Eugene's duck country and I'm a beaver fan personally. |
Oregon, the Beaver State! Tul, are you north of Salem?
btw, thinking I might find a beaver shaped building or something like that, I searched "oregon beaver" and you'd be surprised...or maybe not... at why they call Oregon the beaver state. |

Are you west of Rt 5?
|
Do you mean Route 5?-
http://www.oohva.org/Back%20Country/...MAP%20BCDR.jpg Or I-5?- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...tate_5.svg.png I-5's highlighted in red. Either way, doesn't matter, I'm west. |
I meant I-5...I even wrote I-5 and then changed it to Rt. 5 not knowing there was also a state rt. 5. So is it possible to be at the intersection of 5 & 5? <<<< that's not my game question!
I've searched quite a bit but still can't find an "interesting" building you might be in that is a few miles from a town. I can only narrow down the area: Are you south of Rt. 26? |

Mainly I'm telling you this because my uncle went from unemployed to employed because of the CCC and worked on this highway. But you could make a WWII connection to the building I'm in even though it was built more recently. BTW- you guys better find me today I'm going diving tomorrow, back to Mahahual for a few days then back to Merida for Carnival then I'm off to Belize. Once I get to Belize I should have the Net again but that's going to be a week and half at least. |
Are you at the Tillamook Air Museum? ...if not, maybe I should be living in Idiotville, Oregon
Even though I have my doubts that you're here since the building is not really "recent", I'll post it anyway since it looks like a pretty cool museum: Tillamook Air Museum There are a bunch of cool airplanes at the museum: 1938 Bellanca Air Cruiser P-38 Lightning PBY-5A Catalina F4U-7 Corsair TBM Avenger SBD Dauntless L-29 Delphin A-26 Douglas Invader J2F-6 Duck PV-2 Harpoon AM-1 Martin Mauler Bf-109 Messerschmitt P-51 Mustang P2V-7 Neptune C-47 Skytrain AD-4W Skyraider ERCO ERCOUPE 415-C PT-17 Stearman Boeing 377 Stratocruiser (Mini-Guppy) T-6 Texan FM-2 Wildcat F-14A Tomcat A-7 Corsair II A-4B Skyhawk Fairchild GK-1 Kaman HTK -1 Helicopter Nord 1101 Bell Helicopter Cessna 180 Chris-Teena Mini-Coupe Alien Blimp Quickie homebuilt Ki-43 Oscar Mikoyan-Gurevich Mig 17/Lim-6 http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...%20I/hp221.jpghttp://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...m%20I/AoD2.jpg See one of America's finest collections of over 30 War Birds including our P-38 Lightning, F4U-Corsair, P51-Mustang, PBY Catalina and SBD Dauntless dive bomber. The sections roll on railroad tracks Catwalks: 2 catwalks, each 137 ft. above the hangar deck http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...am%20I/hg5.jpg In 1942, the U.S. Navy began construction of 17 wooden hangars to house the K-class blimps being used for anti-submarine coast patrol and convoy escort. Two of these hangars were built at the Naval Air Station Tilllamook, commissioned in December 1942 to serve the Oregon-Washington coastal area. Construction of the two hangars was rushed to completion. Hangar "B" was the first one built and was completed in the spring of 1943. Hangar "A" which was destroyed in a 1992 fire, was completed in only 30 days. Amazingly, there were no serious injuries or deaths on the whole project. Stationed at NAS Tillamook was Squadron ZP-33 with a complement of eight K-ships. The K-ships were 252 feet long and filled with 425,000 cu. ft. of helium. With a range of 2,000 miles and an ability to stay aloft for three days, they were well suited for coast patrol and convoy escort. Naval Air Station Tillamook was decommissioned in 1948. Since 1994 the remaining hangar has been home to one of the top five privately owned aircraft collections in the nation. |

I'll also say while I'm not there you're on the right track. |
I thought that hangar looked familiar...you posted a pic of it in your post #4579.

Are you in or near Beaverton, Oregon?
|
Quote:
And I'm not in Beaverton but if you consider 35-40 miles close, then I'm close. |
Are you closer to McMinnville?
|
Closer, much closer. Damn near there.
|
just to make sure....Tul, you didn't go back to the Evergreen Aviation Museum, home of the Spruce Goose, did you?
Just asking since that's right near there and girldetective was hiding there back on page 72 of this thread. |

Well you found me, you're up. I'll be gone for a few days. I'll abide whatever punishment the group decides for double back tracking if that's not allowed. Off to pick up friends at the airport. Go hide Nick |
you silly guy...go diving and have fun.
I'll need a few hours to contemplate where in the world we haven't been yet. |
OK, off to dive.
I'll toss out a WH? on my way out the door. |

Hmm, pictures. I only brought my underwater camera and I'm still working out the kinks (AKA can't figure it out yet) Here's a few I took when I was on my way through here to meet up with Phil a few weeks back. Here's where I'm staying- http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3564/...4d3218.jpg?v=0 Everythings falling apart and the door doesn't always lock. But it's got a view of the Caribbean, it's about $40 a night and it's next door to my favorite bar in Playa, Dave's Bad Boy's Bar (no, I didn't name it) Here's a view from the bar "swing"- http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3424/...1f9566.jpg?v=0 And lastly here's a tall ship that showed up the morning I left last time. I have no idea what it is or where it's headed- http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3313/...340836.jpg?v=0 So, not in a state but in the states? Are you a river or bay that is in more then one state? |
a canal?
|
I never said I was in the States, nobody asked that...so I'm not in the U.S.
river, bay, canal are on the right track, but actually a lake...and literally in the lake |
east of the mississippi but not in the US?
|
I see your point, unc. But since the "east of the lady?" question was asked before determining what country or latitude other than "NH", I said "yes". I am at a longitude that is east of the Miss but I'm not in the U.S. Look a tad north.
|
an island with a casino on it in montreal?
|
nope, not any island. As I mentioned above, I'm literally in the water as in wet and covered in water. Remember earlier when I was hiding in the Mariana Trench? ....this is sort of along those lines.
|
ah!!! the grand banks?
|
and so Grand they are, too. But I'm not there. Think fresh water.

bay of fundy, with the quick tides?
|
a little too quick there, unc. Now you're about 1200 miles too far east. < go west, young unc, go west.
|
you've got me totally confused in terms of direction now...
glace bay? |
sorry, unc, somehow you're heading east when I'm trying to tell you to head west.
To summarize: I am west of st lawrence's seaway; about 600 mi. west of lac st. louis; about 1200 miles west of bay of fundy; and about 1400+ miles west of glace bay. So go about 1400 miles west of glace bay and look around there for me. |
the soo locks?
|
ahhh, now your cookin'. I'm about 40 miles N.W. of there...cold and dark :(
|
whitefish bay?
|
Sadly I never made it that far...I'm now where it turns into the open water of Gitche Gumee. I was heading to Whitefish Bay on a prayer but never made it....cold and dark down here.
The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd fifteen more miles behind her. |
batchawana bay?
|
I'm inclined to just give it to you based on "Whitefish Bay" but that's not really what I was hoping somebody would guess. So let's try another clue or so before I spill the beans: I'm the thing laying at the bottom of Gitche Gumee
|

i thought about that boat three or four times ago... |
see unc, you should have confidence in your intuition....yes, I'm the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
