God of Thunder 06-03-2004 07:45 AM

Wow, you did dig deep!!!

I believe they were Red and Black. I'm not entireley sure, but I do know another tidbit about that audition. If I am correct, I'll follow up with it.

Sion 06-03-2004 09:13 AM

you got one of the two correct. if this goes on long enough to get close to stumper status, I'll call it close enough. but lets give some others a chance first, 'k?

God of Thunder 06-03-2004 09:26 AM

sounds like a plan to me

Booray 06-03-2004 12:04 PM

No clue, but I'll guess red and blue

Sion 06-03-2004 07:50 PM

Booray, you also got one of the two correct.

edit: you also mis-spelled inebriated in your signature. just thought you might want to correct that.

Booray 06-04-2004 03:57 AM

doh! thanks. I copied and pasted it from somewhere. I guess I'll let someone else guess using the info from the last two guesses

GuttersnipeXL 06-04-2004 08:01 AM

OK, lets try black and blue!

Sion 06-04-2004 08:25 AM

ok, so this have reached official stumper status. as per agreement above, I'm giving GoT credit for a correct answer and its his turn.

the correct answer, according to the article I read, was one red, one orange sneaker.

God of Thunder 06-04-2004 01:00 PM

Well, as promised I will ask the follow up about the same audition.

As the story goes, Ace walked into the audition with one red and one orange sneaker (Thanks Sion) and plugged in his guitar into the amp of the person who was auditioning at the time. This person later came into play in two different times. Once was during the studio sessions for Alive II, I won't give away the other...yet.

Who was the person rudely interrupted by Ace?

KWSN 06-04-2004 09:11 PM

i've heard this story before and if i remember correctly, it was rick derringer.

God of Thunder 06-05-2004 05:12 AM

Nope, Rick was rumored to have played on the studio side of Alive II, but never performed with KISS until the guitar solo of "Exciter" on the "Lick it Up" album.

The next clue is this person's brother had a big time connection to the band during the non-makeup years.

God of Thunder 06-05-2004 06:38 PM

Looks like it was a stumper.

The guitarist that Ace frehley interrupted was Bob Kulick, older brother of Bruce.

Bob played on 4 of the 5 studio tracks on the 4th side of Alive II. Bob was asked to join later on when they were going through problems, but he had other things going on and later recommend his brother instead.

New question.

Which members of Lynyrd Skynyrd perished in the October 1977 plane crash?

KWSN 06-06-2004 06:46 AM

Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. I'm not sure if there were any other actual band members but I think Steve Gaines' sister did too.

Booray 06-06-2004 07:43 AM

that's right. I believe her name was Cassie. She was a backup singer

KWSN 06-06-2004 09:44 AM

well presuming that I'm right I'll put the next question up...

Allen Ginsberg would appear on stage during some of what band's shows?

God of Thunder 06-06-2004 04:17 PM

Yes, you are correct KWSN.

And Booray was also correct, her name was Cassie.

GuttersnipeXL 06-06-2004 04:33 PM

Ginsberg on stage with....Jefferson Airplane??

Booray 06-06-2004 04:38 PM

That's what my guess would be. Since it's already been made, I'll guess the Dead (although I think that's probably wrong; just can't think of a better guess).

KWSN 06-07-2004 11:50 AM

Nope.

Think punk.

perripken 06-07-2004 12:08 PM

Ramones?

choskins 06-07-2004 12:22 PM

The Clash!

Your go, choskins.

choskins 06-07-2004 05:31 PM

Alright, here we go:

Who said, "I'm no linguist, but I believe Warren Zevon may be the only man in the history of human communication to use the word brucellosis in a song."

QuasiMojo 06-07-2004 05:39 PM

hmmm...Hunter S. Thompson?
maybe Dave Letterman....

KWSN 06-07-2004 05:53 PM

I'm a big Zevon fan so I know that this one is David Letterman.

But you didnt get a real chance so you can go again.

choskins 06-07-2004 06:18 PM

Yes, David Letterman.

And I am a huge Zevon fan as well. I am glad to be here.

God of Thunder 06-08-2004 03:37 AM

Glad to have you here. It's nice to see some rookies asking questions in here.

KWSN has given you another go, so ask away:thumbsup:

perripken 06-08-2004 03:46 AM

Yes, welcome. We don't get a whole lot of Warren Zevon questions here, and I have to admit I never owned any of his albums, but man.... that Werewolves of London is an awesome tune! I guess one of these days I should buy a CD. Is there a greatest hits out?

choskins 06-08-2004 06:44 AM

Perripken, Zevon has had several GH albums. My favorite is Learning to Flinch, which is a single CD, live album spanning his entire career. But he has had several Anthology, multi-CD packages. Thanks for the second go.

What group's debut album, featured a robot raping a woman on it's cover (although soon replaced)?

God of Thunder 06-08-2004 07:09 AM

That would be the cover of Guns 'n' Roses' "Appetite for Destruction"

Lets switch gears a little and talk about John Fogerty. Now, I'm not a fan of him or CCR, but this is the one tidbit I do know about them.

John was sued for plagarizing the opening lick for his solo single "The Old Man Down the Road"

Who sued him and what song did they accuse him of plagarizing?

perripken 06-08-2004 07:32 AM

Man... I used to know this. I think it may even be in the liner notes in my "Centerfield" album which is in the dusty corner of one of my closets. I know there is a song on the CD that mentions the guys name and basically disses him. If nobody gets it by tomorrow morning, I might have to search for that album!

God of Thunder 06-08-2004 07:37 AM

It's easier than you think.

KWSN 06-08-2004 11:27 AM

I think that the band sued him for plaigarizing Run Through the Jungle

verify that please

(the band being CCR)

God of Thunder 06-08-2004 01:30 PM

Yup, he was essenmtially sued for plagarizing himself, because he wrote both tunes. The band just wanted a piece of it.

John eventually won when the judge decided it was not illegal to steal from yourself. (well duuuuhhhh!)

perripken 06-08-2004 01:45 PM

GOT... I think the guys name was Vance or something like that. The song is coming back to me. It was on the Centerfield album and it went something like Vance can't dance, but he'll steal your money... something like that. I know the name rhymes with dance, but I'm not sure if it's Vance. Let me know if I'm right!

KWSN 06-08-2004 02:30 PM

Well in that case I suppose I'll go... dunno if this one is too easy...

According to legend, who was an honorary pallbearer at Ronnie Van Zant's funeral?

God of Thunder 06-08-2004 05:40 PM

Perripken, I'm not sure who it was that sued Fogerty, just that it was his old record label. They wanted a piece of the action since he originally recorded it with them. They felt it was "their" song.

Are you referring to Neil Young?

perripken 06-08-2004 05:51 PM

I'll try to dig out the album in the next couple days and see what I can find.

Booray 06-08-2004 05:59 PM
