BadNick 06-26-2008 05:42 PM

How about Bremerhaven?

...that's the port of departure of the ship that brought me to the U.S. The rest is hysterical.

uncle phil 06-26-2008 05:43 PM

not a port city...

(by the way, my grandparents shipped out of bremerhaven back in 1912, on their way from eastern poland to erie, pa...)

Tully Mars 06-26-2008 07:24 PM

Yes, city.

BadNick 06-27-2008 06:34 AM

are you in the SH?

ps: we should call this the NUT game ...for Nick Unc Tully ...or if you have a superiority complex, I'm OK with TUN, UTN, TNU or UNT, but those don't roll off my tongue like NUT.

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 07:24 AM

Nope, NH

BadNick 06-27-2008 07:28 AM

Are you above 45deg latitude?

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 08:26 AM

No, south of 45 Lat.

BadNick 06-27-2008 10:07 AM

Are you in the EH?

...have you ever been to Tullytown, PA? ;)

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 10:22 AM

Yes, east of PM- west of the dateline and north of the equator.

Nope, never even heard of the place until you mentioned it. Got my handle from a couple of Jimmy Buffett books- "A Salty Piece of Land" et el.

BadNick 06-27-2008 10:28 AM

Are you in Asia?

...first time at lunch today I tried three Landshark Lagers...Jimmy Buffett's "name" brand beer. Light and refreshing, no unpleasant aftertastes, would buy again.

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 10:42 AM

Yep I'm in Asia.

I'm down to not buying anything Jimmy's selling. My daughter and her husband were here in Jan. I took them out to lunch at Margaritaville Cozumel. $110 for four watered downed drinks and some crappy appetizers. When I got back I mentioned this to a friend who sent me an e-mail with an article stating Jimmy's annual income is 104 million. 2 million bucks a week, every week- he's got enough of my money. I drink Sol, but if he ever comes down here I'll pony up for show tickets. The parking lot alone at a Buffett show is worth the price of admission, IMO.

BadNick 06-27-2008 11:21 AM

Are you west of 100 deg. longitude?

From what I hear, I will agree with you about the parking lot at his shows. There are a couple diehard Buffett fans in work so I hear a lot of stories.
I just recently found out about his enormous wealth, a LOT more than I knew. I need to look further into his business philosophy...to make sure it's compatible with my beer drinking philosophy.

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 11:38 AM

I'm east of 100.

I think I've been to every Margaritaville but the one in Vegas. The first one I went to was Key West and it was alright but not great. Each one after that seemed to get more on cost and less on quality. Grand Cayman was obscenely costly but at least it has a water slide and pool. Plus the drinks had actual tequila in them. Cozumel broke it for me. I swear the drinks were so bad a 7-11 lime Slurpee and some Mad Dog 20/20 would have been an improvement. Make all the money you want, I have no problem with that- just don't do it trying to sell me shitty products.

uncle phil 06-27-2008 11:51 AM

oh no, there goes tokyo?

go go godzilla...

jb only sold the franchise rights, didn't he?

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 11:57 AM

Not Tokyo.

Here's hint:

No need to praise the Lord
Nor pass the ammunition
Look to Loesser
For your next submission

I have no idea if he sold the rights, sounds like the way things are done anymore. I just know I've not been pleased with anything I eaten or drank at one of his trademarked restaurants.

uncle phil 06-27-2008 12:14 PM

pearl harbor isn't in asia...

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 12:20 PM

Nope it's not and neither am I.

Look at songs Loesser wrote and see if any make you think of an Asian country. Heck might even be in the title.

uncle phil 06-27-2008 12:32 PM

is the city in burma?

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 12:33 PM

No, think slow boat.

uncle phil 06-27-2008 12:39 PM

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 12:44 PM

More British then Chinese when I was there.

uncle phil 06-27-2008 12:49 PM

BadNick 06-27-2008 12:53 PM

ahhh, I think unc has it so instead of guessing I'll go have a beer and check back later....Sam Adams this time.

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 12:55 PM

Hong Kong!

I'm sitting in Ned Kelly's Last Stand Saloon in the Kowloon district enjoying a pint. One of my favorite bars ever.

Edit: Almost forgot- you're up UP.

uncle phil 06-27-2008 01:31 PM

Tul,
I took the liberty of checking for Ned Kelly's Last Stand Jazz Bar and was surprised they have a MySpace page, the place looks awesome and I love jazz...not to mention beer and good food and people http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndid=100977244

uncle phil 06-27-2008 03:37 PM

yup...

BadNick 06-27-2008 03:40 PM

let me dig out my map of Europe....

Are you in Spain?

uncle phil 06-27-2008 03:44 PM

i am in spain...

BadNick 06-27-2008 03:48 PM

damn unc, how did I know that. I think I'm getting psycho. Or a lucky guesser.

Are you in Barcelona? We do business there and I'd sure like to go there.

uncle phil 06-27-2008 03:57 PM

been there...took a med cruise out of there a couple of years ago...but that ain't it...

BadNick 06-27-2008 04:08 PM

Are you along the coast in Spain?

...where I hear it mainly rains on the plains, though a short storm just blew through here.

uncle phil 06-27-2008 04:11 PM

i am very, very close to a coast...

