Hum, kind of surpised I didn't post here sooner. Got a 59(be 60 in a day or 2) rogue on Hyjal. (300 triabl leatherworking, btw, if you have a hoard druid and want cheep armor. ) Have yet to do any of the big end runs onthe game. Our guild is pretty small. However had a kick ass DM run the night before last. The purple book the warriors and Pallies need to do the quest for thir epic weapon dropped TWICE in one run. First one when to the warrior that was running with us, the second one I won the roll on. That sucker is gonna get me my epic mount. the amount I've seen thing got for in the AH is just insane.

So what does everyone think of ZG? Took my first visit last night. We tried the first boss and had an excelent strategy, and would have beaten her if people didn't feel the need to leave after 2 deaths and/or join a 2+ hour instance when they only have 30 minutes to play............
Anyway from the first few feet of the thing i saw it was ok. Not quite sure how i feel about the exploding bats tho. I mean.. atleast make it interruptable with counterspell or something. The new battleground is pretty nice, i still prever the AV battleground, but its ok. Now if only the horde would play it (they prefer to join WSG as guild groups and farm Honor.. so alliance players just dont play it anymore) So now on my server we have 3 battlegrounds that no one plays. Alliance doesnt want to play WSG, Horde don't want to play AB, and there's just not enough players on the horde side to get a good AV battleground going.. heh... May get in on 1 or 2 battlegrounds a night if you dont mind an hour+ wait. Fun fun!

The only porblem with the new patch is minor for my mage, when im out of range for my spells the hot key number most of the time is red but for the Arcane Missles it doesn't turn red anymore, but it still only works at 30yrd range! Besides that minor problem everything works awesome.

Yea i noticed that too. Also strangely blink seems to have a slight problem too.. i cant put my finger on it exactly, but it isn't always refreshed when it's supposed to be.. and it's gotten me killed multiple times in pvp. This seems to happen in the new battleground.

AB is pretty fun, a much nicer scale for a rogue or any other non AOE class. Only thing is the rewards for rogues really really suck. I mean theres like 1 cloak or something and that's it. The rest is plate and a caster dagger. I really wish they were all just one faction, as it is now it takes forever and a day to get exalted anyways. Assuming you didn't exploit or ninja loot when the system first came out. To me, as a rogue, AV is the worst to play, but has by and far the best rewards.

The 1.7 patch has brought a lot of issues out in the open -- most notably resists. My level 56 Frostbolt spell now behaves as if it was a level 56 casting it, not my 60 Mage. So, resists in PvP and PvE are noticeably higher for all casters who aren't using a level 60 spell for damage (Mages' happens to be Fireball, useless in most raiding content.)
On the bright side, though, we got Thunderfury last night and to the best of my knowledge were the first Horde-PvP guild to do so. I dueled Gauge right after he got it (in 1h+shield mode) and was raped by the procs. I feel sorry for anyone who encounters him, the proc is insane. Pardon the QVC-image, I don't have a screenshot of just Gauge online atm so I yoinked it from our news.

Actually Blizzard says just the opposite is true:
"Hopefully this will clear up any confusion that is currently widespread regarding spell resistances as well as reinforce the fact that since these reports back come in, QA really has tested spell resistances thoroughly and found that they are working in 1.7.0 exactly the same way that they were working in 1.6.1. Firstly, as you all know, the following note is included in the patch 1.7.0 patch notes: Debuffs and area effect spells now use their actual cast level rather than effective cast level for calculating periodic resistance. In better terms, this means that Debuffs and area effect spells now use their adjusted cast level rather then the level the spell became available when calculating periodic resistance. For example, Blizzard rank 5 (a spell learned at level 52) cast by a level 60 mage should be considered cast by a level 60 caster not a level 52 caster." I'm not saying what you are saying is untrue; I'm just saying that that's what they're saying. |

New patch thoughts: ZG is lots of fun. Requires smart, communicative groups and decent strategies. I've killed five of the 6 sub-bosses. If you're questioning ZG, check out the loot drops then get back to us Onyxia was stealth buffed. We usually down her with much ease but this time we couldn't do it in three tries. 1st got her to 5% with a full group left then suddenly we bombed..., 2nd was about 25% with a torn up group remaining, and 3rd to about 35%. The fight is a lot more random now and not as formulaic. I'm all for making things more challenging but man was it random. Edit: We killed Onyxia today but man was it still a "stay-focused" fight.

Heh, we dropped Chromaggus on our first day of attempts without using sands (or exploiting) so I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that those guilds who were saying he was impossible to kill without exploiting were likely exploiting their way up to him as well.

This is kinda random and off running topic.. but whats the point of pvp if you can fight anyone you choose?.. I play on an RP server (cen circle) and I recently tried out The Emerald dream in hopes that I can run around at lvl 1 picking fights with anyone in site, and was very dissappointed when I couldnt and found out I could only fight horde.

