In my Neuroscience class we learned about sensations of deja-vu, and what it broke down to was basically neurons in your memory areas misfiring due to a chemical imbalance. If you get this very often, it might be a good idea to get checked out by a doc, because it may be a symptom of something more serious.
As for me, I get these very weird moments of deja-vu involving dreams I've had recently or a long time ago. I might be doing something, and suddenly remember in great detail, some dream I've had in the past (and not one of those dreams that you remember after you've woken, but the kind you forget very quickly). This feeling passes in a few minutes, and I once again forget the dream. The feeling is accompanied by a mild sensation of nausea, so I know its definitely my brain screwing something up.
The last time this happened was this weekend, while I was rollerblading in Central Park. Definitely creepy.
