Water storage tank, or tower, perhaps?

raging moderate 07-22-2010 07:15 PM

a pool?

uncle phil 07-23-2010 02:22 AM

not underground, not a storage tank or tower, and not a pool...

Tully Mars 07-23-2010 02:33 AM

A canal?

uncle phil 07-23-2010 02:50 AM

not a canal, but the type of "body" of water i am in begins with a "c..."

Tully Mars 07-23-2010 02:50 AM

Creek?

uncle phil 07-23-2010 03:11 AM

i am a creek...

BadNick 07-23-2010 06:34 AM

Being a Philly Phanatic, I have to ask: are you in Silver Creek, NY?

Silver Creek's most famous resident is Howard "Bob" Ehmke. He was the pitching hero of the 1929 World Series. While playing for the Philadelphia Athletics, Ehmke struck out 13 Chicago Cubs in Game 1, a World Series record until 1953.

uncle phil 07-23-2010 06:36 AM

not in silver creek, but i am a creek, north of there...

BadNick 07-23-2010 10:22 AM

Are you in Bergholtz Creek, the northern boundary of the Love Canal neighborhood in Niagara Falls, NY? If you are, we love you anyway, unc. Even if you glow in the dark and have two heads.

uncle phil 07-23-2010 10:38 AM

i am east of bergholtz creek...

BadNick 07-23-2010 11:40 AM

are you at Tonawanda Creek? I was just following that creek on a map and talk about long and winding creek!!!

uncle phil 07-23-2010 05:10 PM

east of tonawanda creek...

BadNick 07-23-2010 06:35 PM

how about Maxwell Creek? Maxwell Creek Inn Area Attractions

uncle phil 07-24-2010 02:25 AM

too far east...

Tully Mars 07-24-2010 03:15 AM

Are you down on Cripple Creek?

uncle phil 07-24-2010 04:37 PM

nope, but the ultimate "cripple" happened here, hence the name of the creek...

BadNick 07-24-2010 07:30 PM

sounds like that might be Dead Creek? If so, any particular reason to be there?

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...eadcreekny.jpg

uncle phil 07-25-2010 04:51 AM

no, no, no, no, no, we've already established that i'm west of maxwell creek, which is up near sodus as i recall......

dead creek is a great guess, though...

BadNick 07-25-2010 03:30 PM

are you within 20 miles of Rochester?

uncle phil 07-25-2010 04:07 PM

i am definitely more than 20 miles west of rochester...

BadNick 07-25-2010 05:02 PM

are you at Oak Orchard Creek? ...just reading about it and looking at a few pics it seems like interesting geology related to the Niagara Escarpment

uncle phil 07-26-2010 02:36 AM

just a few miles west of oak orchard creek...

BadNick 07-26-2010 12:52 PM

are you at Johnson's Creek?

In that area all I found was that some early settlers moved from Yates Center (north of Lyndonville) to take advantage of water power provided by Johnson's Creek. If that's not it, I'll give it more thought later as I play with my Johnson.

uncle phil 07-26-2010 01:01 PM

way too far east...

hint - i'm in erie county, very close to niagara county - in fact, part of me runs through niagara county...

Tully Mars 07-26-2010 02:06 PM

I just can not find a decent maps with creeks of the area.

Is there a "Jump Off" creek there?

uncle phil 07-26-2010 03:24 PM

possibly, if it resulted in someone's death, but that's not the place...

Tully Mars 07-26-2010 03:47 PM

Tonawanda Creek?

uncle phil 07-26-2010 04:07 PM

east of tonawanda wanda creek...

but, aunt phil said it brought up some memories...

http://www.forgottenbuffalo.com/forg...ffalobeer.html

BadNick 07-26-2010 05:42 PM

this place seems to add up with some of the clues:

Are you at Murder Creek?

...which according to my reference is a tributary of Tonawanda Creek, which I guessed wrong, then sixteen posts later Tully guessed wrong again just to make sure it was wrong ;) ...I guess sort of to murder that guess of Tonawanda Creek. So I'm partially indebted to Tully for helping me come up with that murdered guess. Thanks, Tul :) ...this is assuming it's the right guess, which may be a wrong conclusion until unc confirm it, or not.

Halloween at Murder Creek

Murder Creek, NY - Google Maps

you're up, nick...

BadNick 07-27-2010 05:30 PM

poor Sadie :(

I was in Lewes Delaware again all day today, working in sea salts. I'll find a place soon and report back.

CaliLivChick 07-27-2010 08:53 PM

gonna make a guess anyway... are you in my bed?

Zooksport2 07-27-2010 08:57 PM

Correct! You're up! lol

CaliLivChick 07-27-2010 09:00 PM

BadNick can have my turn. *leaps into bed*

uncle phil 07-28-2010 02:26 AM

Thank you, dear. I hope it was as good for you as it was for me :)

Sorry, folks, I was busy with a strange woman I found in bed....not "strange" in a bad way, just someone I didn't know ...in the biblical sense.

Sort of related to this escapade, where in the world am I?

uncle phil 07-28-2010 11:57 AM

EH?

Zooksport2 07-28-2010 02:02 PM

WH?

BadNick 07-28-2010 02:49 PM

I'm in the WH.

I thought CaliLivChick was here a minute ago, but now I don't see hide nor hair of her. Zook, you see her in your bed?

uncle phil 07-28-2010 03:29 PM

she might be under my bed...

(aunt phil would really be pissed...)

NH?

BadNick 07-28-2010 05:49 PM

nope. SH.

