No, don't think they allow dogs here. So unless they're racing seeing eye dogs you won't see any dogs. |

Nope, wrong one.

haha "ITS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALLL ITS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALLL"
|
Bingo! You're up. Now let me go get this damn song out of my head.
|
Did you have any particular reason to be there, Tul? There were a few years in my life where I heard that song at least a couple times a day.
|
Not really. People just kept saying we were running out of places and it's the first place that popped in my brain. Yeah, I spent the last couple days trying to get that song out of my head.
So, Macgruber, NH? |

|
...that settles it! You must be sitting on or near Nataly Chilet Bustamante, Ms. World Chile 2008...ok, I'm off the hide.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ly_hilet_2.jpg |
WOW. Maybe I'll change my location to where she's at!

are you south of Santiago? |
Thanks Nick, no sleep last night.
Are you in Chile? Is there a small world ride there? I got nothing. BBL |
not in laguna miscanti. south of santiago.
|
Are you west of Route 5?
|
not close enough to route 5 to reference to it im afraid!
|
here's two maps showing Route 5...it runs pretty much the full length of Chile down the middle, but it does jog east/west in spots. So are you west of Rt. 5?
This is a bit of a zoom showing the Rt. 5 marked: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2.../chilehwy5.jpg The thin yellow line running N/S is also Rt. 5 in this map: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ilehwy5exp.jpg |
I am well aware of where the road is. Thanks though! Route 5 runs through 2/3rds of Chile, and I am in that 3rd that it does not. I am south of where 5 ends, so I'm not going to tag an E/W on it. South of Puerto Montt.
|
ahh, now I understand. Thanks for the clue. I still have no idea where you are so I'm trying to narrow down the area.
Are you south of Puerto Bajo Pisagua? |
are you near punta arenas?
|
I am south of Puerto Bajo Pisagua and North of Punta Arenas. We should make a Puerto Bajo/Arenas sammich with me in the middle.
|
with chile peppers
|
I'm completely lost, which as we all know is nothing new. But this "sammich" you speak of is it on rye bread?
|
near lago viedma?
|
are you at Torres del Paine National Park?
...I'm just throwing in some pics since it's so beautiful...no sammich in sight, though :( http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2..._Lake_Peho.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...el_Frances.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2..._Del_Paine.jpg |
You got it! I was at Lake Pehoe which is right next to the Cuernos del Paine in those photos! Nicks up.
|
...where's my sammich! I'll go hide right after lunch
As I was contemplating where to go next, I did find a picture of Sammich Island, but that's not where I am this time: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...islandcopy.gif OK, where in the world am I? |
edinboro, pa?
|
WH, EH.
|
not in edinboro pa or scotland ...unc, I wish I knew if there is a "logical" reason for some of your detailed guesses...damn good guesses, too, though usually wrong.

|

Not Africa, but yes EH and NH.
Mac, I noticed your double guess...just made me wonder if I should call you Big Mac or Double Whopper with Cheese ....+1 for Toto's Africa, nice mellow tune. |

Qumran Caves?
|
the dead sea?
|
you got me unc, you're up, bud.
I was at this spot which is the lowest "dry" spot on the face of the earth...only exceeded in depth by deep ocean rift valleys and that real low depression under Antarctica but that's covered by about 2 miles thick ice (Bentley Subglacial Trench Bentley Subglacial Trench - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ). When I think that the Dead Sea area is over 1500 feet below sea level, it makes me dizzy! Dead Sea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The 'Dead Sea (Hebrew: יָם הַמֶּלַח, Yām Ha-Melaḥ, "Sea of Salt"; Arabic: البَحْر المَيّت, al-Baḥr l-Mayyit, "Dead Sea") is a salt lake between Israel and the West Bank to the west, and Jordan to the east. It is 422 metres (1,385 ft) below sea level, and its shores are the lowest point on the surface of Earth on dry land. The Dead Sea is 378 m (1,240 ft) deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. It is also one of the world's saltiest bodies of water, with 33.7% salinity. Only Lake Assal (Djibouti), Garabogazköl and some hypersaline lakes of the McMurdo Dry Valleys in Antarctica (such as Don Juan Pond and perhaps Lake Vanda) have a higher salinity. It is 8.6 times as salty as the ocean. This salinity makes for a harsh environment where animals cannot flourish, hence its name. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2..._Shankbone.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...point_1971.jpg A tourist (on the Jordanian side) demonstrates the unusual buoyancy caused by high salinity. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2..._newspaper.jpg |
Holy crap! 1291ft below sea level? I had no idea. Wonder if people dive it and if they do how do they calc. out the atmo. bars?
BTW- does that headline read "This Paper is Waterproof!" in Hebrew? |
Tul,
I have to think you're right about the diving technicalities but I don't know the answer...a short story that's close to the Dead Sea but actually in the Red Sea/Suez Canal area, and something you would appreciate since you're a diving expert: a retired Navy diver buddy of mine back years ago, I guess it had to be a couple years after the 1967 war in the Middle East, got a high paying job diving in the Suez & Red Sea and tagging mines...he just had to mark the mine locations with a bouy without blowing himself up so they could be removed later so shipping wouldn't be endangered...back then he was paid like $1000/day and that was real money back then! |
wow, me again?
ok, where am i? |
Cape May, NJ?
|
Punta Gorda, Belize, Central America?
|
Quote:
$1000 a day is real money to me today. Still not sure I'd take that job. Dead men tell no tales and spend no cash. Ok Unc... Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean? |
no, no, and yet again, no...
