Damn, really? Haha, Briarthorn is the one thing I have the MOST of. It's all over The Barrens, Stonetalon, and Silverpine (probably more, but that's where my quests are right now). I have about 5 stacks of 20

Silverleaf is the one thing I need most of, but can never seem to get.. although there's the oasis in the barrens I just found that has TONS of it.

Honestly, it doesn't really take all that long.

Just gotta claw your way through the quests! If you go out and grind (aka, just getting XP from mobs), it'll take you ages.. unless you're a rogue or something that can just rip through mob after mob without much downtime (thistle tea along w/ alchemy for pots is amazing!)

If I did nothing but grind, I could probably manage 20k XP an hour. Avg rogue battle for me is.. 15 seconds with equal level mobs. Then you account for respawns, etc.. which is generally 300 XP a minute.

If I do nothing but quests, I can manage 2-3 levels every 4 hours of play (going solo). I'm almost at 29, but if you use the "/played" command, it'll tell you the total time spent playing along with the amount of time spent at your current level.

I think the highest my "level" time has been might've been 2 hours, but that was when I was out herb-farming. With 2k XP (and more) from each quest, depending on what you have to do, it doesn't take much time to do 15 of em.

There are the occasional quests where you need to kill an ungodly amount of enemies or get a ridiculous amount of items (for example, 30 Hillsbrad Human skulls), but those are generally few and far between.

If you have friends that play with ya, you could easily get through 5 quests an hour (probably more, again, depending on which quest it is). It goes by much faster when you party.

So far, with my lv 28 (almost 29) rogue, I have 3 days of gameplay total.

There has been a massive amount of whining / bitching about it from Alliance from all servers because we were a little creative with his placement when we pulled him. We've had a lot of accusations of "cheating" thrown at us for killing him, mostly from people who don't seem to be able to comprehend what is going on from examining screenshots. For instance, someone suggested that the King sat motionless and didn't attack, though is is very clear that he was attacking and spawned a billion guards which we had to kill repeatedly. Anyhow, we got no loot from him, but we managed to stir up all the Alliance, so in a way that is enough of a reward.

The fight took 45 mins to an hour -- that's from the moment we engaged, to the moment he died -- and we had to deal with some Alliance, and his billions of summoned guards as well. Most Alliance, thankfully, weren't bright enough to figure out how to get to where we were.

I'm an officer of 12p, and the outcry from Alliance is even better than any loot he could have dropped.

My brain hurts with the thought of how that is possible, assuming he's a level 500 like the ones in Stormwind and/or that the level 500 designation actually means anything. It would seem numerically impossible for a level 60 to hit anything that much higher, but hey, whatever works. Additionally, my computer can't handle the normal amount of lag that it incurs when in IF. I can't imagine having a raid party on top of that. Shudder indeed.

Quick question to the assembled wisdom: I was wandering around Iron Forge trying to restock my herbs. I was a few hundred points away from leveling so I thought I could do two things at once. I noticed after killing damn near fifty small and assorted creatures whilst gathering herbs my XP hadn't moved an inch. Why? Is this a glitch of some kind? Thanks for any info.

If the mob is more than 5 (or 10?) levels lower than you, you get no xp for killing it. You can see this if their level shows up in grey when you target them.

I think it's 10. I'm 34 and I still get XP off 25/26 enemies. This system is in place to prevent higher level people from clearing out hordes of smaller enemies that lower level people are better off fighting. It's also there to, you know, challenge you to fight stuff of your level. No one said this was going to be easy.

Grinding will always be faster than questing at that level since the quests usually involve multiple steps that take you all over WoW. It's a matter of finding good mobs to grind as well. As a paladin, for example, you want undead.

At 49, you can work the thistles in Tanaris (south west corner of the map, by the enterance to un'goro crater) for good xp. At 50, skeletons in Western Plaguelands are easy xp. At 52, hit up the Un'goro crater itself. There are tons and tons of easy quests in there.

You have tons of options, but you are right that the pace slows down.

Very nice but you guys ghosted into old ironforge and pulled him there right? The real challenge would be killing him while alliance are easily able to get to you and drop fear bombs and such.

The ONLY thing wrong with the PVP system is the fact that you can't raid towns unless your raid party is beyond incredible (sort of like the 12 Prophets up there). The dynamic spawn guarding ruins any type of raid on towns. The moment you raid a town, literally 50 guards spawn that are level 50+ and sometimes elite. You have no chance of taking over a town. The only town that accomplishes this is Booty Bay, and it's just like one big paintball arena. I think that there should be a timer on the guard spawning. Say 15-30 minutes. If a guild is large and devoted enough to take over an entire town, they should be allowed to do so. Then after 15-30 minutes, the guards spawn to help. Right now, once you STEP FOOT into a town of the opposite faction, a hundred guards spawn and rape you. Not fun.

Battlegrounds has potential to be cool but I can see it failing miserably.

The problem with PvP, as I see it, is that there really is no reason for it. In other games you would pvp for zone control, or area control, or even for loots/points. I guess there is some area control pvp in WoW, but it's not really neccessary because there are so many places you can go that give similar rewards. Right now the only reason to pvp on a large scale is just for shit's and giggles. You don't accomplish anything by doing it, or really even gain anything by winning a battle.

Hit 55 not too long ago, and it's going sloooooooow.....

The sad thing is that a good portion of my guild has already hit 60, so I'm lagging behind. At least I maxed out my tailoring.
It's kind of getting boring, though. At least a little bit. I may not have the attention span needed to finish the higher lvl instances, where you HAVE to go to do a lot of quests. I guess I'll get there eventually....

I was wondering, on a side note, if there's any (relatively) easy way to increase rep with darnassus. I'm a human, so I get the diplomacy bonus, but I'm looking for a good re-doable quest or thing to kill.
I want that cat.

There are a variety of ways to do this.

1) /tell [name] Message

2) /whisper [name] Message

3) Click on their name in the chat window much like you'd click on an item.

There may be more, but those are the ones I use.

Thanks Frosstbyte. Thats exactly what I was looking for. Much appreciated. Here is another silly yet innane question: Sometimes when I try to login to my server I get stuck on "Authenticating." I take this to mean that my server is busy. Should I just let the game keep running or cancel and try again? Will the "Authenticating" process ever resolve itself or will it stay there stuck? Just wondering. Thanks.

I usually leave it and just wait and it'll usually resolve itself. If it doesn't just keep trying every few minutes and you should be able to log in.

Blizzard's login server (the server that keeps the database of all their login names and passwords) has been very touchy basically since WoW started. Sometimes it is working and sometimes it is not. When it gets stuck on "Authenticating," it means the login server is down. You just have to wait a while for it to get fixed and then it'll work. It's not anything you're doing, but one of those glitches that Blizzard needs to get worked out.

And yes, Hal, this game will do just that.

I've only been able to play for a grand total of five minutes today as first I kept getting hung up on "authenticating" and all the usual tricks weren't working...grr...and then when I finally DID get on to my server it was twelve minutes away from shutting down for emergency maintenance. So when the server finally came up again and I was able to play...the game crashed, and now it's hung up on "authenticating" again.

Yeah, the fates are conspiring against me.
