Waikiki Beach?
Possible at the "Pink Palace of the Pacific" or "Royal Hawaiian Hotel" |
Yes yes yes! I love it here - walking down the street with swimsuits and three-piece suits, surf boards and briefcases, all mixed up.
* Even with the fever you win, TM. Youre good. Where you off to? |
Can't we just hang around here and surf for a while?
Way to go Tul...hope you're feeling better. |
Thanks for everyone's concern, feeling better all the time.
I stayed next door to the "Royal" at the Sheraton for a couple weeks once. Nice, but stay away from the north end of Waikiki, esp the Hobron dist. Some one tried to car jack me there in the drive thru of a Jack-N-Box one night. OK, GO! |

Land locked country?
Or has that been asked? |
OK, as the self-appointed summarizer, I can say that we're in an urban location somewhere in Europe but not in Scotland, France, Belgium, Czech Fepublic, or a Scandia country, nor someplace where Spanish is the primary language, and apparently there is no U.S. military base in this country...so obviously Germany is out...etc.

I was just adding some colorful perspective to the page and game. I don't want to strong-arm BadNick of his win. Also, I might need time to acclimate to the intracacies of this rapidly-popular game. |

While I'm sure those two places have historically older associations than WWII, the place I am has a more ancient heritage than the last 1000 years or so. |
Nara?
|
You got it, Tul. I'm in Nara.
The "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara" include 6 temples: Todaiji, Kasuga-Taisha, Kofukuji, Yakushiji, Toshodaiji and Gangouji. Todaiji is a noteworthy example, visited by Japanese students on school trips and tourists from all over the world. This temple was built by order of Emperor Shomu (ruling from 724 to 749) in order to protect the country. The 14.7-meter-high Great Buddha in the Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall) symbolizes Nara, and his pose of holding up the palm of his right hand to the front while placing his left hand on his knee with the palm upwards means that he gives strength to the people with his right hand while promising to grant their wishes with his left. The main body of the Buddha has been repaired many times over the years, but the lotus petal part used as the foundation and both legs are as they were when first made. The building, reconstructed in the Edo era, is the largest-scale ancient wooden building in the world. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ics6/Nara1.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...6/nara_300.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...Nara_Japan.jpg |
