As all the characters gather and settle into their roles on the sides of good and evil, I see two wild cards in play here. One is the curious relationship between the "good" cheerleader and her "evil" father, and the other is Nikki. Both hang in the balance, and the final outcome will hinge on their loyalties.

Nikki reminds me of The Hulk. Except that Bruce knows when he's about to change, and has some control over it. Where as Nikki hasn't even an inkling as to when her other half will show herself. And until the last episode, did realize it was "her" the whole time.
I'm gonna miss those scenes where Nikki blacks out and finds herself in a different location, and having changed her clothes

At least we found out Mikkah has a super power, which I think is the power to fix electronics, right? I mean, it would make sense for him to get a super power because his mom has incredible speed and his father can go through objects.
I don't know why Claire's brother was freaking out about her super power. I would think it would be awesome to know someone related to me has super-powers. |

I wonder if Mikkah's power is more flexible, in that he can "manipulate" electricity and electronics in general. ie. jam signals, defuse bombs, fuzz out security cams, and so on. Maybe he can even act as a conduit for high voltage. That would be cool!

Well, technically, Claire and her brother aren't related. She's adopted Also, looks like we have an actual RadioactiveMan. Too bad he's in the slammer.

Man, tonight's episode was JAM PACKED! I thought we had to be getting close to the end of the episode--and I checked the time to find it was only 9:35!
So many revelations! Perhaps Horn Rim Man isn't evil? Certainly he's conflicted, and willing to do nasty things to further his goals. Hiro's gone back to cute memory girl's birthday!? He was only supposed to go back one day. And where did he end up? No Niki, DL, Mikah. Sort of a relief--I was a little bored with that story line, but now that I've missed them for a week, I'm ready for Jessica to come in there guns a blazing next week. Think DL can morph himself around a speeding bullet? No Flying Petrelli Brothers, either! This whole episode focussed on Matt, Isaac and Hiro. This may be a good sign for the show; I've been concerned that the pace of revelation and character-meeting might be too fast to be sustainable through the entire season. If they start zeroing in on certain characters for certain episodes, it's a way to slow down the narrative pace without dampening the excitement of the show. |

Excellent episode, you guys above me said it best, it really changed the mix a lot. I hope we see lots more of cute memory girl, she's a sweety. Horned rimmed glasses a good guy? wow. Even pixie haired girl is good. Whats the backstory with her though, what does HRG have on her and what did she whisper to Isaac to get him to shoot up?
What did he paint? I like that they switched up the storytelling so it focussed only on a couple of characters, they should do that every week.

I wonder if persuasion is Pixie-Haired girl's superpower?
I wonder if horn-rimmed dad will become Charlie to the Hero's Angels once they all come together and stop Syler. I wonder if we've already met the mysterious Syler, and his true identity will be a shocking plot twist. I wonder if the Haitian dude is the same as the Horn-Rimmed Dad's mind wiping sidekick. I wonder if Hiro is fated to fail at saving Memory Girl's Life, no matter how many times he tries. Powerful stuff if they have a blooming romance in the past. I found it curious that he was off camera in the Bathroom during her death. I wonder if I should pay more attention to how and when I use Hyphens. Great episode!

He didn't come back to his starting point in space/time. That might mean he dies in his mission to save the girl (unlikely, since we know he makes it to some future in which he speaks decent English and carries a sword). That might mean he's unable to come back to that specific time for some reason--either his awkwardness with his powers, or something about that time (or about Syler?) that prevents him coming back to it. It also could be that he causes a rift by going back to save the girl. He mentioned "risking causing a rift" during his visit from the future in the subway. Maybe he causes a rift and can't get back to where he started from. Maybe this is where he learns about rifts. What if he's in an alternate timeline from now on? What if he's stuck there? That would fit the comic book ethos of the show--an "Infinite Earths" homage. He didn't look entirely happy in the birthday photo. Last edited by ratbastid; 11-14-2006 at 06:49 AM.. What if Hiro is really Silar? His future self carries a sword. Silar's victims have had their heads sliced open.
He has the power to time travel so he could find out what peoples powers were and come back to when convenient and kill them. He can stop time so he could slice the heads open while time stands still, she died pretty instantly. She was opening a can one second, and bam, suddenly the top of her heads gone. This could be a huge plot twist that is not really inconsistant with the stuff they've done so far.....

