Last night my guild took down Lucifron, Magmadar, Gehennas, Garr, Baron Geddon, Shazzrah, Sulfuron, and Golemagg in 5 or 6 hours! It's a new record for us. We usually only do 6 bosses on the first raid night. The lag was HORRID last night (I'm talking three to TEN second lag spikes) but we still took down all 8. We wiped on Sulfuron (easy fight) because my priest was feeding her kid a peanut butter sandwich. 26 fucking epics dropped (like 8 BoEs). I scored lots of DKP...enough to get the Obsidian Edged Blade, also known as the only reason I'm doing Molten Core. Here's to hoping it drops next run!

Heh. It's a normal server. Surprisingly, we need some good rogues and hunters. However, we are remarkably even in most classes. I could take just about any class as long as you know how to play well. Same with tradeskills, but the two we have the least of is leatherworking and engineering.

I thought about switching to a PvE server, after a while having level 60 douchebags camping every town you level up in from 20-60 gets old.
60 Sham/60 Pal, so I've enjoyed the experience from both sides as well. Besides, who PvP's outside of BG's now anyways? Friends, and having to start over with 0 cash/items keeps me from doing so. |

Ya PvP is over rated now. It was fun when town raids and such happened. Or when there was constent fighting going on in Southshore. But now outside PvP sucks because normally its just someone camping you and in BGs its now just people farming HKs or honor points. Kinda sucks really. Right now on the PvE server its kinda nice to just level without having to worry bout the gank, or you know stealthing though entire zones or laying the frost trap with every pull just incase. But I do miss the rush you get when somenoe does sneak up and try to get you, kinda makes for quick thinking. But I needed something new.

There wasn't any quick thinking involved when I was one-shotted over and over outside Undercity.. I was only a level 8 mage, and this level 60 druid moonfired me from out of nowhere.. and then kept one-shotting me everytime I rezzed. That was pure bully. At first I thought he was just gonna have his fun and leave me alone after my first death... but he stayed, stealthed, waiting for me. 5 deaths later, I rezzed at the GY, logged out and went back to PvE. Boo!! |

Ya I was wondering that to unless he swam into the lake to the other side but even then ya 5 mins later he would have dropped that flag and been ok. But ya ganking is still a problem and probably always will be. They said when the honor system came out they where going to but in a pentalty for dis-HKs but that never happened so people still do it. I have seen peopled dis-HKs that are in the thousands, its crazy how much some people gank. But still PvP is a lot of fun I think it was more fun prior to BGs but I might be in the minority.

Sometimes you get to actually enjoy it though, and fight people around your level 1 on 1, but those are few and far between. Take for instance last week, I go inside the Yeti caves and stroke two level 30s Warriors on my 32 Warrior, then not two minutes later a 60 Hunter rolls up and lays waste. It's not always horrible, but you have alot of bad days. I miss release PVP ;P |

I've absolutely HAD IT with Blizzard's shitty downloader.
It's worthless. My connection has a max of 400+ k/sec and this thing just crept along the whole time at a measly 100k/sec while MAXING my outgoing bandwidth. So not only did it take eons to get the update, but it stopped at the last meg for about 20 minutes while... everyone was leeching from me. Yep, 60k/sec goin out on my end, but lo and behold, I can't get the last meg. Utterly ridiculous. Are there any places to straight up download the patch from without having to go through this hassle?

I couldn't imagine playing on a pve server, you just don't have those special moments you have on a pvp server on pve.
My favorite was at level 24 or so fearing a level 53 mage off the elevator lift at TN. He and his buddy were toying with me (both 50+) instead of ganking me, which is even more annoying. So I aoe feared them, and it stuck on both of them and I made a run for the lift. The mage caught up with me, hit me with a couple of instants which I survived barely, frost novaed me while I was on the lift, and then I feared him off it about 3/4ths of the way up. Wish I could have had a video of the plummetting gnome. Nothing is quite as fun as turning the tables on gankers. Saddly blizzard really fubared the honor system, and showed they don't understand pvp, but the core game is still good enough to keep me going.

There's quite a few places you can get the patchs stompy. Just look at any website like filefront, fileplanet, etc. When I was still playing I think I used there DLer like once...last december. It is there crappiest shit in an otherwise quality game. Well how they handle PvP is up there too.

