i noticed it too. the writers are smart, they do a good job of carefully crafting this script.
i'm sure there's a reason for the loose end, as there seems to always be a loose end somewhere in an episode. indeed, it seemed to fray the loose end even more when locke and boone obviously found something last ep but told none and are sneaking around doing crap. |

Okay.
So that pissed me off. The whole thing with Boone. I kept thinking it had to have been a dream. But why? I hate Locke. He's fuckin looney toons. Boone and Shannon just step-siblings? yawn, big shocker there. I love Hurley. He's awesome. Next week? The polar bear again? I give this episode a solid D. Grr. ![]()

I thought it was great but certainly WTF material.
I'm going to have a stroke trying to figure out where this show is going. Did Locke enduce the halucination or did the beasty do it? I mean is it like a karma beast of some kind that makes you see only what you think you are going to see? I keep wanting to think Locke is good but man too much crazy crap is surrounding him. Knowing just the right thing to help people get over their hang ups. Giving what's his face a borked compass. The plane door he won't show to anybody. And then that old black lady is starting to adopt a mystic hoodoo kind of vibe as well with the episode last week. What the hell is going on here?!!! |

I can't figure out what is going to happen with this show - there are so many big questions hanging out there - how the hell can the show be in any way resolved in a reasonable way at the end of the season.
Usually shows leave a single big cliff hanger, frustrating as it is, but not the 100 this show seems to be setting up for. I mean consider the number of unfinished stories out there. But at the same time it seems like any serious resolution would pretty much require the show to take a whole new direction! Any one know anything/have any suspicions? |

I had a bit of WTF-itis at the end of last night's episode also. Feeling a bit ripped off about the hallucination scene, but since the beginning of Lost I've accepted that I'm going to have to suspend my disbelief to really like this show. Did anyone else feel kind of weird watching Boone and his half sister going at it? Even though they're just actors it was like 'this feels a little creepy'. I'm not sure how smart this Boone fellow is.
OPEN THE DAMN HATCH ALREADY! FIND OUT WHAT KIND OF FREAKY ANIMAL IT IS, KILL IT, AND STOP THAT WHOLE STUPID PLOTLINE ALREADY! KATE, SHANNON AND THE ORIENTAL CHICK - GET NAKED ALREADY !

And FIND CLAIRE! For fuck sake, did they just drop that storyline all together?
Man that episode really got my knickers in a knot.

What if Locke has somehow gotten control of the beast, or it is an extention of his consiousness (sp), he almost seemed meditating while Boone and his step-sister (no blood, remember in the police station flashback) were being attacked.
Why haven't they tried digging around the hatch. Maybe there is another with a handle on it. Got a weird feeling LOST and Alias’ storylines are possibly connected thru the Rumbaldi thing because Rumbaldi had created a mind altering drug and that may be connected to LOST and the island, etc. and that on Alias last night when she was having the party, the song that was playing in the background was Driveshafts, You All Everybody” which is Charlie’s (on LOST) band name and song. Strange!!!

I'm seriously beginning to suspect a whole "St. Elsewhere-this is all somebody's dream/coma/autistic/fantasy sequence" vibe.
Or it could be some grand experiment of "lets just put a bunch of crap together that doesn't make any sense, and see how long people watch it" As for the Alias/Lost connection, Terry O'Quinn was FBI asst director Kendall, who had become part of "Department of Special Research". Hmmmmmmmm Curiouser and curiouser. |

I still can't get over how evil Shannon is... Pretending to be in abusive relationships to lure out her stepbrother save her by paying off the boyfriend... And when she get's screwed over, she used his love for her by sleeping with him so he would put her back on the bankroll... Pure Evil.

I had this past week's episode recorded and I just finished watching it. But it stopped recording the very end of the last segment.. I saw Boone and Locke talking about how his sister was ok and it was all a hallucination. Was anything important revealed, besides the fact that it was a halluciation? And was that the last scene of the episode?
But I agree that this episode wasn't all that great. Having Boone and Shannon be step-siblings / lovers is extremely contrived. I hate it when TV shows do things like that.... making a big revelation like that, only there's no indications from previous episodes that the writers had this planned. They just did it on a whim to make things dramatic. Oh well, such is TV ![]() Quote:

This show is brilliant. I leaves a million questions open, while answering enough to keep most of us happy and wanting more.
I don't think there's any real correlation between shows (maybe 'in' jokes, but I doubt it's going to be a plot twist). I'm not sure about the creature.. but it's good that Locke helped Boone get over his sister. I gave this episode an A, besides asking a lot of new questions, there were a few moments where I was saying "holy shit". This is my favourite show on right now. |

I get so irritated when shows aren't willing to kill off characters. I cheered when the hobbit died and when they killed off the slut, and I was PISSED when they revived them both. Seriously, they are tranded on an island and no one has died yet (except that pilot)?
This is my favorite show on TV (until Deadwood comes back in March). I think Locke rules, but Sawyer is probably my favorite. Kate is teh hott and somehow looks great after a month on the island. They must not have run out of razors yet. |

Just heard this, and I thought I'd share. J.J. Abrams (the creator of the show) and Michael Keaton (Batman) are friends, so Keaton got a copy of the script for the pilot episode. Keaton liked the script, and was planned to play Jack. But...in that early version of the pilot, Jack died off in the first episode. Apparently Keaton liked it because the main character was killed off in the first episode. When it was changed so Jack lived, Keaton backed out.
I'm still loving the show. This last episode may not have been the best, but I did get my dose of "WTF". Not because of Boone and Shannon being lovers (I thought that was obvious enough from prev. episodes), not because of her dying, then it revealed as a dream, but because when Locke asked him how he felt after seeing her die, he said "Relieved." I'm sure I had a "Huh?" look on my face after he said that. Something that a poster said earlier in the thread looks to becoming more and more evident after each episode, that the survivors were "lost" in civilization and are only finding themselves now thanks to the island. I know I'm gonna keep watching.

