Draw a line on a map from Brisbane Australia to Fiji. In the middle of that line you'll find me. |
By elimination, and since it seems you are willing to indulge my incessant guessings, I will offer up once again that you are in: New Caledonia
|
Quote:
Oui, oui I'm on the beach at Noumea, New Caledonia. Somewhere I have pics from the beach there and some of their money. Which was, when I was there French Francs. it a French tourist spot and I believe owned by the French. You're up Jetee |

North hem?
|
Let's see... Ah, well... it seems most of the inhabitable world as we know it lies above the blue bisecting belt.
Affirmative then. |
West Hem?
|
Negative.
|
Europe?
|
Nein.
|
Asia?
|
Ya.
|
China
|
New Caledonia?
Edit: Hell, you guys did like 10 posts while I was still thinking! |
Tully: The People's Republic of China is more correct, but it is not my current location.
The above is actually a vague hint. |
Are you in India?
|
Hong Kong
|
Also, no.
|
Quote:
It's a beautiful island, I highly rec'd it. I will return someday. |
Siberia? I was thinking that first, but a widdow wabbit might fweeze there. Or get eaten by a tiger.
|
No.
Also, I am very impressed how fast you can narrow a location; hemisphere, continent, and so on. I am learning. |
I was waiting for you to say no, so I could say Korea. Or, People's Republic of Korea.
|
Wow. Good plan, and nice to see you taking me clue to heart. Alas, no.
Also, not to give too much away, but this place also has a connection with Tully's most prominent clue for New Caledonia. |
Not Holland?
edit: hurry up and say no, so I can say Netherlands. /me thinks I'm going the wrong way on this. Where's my Tully? |
Not correct either, but to lucidify, Tully already eliminated the European continent.
|
As I thought.
You were speaking Dutch, it seemed. Guessing ... Indonesia? Though that would seem too far south. |
I seem to be alot of things. Inudibitably and irregardless(sorry, but for alliteration's sake),
Indonesia is incorrect. |
this is about my second time playing this. pausing to make a list of possible planets on earth for me to choose from.

How about Vietnam...officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam? I'm guessing this country assuming the French connection was Tully's clue you alluded to.

Do many women conceal their faces with cloth?

