Cardio can be good and bad depending on the amount of bodyfat your gaining as your weight increments. Firstly, you can NOT get leaner and heavier at the same time. you cannot have a surplus and an excess of calories at the same time.
You need to make a food diary and record all food in it and all liquids you drink. You sound like an ectomorph. A body-type that is naturally lean and stores food very inefficiently. Thus you only have one real recourse. You must eat my friend.
You must consider eating 6-8-10 times a day. You do NOT need supplements besides possibly a basic whey protein isolate/concentrate/calcium caseinate mix. These are usually the cheapest and if you desire one buy in bulk for more savings. I am in Australia so I cant give specifics on your local products. You need to educate yourself regarding food types that contain calories that are dense.
Examples = water and fruit = great vitamins and minerals and water and fibre and almost NO calories ... you will stay small. Better would be a full cream milk smoothie and a handful of seeds or nuts. Same sort of stomach load but you just had a gazillion more calories and your a tiny step closer to the BIG you.
