Fast Weight Gain.... ??
Does anyone out there know how I could put on an extra 15-20 pounds in the next 5 months ??? Im currently 6"0 tall and weigh 161lbs, I exercise 4 if not 5 times a week and run/jog about 3 times a week. I've took creatine, whey proteins, weight gainers, and even hormone drops, some of these helped but I think I just burned the weight right off. I know eating is a very big part of it but there has to be another way to put on some pounds and keep the weight. If anyone has been in the same boat and has comments or suggestions they will be greatly appreciated, also if you know of any good weight gainers that'd be kool too, thanks

Stop running dude! .. if you wanna grow you have to stop doing cardio! ..
You have to chose: Either you wanna gain fast, Or trim up .. Or do the combined, but alot longer version! .. Eat Chicken! Eat Turkey! Lift Heavy, Sleep Heavy, and Eat Heavy! .. Its the only way to get Heavy! Your weight gainer and creatine will not work unless you stop running .. It will only increase the use of energy in your body, and it will eat your muscles dry! .. So once again, stop running .. If you wanna take on 15-20 pounds, then aim for 25 pounds, and when you reach it .. Start doing your cardio .. Along with the normal training .. And you can relax alittle on the heavy weights by then, and start doing 12-15 reps instead .. But still, eat alot of Chicken and Turkey .. Oh .. and Tuna. Fish is good for ya.

hobo, just remember, don't start doing cardio (read: Running, bicycling, and so forth) .. If you wanna gain a few poungs you have to actually lift weights to gain weight.
And whatever you are eating now .. Double it. Cause you will need the energy.

You want to put on weight? Try adding in a couple of Big Macs before every meal. Watch more TV, stuffing your face with cake. Seems to work well for many...
And reduce the cardio (more serious this one) - it may be good for you etc etc, but it encourages your body to break down protein (especially long runs/rides)

If you do want to keep up with the cardio you can if you have 3/4 of a cup of ice-cream before you go to bed every night. I friend of mine did this and kept his running in check as well.

You can do running while looking to gain weight: just make sure you are doing sprints (anerobic fitness) rather than long distance (aerobic).
All you need to do is lift really heavy and eat alot. Never ignore legs in the gym. Your legs are your biggest muscles, by working them hard you promote more muscle growth over your entire body. |

About Tuna, alot of bodybuilders eat a TON of it because it's basically entirely protein.
It is very good... but medical studies have proven that its high mercury content is very bad for you if you have too much of it. 3 times a week should be the absolute maximum. |

Im 22 years old, been a pretty skinny guy all my life, just got into weight lifting and exercising about 2 years ago, I've gotten bigger than I use to be but 180lbs is my goal, once I make it there I will be satisfied. I just need some weight to work with because all my access weight is already turning into muscle from creatine, N02, etc.

Just to throw something into the mix. If you REALLY can't gain any weight by taking in a lot of good calories and supplements, why not try to add some "extras" like peanut butter and ice cream. I maycatch a lot of heat for this, but if you really burn off the pounds that quickly, then try to pack it on any way you can. Just a thought...

Basically echoing what others have said, but: cut back on aerobic exercise. There's a reason bodybuilders don't warm up by running to the gym; you simply won't gain weight if you're telling your body you want to run.
And don't underestimate the amount you may need to eat. The biggest (muscular) man I've ever met was when I was training at a gym in England. His arms were bigger than his head, and he'd been training for 10 years, solid. His after-gym, before bed snack was half a chicken and three cans of tuna. |

I'm currently doing the weight gain thing too. I bumped up to about 3000 calories/day, and started hitting the gym. I eat about 4-5 meals daily, with 2-3 weight gainer shakes thrown in there. I've gained 10 lbs in about 3 weeks, and it's staying on. I'm aiming for another 15.

I gained 12lbs over 7 weeks only to fall sick soon after and lose about 5 of those pounds. That hurt A LOT.
Anyway so I'm back at the gym now ... drinking my smelly Weight Gainer and chugging on water and eating ...ugh....chicken after chicken after chicken. I was supposed to have gained about 20lbs by now but thanks to the two weeks I was sick + 1 week VERY OLD grandmom came I'm left with only 8lbs gained. I have till september 10th so I hope I can pull things together before then. |

I'm a 31 y/o male, 6' and weigh 10 1/2 stone (147 lbs) I work in a manual environment (building laborer) and don't have time or the energy to go to the gym after doing a 13 hour shift. Money is also tight so I can't afford the weight gain powders which all seem to be quite expensive. I have tried eating more chicken, fish, potatoes and about 5 pints of milk a day but just cannot seem to put on any weight at all. I've had to accept I have a high metabolism, and just hope it slows down a bit. SOON!

When I was still trying to put on weight while weight training, I cooked and ate a one-pound box of pasta with olive oil every night, along with lean meat, vegetables, etc. If you're training hard enough, it won't even be a chore.
Somebody mentioned peanut butter. Some bodybuilders I know treat peanut butter as a "good" fat, one that is healthier for the body than animal fat and to some degree encourages muscle growth. |

Cardio can be good and bad depending on the amount of bodyfat your gaining as your weight increments. Firstly, you can NOT get leaner and heavier at the same time. you cannot have a surplus and an excess of calories at the same time.
You need to make a food diary and record all food in it and all liquids you drink. You sound like an ectomorph. A body-type that is naturally lean and stores food very inefficiently. Thus you only have one real recourse. You must eat my friend. You must consider eating 6-8-10 times a day. You do NOT need supplements besides possibly a basic whey protein isolate/concentrate/calcium caseinate mix. These are usually the cheapest and if you desire one buy in bulk for more savings. I am in Australia so I cant give specifics on your local products. You need to educate yourself regarding food types that contain calories that are dense. Examples = water and fruit = great vitamins and minerals and water and fibre and almost NO calories ... you will stay small. Better would be a full cream milk smoothie and a handful of seeds or nuts. Same sort of stomach load but you just had a gazillion more calories and your a tiny step closer to the BIG you. Dont hesiaite to ask away re this. I have both personal experience and have aided many others. Hope to hear from you soon.

i had this problem too. i'm 5'8" and used to weigh in the 160-range, then i went on a bulk and started eating 6 meals a day, a lot of water, and lifted like an freakin' animal. i stopped doing cardio and always made sure i was consuming more calories than i was burning. in six months i jumped up to 178...then eventually went on a cut and now i'm 170 with single digit bf %.

To add to the link above. I am 5'9 210 (I've put on about 15 lbs from NOS in a few months and you keep the gains even when you stop unlike creatine which just bloats you with water. You definitely need a lot of carbs a day like many people have said. You should cosume 3-4 times your body weight in grams of carbs and consume your body weight in grams of protein.

Also, to add to the topic of this post. Why would you want fast weight gain? Any fast weight gain is going to be unhealthy weight AKA just Fat and Water. Gaining muscle bulk takes time just like losing fat does. Eat clean, dont listen to these guys telling you to overload on carbs and no cardio, these guys are either uninformed or just fat and THINK they are muscular. Eat more calories then your BMR is and any carbs you consume, make sure they are all quality carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, whole wheat bread, etc. Also, make sure you're getting in some high quality fats too. Load up on that protein!! At least 1 gram per pound of bodyweight.

"Sleep Heavy, and Eat Heavy! .. Its the only way to get Heavy!"
