Déja Vu...
Please, if anyone makes a matrix reference i will disembowel you:-).
How often have you guys had déva vu? i always get it when i'm under a lot of stress... not emotional stress either (relationships, family), more like school stress and work stress. it's really quite frustrating, because i'll remember having a dream-image about the instance in question and it will bother me that i couldn't think of it earlier. |

I have deja vu (you'll have to forgive me, I have no idea where the accent is) constantly! The weirdest experience I've had with it actually did involve a black cat crossing my path, however, this was a good 10 years before the matrix
My aunt and I had traveled to my other aunt's house in Erie, PA, and we had with us our 18 year old cat, Boo. Boo hated traveling, and would hide under any bed she could find once she got to her destination. On the second night we were there, I was sitting on the bed in the guest bedroom reading a book, and listening to my walkman, and I heard Boo crying over the music - so I turned it off and called her. I watched her come in the room, and run straight under the bed. I immediately hung myself over the side of the bed upside down to try and coax her to come out, but she wasn't there. I got up, searched under the other bed, in the closets, and anywhere else she could have been hiding, but she was nowhere to be found. After a few minutes of this, I gave up, and got back up on the bed, and started reading again. Not 5 minutes later, I heard her cry, I looked up, and then saw her follow the same path she had before, straight under my bed. So, I flipped up the covers once again - and there she was, huddled in a corner, just like always. I was only 12 or 13 when this happened, but it has always stuck with me - I've never forgotten a single detail of that moment. And it still weirds me out!

I've had a lot of deja vu and I acctually enjoy it.
What I've come to realize is that everything is happening simultaneously, all at once, and that everything is connected and so when I experience deja vu, I know that it is/has happened and that especially when it involves another person, it's that our souls' lives have crossed paths in another dimension/plane. It's a conscious view of our sub/super-conscious experience and it tends to trip people out. |

I have it about once a month and it's vague like I should know what happens next but I really cant put it to words. I think it's just our lives are so long and our mind cant catalogue it all with absolute detail. So once a similar scenerio comes along we get the odd déja-vu feeling.

I had this crazy sense of Deja vu yesterday when I was with my girlfriend...
It was really weird, but it felt like I was repeating a conversation that I had somewhere else. I dunno, it had to do with her smelling nice. But anyways, it was weird because both the smell and the conversation were really familiar, and she's my first girlfriend so its not as though I had this conversation before... crazy...

this may be a stretch, but i've found it true in my case.
is she shy at all? in either case you may have noticed the smell (more likely than not, since attraction is mosetly an addiction to pheromones excreted by your significant other) and then thought about saying something and did not, or remembered the smell after she was gone.

Some people claim deja vu occurs when your brain stores a memory in two different places. (For computer experts, it is similar to 'crosslinked files' on a hard drive.)
I often have deja vu after sleeping for an unusually long period of time. (The days where I am lazy and stay in bed for a good 12 hours or more and dream silly/crazy dreams.) Shortly after, I have a conversation (or other experience) where I feel like I've had the same experience before. However, as much as I wish it had really happened before... I can never seem to 'predict' what the next sentence of the conversation/situation will be. But, even after it happens (someone says the next thing), it still seems to 'make sense' that I've heard it before. (I can't really explain it well) I believe if I ever can 'predict' what happens, I'd be inclined to think there is substance to deja vu other than a faulty wire in the brain. |

I used to get deja vu fairly often, maybe once every other month or so, but the last couple years I've only had it 3 or 4 times. It's always an exact memory of everything I see, hear, and even think, leading a lot of them to include my thinking, 'Hey, I remember this exact sequence.' I think I can predict what's happening once it starts, but it only last a second or two so can't do anything about it. Of course, when the whole thing happens the first time, I can never tell if it's a future event or something I imagining until it happens.
Once or twice I remember the "preview" vividly, afterwards thinking 'that was weird.' It's happend upwards of a year in advance in some cases. It's odd, and thought provoking, but it doesn't do anything for me or actullay give any information in advance. |

One scientific explanation is that real time information from our active senses gets transported through one kind of routes in our brain, and recalled memories uses another kind of routes. But sometimes realtime information happens to use the routes that usually are used for memorized information. Then we preceive them as memories though they are not.
Read that somewhere. Makes sense.

about a week ago i was chilling over at a friend's apartment. they're were probably 5 of us that knew eachother well, and a couple of people that i hadnt ever hung out with. we were all just sitting around talking and i had the LONGEST deja vu. usually they only last a half minute or so, but this one went on for probably 4 or 5 minutes. i was just sitting there thinking "this person says this, then this person does that, then this song comes on." it was crazy.

