Saw Paycheck last night at the cheap movie theater with a bunch of friends.
3/10 - Only because my friend and I are going to school to be engineers, so the fact that Ben Affleck was a badass engineer who got to kick ass with a bigass stick was hilarious. Other than that, the movie was a complete waste of time - very, very predictable. |

I had heard that Paycheck was supposed to be good. It was written by Phillip K. Dick back in the day, the same guy who wrote Blade Runner and other sci-fi novels.

Saw Beowulf with Christopher Lambert
It had some terrible acting, a playboy playmate who was topless the entire movie, and the original Lara Croft model. I give it a 4/10 for unintentional humor content. It would have gotter a 5 out of 10, but they didn't actually show any breasts. In terms of being a work of film, it's definitely a 2/10. |

peppermint candy : wonderfull movie. 9/10. korean movie , starts at the end (the same way as memento & irreversible) and then tracks back to find what lead to the end. about the things we lose while advancing trough life. very touching.
irreversible : also a movie that starts at the end and then tracks back. contains 2 very graphic scenes and will shock u. but beneath the shock there are good performances by the actors and a powerfull message. 7/10 visitor q : 'Miike takashi'-shot on video movie that contains the usual crazyness. not his best work. 6.5/10 armageddon : popcorn-movie that is very enjoyable untill they leave the russian spacestation, then it goes ridicoulus. 5/10 the rock : more Bay crazyness. 6/10 . bad boys 2 : got bad critics here, but i enjoyed it a lott. 7/10 gothika : flawed movie. Hale Berry is very good though. got athmosphe but lacks story & logic. 6/10

American Wedding. Not a comedy fan really, I usually stick to horror/sci-fi/fantasy movies, but this one made me laugh. Alot. 8/10.

The Passion of the Christ - (category: drama) [rating: 4/10]
The highlights of this film were the sets, music, visual effects, and the acting by a few of the main characters (Jesus, Mary, Pilate). Unfortunately, I think the film lacked some in quality. The story itself, surprisingly, had my friend lost somewhat. He knew the basic story, but he mentioned that the film didn't tell who some of the characters were, etc. I also thought it wasn't very good fiction, and the back story could have been more detailed to make me better understand the true motivation of Jesus was. I'm writing this as though I had no idea what Christianity is, and think that's a good way to judge the storytelling aspects of "The Passion". The movie really left me shockingly unmoved, mostly because I got bored of the pacing. I think Gibson overused slow motion here. The ending was also disappointingly drab. Simpy put, the book's better. |

Expect more of the same from the original Barbershop, except this time without the use of the "n-word".

rosemary's baby : A movie that doesn't seem to age. I was surprised it survives multiple viewings over several years. (8/10)
Ju-On (the Grudge) : I was a little dissapointed by this movie. I hoped it to be great japanese horror (like the ring , pulse , dark water ...) but i didn't think it was very scary. if u want to see a scary movie look for "tale of two sisters". that was way better. 5/10 Monster Inc. : great pixar entertainment (7/10) Repo Man : funny 80ies chaos. Alex Cox was one of my favourites directors for a long time. it's a pitty he never had the chance to direct "fear and loathing in las vegas". 7/10

Lost in Translation
I really enjoyed it, but wouldn't have picked it over ROTK for best picture. I thought that the pace and lack of forwarding action was perfect, as it's a movie about people disenchanted with life, stuck in a foreign country with nothing to do. I'm glad I didn't listen to the people who said this movie was boring. I had a great experience. 7/10

Donnie Dark0 - 9/10 - Do I need to say anything more about it?
House of the Dead - 1/10 - The tragic thing is that having seen both this and The Hulk in the same year means that one of those movies will not be the worst movie that I saw last year... Why the hell did he cut the video game into the movie as if it were part of the film? Why? WHY? |

Pink Floyd- The Wall. I just got a new dvd player and picked up the wall along with it.
Thought it would be cool to have on dvd. Its been ages since I watched it and I thought maybe I could follow it better now that I'm not in a perennial state of altered consciousness. No such luck though. Still couldn't follow the plot, but the music and the animations are still superb. Overall I liked it a lot, but you kind of need to be into the music or just stoned out of your mind I guess.

The Missing: I like Westerns, so this gets points for that, but the whole movie just seemed kinda disjointed, like it hadnt been planned out well. 6/10.

tears of the sun : a good concept brutally murdered. fake movie, bad acting, worst soundtrack. the worst movie i have seen this year. worse than 'the core' and 'gothika' even. nice camerawork, but it's lost.
4/10

Mona Lisa Smile last night on DVD...it was okay. I expected it to be Dead Poet's Society with chicks, but it didn't really measure up...I think the most I got out of it was being glad I was born in the 80s 5/10.

Since Im home on Spring Break I decided to take my little brother to a movie. He picked this one. It was entertaining, though a little less than great. A good adventure, and for what it set out to do, it succeeds. Not a great movie by any stretch--it felt disjointed in parts, and some parts felt pointless, but I had a good time. 7.5/10.

finished watching cowboy bebop the movie (knocking on heaven's door)
4/5 or 8/10 depending on who's scale is being used. the animation was spectacular but it was overall just a longer episode.

Been a while since I've posted in this thread. I've seen plenty of movies, just haven't had the energy to rate them. However, I just finished watching American Splendor and had to comment on it. I can't quite place what I really liked about this movie, but it was very entertaining. It was funny when it needed to be, and it was serious when it needed to be. The comic book style was very fitting for the subject, and it was cool actually being able to see the people the characters were based on.
I'm definately going to watch this one again before I have to return it to the rental store.

Just got back from seeing it tonight, great film. David Mamet does a great job with dialogue and making a generally very intelligent film yet again. Like many of his films, surprises abound, which add to the fun. 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. |

i saw phone booth last night,
i never thought to watch it when it was in theaters, but it was the onlything that looked decent at the video store. well it was good, the hookers are anoying but beyond that it is an excelent movie, a bit short (under 90 min) but the time fits the movie fine. 9.5/10

the tesseract : oxide pang directs a garland screenplay to his own novel. very stylish but with flawed narrative flow. still good . 6.5/10
immortal : Erik Bilal directed a story from his own comic-books. Again great visuals but here the actors seem to be lost in a world of blue screens (George Lucas-itis). but the comicbook like visuals make it worth a look. 6/10 alexandra's project nice movie by Rolf de Heer about a man getting his birthday-gift of a lifetime. low budget, but good acting. could have been edited a little. some parts drag a little. 7/10 the touch I was warned by bad reviews on the internet, but it was even worse. 4/10 bowling for columbine (DVD) , touching movie that makes you think about stereotypes and society. 7/10 dog soldiers (DVD) funny horror movie that winks excessively to other movies. 7/10 frequency(DVD) : nice movie if u don't mind bad time travelling logic. 7/10 my little eye (dvd) : not perfect , but still interresting twist on the "big brother" format. 6/10 el crimen de padre amaro : (dvd) nice movie , touching story, great acting, 7/10