ItWasMe: No, many women do not, but that does not help the general consensus that may come to one's mind when one hears of this country's region. |
Are you in one of the countries that was at one time considered "French Indochina"?
|
No.
|
Is it closer to the North Pole than Lebanon is?
Alas, I must hug the furry bunny goodnight. Getting late here. |
Yes. I am within the borders of Lebanon. :D
But, this time, as opposed to last, I am located not in the capital city, but a recognizable landmark which is also the site for an international venue. Where am I residing? |
tripoli?
|
Grand Serail?
|
Are you at Beiteddine Palace?
...re: Gilberto Gil, who is also the minister of Culture of Brazil, was a guest at Beiteddine Palace, some 50 kilometers away from Beirut, the country capital. The show is part of Beiteddine Festival, which began on the July 12 and should continue with nine other presentations up to August 12. Gilberto Gil is among Brazilians at Lebanon's International Music Festival there. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ne20Palace.gif http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cs6/287887.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...palace_leb.jpg |
Ah, yes.
I am indeed at Beiteddine Palace in the Republic of Lebanon, which is also site of the International Music Festival to which I was alluding. You saved me much of the effort and history that might've gone into this post, BadNick. You were quite confident of your guess, and it paid off. The show is now yours, Nick. |
Reminds me of the movie "While You Were Sleeping."
|
Jetée, I was pretty confident based on your last couple clues and my intuition. I'll dig out one of my old LP's of Gilberto Gil playing and singing with his band...I haven't played that in quite a few years.
OK folks, where in the world am I? |
WH?
|
ItWasMe: I have not seen nor heard of the mentioned film; recommend it, would you?
BadNick: That would definitely set me aflutter to hear one of his albums. Intuition: You are currently experiencing the cusp of winter/spring. |
Tul: yes, WH
Jetée, Nope, not winter/spring. It's quite a nice summer here as far as I can see, and that's quite far. |
North America?
|
You are near the Gulf of Mexico
|
Can you see the ocean?
jet: great movie, one of my favorites. I'll pm you. |
jorgelito: yes, NA
Jetée, not near the GOM. ItWasMe, yes, I can clearly see the ocean. Quote:
PS: unfortunately, I will be MIA for about the next 16 hours...going racing!!! So if you all decide to keep the game moving along by having someone else step in with a turn, please go right ahead. I'll be back later...hopefully with some pics and incar video to post and no reports of death, damage, or injury  |
He's Going to California
|
east of the mississippi?
|
Are you in the United States territories?
I'll pm you the movie details, too. It's not a secret. You can google it. |
I'll check out Going to California but that's not where I am.
And yes unc, I'm east of the Miss. ItWasMe, yes I'm in a U.S. territory...as in a state. |
city?
|
N of the Mason Dixon line?
|
Not a city...the place I have in mind is a building and there are a couple very small towns within a few miles but the building is not in a town...it's pretty much just out there.
I am south of the Mason-Dixon line. |
Hmmm....some sort of lighthouse?
|
damn, now jorgelito is HOT!!!
yes, I'm in a lighthouse. Besides being a beautiful location, this lighthouse has some additional notoriety that you don't need to guess but I'll mention after it's guessed. |
Cape Fear?
Can we use google? |
Not Cape Fear...so go about 244 miles northeast.
Quote:
"use google"??? I live on google for this game. So NO, you are not allowed or you'll get too good at it ;) |
watch point, rhode island?
|
You are in a North Carolian Lighthouse
perhaps the one on Bodie Island -----Added 6/8/2008 at 06 : 00 : 57----- Oh I didn't know Cape Fear was already in N. Carolina :o Kitty Hawk seems to be in the vicinity you claim to be, to my cartographer's eye at least. |
or, cape may, new jersey?
|
No google allowed? Holy crap!! You guys are serious geographers. I've been struggling here going by memory and deduction.
I will keep trying though. Cape Fear is in N. Carolina (I only know this cause of the movie). Rhode Island is north of the Mason-Dixon line. Our light house is 244 miles northeast of Cape Fear. So perhaps in N. Carolina still or Virginia. What about Cape Hatteras? |
uncle phil and Jetée, sorry you guys are not guessing where I am.
jorge old buddy...I was joking about not using google. All of us have been using it quite extensively. And YES!!! jorgelito got it! I'm in Cape Hatteras Lighthouse....and that additional notoriety I referred to above is the fact that it is the tallest lighthouse in the U.S. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...e_img_0529.jpg Cape Hatteras Light is a lighthouse located on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina near the community of Buxton. The Outer Banks are a group of islands on the North Carolina coast that separate the Atlantic Ocean from the coastal sounds and inlets. Atlantic currents in this area made for excellent travel for ships, except in the area of Diamond Shoals, just offshore at Cape Hatteras. Nearby, the warm Gulf Stream ocean current collides with the colder Labrador Current, creating ideal conditions for powerful ocean storms and sea swells. The large number of ships that ran aground because of these shifting sandbars, including the Civil War ironclad warship USS Monitor, gave this area the nickname “Graveyard of the Atlantic.” It also led Congress to authorize the construction of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse which is recognized by the National Park Service as the tallest lighthouse in America. The lighthouse is one of several on the North Carolina coast that are still operational including the Currituck, Bodie Island, Ocracoke, Cape Lookout, and Oak Island lighthouses. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...-660552-sw.jpg Specifications Construction material: Approximately 1,250,000 bricks Height above sea level: 210 feet (64 m) Height of the structure: about 207½ feet (63.2 m) (from the bottom of the foundation footer to the top of the spire on the roof) Daymark: black and white spiral stripes Number of steps: 268 steps to reach the light Brightness: 800 kilocandelas from each of two 1000-watt lamps Flash pattern: Every 7.5 seconds a short flash is visible Visibility: From 20 nautical miles (37 km) in clear conditions. In exceptional conditions, it has been seen from 51 miles (94 km) out. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...-New-Locat.jpg The top ten tallest lighthouses in the U.S.: 1) 207 feet (68 m) - Cape Hatteras Light, North Carolina (height includes 10 feet underground) [1] 2) 191 feet (63 m) - Cape Charles, Virginia [2] 3) 175 feet (57 m) - Ponce de Leon Inlet Light, Florida [3] 4) 172 feet (56 m) - Barnegat Light, New Jersey 5) 169 feet (55 m) - Absecon Light, New Jersey 6) 169 feet (55 m) - Cape Lookout, North Carolina] 7) 169 feet (55 m) - Oak Island Light, North Carolina] 8) 168 feet (55 m) - Fire Island Light, New York 9) 165 feet (54 m) - St. Augustine Light, Florida 10) 158 feet (52 m) - Bodie Island Light, North Carolina So you're up jorgelito. |
auntphil and i have climbed #9...
|
I also thought in the beginning that it was not right to use Google. It hasn't helped me thus far.
|
Oh my! And this whole time I felt quite inadequate, like a "lesser nerd".
|
Did he just call us nerds?
jorgelito: try google earth. awesome now that you can do 'sky view' and see the planets. by the way, you're up. pick a place. |
You are within a continent that has no 'A' whatsoever in the vernacular
|
Jetee, is it in Europe?
|
You don't know?
|
Ok, got it.
Where in the world am I? |