hit 60 :-)
My troll mage has finally hit Level 60. Levels 50-60 certainly took a long time and were very painful. What makes them more painful is that you should be able to go up by grouping and doing Strat, Scholo, DM, LBRS or BRD quests but only for BRD will people actually group with you because they made those instances impossible for a group of 5 sub level 60's (at least the ones I have tried). I think they should have made it that each time you kill a mob you get less experience for killing it (until eventually you get none), so that grinding either becomes like a quest in itself as you must seek out new mobs and so that there is a much higher incentive to actually do the instances.
My biggest gripe with wow is that very often grouping means you earn less rewards and makes you less productive. This often creates tension in groups as everyone wants to keep moving and rush through everything. I think the elite mobs should give heaps more experience and items than they do, and the single player game should be restricted as more of a "something to pass the time when your mates are not on" rather than a very effective way to get xp and items. Now I have hit 60 its tough to know what to do. I've seen a few of the high end instances and they are fun but nothing amazing so far. I would love to run ZG or MC but I have no idea how to get enough people together and playing from Australia it means the timezones are horribly out of sync. I'll probably just play my alliance character from now on. Still love mages and I think they are pretty effective. In BG I hold my own using fire. Don't really want to use that instant-pyroblast build because the arcane stuff doesn't really interest me as much but I'll give it a go at some point. Duelling I get completely owned always because I can't defend myself and can't deal damage superfast but that doesn't really bother me. Here are some screenshots of what I've done so far: http://heenan.dyndsl.inspired.net.au/gallery/wow |

This I guess is a little rant, The thing I hate the most is when I run 2 Instances in one night ( Strat Scarlet and UBRS) and all I get is a Fire Resistant ring...ya it a sweet fire mage ring but its a damn green, before we started they said a blue for everyone, and I got nothing...thats why I hate non-guild raids these days...

Blegh.. It's kinda annoying having to look for a party every time I play now. In the earlier levels I could do it alone by hopping around to the different newb zones, but now every quest I get seems like I need 2-3 other people.
It's fun questing with others, but I hate wasting 1/4 of my playing time just to find enough people.

I love my guild.. when we're not raiding, we're zerging instances like crazy. We are frequently reminded of our days in PuGs when "pulls like that" would easily wipe the group, yet we, as an organized group of players easily handled. At this point, we only run instances for gear for our new recruits and alts because most of us are decked in MC/ZG gear. I think our record (not even trying, mind you) on the ENTIRE Stratholme is 90 minutes. Sure, it could be done faster by a determined group, but we were just bored. Our record in UBRS (with FF) is like 55 min.

Okay folks - I've gone ahead and started playing. I've got one character (Alliance) on Medivh, another character (Alliance) on Greymane, and a third character (Horde) on Magtheridon. Do any of you guys play on those servers, and if so, willing to help out someone completely new the game?
I inhereted a friend's account with six months left on it - so I'll be playing for at least six months The reason I've got so many characters is because I have three different groups of friends, who all want me to play with them, and they're all on different servers. Makes life difficult.

Yeah, that's definitely going to make leveling a difficult venture.
What classes did you pick? That will also influence your leveling if your friends aren't around/you need to go solo. Do you have any questions?

Human Warlock, Nightelf Hunter, Tauren Warrior
I've been doing pretty well soloing with the Hunter, which is the main one I've been doing. The warlock, one friend already created a new character and another friend is doing the same shortly, and so we're going to level together (so I've mostly stopped playing him until they get back from vacations), and I haven't been playing the warrior much - was having too much fun with the Hunter

I got Knight-Champion last week. Right now I'm about 1/10th towards Lieutenant-Commander (my stopping point). One more rank to go!!! I'm really excited. At rank 10 you get the remaining pieces of the PVP set.
I've also been to MC a few more times. Right now I have enough DKP to get THREE Obsidian Edged Blades...I just have to get them to drop now. Any melee classes wanna help me make a decision? The OEB isn't that much better than an Arcanite Reaper (max damage, min damage, DPS, stats, everything), but it is an upgrade. The Unstoppable Force is MUCH better than the OEB and Arcanite Reaper, but requires getting to exalted in Alterac Valley. Now the last variable: mace spec versus sword spec versus axe spec. Axe is clearly the most favored. Is it worth spending my DKP on the OEB if I could get TUF with AV farming? I could get 3 or 4 pieces of Might if I didn't get the OEB. It's just getting old using the same weapon for 10 months (literally). I need an upgrade, but the OEB just doesn't offer that much more. Any suggestions? (PS: the OEB is getting a graphical overhaul in 1.9 and looks totally badass. BIG factor here!)

I've been really happy with WoW so far. Its been a lot of fun and i've met some really nice people who, just like me, love to waste hours away playing these games.
I have a lvl 60 mage named Tanagra on the Horde side on the Gurubashi server and i'm now deep in the PvP/Battleground rank grind. I'm starting to have dreams about Arathi Basin every night I spend so much damn time in there! Gurubashi is a pretty decent server, unfortunately the Horde outnumber the Alliance like 2 to 1, so it can be difficult to find some good PvP action sometimes. If anyone is planning on rolling a new Alliance, come to Gurubashi...hehe. Im part of the AZVU Brotherhood on Gurubashi http://www.az-vu.com FOR THE HORDE! |