I have it all the time like about once or twice a week. In the last month or so it has gotten worse (if Deja Vu is a problem). For example 2 days ago when reading another forum I remembered an avatar and the text being the same and had a DJV experiencee and then when I scrolled down the DJV continued to happed for each post after that untill like 5 down. Even me thinking it was DJV was a DJV. It was kinda freaky.
Today I got a new tool box and it had some keys to lock it up with. So I was looking around my garage for a place to hide/hang the key so that I would know where it was but a thief wouldnt. Well I looked for like 10 min and finally found a nail in an pbscure place and the second I hung the key on it I had DJV again. I dont know what this means, maybe it is good, but maybe it is a warning for something. Im a paranoid guy anyways so I always go for the worst case senario. |

I've done some research on De Jevu and sometimes it can be a sign that your about to have a Grand-Mal Seizure, which isn't very fun at all.
But i've had a few dreams where i encounter a room or event somewhere, and a year later it happens, really freaks me out, cause i don't have dreams very often |

I experience this quite often, I will be having a conversation with someone or driving somewhere and see something and suddenly remember having dreamed about that exact moment. I can normally repeat what the person will say as they are saying it. I even have moments where i am just thinking to myself "Hey, I dreamed I was thinking about dreaming about myself dreaming about this moment, etc."
It is never a significant thing/conversation that i remember but it does get weird. I keep hoping to dream about the winning lottery numbers, but so far no dice. DB |

How about this....last week I was thinking about "Deja Vu's" and decided to search TFP for any threads of wisdom. I read through this entire thread but didn't have time to post.
Voila.....today it shows up at the top. "It's like Deja Vu all over again"

Ok, not to sound like I need to be booked into the local padded cell, here is my story.
From the age of around 10, until about 15 years old, I could sense that I was about to go into a Deja Vu motion/event. It hard to explain, but it was like a sixth sense, almost like getting Goosebumps for no reason, it just was a strong change in my body. It would all start with my vision turning into a very direct line of sight, almost as if I had lost all peripheral sight, and my hearing dimmed too. I would then hear my internal voice telling me what was about to happen, always just 3 or 4 seconds before it happened. Once it happened, my sight and hearing returned to normal. I can recall some vivid events where I have wanted to tell someone what was about to happen, but nothing would come out except, what they tell me was a mumble. One time we were playing tag in the playground at school. My friend was just about to run across the playground, to get to the safety area, and I saw he was about to get his front tooth knocked out by colliding with some other kid. Well, it happened. Another weird thing was during a vacation. We were swimming and my dad told me to get some loose change from the apartment to get ice cream. He gave me the key, and I started to head to the front of the complex, something I had done often. About half way there, I froze, stopped and realized something was wrong, but had no earthly idea what, or how I knew this. All I knew was I was scared. I run back to my dad, and told him that, I couldn’t open the door, and he needs to come with me. I used the door excuse because I really didn’t want to go up to the room on my own. Sure enough, we caught 3 guys burglarizing the apartment. This really scared me, because I just knew something was wrong, and didn’t want to go any further on my own. I could not see the apartment from where I got too either. |

that's creepy but is it deja vu and not some sort of premonition ability? or would you consider them one of the same? deja vu for me is where i'm just like "huh, this kind of feels like it's happened before" but it will be something completely bland and it will actually be happening to me right then. EG, i'll be talking to someone and i suddenly think i may have had this exact conversation before (but i havent). Your stories seem to be predicting (correctly) the very near future. Whatever it is it seems to be very useful ability. I find deja vus something to be taken pretty light heartedly and that theory posted above about how memories and current situations take different channels actually sounds like a realistic idea (not that i even know if such channels exist!). |

In my Neuroscience class we learned about sensations of deja-vu, and what it broke down to was basically neurons in your memory areas misfiring due to a chemical imbalance. If you get this very often, it might be a good idea to get checked out by a doc, because it may be a symptom of something more serious.
As for me, I get these very weird moments of deja-vu involving dreams I've had recently or a long time ago. I might be doing something, and suddenly remember in great detail, some dream I've had in the past (and not one of those dreams that you remember after you've woken, but the kind you forget very quickly). This feeling passes in a few minutes, and I once again forget the dream. The feeling is accompanied by a mild sensation of nausea, so I know its definitely my brain screwing something up. The last time this happened was this weekend, while I was rollerblading in Central Park. Definitely creepy.

The feelings were exactly like Deja Vu ony alot more intense than i had experienced before and always associated with feelings of fear or even r#terror of the objects or surroundings I was "re-experiencing". I've had two Grand-Mal Seizures. The second one (last year) was preceded by an "aura" which was a feeling of dreaming and distance from reality, but Deja-Vu didn't figure at all. |

Other times i get it when i pick up something, and i work out that i dreamed of it before hand. Or when i'm talking to someone, i interupt and say havent we had this conversation before? They always look at me weird or dumbfounded. I know what they're going to say before hand and sometimes i might finish a sentence for them (happened a few times). Its definately weird and i enjoy it as well. |

Yeah Deja Vu is wierd as, I can't really explain it, but sometimes I can sense deja vu before it actually comes, and most of the time, I get deja vu, and It seems that, that instance of deja vu 'the part where I go "woah, deja vu", has actually happened before. So when I get deja vu, another two hit me in the face, leaving me dazed and confused. yeah deja vu is great.

Also, lately when I have it the deja vu, it's of thinking that I have deja vu, and in my head I'm going "okay you're going to sa...yeah that, and that but what if I say this I'm going to fool it...wait, that's the same thought process you had when you dreamt this". It's crazy. I really do love the feeling it gives me though. |

I get it at least once a week if not more. It always seems like I remember having dreamt it at some point. I don't remember my dreams much these days, I used to have very vivid dreams and remember them well. I think Deja Vu is something in your subconscious remembering a similar task of some sort.
