It is not proteins that make you weigh more, it is an excess of calories. You gain weight when your intake of calories is greater than the amount you burn. You burn calories naturally through something known as your basal metabollic rate and through exercise/movement. Proteins and carbohydrates have 4 calories per gram. Fat has 9 calories per gram. So yes, eating too much protein will make you gain weight, but that same goes for eating too many carbs or too much fat.
Excess protein may harm your kidneys, don't overdo it.