Tully Mars 06-27-2008 04:40 PM

Hello mutha, hello fatha are you in... Granada?

uncle phil 06-27-2008 04:50 PM

BadNick 06-27-2008 04:54 PM

Tully Mars 06-28-2008 03:40 AM

Huelva?

uncle phil 06-28-2008 03:57 AM

nope...

BadNick 06-28-2008 04:02 AM

Bilboa?

...I'm off to a day of paintball wars with my kid...he's war'ing with his buddies, after leaving them there I'm heading heading to the track right nearby...Pocono Raceway to see what's happening. If the track is open and nobody is racing, I'll see if my little SUV can hang on the high banked 1st turn.

Tully Mars 06-28-2008 04:07 AM

Is the coast you're close to the Bay of Biscay?

uncle phil 06-28-2008 04:39 AM

nick - yes, it is Bilbao

tully - yes

your turn, nick...

BadNick 06-28-2008 06:25 PM

Damn, as soon as you said you're very very close to a coast I looked at Bilboa and even at photos and close up maps of the town. But I originally decided against it since it sort of looked like it was ON the coast, not just near it. Then when I look at other maps it looked a teeny bit inland, so I figured it can't be it but I'll say it anyway....and it was it!

OK, where in the world am I?

Tully Mars 06-28-2008 06:34 PM

I'm going to say south east Pennsylvania?

If not then my next guess is...

WH?

BadNick 06-28-2008 06:43 PM

smart ass...yes I'm sitting here in SE PA, but were playing a GAME and I'm pretending I'm someplace else far away. So....

Yes, WH.

Tully Mars 06-28-2008 07:00 PM

Ya know, there's a fine line between smart ass and dumb ass. Uh, hey! Wait a minute...

Anyway SH?

BadNick 06-28-2008 08:28 PM

It seems you're pretty smart...not sure about the smart ass part.

Nope, not SH.

uncle phil 06-29-2008 02:26 AM

Tully Mars 06-29-2008 06:25 AM

BadNick 06-29-2008 08:35 AM

Yes U.S.

uncle phil 06-29-2008 02:52 PM

city?

BadNick 06-29-2008 07:01 PM

Well I was thinking of a city...actually a town. I think if you get generally close, it won't be too hard to figure out which town in the area I'm at since there aren't that many.

uncle phil 06-30-2008 02:46 AM

west of mississippi?

BadNick 06-30-2008 05:53 AM

Nope, I'm east of big muddy.

Tully Mars 06-30-2008 07:47 AM

On the east coast?

BadNick 06-30-2008 08:32 AM

yes, on the east coast...the right coast.

Tully Mars 06-30-2008 08:54 AM

Norfolk?

BadNick 06-30-2008 09:02 AM

nope...I'm not in Virginia

...though I did know a Virginia that I would like to be in. When I was a young man, Viginia Bell was one of my hearthrobs and a big heartthrob she had.

Virginia "Ding Dong" Bell was a topless model and actress. She started her career in the 1950s as a burlesque dancer. Standing only 5'2" (1.57 m), her 48-inch bust was her most prominent asset. According to Celebrity Sleuth magazine, Virginia's measurements were 48-24-36. She is frequently said to have had the best body ever of any burlesque dancer or pin up model.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cs6/vbell0.gif

apparently photobucket didn't think this was a nice pic...though I beg to differ:

http://www.streetswing.com/histburl/gif/vbell0.gif

Tully Mars 06-30-2008 09:13 AM

Man, I love these vintage shots. I swear I was born a couple decades (centuries?) too late.

Are you north of Norfolk?

BadNick 06-30-2008 10:38 AM

Yes, I'm north of Norfolk.

That makes me wonder if "Norfolk" means "Northern Folks"?...which would be strange since they seem to strongly consider themselves Southerners (in the U.S., that is)

Tully Mars 06-30-2008 11:19 AM

Well, in the Navy we referred to it as "No Fuck, Vagina." Not many ladies around, though I was never actually there. One of my buddies had a picture from there on his locker. Was of a lawn sign stating "Sailors and dogs keeps off the grass." Wasn't a popular duty station, never heard one guy say "Gee, can't wait to get back to Norfolk."

North of NYC?

Leto 06-30-2008 12:15 PM

uncle phil 06-30-2008 12:52 PM

navy people i knew in the 60s just called norfolk "shit city..."

in a state bordering on the atlantic ocean?

BadNick 06-30-2008 01:16 PM

yes, on the Atlantic Ocean....but south of NYC.<<<<stupid me, it is north of NYC. I've been there so many times I can't believe I screwed that up.

Thanks. I did a little search myself, but came up with the Norfolk Islanders associated with the Mutiny on the Bounty & Pitcairn Island...and I found some very interesting language they developed there, combination of Tahitian, English, natural sounds, etc.

Tully Mars 06-30-2008 01:59 PM

Atlantic City?

uncle phil 06-30-2008 02:53 PM

asbury park?

BadNick 06-30-2008 06:44 PM

nope. Wrong state. Not NJ.

ALSO, THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ANOUNCEMENT FROM THE MANAGEMENT:
Due to unexplained server motherboard problems, BadNick's post above said that he was south of NYC when in fact, he typed "north of NYC". We humbly apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you.
The Management.

Tully Mars 06-30-2008 06:59 PM

Glouchester?

BadNick 06-30-2008 07:03 PM

Nope, not Glouchester

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE MANAGEMENT:
We hereby wish to confirm that BadNick is NOT in Glouchester. Thank you and carry on.
