Just as a tip to everyone out there: hope that Ashkandhi (the ridiculous two-handed sword off Nef) either never drops for you or drops every single time so it's not an issue. I have seen more trouble come from this one item than anything else in the game. The hunters and warriors in my guild kind of aren't talking to one another right now because of how it was given out tonight. Another guild on my server held Nef's body open for two hours (!!!) deciding if it should be given to an alt warrior or a main hunter when the alt warrior had more DKP and then had a bunch of gquits because they decided to give it to the alt warrior.
I'm completely serious. They killed Nef before we pulled Chrom, we killed Chrom, then wiped on Nef-drakonids once, rebuffed, killed Nef, did loot, went to SW, hung the head, went back to IF and were gearing up for an Ony raid by the time they decided who to give the sword to. Totally ridiculous. This isn't to start a loot debate here about who should be getting it, I've just never seen any other piece of loot make so many people so upset as this one does. Edit: You've had enough time to get some sick SS of Sulfuras! Let's see that shit! Last edited by Frosstbyte; 02-23-2006 at 03:30 AM.. |

I broke down and installed the WoW trial. I made a Human Mage on Silvermoon named Marsellus. He's black, he's bald, and he definitely does not look like a bitch. My initial impression is it's a lot like EQ, except there's less sitting around and dying. I'm now level 8. I think the trials are capped at 20, and at this point I'm still not planning on buying the game, so that's probably where I'll stay for a while anyway.

Be aware you miss out on a lot of the game by only doing the trial. For example, mailboxes, accumulating wealth, trading, etc. I'm not trying to persuade you to buy the game, I'm simply letting you know ithe trial may not be a complete picture of WoW for when you make your decision to continue.

Dunno if anyone else's guild is doing it, but how are people dealing with the AQ20 spell books? Despite having a DKP bidding system that we use for everything else, my guild is free-rolling these books with the caveat that you can only win one per run. I happen to think it's a silly system, but they're common enough that I'm told we're better off not wasting DKP on them. Anyone else's guild have a more elegant solution?

Yeah, the simple solution is to just /roll on everything and not worry about DKP in AQ20 because for the most part the loot is worse than ZG >_>

Make a list and each person gets one in order. base it on amount of DKP, so the person with the highest DKP gets the first one..and so on down the list. That way its still based on seniority (which is basically what DKP is except you can use it up) but you dont bother spending your actual points. Obviously the list would freeze and would not go up or down if someone spent their points, if someone already got one then just go to the next person on the list. |

For example, today 2 60 warlocks attacked me in the tunnel in WSG and I killed both without a healer. That would have been the joke of the century with my OEB!! I'm working on a PVP video, but I have no idea what I'm doing so it's gonna take a while.

PS: Sulfuras has a higher proc rate than Sword Spec. I'm guessing it's somewhere around 6-7%...it goes off like 1-4 times per fight!!

So, I finally hit 60 over the weekend and got in on the ground floor with my guild doing MC. I've missed out on all of the ZG runs, but I've been along for all but one MC run. We've taken down Lucifron (first try), Magmadar (a few wipes, but got him), Gehennas (first try), and Garr (two wipes).
This week, we're hoping to take them all down again and push through up to Sulfuron. We had a bunch of good drops, though I didn't have enough points accumulated to even bother rolling on anything. The really big drop was that Bindings of the Windseeker (right half) dropped for us off Garr, and so our main tank is now drooling over the thought of getting the Thunderfury. Only one person on our server (Greymane) has it. I respecced from Beast Mastery (which is what I'd been all along - so much fun for soloing) to a 5/31/15 Marksmanship build and am now right up near the top of damage meters, even with my mix of greens and blues. Before I respecced, my top crit was 1700 with Aimed Shot, and then over the weekend during a wipe on Magmadar, I crit on him for 2300 - instant aggro gain = one dead hunter

So I'm like goin' .. WTF. So ya.. we killed Razorgore on our second attempt ever. That was 3 weeks ago and we haven't killed him since. On our first attempt we had 5 druid and 5 locks. Ever since then, we've been rolling with half that. Those dragonkin are fuckin' us up. Last week we spent all fuckin Friday night working on the encounter. We wiped about 12 times and still couldn't get him down. Our last 4 times or so, we got to Razorgore himself, and with a BUNCH of people up, but then he seemed to be 2-shotting our tanks. We coulda killed him on one attempt if I had called for an all out nuke after he took out our MT in half a second, but I told everyone to stop attacking.. sigh. This friday we will have revenge.

For the strategy I posted, at least, doing it without at least 8 druids/locks is going to be really really tough. The dragons tend to do way too much damage for them to be easily kited. Good luck, Hal! I expect Nefarian reports soon.

Take those two points out of savage strikes and put them in survivalist! 4% more HP is much better than 20% crit chance on raptor strikes with the rest of your spec, in my opinion, since it doesn't look like a hardcore PvP spec where that'd be useful.
In other news, congrats on the gear. We've had rag drop double judgement twice in the two months since we saw our last pair of DS leggings. Sigh..... |

OK, I have gone on and off on my WoW subscription, and I haven't even gotten to any decent game content of any sort (highest lvl char being lvl 15 :P) due to the fact that my problem (at least I think it is) is that I think my computer can't handle traversing through main cities, as soon as I attempt a run to the auction house during peak hours, I'm hit with a wall of lag that makes going 10 feet endless; I don't think it can be my internet since my speed is 4mb/s and I know im on a west coast server (I live in Alaska btw) so I thought maybe it is my computer.
I have a fairly aged Gateway 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 512 RD RAM Running Windows XP Pro and a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 could my lag really be contributed to the RAM and GPU? |

It's doubtful that it's your computer. Try logging in at different times of the day.. most likely it's just lag because there's a shit ton of people on when you are.

Was a little iffy on the Surv talents to pick seeing as I was going from 0/21/30 to 5/21/15, but I quite like the setup I've got now. Can't wait til one of our hunters finishes his DS set (he's at 7/8 now), the DPS increase from Expose Weakness should be tasty after they make it unresistable in 1.10.

Halx-
Have you gone any further with Razor? I'm not sure why 'locks and druids are important for you. I assume maybe you play an alliance character? For us we put one 5-man group in each corner (entries for baddies). There needs to be a healer, a melee DPS, a mage and whatever else in each. Those groups attack ONLY casters that come into the room (mage is there to poly in the event of a double-caster). Several shaman kite the dragonkin the whole fight. I'm not 100% sure what we do with the Lego's, but they are also primarily kited I believe. In the end, when the Razorgore encounter starts, we've killed all casters and left the Lego's and Dragonkin alone. Since they leave anyway, it's no big deal. Razor has been our bitch for a while now, so this tactic works well for sure. We just beat Nef for the second time this week. The hardest fight in BWL still seems to be Vael. Man, that bastard hits HARD when he hits. Now that we have the strat for Nef down pat, even he's not too hard. Seems to take 15-20 minutes each time, but I think this week we took out Nef with only 2 or 3 deaths throughout the whole fight. w00t! |

I finally managed to deck myself out in full epics! Some of them are kind of shitty, but I hope to upgrade those soon. As long as they're purple and shiny I'm pleased

A good friend of mine, a mage, just picked up his Mageblade last night to go with his Fire Runed Grimoire. Very good pairing I'm working on getting all purples, but I've got a long long ways to go.

The broodlord clear is much easier than it looks. Half the problem is that it just looks intimidating. Once you get a pattern down, it's a pretty boring 20 minute clear to a pretty hilarious boss. I love the broodlord fight, myself.
