jefferson university hospital?
|
nope. This place has to do with the writing of the D.of I.
|
"The Signer" Statue
|
nope, not at a statue. But "The Signer" is about 2 blocks away from the house I am in.
A house that is related to the writing of the D. of I. |
I didn't think it was the statue, but I was hoping for another clue... remember that I'm not a local, so if I get it right, I want a green card........
City Tavern..... |
Zook, you don't need no stinkin' green card! Just come and call me when you get to the airport and I'll pick you up.
City Tavern is a good guess, and actually it is part of the story related to the house I am in, and the guy who was in that house writing the D. of I. and he got his meals sent in from the City Tavern. |

and it is. Good sleuthiness, Zook. Especially for someone not from this neighborhood. You're up!
The Declaration House (Graff House) http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...raff_house.jpg The Graff House, aka The Declaration House, is Jacob Graff's house where Thomas Jefferson spent the better part of three weeks writing his original Declaration of Independence. The Graff family was living there while he did that so I wonder if they talked about it and if they gave him any ideas? Even though now it's hard to imagine the corner of 7th & Market Sts. not being in the heart of the city, back then it was on the outskirts of old Philadelphia. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...I/clips424.jpg Fun Facts - The house was once owned by Hyman and Simon Gratz. Their sister, Rebecca, is said to be the inspiration for Walter Scott's "Ivanhoe" and Thackeray's "Rebecca." - Jefferson complained about the houseflies from the stable across the street while writing the Declaration of Independence. - Jefferson had an account at the City Tavern while writing the Declaration. - The site became among other things a print shop and a Tom Thumb diner. - The Independence Hall Association (owners of ushistory.org) led the efforts to have the Declaration House rebuilt in 1975 for the Bicentennial. |

Hey, what the heck?
I posted a reply a couple days ago, and have been waiting for Nick to go and hide???? Sorry, all. Yes Nick was correct again. Nick, did you catch on to the "cryptic" clue I mentioned, or was it the "exploded" hint? (Cryptic being a castle) Sorry, once again...... . |
Zook, sometimes we need the obvious sledge hammer on the head. Thanks. But until you said a building that exploded in June 1845, I was only wild guessing where you might be.
OK, folks, where in the world am I? clue: I'm at another one of my favorites, a superlative natural feature (not big tits this time though the Grand Tetons are gorgeous) |

Mount Thor - BadNick's hideout http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...Mount_Thor.jpg Mt. Thor, this one since there appears to be at least one other out in Western Canada, features the Earth's greatest purely vertical drop at 4,101 ft (1,250 m), with an average angle of 105 degrees. The location is popular with climbers due to this feature, despite its remoteness. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...1997-08-07.jpg You're up, unc.
