As far as I can remember, the only famous person I've met is Roy Clark. My dad used to play with his touring band, and we went on tour with them when I was a kid. We had lunch with him and got our picture taken. Seemed like a nice guy, and though I didn't and still don't care for the music much, his raw talent was very obvious from watching him play.

We live in Northwest Arkansas, near some old Civil War battlefields where "The Blue and the Gray" was filmed, and my (future) wife went to be an extra and met Lloyd Bridges. He held her hand for a few minutes during a scene change or something. She said he was really nice.

I remembered one more: I had a class with pro football great Steve Atwater when he was in college at Arkansas. I can't really say I knew him, but we were in class together and I spoke to him occasionally.

wasn't this on [I]Tilted Nonsense[/I}?

i've met Walter Peyton: I did a comercial with him for the MDA. (long ago, i've got nothing good to say about MDA)

I had Lamont from Sanford and Son come visit me once when I had pneumonia. he's a preacher now and a nice guy.

I've also met POD in 97 and 99. they are awesome people. in 97 they were playing off of their "B.R.O.W.N." lp.. it was GOOD. too bad their mainstreeme music kinda sucks. but as people, the guys from POD are wonderful. i talked to Sonny (lead singer) a long time and Marcos (the slightly over-weight guitarest) and was amazed at how laid back and nice they were. I also met Tray (the bassist) but he's very, very shy and Wuv (drummer) was nice too, but busy.

they even asked me to go out and eat with them. and they answered my emails personally.

they are also 'real Christians' like myself. theytry to live by Christ's actions, not dogmatic views.

ok... it seems like i've met someone else but i forget who...

I've met a handful of celebrities, mostly entertainers, athletes and politicians; however, the most memorable one for me was Brigadier General Charles Duke, who was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 16.

Yep, I met a guy who walked on the moon! How cool is that?!

I sat next to Calvin Hill on the shuttle bus at an airport. My then-wife didn't know who he was (First free agent in the NFL- running back, has a son named Grant who plays basketball) but he was on his cellphone so I laid off. He was talking to his colleagues at the Dallas Cowboys front office about how fast Joey Galloway was. He caught me snickering (I am a Redskins fan and Joey is very fast-but also very brittle). When we got off the bus I told my then-wife who he was- and as the bus drove away he waved to us.

Literally bumped into Jason Sehorn once. He might not look like too much on TV but he is big, and in shape. He was all decked out in some Versace suit but he was cool about it. I had just finished working the game in the hospitality suite section so I was looking rough.

Sehorn was like, "Man, you look like I feel."

I asked him if he felt that bad, we laughed and I moved along.

Have you ever met a celebrity?

Have you ever met anyone well known? Such as a celebrity, sports figure, politician, president or prime minister, etc...

As for myself:
I have met Larry Walker (Baseball player for the Colorado Rockies)

And I have had a one-on-one political discussion with Ann Coulter. She's a fascinating person to talk to. Very sharp, witty and can formulate an excellent argument either for or against any topic.

I've met Bill Clinton (don't share that much often) and we actually talked about the whole Monica Lewinski scandal (he didn't give details, it was a very serious and mature talk). I've met a few other celebrities (Mario Lopez, Jean Claude van Damm, Arnold Schwarzaneggar, Silvester Stalone) but none were as interesting as President Clinton.

I interviewed Johnny Holliday for a Comm class once. I also shook EJ Henderson's hand after a football game.

Generally I tend to be very shy (perfect for someone going into a journalism-broadcast field...), so I don't talk to many celebrities.

Clinton and Mother Teresa.

I really didn't have an opportunity to talk in depth to either of them, but it was still neat.

Oh, edited to add:

I didn't think about it, but I once grilled Colorado senator Ben Nitehorse Campbell (he's an ass, IMO) and had a good chat with former Colorado governor Dick Lamm (think "Duty to Die").

I also knew my state reps and senators by first name while I still lived in the city.

Well, I don't really consider myself as having MET any celebrities.

I've spoken briefly with Mike Singletary (I was so young I barely remember) and Tony Amonte. I've also said a couple words to Mickey Dolenz (the Monkees) and one of the Buckinghams (another oldies group - known for "Susan" and "Happy Together" among others)

Besides for that though, none that I can think of.

Many of them. I have a few that are good friends. Here are just a couple:

All the Baldwin brothers

Anthony Hopkins

Owen Wilson

Most of these are friends I see maybe a couple of times a year but the only one that really made me all goofy inside when I met him was Jimmy Page........I FUKIN FREAKED!!