The problem with that is that Hiro and Sylar were in the same diner. It also "appears" that Sylar is taller (hard to tell though) and caucasian. Plus it doesn't seem to jibe with Hiro's hero persona. Also Sylar has crazy power: telekinesis at the very least.
The implication so far seems to be that Sylar is Uluru or at least they are in cahoots. The Haitian IS the mind eraser, the associate of Horned Rim Glasses guy (HRG). Radiation man, Ted, did indeed escape while being transported by the Homeland Security guys, no doubt we will see him again. It does appear that Eden's ability is "powers of persuasion" and that somehow, HRG saved her so she feels like she owes him a debt of gratitude. Mohinder has a sister who was "very special" who died when she was 5. This could be the catalyst for Chandra Suresh's research and theories. It is also possible that Mohinder may have some special ability as well. The next episode will be critical: save the cheerleader, save the world. My guess is that next episode will be centered in Texas (I didn't see any previews for next week, the TIVO cut it off). The clues are in the paintings. I suspect Peter will make an appearance and will have a showdown with Sylar. I think the painting with the flying lockers/locker doors will be Peter using Sylar's power of telekinesis in a fight with him. Hiro and Ando will probably show up after the fact due to the glitch that Hiro experiences in his time bending to save the red-head (memory girl). I also think Jessica/Niki will make a showing - the shadow in the painitng could be her - with the claws. I'm really digging this series too. There are all sorts of angles and themes, clues and stuff to drive yourself nuts over. Can't wait 'til net Monday!!! |

I think the show also directly hinted that to us that Sylar is from the future. The fact that the show focused on his stopped watch twice, and that we hear a pretty loud ticking clock sound when we first see him in the diner seems like a good indication that he has something to do with time.
My initial thought is that "7 minutes to midnight" (the name of the episode, and the time on Sylar's watch) was referring to the time that the nuclear blast happens.... but that might not jive with the future that Hiro was a part of, so who knows. And the fact that they're keeping Sylar's face hidden seems like a signal that we've met him before, as another character... but I don't think it's Hiro. Here's a screencap for reference: Tough call. Definitely caucasion... Peter seems like the only real choice, i guess. This show has me hooked. worst part of the episode: the scene where HRG and Persuado-Girl argued. their powers suddenly switched to overacting.

Peter? Hmmmm...that would be quite the turn of events. Ha, I also thought that was a bad scene. I couldn't quite put my finger on it last night but yeah, you hit it on the head: overacting. Or bad directing/writing. Luckily, it didn't ruin the show. I guess we all need to go to a "Heroes" clinic while suffering from withdrawals |

If Hirio saves the waitress from death, then he cannot go back to the diner because the waitress in that event was killed and if he brings back the waitress alive to the same event, then the entire time/space continuum might create chaos for Earth.

Are we sure that the guy at the table was Silar? Maybe it was just another Hero watching what was going down. The girl didnt die untill Hiro left the room to go to the bathroom so technically Silar and Hiro weren't in the same room, so it might still be him?

Consider: So far, it is appears Sylar possess the power of telekinesis (based on previous episodes). In the diner, we see him "pull" the mug to his hand with telekinesis (or the force). As an establishing shot, I presume this is the way that the TV producers let the audience know that the character is Sylar. Other similarities abound such as the hat, pervasive shadow across the face. The trend of these shots imply Sylar (but yeah, it is definitely possible that it's not and that this is a red herring designed to fool the viewer). |

I interpret the painting as taking place at Claire Bennet's high school in Odessa, TX during their homecoming. In that painting, it appears Peter is "throwing" lockers or locker doors at something (or vice versa). So far, it appears Peter may have the power or ability of adaptation: that is, he is able to take on the powers of others in his proximity (ref: flying, painting). So, following that theory, then there is a strong suggestion that Peter is using Sylar's telekensis in a showdown with him at the school. The only other one who may have a chance at Sylar is Niki/Jessica. In one of the paintings, Claire is in the stadium (?)/outdoor arena(?)auditorium looking scared holding her hands up. In the corner is a shadow of a figure (with sharp claws. The figure could very well be Niki/Jessica. We have not seen Jessica in action but we do know that she literally tears people apart. It could be possible that Niki, when she releases Jessica, Jessica possesses some sort of ability to morph into that killing machine creature with the claws. If you look carefully, in one of the 9th Wonders Comics (the feature of the show and the comic that Isaac creates; Hiro also reads this comic)that Micah is reading, that same shadowy figure is on the cover (2 epsiodes back?). Remember, Isaac paints/draws the future so his comics also possess the same quality (think the Hiro storyline played out in the comic book). Other than that, I got nothing. Quote:

Info about Sylar:
Spoiler: The cast list for Heroes on IMDB says that Sean Bean plays Sylar. Sylar's first name is Paul. By FAR, Peter Petrilli has the best power out of all the characters. If you get Nikki/Jessica, DL, Claire, Hiro, Nathan, and Sylar together, Peter is basically is a god. Powers: - super-strength, from Nikki/Jessica - phasing through matter, from DL - immortality, from Claire - teleportation and time-stopping, from Hiro - flying (and evidently, super-speed) from Nathan - telekinesis (and any unknown powers) from Sylar He's a god, I tell you.
