OK, this may bee very easy.

It is.
the Big Apple in Brighton Ontario. Quote:
ya ya ya... you sound like my wife! :) |
It is the Big Apple but I think it is in Colborne
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/9108/sany0031uv9.jpg |
You're right, Colborne is closer. It's just that whenever I hitch-hiked through the area, Brighton made more of an impression on me (due to standing under the overpass there for hours)
I will find a pic. where is this? http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...rioushouse.jpg |
I think it's on Coxwell just south of Gerrard in Toronto.
I know I've driven by it a few times and seen it in the papers. |
That's fuckin cool, wonder what the interior looks like.

right you are Charlatan... just midway between Dundas & Gerrard on the east side of Coxwell.
Your pic ... isn't that the new beach at Harbourfront on Toronto? |
Game on Leto. HTo Park.
|
ok, let's see if this can attract any accurate guesses:

Muskoka?
|
Somewhere in northern Ontario - note the pink granite in the aggregate used in the road construction.
In southern ontario, it would be limestone which is grey here. In northen Ontario, they use a lot of granite due to it being everywhere. Though not as far north as Timmins. The granite seems to die out around New Liskeard. |
it's not Ontario. This patch of road is actually quite significant and is a destination.
|
Magnetic Hill in Moncton New Brunswick?
|
I'd say JTK has it...
|
Magnetic Hill? Cool.
I don't know enough about Canada. |
|
JTK, you got it. very impressive.
Your pic is in Ontario, I recognize the Beer Store in the background |
It is ontario yes, but you'll need to be more specific than that.
The photo was taken by yours truly whilst out looking at railings actually. :) |
is this in Kitchener?
|
Nope.
Toronto..... |
there is something about that Beer Store that rings a bell... I just can't place it, yet.
It's got an industrial feel to and I want to say that its in the Thorncliffe or Laird Ave. area of town. |
Quote:
Quite the opposite in fact. :) |
Is this in Yorkville? I'm thinking Cumberland....
|
Quote:
If I post a view of this fountain from the other direction, you'd know it in a heart beat.... |
Pft, all you guys are from the east. I don't stand a chance. I have been to Toronto for a total of about 8 hours.
|
That Beer Store is familiar... I have been looking at Beer Store locations on Google Maps and I just can't place it...
|
Quote:
Hehe.... well, there used to be a strong (and enjoyable) western rep on this thread... my next pic (if i get a chance) will be a western one for sure... As for this current view from JTK... Would this fountain be a memorial or acknowledgment of some group? Iron workers by any chance? |

Here's a clue.... I was out looking at railway bridges for a job I was working on when I took this shot. So, it's close (very close) to a railway bridge!!!! It's a very unique fountain as well. |
That's has to be at Summerhill LCBO on Yonge Street, right on the south side of the bridge.
|
this is in fact the fountain in front of the summerhill LCBO at Yonge & Summerhill. I just returned from there (with some very nice wine).
|
Sweet!!
I don't think that Beer Store is on the Beer Store website... OK. This is a little different. It's an older photo but I think there are some significant clues in the shot itself. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5178940383765937026"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/StevenMurphy001/R99K1v9LO4I/AAAAAAAACYU/jcykG3x3p2Y/s800/Where.jpg" /></a> |
Is that in Victoria? I know they have trolley down the middle of the street. Are those trolley lines?
|
It's not Victoria and this street no longer has streetcar tracks. They've long since been removed.
|

The other view. This would have been waaayyy too easy. Yes, it is the tipping fountain in front of the old CPR Summerhill Station located on the CPR North Toronto Subdivision. Here is a picture of the Yonge Street Subway. (Subway being the correct name for a railway carrying bridge over a roadway.) http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5...4/PB280008.jpg Quote:
It's on "the Danforth" looking east from Broadview. I recognize the steeple in the background. The old Street car tracks were removed when the City built the Bloor / Danfort line in the 50's. |
That's close enough. It's a little east of Broadview at the intersection of Logan and Danforth.
And the steeple was what I thought would give it away. |
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5...4/DSCN4617.jpg
There you go...... Taken by yours truly and recently designated a "historical structure" BTW, I read in the Globe and Mail today that it was 50 years ago that Toronto council voted unanamously in favour for the construction of the Danforth Subway. Too bad we can't have that sort of political will today. |
Are these stairs in the Logan and Gerrard area?
|
Nooop.
Right city, wrong location.... Sadly, long since abandonned. |
Queen & Gladstone area?
