PROTEINS - VERY IMPORTANT

How many of you gyus use proteins. Is it good to take proteins when working out or its better to work out without proteins?...Which proteins are the best? i heard Optimum 100% Whey are the best. are they really? And also should the proteins be taken just after the workout or everyday. I just started to workout so i am wondering if i should work out for a little bit and then after 2-3 months buy "Proteins for building muscle mass" or start using them right away?..lets see ur answers...thank you ALL!!! this is the best forum ever!

You MUST consume enough protein EVERYDAY. I suggest you consume a gram for every pound you weigh (I.e 200lbs - 200g protein). You should also look into buying protein bars as well for when you are on the go. It is of course always better to eat real food packed with protein, (tuna, cottage cheese, chicken breast) but when you can not, carry around a shake or bar. One thing to remember is, do not consume more than 40 grams at once either, otherwise it will be wasted. Try to consume no more than every 3 hours. Make sure you also have some directly after your workout.

Rdr4evr has the right idea. The most important times of the day to get protein are right after a workout, when your muscles are at their most broken down and right before bed when your body does most of its repair work.

There's no "limit" to how much protein you can consume at a time. Everyones body is different.

It's the old saying 1 gram of protein per 1 pound. You can go a little over but too much will cause you to gain bad weight(fat).
And don't forget, don't cut out all the carbs. You need some of them.

Again, no. If you, theoretically, ate strictly protein with zero fat and zero carbs, and you only ate 1 gram of protein per pound..you would lose weight.

See, these numbers and ratios you're trying to use don't work. Each person is different, and needs to do the research for themselves, as well as experimentation, to find out how much you should be eating.

Well

Well i am only 60 kgs so does that mean i should take proteins or shouldnt...dont proteins make you weight more...or do u lose weight when eating proteins??????...i want to get some more weight , NOT FAT, but muscle mass and i think thats done by doing workout and eating proteins....what do u think???..........

Workout + Proteins = muscle mass
Proteins Alone = fat

isnt it like this???? and i also heard whey proteins are the best, are they???

and should i take 100% whey proteins or no?

It is not proteins that make you weigh more, it is an excess of calories. You gain weight when your intake of calories is greater than the amount you burn. You burn calories naturally through something known as your basal metabollic rate and through exercise/movement. Proteins and carbohydrates have 4 calories per gram. Fat has 9 calories per gram. So yes, eating too much protein will make you gain weight, but that same goes for eating too many carbs or too much fat.

Excess protein may harm your kidneys, don't overdo it.

A well balanced diet consists of 25% protein, 60% carbs, and 15% fats, and so if you want to get bigger then you'll still need up your caloric intake but try to keep the same percentages.

grobar: You are so lost, you're really going to have to start reading this stuff up on the internet.

First of all, is english your first language? Second of all, are you 18 or older?

Thankyou.

Grobar, at this point, in order for you to understand what you need to know in order to build some serious muscle, you would need to ask us about a hundred THOUSAND more questions. It would be much, much easier for all of us if you just did a little search on the internet and found what you need. There are literally millions of pages out there with TONS of information for you. Asking question by question here will be slow and disorganized, as we might answer your question with something that you don't understand, then you'll have to ask about that..etc..etc..

you can start at www.bodybuilding.com if you want.

And im far, far from being a pro. I just spend a lot of time reading.
