct?
cannonsville reservoir?
There are reservoirs and aqueducts involved so you guys are hot! Why not jump in and cool off.
In fact, the name of where I am is an aqueduct but not Croton. The one I'm at is superlative. |
catskill aqueduct?
nope. Remember when you asked if I was in New Jersey? new jersey could be the answer for the aqueduct I'm at. Which happens to be a most superlative aqueduct.
i'm stumped...
And my last (long shot) guess is... Ashokan Reservoir.
After that I'm tapping out as well. |
Schoharie Reservoir, next to the Shandaken Tunnel
you guys are so close...not to mention I can't believe you aren't guessing it with all the wonderful, fantastic, best clues I've given!
e.g.: what did Dela wear? She wore a New Jersey. One more shot guys:...... |
Are you at the Delaware Aqueduct, also the worlds Longest Underground tunnel?
Aqueduct Race Track?
Sorry, Liv. That's not the one. Though the "Aqueduct" part is correct so you get partial credit and a gold star on your forehead :)
Thanks, amonkie. For a minute there I was losing my hope for huMANity when you stepped in to save the day. Yes I am at the Delaware Aqueduct, the longest aqueduct in the world. And as you so astutely pointed out, it is also the longest underground tunnel in the world at 85 miles long (137 km) and 13.5 ft. wide (4.11 meters). The Delaware Aqueduct carries approximately half of the New York City water supply of 1.3 billion US gallons per day. This is sort of a strange, funny fact: the Delaware Aqueduct leaks up to 35 million gallons per day. But probably not so funny if the leaking is causing flooding of your home! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/12/ny...eaky.html?_r=1 Maybe they should see if BP can help them plug up those leaks. Delaware Aqueduct - this is the obligatory Wikipedia link ...hey, with the huge leaks, this one should be in Wikileaks!!! Tully, TFP's most famous diver, might be able to help with this problem plus when he talks he'll sound even more like the chipmunks than usual Drying Out After a Month on Helium - Tully Mars please come help and make big bucks http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...I/image004.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...map_DP4506.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...reaqueduct.jpg A shaft of the Rondout-West Branch Tunnel, part of the Delaware Aqueduct in Ulster County, N.Y., during rock-clearing work in 1942. |
nick, no offense, buddy but is the originating point of the delaware aquaduct in new york?
Sweet!
I gotta go find a place to hide, be back in a bit. |

Here are some facts that seem to be corroborated in multiple sources I found: "The Delaware Aqueduct takes water from the Rondout Reservoir through the Chelsea Pump Station, the West Branch Reservoir, and the Kensico Reservoir, ending at the Hillview Reservoir in Yonkers, New York." And a bit more on the location of the Rondout Reservoir: "Rondout Reservoir is part of New York City's water supply network. It is located 75 miles (120 km) northwest of the city in the Catskill Mountains, near the southern end of Catskill Park, split between the towns of Wawarsing in Ulster County and Neversink in Sullivan County. It is the central collection point for the city's Delaware System, which provides half its daily consumption." |
I looked at the Delaware one but clues like-

No matter, nice work Monkie. I'll be gone for a few days of diving. And no Nick I'm not spending days in a chamber so I can I dive to 700ft. But I might change my mind if someone waved that pay check in my face. I'd bet those guy make in a month what I make in a year or two. I shy away from anything close to "tech" diving. It's kind of becoming the in thing to do. More gear, mixed gases, more risks and the pay off is I went to 250ft! Woot! yeah not for me. Other then a few sharks and a couple other fish I see plenty at 80-140 ft. |
Sharks! Oh my!
Ok..... where am I? |

Nick, that I am. And I feel like I am standing in a pot of sand.
north of I-64?
Since you seem to be such a geological girl, I'll guess you're at the summit of Warm Springs Ridge in Morgan County, an area famous for some of the finest sandstone quarried in the U.S. since the mid 1800's.
Phil - north of I 64
Nick ... you're warm but not. If that's where you are... I'm taller than you! Actually I'd be taller than anybody from here. |
Spruce Knob in the Monongahela National Forest.
I was also thinking of knobs, but then I found this place very close to Spruce Knob:
So perhaps it's coincidence or maybe monkey business, but I think amonkie might be in Monkeytown, WV. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...nkeytownwv.jpg |
Cali got it right at Spruce Knob, the highest Point in West Virginia!
Your turn chicky :) |
Ooh... okay, go for it. =)

are you in a body of water?
if you're on an island, we've covered all the continents, except for maybe a little spit of land in the soviet union...
or maybe on that huge chunk of iceberg that recently broke off - I think from a Greenland icesheet, and is heading straight for the Titanic!
phil, all the continents have not been covered. and since y'all are having such a hard time, yes, i'm on an island.
I'm stumped since I thought we listed all the continents of the Northern Hemisphere. So I think any island would have to be part of one of the continents.
How about a little clue, Liv? |
Y'all listed some countries, but not all the continents.
Are you in Kiribati?
Kiribati is the only country in the world to be located in both hemispheres and lying on both sides of the 180th meridian. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ti_map_LOC.jpg |
nope... y'all are still missing a continent.
I don't think any part of Asia is in the Northern & Western Hemispheres, is it?
Only thing I can think of is Oceania?
Naukan, Siberia?
Greenland
hi Zook, long time no see. How's ya doin'?
I have no input, awaiting Livie's replies. |
Hey, BN, yeah I know Greenlands the wrong spot... just throwing a red herring. hehehe
Watching a doco on Belle De Jour on the TV at the moment... Diary of a Call Girl... Sexy! |
In 1967 when the flick Belle de Jour came out, I was 18 years old and totally in love with Catherine Deneuve. Apparently she didn't realize it and where it not for my 1967 E-Type taking some of the pain out of my heart, I'd probably have killed myself back then.
I know Cali Chick in not in France unless she changes her mind. |
okay, here's your hint... what continent are Canadia and Sofa in, since y'all guessed those COUNTRIES....
North America.. So Mexico?
North America, yes. Mexico, no. Too far west.
are you on an island in the Carribean?
yes
damn, sometimes the obvous is so ...obvious. Not to detract from amonkie's super great guess :)
are you west of Puerto Rico? yo ho ho and a bottle of rum |
nope
Are you on Montserrat?
(I'm mainly guessing that since my daughter went the M. College of Art near Boston...now she lives a couple inches above Liv in Olympia, WA) |
nope, too south
St Martins... what a cool airport...
