I've got a similar system (GF4 Ti4600, 768MB RAM, AthlonXP 2000+) and have no problems at all anywhere in WoW except Ironforge during peak hours. I'm running at 800x600 with most options at medium.

I have had so many issues in WoW it's ridiculous Mikey. I would suggest taking a look at WoW's support FAQ and the message boards, chances are with so many people your problem has been encountered before. In fact, I've found the tech support forum to be quite helpful.

thank for everyones help
ive dropped my graphics all the way down, and drop the to 800x600 and it is running much better. ive had some hard locks, not sure what the deal with that is. While trying to figure out if it was a hardwear problem (WoW helped me find a dead stick of RAM) i found that i also had a dead fan on my CPU. I could be having Heat issues. Again, thanks for the help

I had a heat issue a few months ago and intermittent hard locks were a result of that. Every few hours the game would just stop working, completely. It was actually very easy to diagnose and fix (move the damn computer out of a closet you nit-wit).

So, what server is everyone on? As I stated before, I have an undead priest (Anglofdth) on Alexstrasza, and I started a new human warrior (Tongva) on Kul Tiras.
I've found that when there's a long queue for your character's realm, just start a new one in another realm. Eventually you'll have characters in each realm, so you'll never have to wait in a queue unless your intentions are character-specific. plus, it's kinda fun to play on different servers; getting to know everyone in WoW. Wish I could meet some of you!

Well my main chars are on Nerzhul, I also have a char on Spirestone which is a low to medium server for all the days I dont feel like dealing with lag. I also have a chars on Dunemaul for the days I feel like being with the horde and killing some Alliance. I also play on Halx's server which is silvermoon I think. I think all the main chars I play are above 40's which is nice cause man not having a mount sucks.

Ah, I see. Well I'm a super n00b, so you probably wouldn't want to meet up with my chars. I was thinking of starting a new thread called "WoW - Roll Call", and have that be strictly a roll call thread, leaving this one for discussion (that way we won't have to fish through this thread to see where everyone is at), but I'm not sure if they want two WoW threads running at once.

In order I'm most likely to be playing
Shadow Council (RP) Horde, CName Daghda Bleeding Hollow (PvP) Alliance, CName Clandestine Meh, I just decided to list those two, the rest of the servers I rarely play anymore. Tough to say if I'll be playing the game for much longer though, but even in general I would recommend shadow council, its a great server but I think I'm the only one from tfp who plays on there. I would only focus on one character pretty soon, don't make too many alts or youll get sick of the game before you have a chance to level up enough to see new areas. Eventually you'll want only 1 main and 1 alt. |

Nice threads, Flux!
Gah I've had soooo much bad luck trying to play this game. First, it didn't work at all because I had on-board video. So I bought a video card. While installing the video card, I found that crappy eMachines purposely made it so I had to choose between my hard drive and a video card by giving me short power supply wires. So the game works, but is extremely choppy for obvious reasons. I ordered an extension (splitter, actually), which is still in transit to my place, so I'm just waiting, playing my trial. I decide I want to authenticate my trial because I was planning on playing for awhile anyways, and I found out the hard way that trial accounts can't use the auction house and can't trade (I could've made a nice silver last night if it weren't for that). So I bought the game off eBay (I'm boycotting EBGames), and I chose that particular auction because they said they were willing to open the box for me and E-Mail the CD Key to me. So I pay immediately with PayPal, but they say they can't send me the CD Key until I verify my account. My PayPal account isn't verified because I don't use a bank. I hate banks and I think they should all burn in hell (Wells Fargo was my first and only experience using a bank). But I have a card on file, and I have references. I explain that to him, giving him ALL of my contact info (Name, Address, Phone Number, E-Mail, AIM, my myspace page, and even my WoW characters), but he says he can't send me the key unless I scan my I.D. in super-large resolution for him. This coming from a guy in Hong Kong raised my alerts (I'm not trying to have my identity stolen just so I can play WoW), so I decided not to and asked for a refund. So here I am, trial account expired, no CD key, and I've yet to receive my refund. All I wanted to do was play WoW.