(don't tell her? I'm not asking her but my wife would probably not be pleased about something like that, either...most wives are like that for some reason)

CaliLivChick 07-28-2010 06:29 PM

South America?

Don't worry y'all, just hop into my bed and we won't mention this to your wives... unless they want to join or take pics... ;)

BadNick 07-28-2010 07:13 PM

el correcto, Sudamerica it is. I've been know to go places in this game that have some superlative quality, sort of like CLC I'm sure, so this is another place like that.

CaliLivChick 07-28-2010 07:16 PM

Chile?

BadNick 07-28-2010 07:16 PM

nope

CaliLivChick 07-28-2010 07:21 PM

Southern South America?

BadNick 07-28-2010 07:46 PM

I'll say no, since I'm north of Chile.

CaliLivChick 07-28-2010 08:03 PM

Bolivia?

Only in my Dreams, Nick. Only in my dreams....

.

Just realised my FU... I said WH, when I should have said NH.... doesn't matter, we know where you are now....

North of Chile.... hows about Embalse Nuclear Power Station..... Province of Cordoba?

.

Tully Mars 07-29-2010 02:26 AM

Venezuela?

uncle phil 07-29-2010 03:10 AM

brazil?

CaliLivChick 07-29-2010 10:54 AM

w00t! I'm dream fodder! score!

*taps foot* Nick, waiting on you here bud...

BadNick 07-29-2010 12:14 PM

patience is a virtue, CLC, in case you need one

Yes, Bolivia.

CaliLivChick 07-29-2010 12:15 PM

Virtues? Virtues? We don't need no stinkin' virtues!

Northern Bolivia?

BadNick 07-29-2010 12:25 PM

Now I'm sure we have some kind of mystical connection since in my last post I had to restrain myself from posting "we don't need no stinkin'..." , either that or we're both just nuts.

I wouldn't say northern or southern, really, since it's close to the middle, though dangling to the left of center this time.

It's a natural feature with a man- (and I'm sure greatly helped by woman) -made thing plopped there to make it that superlative category.

CaliLivChick 07-29-2010 12:32 PM

Mystical connection sounds right, but nuts is more likely.

Incan temple?

BadNick 07-29-2010 12:39 PM

not nearly that old. This place was built for the same purpose it might be used today ...as long as global warming doesn't interfere too much. Go to hell, Al Gore<<<the AG part is not a clue

Zooksport2 07-29-2010 02:41 PM

How about Cochabamba? 17° 23′ 0″ S, 66° 10′ 0″ W

BadNick 07-29-2010 06:14 PM

Zook, you're about 28,400,245 barleycorn too far east.

(~150 miles / ~240 km)

Zooksport2 07-29-2010 08:37 PM

So.... what's that in midgie dicks?

So, near Laguna Paro Kkota?

.

Tully Mars 07-30-2010 02:34 AM

"El Camino de la Muerte?"

BadNick 07-30-2010 07:15 AM

neither of those places, and I'm not positive where either place is. But I'm within 20 miles of La Paz

uncle phil 07-30-2010 11:11 AM

in cotapata national park?

BadNick 07-30-2010 12:54 PM

unc, a little north of that park; less than 10 miles.

Look for a building on a hilltop that has some superlative significance and I'll be there waiting for you all.

uncle phil 07-30-2010 01:06 PM

in rinconada?

BadNick 07-30-2010 01:29 PM

a bit too far. I'm much closer to La Paz, about 18 miles it says. The place I am is the only one of it's kind in Bolivia and offers an unexpected activity for such an equatorial location.

uncle phil 07-30-2010 01:51 PM

Chacaltaya glacier?

Tully Mars 07-30-2010 04:48 PM

Can I guess Phil's guess too?

Zooksport2 07-30-2010 07:02 PM

Chacaltaya glacier is my guess as well .. :)

BadNick 07-30-2010 08:02 PM

I'm happy to report that you are all correct...sort of. Each of you please go out and have a beer or two on me. Just PM me the bill, and then all of you go hide someplace. But as far as this game, dear old uncle phil was the first to post the right answer, so now it's his turn. Go, unc!

I said "sort of" above because as you see in these clues below, I said

and I'm sure you'll all agree that a glacier doesn't fit "This place was built.."

As opposed to a building, which is built; thus I gave the clue

So I was tempted to string you guys out a bit longer. But this ski lodge built on top of
the mountain and near the glacier is the highest ski resort in the world, and the only
ski resort in Bolivia, at an altitude of 17,785 feet / 5421 meters...so it's even tough
breathing normally up there.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...854e8cf344.jpg

This equatorial ski area is the world’s highest lift served ski area as well as the northernmost
ski area in South America.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ccd0458fca.jpg

It overlooks Lake Titicaca and the city La Paz

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...c5786af0db.jpg

However, the glacier that once surrounded the lodge with copious amount of snow is
melting fast. Scientists say that glaciers are increasingly receding throughout the Andes
but the Chacaltaya’s melting has been especially quick due to climate change.
Attributing the melting to the growing emission of Green House gases causing global
warming, scientists are speculating that Bolivia’s skiing tradition could be in the
extinct list when Chacaltaya’s modest ski run may disappear forever in a few years.

Zooksport2 07-30-2010 09:45 PM

Well, that exactly where we meant! :)

uncle phil 07-31-2010 03:30 AM

lake titicaca would have been my next guess...

give me some time and i'll come up with someplace...

BadNick 07-31-2010 08:30 AM

in the meantime, I'll see what google shows for titi and caca

Tully Mars 08-01-2010 11:52 AM

Just don't search "two girls one cup."

CaliLivChick 08-01-2010 12:00 PM
