Almost every country in the world has parks, some are even fairly famous.
If it helps any there is a town of the same name in the country I'm in. |
hmmm, I don't know what country you're in. I guess I might be able to search that out.
How about are you in Africa? |

Yes, Africa. |
kruger national park?
|
No, between the tropic of capricorn and the equator.
In fact I had to go make sure the equator did not run through this park. It's south of the equator, but just barely. |
the tropic of capricorn IS south of the equator...

Tsavo is one of the largest national parks in the world. A favorite of those in search of a good old African Safari for decades. While a rail line was being built in 1898 from the coast to Nairobi two man eating lions, nick named "Ghost" and "Darkness" were responsible for some 130 deaths. The story was first a book then a film "The Ghost and the Darkness" starring Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas. The actual lions are stuffed and in the Natural History Museum in Chicago. Here's a shot I took there in '86: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3087/...fa0a36.jpg?v=0 A group of us from my ship took a tour, it was like watching Wild Kingdom in real life. Only Mr. Perkins seemed missing. Elephants were every where. So were monkeys, they joined us for lunch. Here's what happens when you make fun of a monkey: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3264/...ecc791.jpg?v=0 And yes that monkey is "happy" to see him, but didn't think much of the mocking: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3093/...39e4e4.jpg?v=0 That monkey chased him around for quite a while. I'd have more shots of the chase but I was laughing too hard and none of them came out. The monkey eventually tried and walked over grabbed his lunch and beer and walked off. It's your game Uncle Phil. |
Quote:
ok, find me... (i'm leaving for golf in a little while but i'll be back later on...) |
with all this golf, I'm going to start calling you uncle_tiger.
Tully, I wonder if that monkey was so happy to see you because your red shirt reminded him of those hot red-assed babe monkeys in estrous...and I can relate to being rejected and just going off to have a sandwich and a beer :( OK....are you in the northern hemisphere? |
Quote:
That's not me in the photo. I'm running, rather poorly, the camera. I have no idea what color shirt, if any, I was wearing that day. Also can't remember his name, know he was in "E" division (electrician.) I was in the ships fire dept. or "flying squad." East Hem? |

Well Nick- Northern Hem? |
Tully - yes, northern hemi

Nope, not an island. Clue: not "coastal" |

So Europe? |

http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...reams/Boat.jpg |
See, I bet the guy who put that boat in his yard...as well as a guy near my house who has a small airplane parked on his lawn, seemingly to enhance his landscaping...these guys might have done this since they are probably a little like Tully and could have a bit of a reading comprehension problem...not to fear Tully, there are some gorgeous reading teachers in our school district ;)
Anyway, so far we have only established that it is in the Northern Hemisphere and that was done by our beloved Tully, no less. Then we said NO to "island" and NO to "North America". Now I'm adding YES to Tully's "Europe" and "probably yes" to uncle phil's "in someone's back yard" since I'm sure there are some people's back yards in the place I am. So I am in Europe. Clue: and not just any old place in Europe, this has a lot of significance to me personally, though I'm not sure how searchable that info might be. |
city?
|
The Pythonga?
No, I'm naming my boat the "Misguided Too." Until playing this game I didn't realize on how many levels that name would work. Plus after this game I think I've decided I'm going to need an auto tiller, chart plotter, and two back up GPS's... Hmm, maybe three? Nick- North of Cancer? |
yes I have a city in mind...kind of a small city/town.
In addition to it's great significance to me personally, it also has some infamy associated with it. edit: Tully, yes, since I'm certain all of Europe is north of the tropic of cancer. Btw, strange coincidence: I was born under the zodiac sign Cancer  ...no need to bake a cake, but my bday is at the end of this month. You're all invited to my party if you can find it ;) |
Ok, four back up GPS's
North of 50 degrees? |
city in a landlocked country?
|
Tully, no, it is south of 50 N latitude.
unc, yes it is in a landlocked country. |
South of 45 N?
|
Tully, no. It is north of 45 but south of 50.
|
East of 15 E?
|
Tully, nope. I'm west of 15.
Got any countries in mind yet? |
luxemburg?
|
Liechtenstein?
|
good guesses, but not those. Keep guessing, there are only a couple more possibilities for which country.
Clue: the significance to "me" is that I was born in this country/town. It is a quite small town that is otherwise not famous for much other than the "infamous" connection I previously mentioned, which I could elaborate on further if we need more clues. |
switzerland?
|
I like their watches and cheese...do they make cheese watches?....but no, not Switzerland. Think Empire.
|
austria?
|
ahh, good job, unc.
Yes I am in Austria. I'm hoping this little town I'm in is not too obscure to guess, but I will try to think of some not-too-obvious clues if necessary. I wonder if you google "place where BadNick was born" if it will come up? Here's a clue: this town is on the Inn River, but it is not Innsbruck. I still have my little boy lederhosen which my mom says I proudly wore when I was up to about 3 years old. |
salzburg?
|
I've been in Salzburg, nice town. But not where I am now.
In Salzburg there's a beautiful castle on a hilltop overlooking the Inn River that my parents used to take me to on nice days. There's a large pool on one of the stone decks overlooking the valley, with a scary gargoyle face on the wall spewing water from its mouth into the pool...I still recall being afraid to look at it when I was little...now I would kick its ass! or jump into the pool...but I clearly remember the sensual pleasure and feeling of perfect safety as I wrapped my mom's dress over my face so I didn't have to look at it. There was also a garden outside the castle with a high wrought iron fence and a lot of deer inside; I recall throwing pieces of bread to the fawns and being upset that the big deer ate the bread. |
vienna?
|
Nope, too large. I'm in a very small town. Also, Vienna is on the Danube River, not the Inn.
clue: An infamous person connected to WWII was also born in this town. |
braunau am inn!

|
ok...Where...Am...I???
|
Western Hemisphere?
ps....if we get too good at this or run out of places, we might have to expand it to anywhere in the solar system. |
or philadelphia...
western hemisphere - yes... |
N.H?
Nick- You were born in the same town as Hitler? |
northern hemi - yes
|
Northwest Hem. Ok, let's see if I can do this without the need of several GPS's.
North America? |
yes...
|
Tully,
yes, that BadGuy Hitler was also born in Braunau...that dude was sick and evil, I'm glad he's dead along with some of his buddies. uncle phil, are you in Canada? |

|
Are you in Mexico?
|
i am not in mexico...

|
United States?
|
Are you somewhere in the lower 48 of the U.S.?
unc, if you're in Philadelphia at the Eulogy Belgian Tavern, stay there I'll meet you shortly and buy you a few rounds. Eulogy Tavern - Belgian owned spot delivers two ingredients missing from the glam and hype of Old City's nightlife scene: good beer and relatively down-to-earth people. The more than 300 draught and bottled international brews provide patrons with ample sipping options. The bar's specialty Belgian twiced-fried fries complement the homemade hamburger and sirloin steak sandwich. |
ring - no
tully - yes nick - yes was in king of prussia two weeks ago...will get there again... |
Are you west of the Mississippi River?
hey unc, I live 15min from KofP. If you want to belt a couple down together, call me next time...and when I say "belt down" I'm not talking bondage, I only do that with babes. If you let me know I'll PM you my cell number. |
