4/5 Crazy film. So much going on but it all works together. Plus all of the added value featurettes are fun to watch on the DVD too.

You have to have patience to watch this movie.. Here's the deal, They took 10 minutes of character development and added 1 hour and 30 minutes of dead air... They just filmed stuff WAY too long.. There's easily 10 minutes of filming Casey and Ben's faces as they walked through the desert with no cutaways. I literally thought my dvd player froze up more than once on insanely long still shots. If you want a "lost in desert" movie, get Walkabout. If you want a short film with an hour+ desert landscape photographs enbedded and you have the patience of saint, then you might consider this film

I'm about 3/4 of the way through "Haggard" it's an independant film done by the guys from cKy, if you like cKy you'll love this movie. it's more or less an hour long with an extra 30 minutes of skating and random stuff thrown in the mix. Granted it won't win any awards, but it's hilarious and is a definate time killer where afterwards you don't want your time back.

All the way around, I thought this movie was incredible. Like a live-action fairy tale. It was beautifully written, well acted, and carried out with style. Definate recommend.

There aren't many movies that deserve 5/5 IMO because if they all were then they'd also all be average. I hold 5/5's for 1-3 of my favorite movies. 4/5 is amazing and might only be lacking 5/5 because of personal taste, even though I might know it's a great movie.
Here's a reflection of how I liked the movies and some quotes I liked: -Momento- 4/5 "Where am I? Ok, it looks like I'm chasing this man....whoops, he's chasing me" :P -Cabin Fever-1/5 but it kept me laughing! Especially "What's the gun for?" "It's for the Nxxxxx's" -Sector 9- 1.5/5 I just loved the kids mullet -The Cell- 4.5/5 I'm so absolutely in love with the visuals that I can easily cope with the shitty acting. -Indiana Jones 3- 5/5, of course. "Aah, Venice." I was sure to say this outloud when I was in Venice in October -City of the Lost Children- 4/5 Again, I love the visuals and the surreal story.

Finally watched "This is Spinal Tap" this movie was a satire and that's it's only saving grace. Had this been an actual serious documentary it would have gotten 2/10, but based it being a satire it is very well put together and makes you believe you are following a band at the end of its career, on the whole I give it 7/10

ok, so i finally saw Underworld.
what a complete and utter pile of SHIT. i want my money back. its been a while since i've seen a film quite this bad. worst bit... the 'mongrel' scott speedman turned into... and the stupidly insane death of Bill Nighy. now, i love Kate Beckinsale, and i love Bill Nighy, but they couldn't even save this shithouse film. 1/5 (and that mark is only for the sexy outfit!)

Gremlins 2 - it had been so long I had forgotten how goofy this movie really is. With various scenes that make you want to cover your eyes in embarrassment for warner brothers. they slipped a bunch of well known actors gave them small roles that ultimately had nothing to do with the movie. There is one part the gremlins actually attack the movie itself and the theater owner calls in Hulk Hogan to yell at the Gremlins, then he apologizes to the watchers saying it won't ever happen again. Granted it was unique but they could only have gotten away with it back in 1990. overall I give it a 5/10. this is because they spend more time building up the individual gremlins and kind of give the plot a backseat on this one.

before sunrise (dvd) i saw this movie in a sneak preview when it was first released. i was single at the time and i remember thinking this was a great lovestory. and i wished someday i would live such an experience.
Today , 9 years later, i have had the chance to live such a romance twice (met a (belgian) girl while travelling in asia) and had a similar experience when i met my wife in latin america. the movie is 'all talk' but the chemistry between the leads is excellent & the dialogues are some of the best ever brought to screen. With valentine's day drawing closer do your s.o. a favour and watch the movie together. 9/10

'The Butterfly Effect' - 9/10 here. I didn't know what to think when I first saw Ashton Kutcher in a non-comedic role, but wow. This movie was really good I think. One of the best movies I've seen in awhile. I'll probably pick up the Dvd when it is released.

"50 First Dates" - I think that I'd give it a 7/10. A sweet movie, that has quite a few laugh out loud parts. The ending isn't very typical, and I didn't like it at first, but after I thought about it for a minute or two, I thought it was a good way to end the movie. A chick flick for sure, but I recommend it for any couples looking for a funny/sweet flick to see.