Long story about the boycott. It is for good reason.
Great news! I purchased it off of a reputable seller on tradegamenow, and now I'm authenticated! Now all I need to do is make sure I get that refund, and install the splitter when it arrives! Whoohoo! I've been using "Tongva" on Kul Tiras a lot lately. There seems to be no queues on that realm.

My guild just downed Ebonroc and Flamegor for the first time last night. Flamegore is such a knockover...
Chromaggus is a bitch, though. But over an hour and a half of trying out different strats we finally got one that doesn't suck and got him down to 61% before calling it quits for the night. Hunley - NE Rogue of High Guarde Detheroc server (US)

After you get a good placement and get used to his effects, Chromaggus is really only hard because he has a lot of HP and you can't keep heavy DPS on him because of needing to LoS every twenty seconds. It can be hard to keep everyone paying attention and doing their jobs for a 10-20 minute long fight (depending on whether or not you get timelapse).
That's really one of the big differences between MC and BWL for me. In MC, most of the bosses take under ten minutes and if one or two people mess up it's really not going to make any difference. In BWL, the bosses routinely take more than ten minutes and if people get tired or lazy, it's just as easy to wipe at 5% as it is at 90%. Vael is the big exception to this, obviously, but many of the other fights take a pretty long time. That being said, turning into a drakonid at 10% on Chrom because I wasn't getting my debuffs removed and wiping the raid was one of the funnier things that has happened to me. |

People of Earth, I am stuck on Kul Tiras. I've only been playing this game for a few days and it has become an addiction for me. I would stop right now if it weren't such a great game. Plus, I got my Y adapter for my video card, so I'm no longer experiencing any frame skips. The Gryphon rides are sooo beautiful, and the game itself is just soooo immersive. I deleted Anglofdth and I decided to focus on Tongva, my human warrior. Here he is:
Someone save me from this amazing game, please. I don't want to die without a social life! Ok back to WoW.

Finally got my hunter up to 60 on Saturday morning... I haven't had time to play since then and maybe I'll have time tomorrow night for a bit, and some over this weekend. But right now my weeknights are getting very full each week, leaving only the weekends to play.

Let me introduce you to the current #3 PVP hunter on Silvermoon server.
Buddar (formerly known as Buddah until someone complained to Blizzard and then they changed it..) Rank 12 (Marshal) Here's another shot awhile ago. (Notice me in my then AWESOME full Beaststalkers set. This is after my first MC run, we downed Gehan on our first run.. Here are some gratitutious action shots during one AV encounter. I bet it hurt.. I just was invited to an raiding guild, so this is a shot of us going for my Onyxia sinew for my epic bow quest.. My guild is sooooo off the chain and great. Not only when the sinew dropped, the Dragonstalker helm dropped and they awarded ME with it! (Everyone of the othe hunter are Giantstalker'ed out so I will become the first of the guild to get Dragonstalker.. WHEEEE!!! (Unless I get to Grand Marshal, then I'll have 4 sets or armor to choose from..) Don't laugh and have me to have to hurt you..

We just got our first thunderfury about 15 minutes ago! YES! I know it got nerfed, but it's still a nice status symbol and it looks totally sweet. The only downside: thunderran is a really really lame fight.
Additionally, thanks to the other hunters in my guild, I picked up DS belt and greaves tonight. Vael and Broodlord treated me well. HUGE upgrades from the pre-raid blues I'd been stuck with due to the gross lack of GS pieces I've seen for those slots. Last edited by Frosstbyte; 02-09-2006 at 01:11 AM.. |

I don't think you will be able to play with many of us at all. There are so many servers out there that there's like one TFPer on each server.
I'm on Malfurion, and far as I can tell, there are no other TFPers on there.

Hal, just out of curiousity, have you guys had any luck bringing down Razorgore yet?
Also, I perused your website and I wondered why you require your guild members to have scrolling combat text. I've just started using it and I like it a lot, but it seems like a personal preference display mod as opposed to something like ctraidassist which has a multitude of group and event-related uses. Is there something about sct that I've totally missed that might be helpful? And here are more SS for your enjoyment. Here is what happens when hunters who are already exalted in AV get bored. This is what happens if your cleansers do a bad job during the Chrom fight.
