BadNick 04-14-2009 05:08 PM

agreed, "grunt" sounds like more of a military word than a bacon word, especially now that I had some sausage for dinner

So not Bermuda, or Bimini.

Tully Mars 04-14-2009 06:43 PM

Within 400 miles of the US coast?

BadNick 04-14-2009 06:49 PM

yes, within 400 mi.

uncle phil 04-15-2009 02:38 AM

nassau?

coldhands 04-15-2009 03:36 AM

Ja makin me crazy

BadNick 04-15-2009 03:40 AM

not Nassau, but in the Bahamas. I'm at a specific place that is of unusual geologic and visual interest.

Jahmaka nah.

coldhands 04-15-2009 03:44 AM

Are U on Montserrat at the Soufriere Hills volcano?

uncle phil 04-15-2009 03:47 AM

san salvador, home of columbus' first stop?

Tully Mars 04-15-2009 04:21 AM

Are you south of 40?

BadNick 04-15-2009 06:32 AM

coldhands, Montserrat is not in the Bahamas.

unc, not San Salvadore...this is a natural geologic feature, not a town/city/building or other man-made thing.

Tul, all of the Bahamas are south of the 40. In fact, the Bahamas are all south of the 30.

coldhands 04-15-2009 07:09 AM

How about the Great Bahama Bank (and I don't mean a savings and loan)?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...009.jpg/600px-

Tully Mars 04-15-2009 07:42 AM

Opps, missed where you said you were in Bahamas.

Let me think...

uncle phil 04-15-2009 08:16 AM

inagua national park on great inagua?

BadNick 04-15-2009 10:30 AM

not inagua, not let me think

but coldhands, while I'm not at the Great Bahama Bank, where I am is in the photo you posted...I'm waving "hello" but you probably can't see me since I'm so small

uncle phil 04-15-2009 10:44 AM

the third-longest barrier reef in the world, off andros island?

BadNick 04-15-2009 11:18 AM

nope, but that is a fantastic natural wonder...man, I love the Bahamas!

Where I am is on Eleuthera.

uncle phil 04-15-2009 11:33 AM

preachers cave?

BadNick 04-15-2009 12:46 PM

never heard of that one, but I know I'm not there...head a little more south...probably less than 10 miles

uncle phil 04-15-2009 01:06 PM

ocean hole, in rock sound?

http://www.eleuthera.com/oceanhole.html

Tully Mars 04-15-2009 01:34 PM

You are on land, right?

BadNick 04-15-2009 05:05 PM

Not ocean hole, and yes I am on land. unc, in that link you posted above it mentions and shows the place where I am.

uncle phil 04-16-2009 02:12 AM

that little green shack?

Tully Mars 04-16-2009 03:23 AM

Spanish Wells?

BadNick 04-16-2009 03:32 AM

Not the green shack, not Spanish Wells which is on the north end of the island. As I said, I'm ~10 miles south of unc's previous guess of Ocean Hole.

Tully Mars 04-16-2009 03:46 AM

Having trouble having a decent map...

Windermere Island?

uncle phil 04-16-2009 03:49 AM

harbour island?

BadNick 04-16-2009 06:32 AM

not one of the little out islands...though my friend has a gorgeous place on Harbour Island that I've been to and aspire to retire there...if only he'd see it my way ;)

I'm on the main part of Eleuthera Island. I'll throw out another clue to give you a window into my devious mind:

uncle phil 04-16-2009 06:42 AM

hatchet bay caves?

BadNick 04-16-2009 06:46 AM

not in any cave or hole and I'm standing on dry land but I can see water to the left of me and water to the right of me. I did give you a pretty damn good clue above.

uncle phil 04-16-2009 07:58 AM

glass window bridge?

http://www.eleuthera.com/glasswindow.html

BadNick 04-16-2009 10:35 AM

BINGO! so you're up, unc.

I believe that the Glass Window is actually the only place where the Atlantic coast continental shelf reaches up on to dry land from the ocean. That little land strip is actually the top of the continental shelf.

I remember standing there on that narrow strip of land with the continental shelf dropping off into the Atlantic Ocean on the one side to many thousands of feet, and the turquoise blue/green bay/reef on the other side...and it was such a cool sight and feeling. Even the thought of falling into the ocean side gave me a touch of vertigo and I think I was leaning toward the shallow side the whole time.

quite coincidental that I just finshed watching a special about horses; mini-horses to be exact, but it looked to be just as entertaining a Mountie atop a regular-sized horse, to see the cute-as-buttons mini-horses galloping around.

BadNick 04-20-2009 06:31 AM

NH?

Jetée, I was at a local tuner shop's "dyno day" on Saturday and somebody asked me how much horsepower my car has so I said "1000!" ...and then I qualified that by pointing out I was using those mini horses as my metric.