Welcome to Collinwood
For what it is, It's good. It has two of my favorite actors, Michael Jeter, and William H. Macy in it which only made it better. It's not perfect so don't go in expecting it to be. I give it an average 5/10.

It had it's funny moments, but over all, the protagonist is an asshole and you really don't want to see him succeed. The guys on heroin trying to operate a tank was genius, though.

Along Came Polly- 7+/10 It was quite good actually. Ben Stiller is still running along just fine since things like Zoolander. I'd say that Meet the Parents was his worst, then Along Came Polly. When I say worst, I mean that they were all good but in terms of being my least favorite behind films like Tennenbaums and Zoolander. Intolerable Cruelty- 8.5/10 Very good movie! It came out when I was in London for a semester and I was really confused to see the Coen brothers, who I love, making a romantic movie. I figured I'd see it sooner or or later so I skipped it in the theater. The humor was totally Coen-like. Very subtle. Jones and Clooney were both good, Clooney having his same O'Brother acting humor. The story was good too. After seeing Lost in Translation and the ending of Mistic River, I don't see why this movie wasn't at least nominated for best picture. I'm not saying that it is generally best picture material, but compared to other recent films, it was very well rounded, had a good story, was funny throughout, and didn't have a shitty ending. I don't need a climax (as seen in Lost In Translation) but I feel movies recently only touch on some good ideas and humor and don't carry the weight throughout. This film did so very well. Didn't take on more than it could carry and executed it perfectly.

just bought the DVD of Battle Royale.
i loved this film in the cinemas. and was absolutely shocked to see it sitting there on the local dvd shop's back shelf. absolutely love the way this film is structured. with the countdown of surviving students... and the roll call as they die. great. being a huge BEAT Takeshi fan, its great to see him as his usual calm and intense presence. wonder how long i'll have to wait to see the sequal. 5/5

borrowed the projector from the office this weekend :
brother : i hadn't seen it yet and i liked it. the story flows a little too fast but still good movie. 7/10 le velo de ghislain lambert : a comedy about cycling. the main actor is benoit poelvoorde, the leading man from 'man bites dog'. he is a very funny actor. great movie, only slightly too long. 8/10 the hulk : second time i watched it and i liked it more than the first time, great visual style and the mix drama/action is ok for me. 7/10 american pie : 2nd time i saw this, and it still makes me laugh, it's not Shakespeare but hey, even Ebert likes it :-) 7/10 harry potter and chamber of secrets : ideal movie to watch at 11 pm on a sunday night, to hold the magic of the weekend a little longer before returning to the stressed workweek. 8/10 if the gods of dvd-delivery are with me, i'll have the chance to see visitor Q tonight !!

City of God- 8.5/10
Good story. Great cinematography. I had a few questions of "why" throughout the movie in terms of why some characters did certain things. But it is definitely one of the better movie's I've seen lately. --(spoilers)-- Mystic River- 8.5/10 Again, good story. Directing was pretty good. The acting is what gets my votes. Tim Robbins was amazing. Didn't try too hard, but played a shocking character. The only think keeping the movie from a "9" IMO is the absolutely uncalled for ending. I really feel like Kevin Bacon's character would have turned in Sean Penn. Cmon now, he *did* unjustly kill someone, let alone one of their longtime friends. Friend or not, Bacon seemed to go by the law. I truly don't think his character would have let the murder slide. The "gunshot" with his hand to Penn was pretty...out of place and not funny...if you ask me

7/10 -- not a bad movie... rather a mockumentary of a folk-music festival designed at paying homage to a deceased producer. Some great characters, and some superb acting. Actually, the music wasn't bad, either. Still, the movie moved a little slow. I'll have to rent Best In Show to see if this was similar, being by the same creators. |

3/5. Some of the acting was not all that great, and there could have been more to the story. Nevertheless I enjoyed it.

what a fantastic film. this is easily Connelly's best performance. and as for Ben Kingsley, well, this is just par for the course, since everything he does is magnificent. no, i think that last comment is not enough... Kingsley is phenomenal. this film is intense, powerful and a sheer delight to experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - 5/5.

Jesus' Son- 8/10
Pretty cool movie for one that I've never hear of before. My bud's went to Blockbuster, told them they like Donnie Darko (they just saw it for the first time), and they recomended this film. It's the same in that it's based on one guy and his (sometimes odd) narration as he goes through pretty minimal of experiences through life but looks at them in pretty cool of ways. Check it out.