This show is great, I've got no idea what is going on. I tried to make a post a few times but it kept getting convoluted and messy so I organized the main points of the unreadable messes.
1. Locke is ridiculously competant and the island restored his legs, Terrible Secret of Mystery Island... not so terrible? 2. The man who took Claire is presumably of the marooned group the French woman came with and his current evil alignment probably part of what convinced the French women that there is evil afoot. Also ridiculously competant? 3. French women is overtly 'off' and killed some of her cohorts for having been infected or gotten to by the island. Seemingly defensive to the point of paranoia with the Terrible Secret of Mystery Island. 4. Crazy guy is probably on the dark side of Mystery island. I'd say he is the dark side but it seems from the monster that the island itself is capable of manifesting itself and as such doesn't need to embody itself in people. 5. Locke, having had his legs restored by it, is on it's good side and probably is unwittingly on the path to doing a boat load of good. I'm also thinking that Locke will probably set everyone in the right direction to follow the goodly path and be relegated to the position of inconsequential burden doing so, as he'll probably rescue Claire and get mortally wounded/poisoned/regress to the wheelchair General. Doing that would kill the mystery allure of the show as it would get somewhat fortellable from there, so I'm geussing I'm completely wrong as there are oodles of misdirection in this great show. |

They said this episode was going to answer questions...it just raised more confusion!
Ok Walt is some kind of Child of the Corn and is making stuff manifest out of pictures or something? I still think Locke is behind the creatures somehow. And exactly WHY is he making everyone in debt to him? Charlie,Boone, and now Michael. Claire is back but she isn't preggers any more...the black rock...could that be the thing throwing the compass off? And now it looks like they are going to show a rerun next week. AAAHHHHH!!! |

You know as soon as I saw Walt looking at that Spanish comic book with the bear I was like you know all that stuff with Locke about thinking and making stuff happening (Charlie's guitar appearing, Locke walking again) I bet the kid's dreams or something are manifesting the bears and other creatures, then there was the deal with the bird and I know it was because of him. It got me thinking though what if the dog is really dead and Walt kinda made another one because he missed his so much? I wonder if he could make other pictures/thoughts appear? I think he's going to play a big part down the line much to the dismay of his father.
Locke and Boone though are a crazy combination that's for sure kinda freaky! Oh well that's all my thoughts from the first run though i'm going to watch it again, next week's should be good |

Who says that Claire is not pregnant anymore? It looked to me as though she was. It was really hard to tell, though. A good ending though.

Most shows this time of year have a few new episodes in January, maybe 1 or 2, then go with the repeats, then new shoes for February sweeps.
Will they lose viewers? Doubtful. You're still going to tune in cause you're hooked, like the rest of us ![]()

Yeah, I am enjoying most of the episodes pretty well, but I don't like to have so many breaks in between the progression. warrrreagl may be right that they just didn't anticipate the show being as well liked as it is and don't have enough episodes to fill out the season. Seems kind of fatalistic to me. To make a show, but not be confident that it will be great. Eh.

You're right, as usual Averett.
Hey by the way I was looking for your "Classic episode" thread, but couldn't find it. That Saved By The Bell Episode you mentioned is pure CLASSIC! Especially at the end when Jesse goes on that rage and she sings "I'm so excited! I'm so excited. I'm so....so...scared!" Best. Line. Ever. Anyways, back to LOST... Boones sister is HOT.

Thanks, Daoust
![]() I'm pretty sure that the Lost folks made enough episodes to last the season. And I'd bet they knew it was going to be a hit. From what I understand, most television shows make enough for half a season, then wait to see if they'll be picked up. And most shows know pretty quickly if they will be picked up or not. I think most shows have 18-24 new episodes a season. We're on #14, so we've got 10 more to go.

OH COME ON
they must've known they were going off the air for a half month with a friggin cliffhanger like that anyway, main complaint isn't really plot-wise. its with the CG (not to present any spoiler, people who've seen it should know what i'm saying). |

Okay, so I was busy writing music this morning and an episode of "Gilligan's Island" was playing in the background and it started creeping me out. I immediately and easily related some things to "Lost," so here's what I saw.
It was a color episode from season two where a crate of coconuts washed up and one of them was wrapped in a newspaper that accused one of the castaways of murdering some guy named Randolph Blake with a spear gun before they sailed away on the S.S. Minnow. What's so weird about it was the unbelievable connections running between 5 of the castaways and this one dead guy. I remember everytime I saw that episode before, I used to think, "Oh yeah right, like these seemingly unconnected, random guests on a cruise are all magically linked to the same man. Right." However, after becoming a fan of "Lost," I'm not so quick to dismiss.... According to the episode, Randolph Blake was from the same hometown as Maryann, and he forced her father into bankruptcy. She went to Hawaii to confront him before taking the cruise on the Minnow. Second, Ginger Grant briefly dated Randolph Blake, and he cheated on her. She confronted him about that just before she sailed on the Minnow. Next, Randolph Blake stole one of The Professor's scientific papers and published it as his own, costing The Professor several years of research down the tubes. He finally confronted Blake about the theft right before sailing on the Minnow. Lastly, Randolph Blake was an employee of Thurston Howell, and he'd been caught skimming money out of the register. Both Howells went to confront him about the theft the night before they sailed on the Minnow. Does this not sound exactly like the kind of odd "coincidences" that drew all of our "Lost" castaways together on that fateful flight? They're all bound together somehow, and we're slowly being given the pieces.