I sold his sister in law a car and her and I became really good friends. Well she always mention her sister and husband named Jimmy, well when Page Plant had their Walking into Clarksdale tour I had mentioned to her one day that I would love to see that show....thats when she said her sister is married to Jimmy Page.I said.."yea right" she said serious and I she would hook me up. Back Stage...front row....AWESOME!!

I went to her house the next day to thank her. Jimmy and his family was there and we talked and shot the shit for a couple of hours.

That was the only time I was really excited about meeting a celeb...........I MEAN JIMMY FUKIN PAGE!!!!!

I flew in a DC-3 with Bill Clinton back in 1982, when he was trying to reclaim the Arkansas governor's office after losing it in 1980. The plane belong to a co-worker of my uncle, both of whom worked at KPOM-TV then. He spent most of the plane ride from Fort Smith to Little Rock telling "Little Johnny" jokes, not exactly the best thing to be telling a 7 year-old, but he was sick of working on some stupid speech he was giving and Hillary wasn't there looking over his shoulder.

Since then, most of the celebrities I've seen were wrestlers: "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer, Chavo Guererro Sr., and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. Former Razorback basketball coach Nolan Richardson tipped me $10 once.

I met a local news anchor one time at a Duncan Donuts.
She was very sweet about talking to us and giving out autographs.

Funnily enough, two Country singers came from my little home town, but I was a few grades below them and after graduating, they skedaddled out of town so I didn't meet them.
(Lee Ann Womack and Neil McCoy)

I graduated with a guy that ended up making one of those Skinemax movies in Hollywood, and my brother graduated with Deborah Yates. She was in the Broadway musical, "Contact". She played the girl in the yellow dress.
I don't think I met her, but I might've brushed by her in the hall at school. Does that count?

When my mom started college in West Texas when she was younger, she met a girl that later became a good friend.
They hung out, did the usual stuff.
Then one day, she invited my mom over to her Mothers' house, and when they came inside it was to see the girls' brother, looking all dirty and scruffy, asleep on the couch.
I think they were going to have coffee and maybe study some in the living room.
Moms' friend was a little put out by her brother being there and so she decided to pour some water on his head to wake him up.
Well, needless to say, he was now up.
While coffee was brewing, he and my mom got acquainted.

It turned out to be Waylon Jennings, before the fame.

one for the uk users.
Worked in these peoples houses and met them:
Robin Cook when he was foreign secretary, had to move his TV set to do some work on his aerial/satellite system and managed to knock over an expensive looking chess set on the top of the tv set. got all the pieces back bar an elephant (which were the pawns) so naturally didn't say a word.

Victoria Wood, Sean Bean (nice guy) and got stuck in a lift at the Treasury with Gordon Brown (MASSIVE guy). And Howard Wilkinson when he was caretaker manager of England Football (soccer) team, he's about 7 feet tall!

Very impressive...but, I'd kinda gloss over the *NSYNC, if ya know what I mean.

I was on Queen Elizabeth's Personal Security Detail, when she toured the Strategic Air Command Headquaters back in 1986. Oddly enough, they pulled Sgt's Carrigan, Cassidy and O'Hallorin off of the detail at the last minute. I'm sure that it had nothing to do with their Irish names. And yeah...that was as boring as it sounds.

There are a few, but my favorite (and this is more of a "spotting" than a "meeting") was when I was walking past the Ed Sullivan Theater here in NYC during a Letterman taping. There was a big crowd out front but I wasn't sure why. So I waited around and eventually made my way to the front. Suddenly, Don Rickles came out of the store next door (I guess they were filming a "bit" there) and walked right in front of me. It caught me by surprise so I yelled out, "wow! Don Rickles!"

He just stopped in his tracks - stared at me for 5 seconds (seemed like 10 minutes) like I was the biggest asshole he had ever met - and then kept walking.

I'm pretty proud of that one. Don Rickles thought I was an asshole. But Don Rickles probably thinks most people are assholes.

Well this summer I met Davy Jones very breifly. I won some music scholarship through a festival my town puts on during the fourth of July. They usually have some well known performer for the last night, and this year it happened to be him. They presented the award to me on the same stage he performed on, so basically we walked past each other, and he said "hi" and congratulations." Thats the closest I've ever come to "meeting" anyone famous, but hey, its better than nothing.