Anyone else play on Khadgar? I have 3 characters there
Greatbambino - Troll Mage - 41 Theonemoocha - Tauren Hunter - 19 Nomin - Gnome Warrior - 21 I love WoW, its a really awesome game. The most amazing thing is that all my friends play but we all play with different goals and different approaches. One of my friends plays purely to be altruistic and he loves helping people out. Myself I just love levelling and the challenge of it. I have never played a MMO before, but I got into this one very quickly. Some of the magic has been lost as I have explored the world, it was most fun when I was about level 18. Doing WC has been the highlight for me, I did it in an extremely balanced party of 5, healer, shaman, rogue, warrior and myself (mage) and it was just magic. Raining down the blizzards and doing the big damage and feeling like I played my part, that was gold. Very fun. Must completely disagree with whoever it was who said they use the mouse. I would strongly advise you not to do that. I work in computers and fight against RSI every day, constantly clicking puts great strain on muscles in your hands. Apart from anything else once you get used to it and have everything hotkeyed up its not a problem. My gnome warrior is my most fun character, but I mostly play my mage now cause I want to see the endgame (sometime this year). Gnome warrior is such a crazy contradiction and its a real challenge, but he is getting quite cool and has potential I think. High agility is pretty neat. My original idea was to make him a tank but that is proving not feasible, I'm going to go for more damage when I pick him up again. My biggest gripe with WoW is just that it takes an unnecessary amount of time to do stuff, and it seems like it has been engineered to be a really slow game. That is cool cause now all my friends are playing, but it seems that it has been designed to keep people playing for as long as possible. Especially the honour system, new BG, new long raids etc., and soon the expansion pack, I think it alienates a lot of non-hardcore players this way. If I designed an MMO it would run on playstation and it wouldn't just be for nerds, it would be for everyone. I'm sick of being the nerd who plays that crazy game, and its becoming more widely accepted but I still think that the truely massive MMO is yet to come, the one that every young person plays. Anyway if your on Khadgar give me a yell. We have our own Horde guild full of nice people as well. |

You sound like you're really enjoying the game for what it is MechCow. Enjoy it while you can. The closer you get to 60 with the more grinding you have to do, the less I felt the magic that I think you mentioned you felt around level 18. I see that you have a few alts already which is a great idea for early on.
It's good to hear nice stories from people who aren't worried about the level 60 drama for a chance -T

I debated about getting WoW until PC Gamer settled it for me. I got the 14 day trial disk in the mail and thought 'Hey, what the hell?'
Loved it started 6 different characters to see which felt best, and they I find out that, if I buy the actual game and join up I can transfer the trail game characters over! Score – no need to start from scratch. Going to concentrate on the Rouge 18, Warrior 18 and Warlock 15

Last weekend, my "Raid Alliance" group killed Ragnaros. Funny thing was, it was a bugged encounter. The sons didn't spawn, so all we had to do was keep our tank and DPS alive, recouperate during the 90 second breaks, and we finally managed to kill him. It took 3 waves of non-existant Sons to kill him, so in actuality, we are a long ways from killing him.

So, my guild is getting pretty awesome. We're not super leet or anything... we have about 20 members right now, but over the last few days, we've been really having a fun time.
We zerged UBRS on Saturday in 70 minutes. We had a hunter pull the entire last room to us across the bridge. When I say entire.. I mean.. ENTIRE. She asked, "Do you want me to keep pulling? There's only 2 groups left." And we told her to keep going. So we handled the next group she pulled, and she went back for the last group. After a brief pause, I decided to look down the bridge to see what was coming... and there came Drakkisath with his two guards. That had to be the funniest sight ever. The fact that we owned him and his guards after having them essentially "leeroyed" onto us by our puller made it even funnier. To think, it takes a pickup group like 5 minutes to go over the strategy before attempting him. Then they wipe. On Sunday, we killed the first 4 bosses in ZG, which was just plain awesome and enjoyable. That new instance is where it's at. Such a welcome challenge. We capped the night by doing a COMPLETE stratholme run in 90 minutes. On monday, we spent a good 4 hours wiping to the 5th boss in ZG (Thekal) before finally downing him on what we declared would be our last attempt. He dropped shitty loot, but we were all pleased. Tonight we're going for the 6th boss, Arolkk. Hope she drops her staff.

A few nights ago I went on my first raid in Ashenvale with my level 18 Rogue. Here's a tip for the newbies (yeah, that's right, I spelled it correctly – I'm old!) If you're below level 20, don't go on a raid unless you want to die a lot! One shot kills, one hit kills. I was dying faster than I do playing Quake III. I even tried to sit down in stealth and watch the battle unfold, nope, some hunters still saw me sitting on the tree stump minding my own business and blew me away...Ka-BLAM! So I watched in wisp form which was very educational. I had never seen the Area Effect powers before. Watching the ground under the Horde turn to snow (ice) was totally unexpected
Don’t get me wrong, it was fun, and it makes me want to get to a higher level so I can get cooler equipment and spells. Who knows, maybe someday I'll get a chance to 'gank' someone…as soon as I figure out what the hell that means.

Raiding was one of the more entertaining aspects of the game. My guild that I was in before I quit raided the Undercity once with 70 level 60s. That was amazing. We got the UC boss down to 14% without a plan. I wish Battlegrounds was that fun. I wish Battlegrounds didn't ruin the honor system as well. I'd still be playing if the honor system was playable without doing Alterac Valley 20 times a week to compete with the CP farmers.

I'm back into this game hardcore now... well kind of...
my characters: Azgalor - Alliance Kaeldar - 46 NE druid Saara - 25 human rogue Thrusha - 25 dwarf priest Pickles - 23 gnome warrior Sqwert - 20 gnome warlock like someone said earlier... it's hard to play just one. I've also created hordes on lots of other servers, but I haven't absolutely decided which server is going to be my horde server, so they're all low level. |

My guild finally took down Bloodlord Mandokir and High Priestess Mar'li tonight. We've been wiping on those two for a couple weeks, so it was nice to finally get them out of the way.
Too bad neither one of them dropped any decent loot. I was really hoping to pick up the epic bow. Ah well. |

We've cleared most of ZG so far. Mar'li and Thekal were bastard fights. We're on Arlokk, but we've only had a couple attempts. We kicked ourselves in the head when we realized, after we had retired for the night, that we had been doing it the hard way. Why oh why did we not think of Blessing of Sanctuary?
