it is weird that a rock would have those funny digitized rings on them.
:) |
Got it! Page 26 of a GIS for "Petroglyph" phew.
The St. Victor Petroglyphs, just south of the town of St. Victor in Saskatchewan. http://collections.ic.gc.ca/petroglyphes/indexe.htm |
Indeed. Game on fresnelly.
I was actually searching for an image of something else in the area and was amazed to find out that these petroglyphs could be found online. I had grandparents who lived in Assinaboia, Saskatchewan and this it one of the locations that they took me about 18-20 years ago. At the time, you had to open a barb wire fence to acccess the two-rut road. There was a plywood sign asking people not to camp overnight and to not leave garbage. I believe there is another site, about a 3 minute drive away over rough terrain. I'm saddended to think that it may have been lost forever. It was hard to find then, and the person who did know the location can't walk anymore. Incidently, as I started looking for good images of this location, apparently no one can agree on who carved these when. Sometime after the last ice age, sometime before about 200 years ago. |
Okay, this might be a tough one. It's definitely not in Toronto and I'm proud to say, I took this myself:

Looks like the Trans-Canada Pipeline.
Must be somewhere near Calgary. |
In Alberta, but this pipe carries water.
|
Red Deer?
... |
Farther South
|
love that country side. Reminds me of treeplanting days...
|
Banff Nationa Park?
|
Definitely warmer, but not in Banff NP.
|
Just another guess, Lacier Nation Park?
|
Closer to Banff
Hint: It feeds a nearby town |
Canmore?
Another guess. |
Canmore it is
This runs down into the town from the Spray Lakes Resevoir, nestled in the pass between the east end of Mt. Rundle and Ha Ling Peak. There's a great, not too hard, hike up from the Canmore Nordic Centre. They filmed the plane crash scene for the movie The Edge, starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin, in the resevoir. Game on Sticky! |
I never would have got that without the help. Thanks.
OK, I have been here many times. Where am I? http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SAA3A...67174975314713 |
Montreal?
But that is a wild guess. EDIT: are all those roads wreaked? |
I'm not sure they are roads. I can't quite tell what I'm looking at, not sure of the scale either. Reminds me a aggregate stockpile location/trainyard for a concrete company. A mine maybe.
|
looks like log chutes...
|
You all (except Charlatan) have the right idea.
It is Montreal. I am looking for a more specific answer as this place is well known. I will accept answers that are fairly close to the actual answer. To get an idea of the scale...if you look at the top of the picture you can see buildings. Hint: This picture was taken in 1966 (not by me). |
AUTOROUTE METROPOLITAINE
Autoroute Metropolitaine - where it meets Avenue Souligny right near the Hopital Louis H Lafontaine... The Met. Je pense... |
Non, tu n'est pas correct.
You really have the right idea though. |
Merde........
|
Look for another big interchange similar to the one that you mentioned.
|
I saw that is past weekend but I was drunk and can;t remember what it was called.someone told me.....Gah!!
|
"Highway 20, Turcot Interchange and Highway 13, Montreal"
I cheated by googling it. Does it still count? Am I even right? I think it is: I found the image: http://bilan.usherbrooke.ca/bilan/pa...otos/3054.html |
cellophanedeity, that is close enaough for me and I certainly don't care if you googled it.
It is the Turcot Interchange but is is actually the crossings of highway 20 and highway 15 (which to the right of where the picture begins is the Decarie Expressway). The grounds in the top right of the image are the Turcot Yards (rail yards). |
Trying to think of places I've been, here's one that is actually pretty, and quite recognizable!

it looks like lake water, in that I can't see any evidence of a tide... |
the fish tug behind the schooner is a dead giveaway for the Great Lakes.
|
Definitely Kincardine! sorry for the wait!
|

JTK - why is the intersection there in such bad shape? **edit: I justlooked at that pic again Lucifer, and that's when it hit me that it is a breaching whale! far out... |
