Are you underwater?
|
see, sometimes you need a pro to solve the problem.
Tul, yes I'm underwater. A superlative underwater something in that region. Clue: a quite recent discovery, just earlier this year. |
are you in the underwater cave Padre Nuestro, off the coast of the Dominican Republic?
|
sounds nice, amonkie. But no. Head due west or do head west. Might as well add west do head.
|
Are you in the Cayman Trough, at the deepest active hydrothermal vent on the planet, discovered just this month?
|
aha!!!! Yes. That's where I'm hiding. The water right here is pretty damn hot!
The Cayman Trough, or Cayman Trench, also called Bartlett Deep, or Bartlett Trough, also recently referred to as amonkie's hot spot, is a complex transform fault zone pull apart basin which contains a small spreading ridge on the floor of the western Caribbean Sea between Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. It is the deepest point in the Caribbean Sea and forms part of the tectonic boundary between the North American Plate and the Caribbean Plate. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...derwater02.jpg In March 2010 a UK team from the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton (NOCS), led by the famous underwater scientist and adventurer Tully Mars, and equipped with an autonomously controlled, robot submarine called BadNick, began mapping the full extent of the trench and discovered black smokers (unlike uncle phil who is a white smoker when he's puffing his Havana) on the ocean floor at a depth of 3.1 miles (5 kilometers), the deepest yet found anywhere in the world. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...omb-raider.jpg You're up, monkie. |
Damn! and I thought i did a good job of keeping my hot spot a secret... now i'll have to share the orgasmic pleasure!!
In that case.. I must go away to a place that even bears my name. Where am I? |
are you at Amonkes S.A. restaurant in Buenos Aires, Argentina? I can't read Spanish too well, but I think this says they sell hot meat:
AMONKES S.A. Conservas carnicas, comidas preparadas Rubro: Industrias Procesadoras de Carne - Delikatessen, Gourmets, Diferenciados Dirección: Av. Lisandro de la torre 2285 (1440) - Buenos Aires - Argentina Tel: 4687-6643 Fax: 4687-6643 |

I've gone back to my family roots.. and I'm glad this place now is a lot more cheerful that it was once upon a time. |
Was it a sad day where you are because of something to do with argyle pants and the Norwegian Olympic curling team? 'A sad day for pants' - Fourth-Place Medal - 2010 Olympics Blog
|
Not a specific day.. more along the lines of where this place that I am at was used for.
|

Nope... feeling a little more closer to A Higher Power. All this isolation makes it easy to pray.

ahh, now I get it! You're "a monk" at Munkholmen Munkholmen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Munkholmen (Norwegian, meaning the monk's islet) is an islet north of Trondheim, Norway in the Trondheimsfjord. The islet has served as a place of execution, a monastery, a fortress, prison, and a World War II anti-aircraft gun station. Today, Munkholmen is a popular tourist attraction and recreation site. |
Badnick you Got it! the current English translation and landmark name is Monks Island
http://images.travelpod.com/users/li...0.img_3886.jpg I always wanted my own island.. you're up! |
About 30 years ago I almost bought an island in the St. Lawrence Seaway. It was sort of like #15 in this pic, but I don't recall it having such a nice tree
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...73703f3bf8.jpg OK, where in the world am I? |
That IS an awfully nice tree.

|
Does it tickle you in the Nethers?
|
no meds and not in the Nethers
...though I'm sure it would tickle if amonkie whispered that in my ear. The name of this place sounds sort of funny to the typical American/U.S. ear. |

|
If you ARE in russia.... are you at Lake Baikal, the pearl of Siberia and the most volumunious freshwater lake in the worldhttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...5c/Olchon1.jpg?

Orkney Is?
|
Faroe islands?
|
Orkney and Faroe are quite close but I'm not at those islands. Head a little north and look for a special type of building with a funny/unusual name. If someone yelled this name at you, you might think they were pissed off at you or being sort of rude ...i.e., the sound of it not the actual meaning.
|
Near Greenland?
|
Are you on Svalbard?
|
you guys are far out! Greenland is too far NW and Svalbard is too far NE. How cute is that? :) < that part's not a clue, just me engaging you in deeper discussion on this fun and previously nonsensical topic. This is a clue: go back to the UK and you'll start to see the light.
|
Are you at a lighthouse in Shetland?
|
ahh, now you're cookin' < That's not a clue either, I just can't shut up < btw, that's not a clue, either....so just yes. Now find one that sounds like somebody is yelling something rude to you, and it also has some kind of superlativeness about it. In case you're like my kids, it may not sound "rude" to you, it might just be a normal lyric from any number of your favorite hiphop/rap tunes you listen to while doing your homework and you're mother's cooking dinner in the kitchen.

Are you at the Muckle Flugga Light House, which marks the northernmost point of the British Isles?
|
amonkie, you are the winner again! You little Mikla Flugey.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...le_Flugga1.jpg I learned something, too. You have to watch out for mermaids. Did you read what this one did below?: Muckle Flugga is a small rocky island north of Unst in the Shetland Islands, Scotland. It is often described as the northernmost point of the British Isles, but the smaller islet of Out Stack is actually farther north. It used to be the northernmost inhabited island, but forfeited that accolade when the lighthouse was automated and the last residents moved out. The name comes from Old Norse, Mikla Flugey, meaning "large steep-sided island". The original name was "North Unst", but in 1964 that was changed to "Muckle Flugga". According to local folklore, Muckle Flugga and nearby Out Stack were formed when two giants, Herma and Saxa, fell in love with the same mermaid. They fought over her by throwing large rocks at each other, one of which became Muckle Flugga. To get rid of them, the mermaid offered to marry whichever one would follow her to the North Pole. They both followed her and drowned, as neither could swim. |
Well there you are!
I spent so much time trying to find you I don't have a place in mind at the moment where I'd like to be found.. Tully or Phil, one of you guys want to take this round? |

Wyoming?
|
amonkie,
do you know how progressive Wyoming is regarding women's rights? Wyoming was the first U.S. state to grant suffrage to women, Wyoming was also the home of other firsts for U.S. women in politics. For the first time, women served on a jury in Wyoming (Laramie in 1870). Wyoming had the first female court bailiff (Mary Atkinson, Laramie, in 1870) and the first female justice of the peace in the country (Esther Hobart Morris, South Pass City, in 1870). Wyoming became the first state in the Union to elect a female governor, Nellie Tayloe Ross, who was elected in 1924 and took office in January 1925. Because of rights given to women, Wyoming earned the nickname of "The Equality State". |
nick - yup...
